Description

本発明は内部抵抗を低減でき、かつサイクル特性に優れた正極活物質に関する。   The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material that can reduce internal resistance and has excellent cycle characteristics.

近年におけるパソコン、ビデオカメラ及び携帯電話等の情報関連機器や通信機器等の急速な普及に伴い、その電源として優れた二次電池、例えば、リチウム二次電池の開発が重要視されている。また、上記情報関連機器や通信関連機器以外の分野としては、例えば自動車産業界においても、低公害車としての電気自動車やハイブリッド自動車用の高出力かつ高容量のリチウム二次電池の開発が進められている。   With the rapid spread of information-related equipment and communication equipment such as personal computers, video cameras, and mobile phones in recent years, the development of secondary batteries that are excellent as power sources, such as lithium secondary batteries, has been regarded as important. In fields other than the information-related equipment and communication-related equipment, for example, in the automobile industry, the development of high-power and high-capacity lithium secondary batteries for electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles as low-emission vehicles has been promoted. ing.

しかしながら、現在市販されているリチウム二次電池は、有機溶剤を溶媒とする有機電解液が使用されている。このようなリチウム二次電池においては、正極活物質と電解質液とが接触して反応するため、充放電を繰り返すと、正極活物質、電解質液が劣化していき、充電、放電する電気量が減少し、サイクル特性が低下してしまうという問題があった。   However, an organic electrolytic solution using an organic solvent as a solvent is used for a lithium secondary battery currently on the market. In such a lithium secondary battery, since the positive electrode active material and the electrolyte solution are in contact with each other and react, when the charge and discharge are repeated, the positive electrode active material and the electrolyte solution are deteriorated, and the amount of electricity to be charged and discharged is reduced. There was a problem that the cycle characteristics deteriorated.

Therefore, in order to improve the durability and cycle characteristics of such a lithium secondary battery, for example, in Patent Document 1, a lithium cobaltate active material whose surface is coated with zirconium oxide and a cobalt oxide by a solution method using zirconium oxide. And a method for coating a lithium active material surface. This is because zirconium oxide can prevent deterioration during high-voltage charge / discharge. However, since the zirconium oxide coats the entire active material uniformly, and there are no gaps in the coated portion, the lithium ion diffusion rate is lowered, etc. It may be difficult to move ions.
In addition, metal oxides with high surface acidity such as zirconium oxide can improve lithium ion conductivity, but such metal oxides are uniformly coated on the entire active material without any gaps. Therefore, the effect of promoting lithium ion conduction by coating with a metal oxide having a high surface acidity cannot be sufficiently obtained.
For this reason, there existed a problem that the internal resistance of a lithium secondary battery will rise.

本発明は、上記問題点に鑑みてなされたものであり、内部抵抗を低減でき、かつサイクル特性に優れた正極活物質の製造方法を提供することを主目的とするものである。   The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and a main object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a positive electrode active material capable of reducing internal resistance and having excellent cycle characteristics.

In order to achieve the above object, in the present invention, a fine particle attaching step of attaching fine particles to the surface of the positive electrode active material to obtain a fine particle attached positive electrode active material, and the whole surface of the fine particle attached positive electrode active material are represented by the general formula M 1. O x (metal M 1 is composed of zirconium (Zr), niobium (Nb), titanium (Ti), tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), aluminum (Al), gallium (Ga), and boron (B). A metal oxide full-surface coating step of forming a metal oxide full-coated positive electrode active material by coating with a metal oxide represented by (at least one selected from the group), and the metal oxide The metal oxide coating layer is formed from the surface of the positive electrode active material into the metal oxide coating layer by mechanically applying shear stress to the positive electrode active material covering the entire surface to remove the fine particles by sliding down. Forming a capable hole movement of lithium ions in communication to the surface, to provide a method of manufacturing a positive electrode active material, characterized in that it comprises a particulate removal step to obtain a metal oxide portions coated positive electrode active material, the.

According to the present invention, a hole (hereinafter sometimes referred to as a communication hole) capable of moving lithium ions communicating from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer is formed in the metal oxide coating layer. Is done. For this reason, lithium ions can move through the communication holes, and the effect of promoting lithium ion conduction by the metal oxide having a high surface acidity can be sufficiently obtained, and the internal resistance can be reduced. Further, the surface of the positive electrode active material is partially covered with a metal oxide represented by the general formula M 1 O x , thereby effectively suppressing deterioration of the positive electrode active material due to reaction with an electrolytic solution or the like. Characteristics can be improved.

