更に、マルチタッチパネル又はこれに接続されたデバイスは、1つ又はそれ以上のタッチ事象の動き(例えば、パネルの表面に沿って動いている1つ又はそれ以上の指)を経時的に追跡することができる。これは、更に複雑な「タッチジェスチャー」の追跡を可能にすることができる。
本発明のデバイスは、以前のデバイスによっては検出可能ではなかったユーザ動作を検出できるので、これらのデバイスはまた、機械インターフェース動作であるとユーザによって意図されなかった特定のユーザ動作を検出することができる。例えば、ユーザは、タイプの間に従来のラップトップトラックパッド上にユーザの手掌を置いたままにすることが多く、これによりラップトップに対してどのようなコマンドも生じさせることはない。しかしながら、あるバージョンのトラックパッド100は、ユーザの手掌を載せた結果として押下され、ピックを登録する可能性がある。
パネル400のパターンはまた、ユーザがトラックパッド上に手を載せていることを示すことができるので、同時に感知されたあらゆるピックを拒否するようにすることができる。パネル400のパターンは、パターン402が親指タッチとして認識されない場合でもピックを拒否するようにすることができる。一般に、手掌タッチ(パターン401など)、或いはパネルの上部分のいずれかの指タッチと併せて手掌タッチの一部が検出された場合、同時に検出されたピックは無視することができる。パネルの上部分は、例えばパネルの上部1/5として定められる(図4Aでは線403によって定められる)。パネル400の鏡像はまた、ピック拒否をもたらすことができる。
上述のケースでは、最低経路が親指経路として識別され且つ唯一ではない場合、ピックが解放された後に継続して拒否されることになる。上述の最低経路動作は、上記の図4Cと共に説明された親指レストゾーン動作とは区別され、これに依存する必要はないものとすることができる。
トラックパッド34は、トラックパッド34を押している物体によって付勢に打ち勝ったときに作動位置に移動する。図10Cに示されるように、トラックパッド34は、作動位置がニュートラル位置に対してわずかに傾斜するように一方端で枢動することができる。
指(又は他の物体)がトラックパッド34から取り除かれたときには、付勢部材がニュートラル位置に向かってトラックパッド34を押し戻す。シム又は他の構造体(図示せず)は、トラックパッド34が戻るときにニュートラル位置を行き過ぎるのを防ぐことができる。例えば、フレーム32の一部は、トラックパッド34の一部の上を外側に延びて、トラックパッド34をニュートラル位置に止めておくようにすることができる。このようにして、トラック表面は、必要に応じてフレーム32と同一平面に維持することができる。
例えば、ラップトップコンピュータ又はハンドヘルドメディアデバイスでは、トラックパッドをコンピュータ又はデバイスのハウジングと同一平面にすることが望ましいとすることができる。
センサ82は、電極層80の下部に配置されて示されているが、他の実施形態では別の場所に位置付けることができる。図示の実施形態のように、センサ82がトラックパッド72の可動部分に位置付けられている場合、入力デバイスは、システムと共に移動可能な可撓性の電気接続部(図示せず)を組み込むことができる。
図示の実施形態では、移動インジケータ78は、電極層80の下部側に取り付けられている。例証として、電極層80がPCB上に位置付けられている場合、移動インジケータ78は、PCBの下部に位置付けることができる。別の実施例では、移動インジケータ78は、タクトスイッチの形態を取ることができ、更に具体的には、SMTドームスイッチ(SMT用にパッケージされたドームスイッチ)とすることができる。
セットスクリュー88は、ニュートラル位置と作動位置との間の距離を変えるように手動調節することができる。1つの実施形態(図示せず)では、セットスクリュー88は、システムにおけるゆるみ又は事前の移動がないように、ニュートラル位置で移動センサ78に直接当接することができる。屈曲ヒンジ86は、トラックパッド72をフレーム76に接続する。屈曲ヒンジ86は、力が加えられたときに屈曲する弾性材料であるが、トラックパッド72をニュートラル位置に戻そうとする回復力を作用させる。1つの実施形態では、屈曲ヒンジ86は、薄いバネ鋼とすることができる。

Claims (16)
- 1つ又は複数のタッチ入力及び1つ又は複数のピック入力を含むユーザ入力データを感知するように構成されたユーザインターフェース入力デバイスと、
前記1つ又は複数の感知されたタッチ入力によって形成されたタッチパターンに応答して、前記感知されたピック入力の少なくとも1つを無視し、前記1つ又は複数の感知されたピック入力に応答して、前記感知されたタッチ入力の少なくとも1つを無視し又は減ずるために、前記ユーザ入力データを修正するように構成された修正モジュールと、を有し、
前記1つ又は複数のタッチ入力は、前記1つ又は複数のピック入力とは独立して検知される、ことを特徴とするデバイス。 - 前記ユーザインターフェース入力デバイスはタッチパネルを有し、
前記修正モジュールは、初めに前記タッチパネルの下部に置かれて、続いて前記下部の外に移動する第1の指タッチ入力と、前記第1の指タッチ入力が前記下部の外に移動する間に移動する第2の指タッチ入力とを示す入力データを受信するように、さらに構成され、
前記修正モジュールは、前記第2の指タッチ入力が予め定められた距離よりも長い距離移動した場合に、前記第1の指タッチ入力を拒否するように、さらに構成されている、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。 - 前記第1の指タッチ入力は、最低経路入力であり、
前記最低経路入力は、低い位置に置かれ静的である複数の同時指タッチ入力から選択された指タッチ入力である、ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のデバイス。 - 前記修正モジュールは、移動する第1の指タッチ入力と、前記第1の指タッチ入力が移動している間に検知される第2の指タッチ入力とを示す入力データを受信するように、さらに構成され、
