Description
The present invention relates to a metal member for a solid oxide fuel cell, and more particularly, a solid oxide fuel cell having a protective coating containing an alkaline earth metal oxide on the surface of a metal substrate containing chromium. The present invention relates to a metal member, an interconnector for a solid oxide fuel cell, and a manufacturing method thereof.
In recent years, solid oxide fuel cells have been able to be operated (power generation) at a relatively low temperature (800 to 600 ° C.) with an improvement in the performance of cells that are power generation elements.
As the operating temperature is lowered, heat-resistant metal materials can be used for components such as separators for solid oxide fuel cells, which conventionally use ceramic materials.
The heat-resistant metal material is, for example, stainless steel containing nickel or a nickel-based alloy. Specific examples include ferritic stainless steel, Inconel (registered trademark), Hastelloy (registered trademark), and the like.
On the other hand, it is known that chromium and chromium oxide contained in the heat resistant alloy material volatilize (evaporate) in an operating (power generation) environment.
Further, it is known that when volatile (evaporated) chromium or the like reaches a cell as a power generation element, the property of the cell is changed and the cell performance is deteriorated.
As an example of such an aspect of cell performance degradation, the following specific examples can be given.
Lanthanum-strontium-manganese oxide, lanthanum-strontium-cobalt oxide, samarium-strontium-cobalt oxide and the like are generally used as air electrode materials.
When strontium oxide contained in such an air electrode material reacts with chromium or chromium oxide, strontium chromate is generated. Since this compound is inactive in oxygen reduction activity and conductivity, cell performance is said to deteriorate.
。 Solid oxide fuel cell separator in which a titanium nitride (TiN) coating layer is formed on the surface of the chromium-containing metal by sputtering in order to suppress the volatilization (evaporation) of chromium and chromium oxide from the chromium-containing metal. Has been proposed (see Patent Document 1).
。 Further, in order to suppress the volatilization (evaporation) of chromium and chromium oxide from the chromium-containing metal, a solid oxide fuel cell interface in which a conductive protective film of manganese-cobalt oxide is formed on the surface of the chromium-containing metal. A connector has been proposed (see Non-Patent Document 1).
However, only by forming a dense coating layer or conductive protective film like the solid oxide fuel cell separator or interconnector described in
The present invention has been made in view of such problems of the prior art, and the object of the present invention is to provide solid oxidation that can suppress or prevent deterioration of cell performance caused by chromium, chromium oxide, or the like. The object is to provide a metal member for a physical fuel cell, an interconnector for a solid oxide fuel cell, and a method for manufacturing the same.
As a result of intensive studies to achieve the above object, the present inventor can achieve the above object by forming a protective film containing an alkaline earth metal oxide on the surface of a metal substrate containing chromium. As a result, the present invention has been completed.
That is, the metal member for a solid oxide fuel cell of the present invention comprises a metal base material containing chromium, and a protective coating containing an alkaline earth metal oxide formed on the surface of the metal base material , The protective coating is characterized by being a protective coating in a glass state containing aluminum oxide and silicon oxide .
In addition, an interconnector for a solid oxide fuel cell according to the present invention includes a metal separator containing chromium, a metal current collector electrically connected to the metal separator, the surface of the metal separator, and the metal.

According to the present invention, since a protective coating containing an alkaline earth metal oxide is formed on the surface of a metal substrate containing chromium, the deterioration of cell performance caused by chromium or chromium oxide is suppressed. It is possible to provide a metal member for a solid oxide fuel cell, an interconnector for a solid oxide fuel cell, and a method for manufacturing the same.
Hereinafter, the metal member for a solid oxide fuel cell of the present invention will be described in detail.
As described above, the metal member for a solid oxide fuel cell according to the present invention includes a metal substrate containing chromium, and a protective coating formed on the surface of the metal substrate and containing an alkaline earth metal oxide. It is.
The protective coating not only suppresses the volatilization (evaporation) of chromium and chromium oxide from the metal substrate containing chromium, but also the alkaline earth metal oxide contained in the protective coating captures chromium and chromium oxide. Therefore, deterioration of cell performance caused by chromium, chromium oxide or the like can be suppressed or prevented.
Barium oxide, which is an example of an alkaline earth metal oxide, captures chromium and the like as barium chromate. The strontium oxide captures chromium and the like as strontium chromate.
On the other hand, since the conventional dense coating layer and conductive protective film cannot capture volatile (evaporated) chromium or the like from gaps such as cracks, the cell performance deteriorates.
In addition, when the protective film was measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the formation of barium chromate on the surface of the protective film among the metal substrate interface of the protective film, the inside of the protective film, and the surface of the protective film Since the amount was large, it is presumed that, for example, chromium that has volatilized (evaporated) is captured from gaps such as inevitable cracks at the present time.
