本発明による燃料電池システムは、燃料電池と、燃料電池に流動性のある電解質を含む第1の流動体を供給する電解質供給部と、燃料電池に燃料を含む第2の流動体を供給する燃料供給部とを備え、燃料電池は、対向配置された燃料電極および酸素電極と、燃料電極と酸素電極との間に設けられると共に電解質供給部に連結され、第1の流動体を流通させる電解質流路と、燃料電極の酸素電極とは反対側に設けられると共に燃料供給部に連結され、第2の流動体を流通させる燃料流路とを有し、第1の流動体は、イオン交換樹脂により構成され、イオン伝導性を有するイオン性固体と、イオン性固体を分散させる分散媒とを含むものである。
図1は本発明の第1の実施の形態に係る燃料電池システムを有する電子機器の概略構成を表すものである。この電子機器は、例えば、携帯電話やPDA(Personal Digital Assistant;個人用携帯情報機器)などのモバイル機器、またはノート型PC(Personal Computer )であり、燃料電池システム1と、この燃料電池システム1で発電される電気エネルギーにより駆動される外部回路(負荷)2とを備えている。
燃料電極10:CH3 OH+H2 O→CO2 +6e- +6H+
酸素電極20:(3/2)O2 +6e- +6H+ →3H2 O
燃料電池110全体:CH3 OH+(3/2)O2 →CO2 +2H2 O
図3は、本発明の第2の実施の形態に係る燃料電池110Aの構成を表すものである。この燃料電池110Aは、燃料流路40と燃料電極10との間に気液分離膜50が設けられていることを除いては、第1の実施の形態で説明した燃料電池110と同一の構成を有している。よって、対応する構成要素には同一の符号を付して説明する。
得られた燃料電池システム1について、電気化学測定装置(ソーラートロン社製、マルチスタット1480)に接続し、特性評価を行った。その際、定電流(20mA,50mA,100mA,150mA,200mA,250mA)モードの動作を行わせ、測定初期における開回路電圧(OCV;Open Circuit Voltage)、並びにI−V(電流−電圧)およびI−P(電流−電力)特性を調べた。その結果を図4および図5にそれぞれ示す。
Claims (3)
- 対向配置された燃料電極および酸素電極と、
前記燃料電極と前記酸素電極との間に設けられ、流動性のある電解質を含む第1の流動体を流通させる電解質流路と、
前記燃料電極の前記酸素電極とは反対側に設けられ、燃料を含む第2の流動体を流通させる燃料流路と
を備え、
前記第1の流動体は、
イオン交換樹脂により構成され、イオン伝導性を有するイオン性固体と、
前記イオン性固体を分散させる分散媒と
を含む燃料電池。 - 前記燃料電極は、前記第1の流動体と前記第2の流動体とを隔てる分離膜である
請求項1記載の燃料電池。 - 燃料電池と、
前記燃料電池に流動性のある電解質を含む第1の流動体を供給する電解質供給部と、
前記燃料電池に燃料を含む第2の流動体を供給する燃料供給部と
を備え、
前記燃料電池は、
対向配置された燃料電極および酸素電極と、
前記燃料電極と前記酸素電極との間に設けられると共に前記電解質供給部に連結され、前記第1の流動体を流通させる電解質流路と、
前記燃料電極の前記酸素電極とは反対側に設けられると共に前記燃料供給部に連結され、前記第2の流動体を流通させる燃料流路と
を有し、
前記第1の流動体は、
イオン交換樹脂により構成され、イオン伝導性を有するイオン性固体と、
前記イオン性固体を分散させる分散媒と
を含む燃料電池システム。
