Claims (6)
- 燃焼室内に生成される電界と点火プラグによる火花放電とを反応させてプラズマを生成して混合気に着火する火花点火式内燃機関であって、
混合気を燃焼させる際に前記燃焼室へ電磁波を放射する電磁波放射装置と、
少なくとも一部が導電体により構成され、前記燃焼室を区画する区画面から突出する複数の突出部材とを備え、
電界と火花放電との反応によりプラズマが生成される着火位置から広がる火炎の伝播が前記燃焼室において相対的に遅い吸気ポート側の方が排気ポート側よりも、多くの前記突出部材が配置され、
前記混合気の着火後に前記着火位置から広がる火炎が前記突出部材を通過する前に、前記電磁波放射装置が電磁波を放射して前記突出部材の近傍にプラズマを生成することを特徴とする火花点火式内燃機関。 - 請求項1において、
前記電磁波放射装置は、前記火花放電を行う際に電磁波を放射することを特徴とする火花点火式内燃機関。 - 請求項1又は2において、
前記排気ポート側には、前記突出部材が配置されていないことを特徴とする火花点火式内燃機関。 - 請求項1乃至3の何れか1つにおいて、
前記突出部材の導電体は、前記電磁波放射装置が放射する電磁波の波長の4分の1の長さの金属線であることを特徴とする火花点火式内燃機関。 - 請求項1乃至4の何れか1つにおいて、
前記区画面では、前記電磁波放射装置が放射する電磁波の波長の4分の1以内の間隔で複数の突出部材が配置されていることを特徴とする火花点火式内燃機関。 - 請求項1乃至5の何れか1つにおいて、
前記燃焼室は、円筒状のシリンダ内に形成され、
前記燃焼室の天井面の中心部に、前記点火プラグが配置される一方、
前記突出部材は、前記燃焼室の天井面において前記点火プラグと前記燃焼室の壁面との間に配置されていることを特徴とする火花点火式内燃機関。