Examples of the alkaline earth metal oxide include beryllium oxide, magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, strontium oxide, and barium oxide. Any of these may be included, and two or more may be included.
For example, the barium oxide is preferably contained in the protective film at a rate of 30 to 60 atomic%, and more preferably contained at a rate of 40 to 50 atomic%. When the ratio of barium oxide is less than 30 atomic%, the coefficient of thermal expansion decreases, and when formed on the surface of stainless steel or the like, it causes peeling. On the other hand, when the proportion of barium oxide exceeds 60 atomic%, the film strength of the protective film decreases.
Moreover, it is preferable that the calcium oxide is contained in the protective film in a proportion of 1 to 30 atomic%, and more preferably in a proportion of 2 to 20 atomic%. When the ratio of calcium oxide is less than 1 atomic%, the coefficient of thermal expansion decreases, and when formed on the surface of stainless steel or the like, it causes peeling. On the other hand, when the proportion of calcium oxide exceeds 30 atomic%, the film strength decreases.
Furthermore, when both barium oxide and calcium oxide are contained, it is preferable from the viewpoint of thermal expansion and film strength.
Further, as the protective film, that apply a protective coating of glass state, including aluminum oxide or silicon oxide in addition to the A alkaline earth metal oxides.
Usually, the thermal expansion coefficient of a ceramic material constituting a conventional dense coating layer or conductive protective film has a significant difference from the thermal expansion coefficient of a metal base material. By adjusting the composition, the coefficient of thermal expansion can be made substantially coincident with the coefficient of thermal expansion of the metal substrate.
Note that a glassy protective film having such a composition can be formed relatively easily. Moreover, it is an inexpensive material compared with a ceramic material that forms a dense coating layer or a conductive protective film.
Furthermore, specific examples of the protective coating include, for example, barium oxide (BaO) of 30 to 60 atomic%, preferably 35 to 50 atomic%, and calcium oxide (CaO) of 1 to 30 atomic%, preferably 3-10 atomic%, aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ) 2-6 atomic%, preferably 3-5 atomic%, silicon oxide (SiO 2 ) 15-45 atomic%, preferably 15-25 A protective film in a glass state containing 1% to 10% by atom, preferably 3 to 10% by atom of boron oxide (B 2 O 3 ) can be given. In addition, you may contain other compounds (for example, magnesia, vanadium oxide, etc.) in the range which does not inhibit the performance as a protective film.
The protective coating in a glass state having such a composition can further suppress or prevent deterioration of cell performance caused by chromium, chromium oxide or the like.
Furthermore, specific examples of the protective coating include a protective coating in which the difference between the thermal expansion coefficient of the protective coating and the thermal expansion coefficient of the metal substrate is 5 × 10 −7 K −1 or less. be able to.
With such a difference in coefficient of thermal expansion, new cracks are unlikely to occur, and cell performance deterioration caused by chromium, chromium oxide, or the like can be further suppressed or prevented.
Moreover, as said metal base material, the stainless steel which contains chromium (Cr) in the ratio of 15-30 mass% can be mentioned, for example.
When the ratio of chromium is less than 15% by mass, heat resistance and oxidation resistance may be inferior. On the other hand, when the ratio of chromium exceeds 30% by mass, there is a problem in price and workability.
Although not particularly limited, it is desirable to use ferritic stainless steel. Moreover, as a metal base material, it is not limited to this, Various heat resistant alloys, such as a nickel base alloy containing chromium, can be applied.
Moreover, the metal member for solid oxide fuel cells of the present invention can be provided with a conductive film formed on the surface of the metal substrate and containing a conductive material.
By having a conductive film containing such a conductive material, it can be suitably used for a portion that needs to ensure conductivity.
Examples of the conductive material include silver, copper, and alloys containing these, but are not necessarily limited thereto. That is, for example, platinum, palladium, a mixed material of silver and ceramics, or the like can be applied.
Furthermore, as the conductive film, for example, a conductive film containing an alkaline earth metal oxide can be applied.
By having a conductive film containing such an alkaline earth metal oxide, cracks between the protective film and the conductive film are less likely to occur, and cell performance is deteriorated due to chromium, chromium oxide, or the like. It can be further suppressed or prevented.
Here, examples of the metal member for a solid oxide fuel cell include a separator, a current collector, and an interconnector, but are not necessarily limited thereto. That is, for example, the gas vent pipe metal substrate containing chromium is exposed to a high-temperature environment where chromium and chromium oxide can volatilize (evaporate), and the vaporized (evaporated) chromium can reach the air electrode material. The present invention can also be applied to a metal member constituting such an air flow path.