また、本発明においては、上記微粒子が、正極活物質微粒子であることが好ましい。後述する微粒子除去工程後に、正極活物質表面に残存した場合においても、不具合、悪影響を及ぼす可能性が充分低く、内部抵抗を低減でき、かつサイクル特性に優れた所望の正極活物質をより確実に得ることができるからである。   In the present invention, the fine particles are preferably positive electrode active material fine particles. Even if it remains on the surface of the positive electrode active material after the fine particle removal process described later, the possibility of adverse effects and adverse effects is sufficiently low, the internal resistance can be reduced, and the desired positive electrode active material excellent in cycle characteristics can be more reliably obtained. Because it can be obtained.

本発明においては、金属酸化物被覆層中のリチウムイオンの移動を可能として内部抵抗の上昇を抑制し、かつ電解液等との反応による正極活物質の劣化を効果的に抑制してサイクル特性を向上させた金属酸化物被覆正極活物質を得ることができるという効果を奏する。   In the present invention, it is possible to move lithium ions in the metal oxide coating layer to suppress an increase in internal resistance, and to effectively suppress deterioration of the positive electrode active material due to a reaction with an electrolytic solution, etc. There is an effect that an improved metal oxide-coated positive electrode active material can be obtained.

本発明の正極活物質の製造方法について、以下詳細に説明する。   The method for producing the positive electrode active material of the present invention will be described in detail below.

The method for producing the positive electrode active material of the present invention will be described in detail below.
In the method for producing a positive electrode active material of the present invention, the fine particle adhesion step of obtaining fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material by attaching fine particles to the surface of the positive electrode active material, and the whole surface of the fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material are represented by the general formula M 1 O x (metal M 1 is zirconium (Zr), niobium (Nb), titanium (Ti), tungsten (W), from the group consisting of molybdenum (Mo), aluminum (Al), gallium (Ga), and boron (B) A metal oxide whole surface coating step of forming a metal oxide whole surface coating positive electrode active material by coating with a metal oxide represented by at least one selected from the above, and the metal oxide whole surface The coated positive electrode active material is mechanically sheared to remove the fine particles by sliding down, and communicated from the positive electrode active material surface to the metal oxide coating layer surface in the metal oxide coating layer. To form a movement capable hole of lithium ions and is characterized by having a particulate removal step to obtain a metal oxide portions coated positive electrode active material, the.

According to the present invention, through the above steps, a communication hole is formed in the metal oxide coating layer that can move lithium ions communicating from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer. For this reason, lithium ions can move from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer in the communication hole. In addition, the effect of promoting lithium ion conduction by the metal oxide having high surface acidity can be sufficiently obtained, and the lithium ion conductivity is improved. For example, in the coating part of the metal oxide part-coated positive electrode active material, Insertion and desorption of lithium ions, diffusion of lithium ions in the positive electrode active material, and insertion and desorption of lithium ions in the uncoated portion of the metal oxide partially coated positive electrode active material are facilitated, thereby reducing internal resistance. Can be reduced. Furthermore, the surface of the positive electrode active material is partially covered with the metal oxide represented by the above general formula M 1 O x to effectively suppress decomposition and deterioration of the electrolytic solution, the positive electrode active material, and the like. And cycle characteristics can be improved.

このような本発明の正極活物質の製造方法としては、具体的には次のような工程を経ることにより、正極活物質を得ることができる。
例えば、まず、微粒子付着工程によって、正極活物質と微粒子とを、乳鉢等を用いて圧力をかけながら混合するなどして、図1(a)に例示する模式的な概略断面図で示すように、正極活物質1表面に微粒子2が付着した微粒子付着正極活物質3を得ることができる。
As such a method for producing a positive electrode active material of the present invention, specifically, a positive electrode active material can be obtained through the following steps.
For example, first, as shown in the schematic cross-sectional view illustrated in FIG. 1A, the positive electrode active material and the fine particles are mixed by applying a pressure using a mortar or the like in the fine particle adhesion step. Thus, the fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material 3 in which the fine particles 2 are adhered to the surface of the positive electrode active material 1 can be obtained.

