Description
本出願は、2005年5月2日に出願された米国特許出願第60/676,828号;及び2006年1月19日に出願された米国特許出願第60/760,073号の優先権を請求する。
少なくとも1つの流体浸透性の最上部シート層及び少なくとも1つの実質的に流体不浸透性の背面シート層;並びに
最上部シート層と背面シート層との間に挿入された吸収性下位層材料を含み、下位層材料は、本発明の処理済みリグノセルロース系材料を含む、物品に関する。
本発明の処理済みリグノセルロース系材料を乾式粉砕して、フラッフ化塩基処理済み木材パルプで構成される吸収性下位層材料を形成することと;
少なくとも1つの流体浸透性の最上部シート層及び少なくとも1つの実質的に流体不浸透性の背面シート層を提供することと;
下位層材料を、最上部シート層と背面シート層との間に挿入することと;を含む方法に関する。
(a)粘度約17cp以下を有し、C6及びC1位でしかしC1位で優勢であるアルデヒド及びアルデヒド型官能基からなる群から選択される還元性末端基を有するパルプを含む水性製紙紙料完成紙料を形成する工程と;
(b)前記完成紙料を製紙装置のフォーミングワイヤの表面に堆積して、湿った紙ウェブを形成する工程と;
(c)前記湿った紙または板紙ウェブを乾燥して、乾燥した紙または板紙を形成する工程と;を含む方法に関する。
試料([50mm]2”直径)を含む15×100mmの無菌のペトリ皿を、10mLの水を含むより大きなペトリ皿の内部に置いて、湿度を増大させ、暴露時間の最中の乾燥を防ぐ。
1)0.5mLの試験培養菌を用いて接種する前に試料を水和させる。
2)“寒天スラリー”を使用しない。
3)試料を2回重複して評価する。
4)試料を、35±2℃で、増湿チャンバ中に、3及び8時間の暴露時間(±10分)保持する。
5)中和剤は、無菌の2oz.ジャー中の、10%のトゥイーン80、3%のレシチン及び0.5%のチオ硫酸ナトリウム、及び0.1%のヒスチジンを有し、pH7.2±0.1の50mL体積のトリプシンソイブロス(I−148)である。
6)中和剤中の試料を1分間音波処理し、続いて、希釈の前に1分間撹拌する。
7)連続希釈物を、9mL体積の2×ディフコ中和緩衝剤(Difco Neutralizing Buffer)によって10−5に作製する。希釈物を、尿素寒天(I−145C)及びマッコンキー寒天(I−090B)を使用してスプレッドプレート方法によって、2回重複して平板培養を用いて、対照のために、10−6に作製する。中和剤中の未希釈の試料(100希釈[50mL])を、1mLを3つのプレートにわたって広げることによって平板培養する。
8)インキュベーションは、尿素寒天の場合に35±2℃で3日間であり、マッコンキー寒天の場合に35±2℃で18〜24時間である。
9)試験生物として大腸菌を使用して、中和剤有効性を試験と同時に行う。
特定の好適な具体例においては、本発明の処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、触媒から得られた結合した金属を含む。結合した金属は、処理済みリグノセルロース系材料の殺菌活性に有益な影響を及ぼすと考えられている。本明細書において使用する“結合した”は、パルプと共に留まり、パルプ洗浄操作によって洗い流されない金属元素を意味する。パルプに結合する金属の性質は、本発明によって向上するイオン相互作用及びパルプ官能基の例えばカルボニルまたはカルボキシル基との錯体形成に関連していることが周知である。結合した金属の量は、一般的な分析方法、例えばICP−原子吸光方法によって決定され、好ましくは少なくとも10ppm、好ましくは約20ppm〜約700ppm、より好ましくは約20ppm〜約150ppm、最も好ましくは約20ppm〜約100ppmである。
漂白済みサザンパインクラフトパルプを、パルプ表面に適用した1%の過酸化水素及び0.03%の硫酸第一鉄を用いて、pH4及び温度75℃で1時間処理した。処理済みパルプを次に脱イオン水を用いて洗浄し、紙シートにし、乾燥した。処理済みパルプの粘度、銅価及びカルボキシル価を前述の手順を使用して決定した。パルプの粘度は6.2cpだった。パルプの銅価は4.5だった。パルプのカルボキシル価は5.5meq/100gだった。パルプをまた評価して、結合した金属の量を決定した。試料は、パルプ表面に結合した、水によって洗い流されない43.4ppmのFeを含む。パルプの細菌阻害特性を、本明細書において上記に述べた手順を使用して評価した。細菌阻害試験結果を下記の表1に示した。