前記修正モジュールは、前記第1の指タッチ入力が、少なくとも予め定められた時間移動した後、前記第2の指タッチ入力が出現した場合、前記第2の指タッチ入力が出現した時に前記第1の指タッチ入力を拒否するように、さらに構成されている、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。 - 前記第1の指タッチ入力は、最低経路入力であり、
前記最低経路入力は、低い位置に置かれ静的である複数の同時指タッチ入力から選択された指タッチ入力である、ことを特徴とする請求項4に記載のデバイス。 - 前記修正モジュールは、複数の指タッチ入力及びピック入力を示す入力データを受信するように、さらに構成され、
前記修正モジュールは、前記複数の指タッチ入力から最低経路入力を選択し、前記最低経路入力を拒否するように、さらに構成されている、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のデバイス。 - 前記最低経路入力は、
(i)前記ピック入力が進行中であること、及び
(ii)前記最低経路が検知された唯一のタッチではないこと、
の1つ又は両方が真である間、少なくとも拒否される、ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載のデバイス。 - 前記修正モジュールは、続いて、前記ピック入力が以後検知されないことを示す入力データを受信するように、さらに構成され、
前記修正モジュールは、前記最低経路が親指経路であるか否かを確認し、親指経路であることが確認された場合に前記最低経路を拒否し続け、親指経路でないことが確認された場合に前記最低経路を許可するように、さらに構成されている、ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載のデバイス。 - タッチセンシングパネル及び機械的センサを有する組み合わせユーザインターフェースデバイスによって検知されたユーザインターフェース入力を処理する方法であって、
前記機械的センサとは独立して、前記タッチセンシングパネルによって、1つ又は複数のタッチ入力を検知するステップと、
前記機械的センサによって、前記タッチセンシングパネルの物理的な変形又は変位を生ずる1つ又は複数のピック入力を検知するステップと、
前記ユーザインターフェースデバイスから、感知されたタッチ及びピック入力を規定するユーザ入力データを受信するステップと、
前記1つ又は複数の感知されたタッチ入力によって形成されたタッチパターンに応答して、前記感知されたピック入力の少なくとも1つを無視し、前記1つ又は複数の感知されたピック入力に応答して、前記感知されたタッチ入力の少なくとも1つを無視し又は減ずるために、前記ユーザ入力データを修正するステップと、を有することを特徴とする方法。 - 初めに前記タッチパネルの下部に置かれて、続いて前記下部の外に移動する第1の指タッチ入力と、前記第1の指タッチ入力が前記下部の外に移動する間に移動する第2の指タッチ入力とを示す入力データを受信するステップと、
前記第1の指タッチ入力が前記下部に存在した前に、前記第2の指タッチ入力が予め定められた距離よりも長い距離移動したことを確認するステップと、
前記第1の指タッチ入力を拒否するステップと、を有することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。 - さらに、前記第1の指タッチ入力が最低経路入力であることを判定するステップを有し、前記判定は、前記第1の指タッチ入力の高さ及び移動に基づくものであり、
前記第1の指タッチ入力が静的であり、他の指タッチ入力と比較して前記タッチセンシングパネル上の低い位置に置かれていることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の方法。 - さらに、移動する第1の指タッチ入力と、前記第1の指タッチ入力が移動している間に検知される第2の指タッチ入力とを示す入力データを受信するステップと、
前記第1の指タッチ入力が、予め定められた時間移動した後、前記第2の指タッチ入力が出現したことを確認するステップと、
前記第1の指タッチ入力を拒否するステップと、を有することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。 - さらに、前記第1の指タッチ入力が最低経路入力であることを判定するステップを有し、前記判定は、前記第1の指タッチ入力の高さ及び移動に基づくものであり、
前記第1の指タッチ入力が静的であり、他の指タッチ入力と比較して前記タッチセンシングパネル上の低い位置に置かれていることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。 - さらに、複数の指タッチ入力を示す入力データ受信するステップと、
前記複数の指タッチ入力の1つが最低経路入力であることを判定するステップと、
前記ピック入力が進行中である間に前記最低経路入力を拒否するステップと、を有することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。 - (i)前記ピック入力が進行中であること、及び
(ii)前記最低経路が検知された唯一のタッチではないこと、
の1つ又は両方が真である間、少なくとも、前記最低経路入力を拒否し続けることを特徴とする請求項14に記載の方法。 - さらに、前記ピック入力が以後検知されないことを示す入力データを受信するステップと、
前記最低経路が親指経路であるか否かを確認するステップと、
親指経路であることが確認された場合に前記最低経路を拒否し続け、親指経路でないことが確認された場合に前記最低経路を許可するステップと、を有することを特徴とする請求項15に記載の方法。