上記微粒子付着工程の後、金属酸化物全面被覆工程が行われる。上記金属酸化物全面被覆工程においては、CVD法を用いるなどして、図1(b)に例示する模式的な概略断面図で示すように、上記微粒子付着正極活物質3の表面全面を、上記一般式Mで表される金属酸化物により被覆して金属酸化物被覆層4を形成した金属酸化物全面被覆正極活物質5を得ることができる。 After the fine particle attaching step, a metal oxide whole surface covering step is performed. In the metal oxide entire surface covering step, the entire surface of the fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material 3 is formed on the entire surface of the fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material 3 as shown in the schematic cross-sectional view illustrated in FIG. A metal oxide-covered positive electrode active material 5 coated with a metal oxide represented by the general formula M 1 O x to form the metal oxide coating layer 4 can be obtained.

Next, a fine particle removal step is performed. In the fine particle removal step, the metal oxide full-surface-covered positive electrode active material 5 obtained in the metal oxide full-surface coating step is inserted with a ball into a predetermined pot, for example, and then ball milled at a predetermined rotation speed. By applying a shearing stress mechanically, the fine particles are slid down and removed, and the metal oxide coating layer 4 includes the above-described metal oxide coating layer 4 as shown in a schematic cross-sectional view illustrated in FIG. A hole 6 capable of moving lithium ions communicating from the surface of the positive electrode active material 1 to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer 4 is formed, and the metal oxide partially coated positive electrode active material 7 can be obtained.

The metal oxide partially coated positive electrode active material 7 illustrated in FIG. 1C of the present invention is a metal oxide having no communication hole in the metal oxide coating layer as illustrated in FIG. Compared with the conventional metal oxide-coated positive electrode active material 8 in which the coating layer 4 is coated on the entire surface of the positive electrode active material 1, it has holes 6 through which lithium ions can move. For this reason, internal resistance can be reduced by the effect of the lithium ion movement in such a communicating hole and the lithium ion conduction promotion effect by the metal oxide having high surface acidity. Further, the deterioration of the positive electrode active material 1 can be effectively suppressed by the metal oxide coating layer 4 that is partially coated.

In such method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material, by adhering fine particles on the surface of the cathode active material, particulate deposition step of obtaining fine particles adhered positive electrode active material, the fine particles adhering cathode active material over the entire surface, the above-mentioned general formula M 1 O forming a metal oxide coating layer by coating with a metal oxide represented by x to obtain a metal oxide full coating positive electrode active material; The fine particles are slid down and removed by applying a shear stress to form a hole in the metal oxide coating layer that allows lithium ions to move from the positive electrode active material surface to the metal oxide coating layer surface. And it will not specifically limit if it is a manufacturing method which has the fine particle removal process of obtaining a metal oxide partial covering positive electrode active material, You may have another process.
Hereinafter, each process in the manufacturing method of the positive electrode active material of this invention is demonstrated in detail.

1.微粒子付着工程
まず、本発明における微粒子付着工程について説明する。本発明における微粒子付着工程とは、正極活物質表面に微粒子を付着させて、微粒子付着正極活物質を得る工程である。
1. First, the fine particle adhesion step in the present invention will be described. The fine particle adhesion step in the present invention is a step of obtaining a fine particle-attached positive electrode active material by attaching fine particles to the surface of the positive electrode active material.

本工程を経ることにより、正極活物質表面に所望の量の微粒子を付着させた、微粒子付着正極活物質を得ることができる。例えば、上述した図1(a)の模式的な概略断面図に例示するように、正極活物質1表面に微粒子2が付着した微粒子付着正極活物質3を得ることができる。   By passing through this step, a fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material in which a desired amount of fine particles are adhered to the surface of the positive electrode active material can be obtained. For example, as illustrated in the schematic schematic cross-sectional view of FIG. 1A described above, the fine particle-attached positive electrode active material 3 in which the fine particles 2 are attached to the surface of the positive electrode active material 1 can be obtained.

In this step, the method for attaching the fine particles is not particularly limited as long as the fine particles can be attached to the surface of the positive electrode active material. For example, it may be attached by mechanical physical force using a mortar, ball mill or the like, or may be attached by a chemical method such as a sol-gel method. Especially, it is preferable to make it adhere with mechanical physical forces, such as a mortar and a ball mill. This is because the bond between the fine particles and the positive electrode active material is weaker than when the particles are attached by a chemical method, and the fine particles can be easily removed in the fine particle removal step described later. In particular, it is preferable to adhere using a ball mill. It is because it is excellent in productivity.