漂白済みサザンパインクラフトパルプを、パルプ表面に適用した1%の過酸化水素及び0.03%の硫酸銅を用いて、pH4及び温度80℃で1時間処理した。パルプの粘度は5.7だった。パルプの銅価は4.6だった。パルプのカルボキシル価は4.1meq/100gだった。処理済みパルプを脱イオン水を用いて洗浄し、紙シートにし、乾燥した。試料は、パルプ表面に結合した90.8ppmのCuを含む。
漂白済みサザンパインパルプを、銅または鉄触媒過酸化水素酸化を用いて、pH4及び80℃で1時間処理した。処理済みパルプを次に脱イオン水を用いて洗浄し、実験室規模のカマスミルによって繊維化するために乾燥パルプシートにした。この実施例においては、1%及び2%の過酸化物を使用し、触媒量も変化させた。パルプを、アンモニア臭気制御に関して、上記に説明した手順を使用して試験した。結果を下記の表2に示す。
酸化剤の無い状態で適用した低い用量(実施例3におけるように)及び非常に高い用量の両方の金属を用いて、金属を80℃、pH4で1時間適用して実験を行った。パルプを、アンモニア臭気制御対対照としての未処理のパルプに関して、上記に説明した手順を使用して試験した。結果を下記の表4に示す。
金属を80℃、pH4で1時間適用して実験を行った。パルプの粘度を決定し、パルプを、アンモニア臭気制御対対照としての未処理のパルプに関して、上記に説明した手順を使用して試験した。結果を下記の表5に示す。
この実施例は、特に本発明の好ましいpH範囲内での金属触媒過酸化物処理の湿潤強さの利益を証明するためのものである。漂白済みサザンパインクラフトパルプを、2%及び3%の過酸化水素と0.03%の硫酸第一鉄を用いて80℃で1時間処理した。pH範囲を反応の終りにpH4からpH10に変化させた。標準的な1.2グラムのタッピ手すき紙をTappi T 205 sp−02の手順を使用して製造し、乾燥引張強さ、乾燥引裂強さ及び湿潤引張強さをそれぞれTappi T 494 om−01、Tappi T414 om−01及びTappi T 456 om−03の手順を使用して決定した。引張湿潤/乾燥強度値を、決定した乾燥引張強さ、乾燥引裂強さ及び湿潤引張強さ値から計算した。結果を下記の表6に示した。
処理済みパルプの乾燥は、繊維表面に生成したカルボキシル基を減少しよう。これは、処理済みパルプは1回乾燥されるのみであると思われる統合された紙/板紙の場合または乾燥フラッフパルプ及び乾燥形成の場合には関連がないと思われる。しかしながら、これは、乾燥した処理済みパルプを購入し、次に再スラッシュし、湿式方法によって再度紙製品にし、再度乾燥する紙またはティッシュ/タオルケースに影響を及ぼすと思われる。パルプカルボキシル含有量に関する乾燥の結果を下記の表7に示す。
未漂白のクラフトパルプを使用して、褐色パルプに関する湿潤強さの改良を同様に証明した。褐色高カッパーパルプを、2%の過酸化物、0.04%の硫酸第一鉄を用いてpH4及び80℃で1時間処理した。処理済みパルプ及び未処理のパルプ対照をヴァレービーターによってリファイニングし、300gsmの正方形の手すき紙にし、ウェットプレスし、フラットベッド乾燥機表面で乾燥した。シート湿潤強さに及ぼす影響を下記の表8に示す。
湿ったサザンパインクラフトパルプを、1%の過酸化水素を用い、pH4で、パルプ表面に適用した0.02%の硫酸第一鉄を用いて処理した。処理を、ミル規模で漂白プラントにおいて80℃で1時間行った。実験室において行った別の処理においては、3%の過酸化物を0.04%の硫酸第一鉄と共に80℃で2時間使用した。処理済みパルプ及び対照(製造)パルプを、リファイニング無しで、カルボニル及びカルボキシル基に関して試験した。結果を以下の表9に示した。
実施例10
ミル乾燥した市販のサザンパインクラフトパルプを再パルプ化してパルプスラリーにした。このパルプを、2%の過酸化水素を用い、pH4で、0.04%の硫酸第一鉄を用いて温度80℃で1時間処理した。処理済み及び未処理のパルプの銅価を決定した。結果を以下の表10に述べる。
実施例11
