Description
実施形態に係る電極10(正極20)を含む電池100について、図1および図2を参照しながら説明する。
正極20の活物質層22の端部22aの外周端から4mm内側の位置から外周端に掛けてのみ傾斜を付ける。正極20の活物質層22の端部22aの外周端から2.5mmの位置の厚さTaが140μm以下になるように、活物質層22を集電体21上に塗布した。絶縁部材50に覆われた活物質層22の端部22aの厚さTaおよび絶縁部材50の厚さの積層方向成分Tzの合計Tgは、最大150μm(絶縁部材50に覆われていない活物質層22の厚さTと同じ厚さ)になるように設けた。正極20の活物質層22は、大きさが190mm×190mmの矩形状に形成した。このように、正極20は、アスペクト比が1:1になるように設けた。負極30の活物質層32は、大きさが200mm×200mmの矩形状に形成した。このような大きさに形成した正極20および負極30を用いて発電要素70を形成し、サイクル試験を行った。その結果、サイクル容量維持率は82%であった。
正極20の活物質層22の端部22aの外周端から4mm内側の位置から外周端に掛けてのみ傾斜を付ける。正極20の活物質層22の端部22aの外周端から2.5mmの位置の厚さTaが130μm以下になるように、活物質層22を集電体21上に塗布した。絶縁部材50に覆われた活物質層22の端部22aの厚さTaおよび絶縁部材50の厚さの積層方向成分Tzの合計Tgは、最大140μm(絶縁部材50に覆われていない活物質層22の厚さTより小さい厚さ)になるように設けた。正極20の活物質層22は、大きさが190mm×190mmの矩形状に形成した。このように、正極20は、アスペクト比が1:1になるように設けた。負極30の活物質層32は、大きさが200mm×200mmの矩形状に形成した。このような大きさに形成した正極20および負極30を用いて発電要素70を形成し、サイクル試験を行った。その結果、サイクル容量維持率は82%であった。

正極の活物質層の端部の厚さが絶縁部材に覆われていない活物質層の厚さと同様に150μmになるように、活物質層を集電体上に塗布した。絶縁部材に覆われた活物質層の端部の厚さおよび絶縁部材の厚さの積層方向成分の合計は、最大160μm(絶縁部材に覆われていない活物質層の厚さより大きい厚さ)になるように設けた。正極の活物質層は、大きさが190mm×190mmの矩形状に形成した。このように、正極は、アスペクト比が1:1になるように設けた。負極の活物質層は、大きさが200mm×200mmの矩形状に形成した。このような大きさに形成した正極および負極を用いて発電要素を形成し、サイクル試験を行った。その結果、サイクル容量維持率は76%であった。
正極の活物質層の端部の外周端から4mm内側の位置から外周端に掛けてのみ傾斜を付ける。正極の活物質層の端部の外周端から2.5mmの位置の厚さが145μm以下になるように、活物質層を集電体上に塗布した。絶縁部材に覆われた活物質層の端部の厚さおよび絶縁部材の厚さの積層方向成分の合計は、最大155μm(絶縁部材に覆われていない活物質層の厚さより大きい厚さ)になるように設けた。正極の活物質層は、大きさが190mm×190mmの矩形状に形成した。このように、正極は、アスペクト比が1:1になるように設けた。負極の活物質層は、大きさが200mm×200mmの矩形状に形成した。このような大きさに形成した正極および負極を用いて発電要素を形成し、サイクル試験を行った。その結果、サイクル容量維持率は79%であった。
正極の活物質層の端部の外周端から4mm内側の位置から外周端に掛けてのみ傾斜を付ける。正極の活物質層の端部の外周端から2.5mmの位置の厚さが140μm以下になるように、活物質層を集電体上に塗布した。絶縁部材に覆われた活物質層の端部の厚さおよび絶縁部材の厚さの積層方向成分の合計は、最大150μm(絶縁部材に覆われていない活物質層の厚さと同じ厚さ)になるように設けた。正極の活物質層は、大きさが190mm×760mmの矩形状に形成した。このように、正極は、アスペクト比が1:4になるように設けた。負極の活物質層は、大きさが200mm×770mmの矩形状に形成した。このような大きさに形成した正極および負極を用いて発電要素を形成し、サイクル試験を行った。その結果、サイクル容量維持率は78%であった。
実施例1〜3は、比較例1〜3と比較して、サイクル容量維持率が向上した。これは、絶縁部材50に覆われた活物質層22の端部22aの厚さTaおよび絶縁部材50の厚さの積層方向成分Tzの合計Tgが、絶縁部材50に覆われていない活物質層22の厚さT以内であり、かつ正極20のアスペクト比が、1〜3であるからである。このような構成により、実施例1〜3は、集電体上の活物質層の端部に絶縁部材を設けても、電極に掛かる圧力を均一にすることができ、電極反応を均一にすることができたと考えられる。また、正極20のアスペクト比をかような範囲とすることで、面方向に均一にガスを排出することができたと考えられる。その結果サイクル容量維持率(サイクル特性)が向上したためであると考えられる。

Claims (7)
- 電極をセパレータを介して積層した積層体と、前記積層体を封止する外装体と、を有する扁平型の電池であって、
前記電極は、
集電体と、
前記集電体上に前記集電体の一部を露出させた露出部を残しつつ、前記露出部に向かって厚さが薄くなるように傾斜する傾斜部が形成するように積層された活物質層と、
前記露出部から前記傾斜部までを覆う絶縁部材と、を有し、
前記絶縁部材に覆われた前記活物質層の端部の厚さおよび前記絶縁部材の厚さの積層方向成分の合計は、前記絶縁部材に覆われていない前記活物質層の厚さ以内であって、
定格容量に対する前記電池の面積(前記外装体まで含めた前記電池の前記積層体の積層方向からの投影面積)の比の値は、5cm2/Ah以上であり、かつ、前記定格容量は、3Ah以上であって、
矩形状の前記活物質層の縦横比として定義される前記電極のアスペクト比は、1〜3である、電池。 - 前記絶縁部材は、当該絶縁部材が覆われる前記集電体及び前記活物質層の極とは異なる極における前記集電体または前記活物質層の面方向の端部よりも延在して設けられる請求項1に記載の電池。
- 前記集電体の端部にタブが接続され、
前記タブが接続された辺の前記活物質層に前記絶縁部材が配置される、請求項1または2に記載の電池。 - 前記集電体および前記活物質層は、正極用である、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の電池。
- 前記絶縁部材は、平面視した際に負極の前記活物質層が形成する範囲と重なる位置に配置される請求項4に記載の電池。
- 前記絶縁部材は、前記活物質層の前記集電体が積層される側と反対側に積層されるセパレータの面方向の端部よりも延在して設けられる請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の電池。
- 前記活物質層は、長方形状であり、前記長方形の短辺の長さは、100mm以上である、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の電池。