The fine particles used in this step do not react with the positive electrode active material, and when left on the positive electrode active material surface after the fine particle removal step, which will be described later, do not adversely affect the electrolyte etc. There is no particular limitation as long as the fine particles can adhere to the surface. Examples thereof include inorganic material-based fine particles and organic material-based fine particles. Among them, inorganic material fine particles are preferable. This is because, in the fine particle removal step described later, there is a low possibility that problems such as the fine particles strongly sticking to the surface of the positive electrode active material and difficult to remove.

Examples of the inorganic material-based fine particles include positive electrode active material fine particles and metal oxide fine particles. Such fine particles are less likely to have problems and adverse effects even when fine particles remain on the surface of the positive electrode active material after the fine particle removal step described below, can reduce internal resistance, and have excellent cycle characteristics. In addition, a desired positive electrode active material can be obtained. Among these, the fine particles are preferably positive electrode active material fine particles. Even if fine particles remain on the surface of the positive electrode active material after the fine particle removal step described later, since it has a role as the positive electrode active material, the possibility of adverse effects and further adverse effects can be further reduced, and the internal resistance can be reduced. In addition, a desired positive electrode active material having excellent cycle characteristics can be obtained more reliably.

As the positive electrode active material fine particles used for the fine particles, the same positive electrode active material on the side to which fine particles are attached, which will be described later, can be used, and description thereof is omitted here.
In addition, when the positive electrode active material fine particles are used as the fine particles, the type of the positive electrode active material on the side to be described later and the type of material used for the positive electrode active material fine particles may be the same, It may be different. For example, the positive electrode active material on the attached side may be a lithium cobalt oxide-based material, and the positive electrode active material fine particles may be a lithium nickel oxide-based material.

また、微粒子に用いられる上記金属酸化物微粒子としては、後述する「2.金属酸化物全面被覆工程」に記載される一般式Mで表される金属酸化物と同様のものを用いることができ、ここでの記載は省略する。 Further, as the metal oxide fine particles used for the fine particles, the same metal oxide represented by the general formula M 1 O x described in “2. The description here is omitted.

The shape of the fine particles is not particularly limited as long as the fine particles can be attached to the surface of the positive electrode active material on the attached side and can form a desired communication hole after the fine particle removal step described later. However, for example, spherical and elliptical spheres can be mentioned. The average particle diameter of the fine particles is a communication hole that can remove the fine particles in the fine particle removal step described later, and can suppress deterioration of the surface of the positive electrode active material after the fine particle removal step. There is no particular limitation as long as the average particle diameter can be formed. Specifically, it is preferably in the range of 0.001 to 10 μm, more preferably in the range of 0.01 to 5 μm, and particularly preferably in the range of 0.1 to 1 μm. If it is smaller than the above range, in the fine particle removal step described later, the fine particles are too small to sufficiently load the shear stress, and the fine particles may not be removed. On the other hand, if it is larger than the above range, the generated pores become excessively large after the fine particle removal step described later, and deterioration of the electrolytic solution or the like may not be suppressed.

本発明において、上記微粒子の平均粒径は、電子顕微鏡を用いた画像解析に基づいて測定された値を用いることができる。   In the present invention, the average particle size of the fine particles may be a value measured based on image analysis using an electron microscope.

Further, the positive electrode active material on the side to which fine particles are attached used in this step is not particularly limited as long as it is a positive electrode active material capable of occluding and releasing lithium ions. Examples thereof include metal oxides containing Li, metal phosphides containing Li and oxygen, metal borides containing Li and oxygen, and the like. Among them, it is preferable to use those represented by the general formula Li x M 2 O y. Here, M 2 in the formula is mainly composed of a transition metal and includes at least one of Co, Mn, Ni, V, and Fe. Moreover, the ranges of the values of x and y in the formula are x = 0.02 to 2.2 and y = 1.4 to 3. Among these, those containing at least one of Co, Ni, and Mn are preferable. In particular, those containing Co are preferable. This is because it is generally used.

微粒子が付着される側の上記正極活物質の形状としては、上記微粒子を付着することができる形状であれば、特に限定されるものではないが、例えば球状、楕円球等を挙げることができ、通常球状である。微粒子が付着される側の上記正極活物質の平均粒径としては、例えば0.1μm〜100μmの範囲内、中でも1μm〜10μmの範囲内であることが好ましい。   The shape of the positive electrode active material on the side to which the fine particles are attached is not particularly limited as long as it is a shape capable of attaching the fine particles, and examples thereof include a spherical shape and an elliptic sphere. Usually spherical. The average particle diameter of the positive electrode active material on the side to which the fine particles are attached is, for example, preferably in the range of 0.1 μm to 100 μm, and more preferably in the range of 1 μm to 10 μm.