実施例11におけるように、パルプスラリーを、1%の過酸化水素と0.02%の硫酸第一鉄を用いてpH4、80℃で1時間処理した。銅価は0.23から5.3に増大した。処理済みパルプ及び対照パルプの両方を高電荷密度ポリビニルアミンでさらに処理し、Tappi T 205 sp−02の手順を使用して製造したタッピ手すき紙に形成した。手すき紙の坪量及び厚さを、それぞれTappi T 410 om−02及びTappi T 411 om−05の手順によって決定し、対照及び処理済みパルプの嵩を、坪量及びカリファー(calipher)から計算した。結果を以下の表11に述べる。
湿った漂白済みサザンパインクラフトパルプを、1%の過酸化水素及び0.02%の硫酸第一鉄を用いてpH4で1時間80℃で処理した。処理済みパルプ及び対照パルプの両方を、ウイリアムス手すき紙(Williams hand sheet)にした。乾燥した手すき紙を次に、実験室規模のカマスミルによってフラッフ化した。液体吸収容量を試験した(SCAN方法)。結果を以下の表12に述べる。
実施例13
“マーセル化クラフトパルプ”を、サザンパインクラフトパルプをカセイ溶液(10%濃度)を用いて5分温度40℃で処理することによって形成した。“マーセル化パルプ”は、0.02%の硫酸第一鉄の存在下でpH4及び80℃で1時間、1%の過酸化水素を用いた。ろ水度処理済み及び未処理のマーセル化パルプを、Tappi T 227 om−99の手順によって評価し、処理済み及び未処理のマーセル化パルプの平均繊維長をカジャンニ(Kajanni)によって決定した。処理済み及び未処理のマーセル化パルプを、Tappi T 205 sp−02の手順を使用してタッピ手すき紙に形成し、手すき紙の坪量及び内部結合を、それぞれTappi T 410 om−02及びTappi T 569 om−00の手順によって決定した。嵩を、上記に説明したように、厚さ及び坪量から計算した。結果を以下の表13に述べる。
酸素脱リグニン済みサザンパインクラフトパルプを、セルロース酵素(ジェネンコル(Genencor)からのマルチフェクトA40(Multifect A40))を用いて、パルプ表面の用量0.2%で処理した。この酵素処理済みパルプをさらに、1.5%の過酸化水素と0.02%の硫酸第一鉄を用いてpH4及び温度80℃で1時間処理した。処理済み及び未処理のマーセル化パルプのろ水度及び平均繊維長を、実施例において上記で使用した手順によって決定した。処理済み及び未処理のパルプを繊維質ウェブに形成し、ウェブフラッフを、カマス実験室規模ハンマミルを使用して粉砕した。フラッフ粉砕エネルギーを決定した。結果を表14に示す。
0.04%の硫酸第一鉄を用いてpH4で1時間温度80℃で低コストの2%活性化過酸化物処理をされたライナーボード等級サザンパインクラフト(カッパー110)。処理済みパルプのろ水度を、上記の実施例において説明した手順を使用して決定した。比較のために、80%の未処理の広葉樹材/20%の未処理のサザンパインの混合物のろ水度も評価した。100%の処理済みサザンパインから形成した、及び、80%の未処理の広葉樹材/20%の未処理のサザンパインの混合物から形成したタッピ手すき紙を評価して、それぞれガーレー有孔度(Tappi T 536 om−02)及び平均PHST(フェノール樹脂液体を用いたTappi T 530 om−02)を決定した。結果を以下の表15に述べる。
実施例16
漂白済みサザンパインクラフトパルプを、2%の過酸化水素と0.02%の硫酸第一鉄とそれぞれpH4、pH7、及びpH12で混合した。1%濃度でパルプは室温で一定の撹拌下にあった。石英プレートをパルプスラリーの上に置いた。ベンチトップPS2紫外装置(中圧水銀灯)を使用して、パルプスラリーに石英プレートを通して照射した。15分のUV照射をこうした処理において使用した。UV照射の後に、過酸化物残留分は検出されなかった。パルプ温度は処理によって上昇しなかった。パルプ粘度は、pH4の場合に3.2cp、pH7の場合に3.9cp、及びpH10の場合に10.6cpだった。pH7で処理したパルプは、6.2の銅価を有する。
実施例18
漂白済みサザンパインクラフトパルプを、鉄、銅、または組み合わせたFe/Cu触媒と過酸化水素を用いてpH4及び80℃で1.5時間処理した。処理済みパルプ及び対照パルプをpH6に洗浄し、乾燥シートにした。乾燥シートを次に、先に説明したようにハンマミルによってフラッフ化し、アンモニア吸着に関して試験した。アンモニア吸収の結果を以下の表17に下記に示した。