本発明において、微粒子が付着される側の上記正極活物質の形状、平均粒径は電子顕微鏡を用いた画像解析に基づいて測定された値を用いることができる。   In the present invention, the shape and average particle diameter of the positive electrode active material on the side to which fine particles are attached can be values measured based on image analysis using an electron microscope.

なお、本発明において、上記微粒子が上記正極活物質表面に付着されているかどうかは、電子顕微鏡により確認することができる。   In the present invention, whether or not the fine particles are attached to the surface of the positive electrode active material can be confirmed by an electron microscope.

2. Next, the metal oxide whole surface covering step in the present invention will be described. In the present invention, the entire surface of the metal oxide is coated with the general formula M 1 O x (metal M 1 is zirconium (Zr), niobium (Nb), titanium (Ti), tungsten). (W), molybdenum (Mo), aluminum (Al), gallium (Ga), and at least one selected from the group consisting of boron (B). This is a step of forming a layer to obtain a metal oxide whole surface-covered positive electrode active material.

本工程を経ることにより、上記微粒子付着正極活物質表面全面を所望の量の、上記一般式Mで表される金属酸化物により被覆して金属酸化物被覆層を形成し、金属酸化物全面被覆正極活物質を得ることができる。例えば、上述した図1(b)の模式的な概略断面図で示すように、上記微粒子付着正極活物質3の表面全面を、上記金属酸化物により被覆して金属酸化物被覆層4を形成した金属酸化物全面被覆正極活物質5を得ることができる。 Through this step, the entire surface of the fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material is coated with a desired amount of the metal oxide represented by the general formula M 1 O x to form a metal oxide coating layer. A material-covered positive electrode active material can be obtained. For example, as shown in the schematic schematic cross-sectional view of FIG. 1B described above, the entire surface of the fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material 3 is coated with the metal oxide to form the metal oxide coating layer 4. The metal oxide whole surface covering positive electrode active material 5 can be obtained.

In this step, as a method of coating the metal oxide to form the metal oxide coating layer, the entire surface of the fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material can be coated with a desired amount of the metal oxide. There is no particular limitation as long as it is. For example, CVD (chemical vapor deposition), dry coating methods such as PVD (physical vapor deposition) including sputter deposition, and solution methods such as a sol-gel method can be used.
In addition, the said dry-coating method in this process shows the coating method using a vacuum, and is a concept including PVD, such as CVD mentioned above and sputter deposition specifically ,. This method is mainly used when coating a metal or an inorganic oxide.

The metal oxide used in this step is represented by the above general formula M 1 O x and can effectively suppress deterioration of the positive electrode active material due to the reaction with an electrolytic solution and improve cycle characteristics. Any metal oxide can be used as long as it is a metal oxide. As the metal M 1 used in the metal oxide M 1 O x, among the metal M 1 which is above listed, selected from the group consisting of zirconium (Zr), tungsten (W), aluminum (Al), molybdenum (Mo) And at least one selected from the group consisting of zirconium (Zr) and tungsten (W). This is because the surface acidity is particularly high and the lithium ion conductivity is excellent. In the present invention, the metal oxide having a sufficiently high surface acidity is obtained by mechanically applying a shear stress to the positive electrode active material coated with the entire surface of the metal oxide to remove the fine particles by sliding in the fine particle removal step described later. Since the object is partially coated, the effect of promoting lithium ion conduction can be sufficiently obtained. For this reason, the conductivity of lithium ions is improved, the insertion and release of lithium ions, the diffusion of lithium ions, and the like are facilitated, and the internal resistance can be effectively reduced.

The thickness of the metal oxide coating layer is such that, in the fine particle removal step described later, the metal oxide whole surface-covered positive electrode active material can be mechanically subjected to shear stress to remove the fine particles by sliding down. The thickness is not particularly limited. Specifically, since the thickness of the unevenness caused by the attached fine particles remains on the surface of the metal oxide coating layer can effectively load the fine particles to which the shear stress is attached, preferable. For example, the ratio of the thickness of the metal oxide coating layer to the average particle size of the fine particles ((metal oxide coating layer thickness) / (average particle size of fine particles) × 100) (%) is 1 to 50%. Within the range, it is preferable to be within a range of 10 to 30%, particularly within a range of 15 to 25%. If it is smaller than the above range, the metal oxide coating layer becomes too thin, and there is a possibility that deterioration of the positive electrode active material due to reaction with the electrolytic solution or the like cannot be effectively suppressed. On the other hand, if it is larger than the above range, the fine particles may not be removed in the fine particle removal step described later.