Claims (15)
- パーソナル衛生物品のために有用な吸収性複合体の製造方法であって、
10cps以下の粘度を有する処理済みリグノセルロース系材料を乾式粉砕して、フラッフ化塩基処理済み木材パルプを含む吸収性下位層材料を形成すること;
少なくとも1つの流体浸透性の最上部シート層及び少なくとも1つの実質的に流体不浸透性の背面シート層を提供すること;及び
該下位層材料を、該最上部シート層と該背面シート層との間に挿入すること
を含み、
該処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、アルデヒド官能基、ヘミアセタール官能基及びこれらの組合せからなる群から選択される官能基を含み、そして
該処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、2〜6のpHにおいてリグノセルロース系材料に該リグノセルロース系材料の0.01〜0.1重量%の触媒を該リグノセルロース系材料の0.5〜5重量%の酸化剤の存在下において、加えることによって該リグノセルロース系材料を処理して、該処理済みリグノセルロース系材料を形成する(ただし、その処理後にリファイニングしない)ことを含む工程によって製造され、ここで該触媒は銅、鉄、亜鉛、コバルト、ニッケル、マンガン、タングステン、ジルコニウム、セリウム、クロム及びこれらの組合せより選択される遷移金属を含み、そして該酸化剤は過酸化水素、次亜塩素酸塩、次亜塩素酸及びこれらの任意の組合せからなる群から選択される、
上記の方法。 - 前記リグノセルロース系材料は木材パルプである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、銅価3以上を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、銅価4.4以上を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、銅価5以上を有する、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、銅価5.5以上を有する、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、3.5meq/100グラムのオーブン乾燥した処理済み材料、以上のカルボキシ価を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、4meq/100グラムのオーブン乾燥した処理済み材料、以上のカルボキシ価を有する、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、5meq/100グラムのオーブン乾燥した処理済み材料、以上のカルボキシ価を有する、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、5.5meq/100グラムのオーブン乾燥した処理済み材料、以上のカルボキシ価を有する、請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、粘度2〜7cpsを有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、等しい量の未処理のリグノセルロース系材料と比較して、50%多いアンモニアを吸収するか、吸着するかまたは吸収し及び吸着する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、等しい量の未処理のリグノセルロース系材料と比較して、60%多いアンモニアを吸収するか、吸着するかまたは吸収し及び吸着する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、等しい量の未処理のリグノセルロース系材料と比較して、80%多いアンモニアを吸収するか、吸着するかまたは吸収し及び吸着する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記処理済みリグノセルロース系材料は、等しい量の未処理のリグノセルロース系材料と比較して、90%以上多いアンモニアを吸収するか、吸着するかまたは吸収し及び吸着する、請求項1に記載の方法。