また、このような上記金属酸化物被覆層の厚みとしては、0.001〜10μmの範囲内、中でも0.01〜5μmの範囲内、特に0.1〜1μmの範囲内であることが好ましい。   In addition, the thickness of the metal oxide coating layer is preferably in the range of 0.001 to 10 μm, more preferably in the range of 0.01 to 5 μm, and particularly preferably in the range of 0.1 to 1 μm.

本発明において、上記金属酸化物被覆層の厚みは、電子顕微鏡を用いた画像解析に基づいて測定された値を用いることができる。   In the present invention, as the thickness of the metal oxide coating layer, a value measured based on image analysis using an electron microscope can be used.

なお、本発明において、上記微粒子付着正極活物質表面全面を所望の量の上記金属酸化物により被覆して金属酸化物被覆層が形成されているかどうかは、電子顕微鏡により確認することができる。   In the present invention, whether the metal oxide coating layer is formed by coating the entire surface of the fine particle-adhered positive electrode active material with a desired amount of the metal oxide can be confirmed by an electron microscope.

3.微粒子除去工程
次に、本発明における微粒子除去工程について説明する。本発明における微粒子除去工程とは、上記金属酸化物全面被覆正極活物質に機械的にせん断応力を加えて上記微粒子を滑落させて除去し、上記金属酸化物被覆層中に上記正極活物質表面から上記金属酸化物被覆層表面まで連通したリチウムイオンの移動が可能な孔を形成し、金属酸化物部分被覆正極活物質を得る工程である。
3. Particle Removal Step Next, the particle removal step in the present invention will be described. In the present invention, the fine particle removal step refers to mechanically applying a shear stress to the metal oxide whole surface-covered positive electrode active material to remove the fine particles by sliding off the surface of the positive electrode active material into the metal oxide coating layer. This is a step of forming a hole capable of moving lithium ions communicated to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer to obtain a metal oxide partially coated positive electrode active material.

By passing through this step, the fine particles are slid down to form a hole in the metal oxide coating layer that can move lithium ions communicating from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer. Thus, a metal oxide partially coated positive electrode active material can be obtained. For example, as illustrated in the schematic cross-sectional view of FIG. 1C described above, lithium communicated from the surface of the positive electrode active material 1 to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer 4 in the metal oxide coating layer 4. The hole 6 which can move an ion is formed, and the metal oxide partial coating positive electrode active material 7 can be obtained.

In the metal oxide partially coated positive electrode active material, a hole capable of moving lithium ions communicating from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer is formed in the metal oxide coating layer. For this reason, lithium ions can move in the communication hole. Moreover, the effect of promoting lithium ion conduction by the metal oxide having high surface acidity can be sufficiently obtained, the lithium ion conductivity can be improved, and the internal resistance can be reduced.
Furthermore, the surface of the positive electrode active material is partially covered with the metal oxide represented by the general formula M 1 O x , so that the metal oxide coating layer whose coating amount is optimized reacts with the electrolytic solution and the like. Thus, it is possible to improve the cycle characteristics by effectively suppressing the deterioration of the positive electrode active material.

In this step, mechanically applying a shear stress to the metal oxide whole surface-covered positive electrode active material to remove the fine particles by sliding down, the mechanical stress is applied to the metal oxide whole surface coated positive electrode active material. In addition, the method is not particularly limited as long as the fine particles can be slid down and removed. Specifically, a method of mechanically applying a shear stress using a ball mill can be used.
In the case of using the ball mill, for example, a predetermined ball and the metal oxide whole surface-covered positive electrode active material are added to a predetermined pot, and the ball mill is performed at a predetermined rotation speed and a predetermined time.

Examples of the material used for the pot include zirconia, stainless steel, and silicon nitride. Among them, zirconia is preferable.
Examples of the material used for the balls include zirconia, stainless steel, and silicon nitride. Among them, zirconia is preferable.
The diameter of the ball is preferably in the range of 0.001 to 200 mm, more preferably in the range of 0.1 to 100 mm, and particularly preferably in the range of 1 to 20 mm. By setting it within the above range, a shear stress can be sufficiently applied mechanically by a ball mill, and fine particles can be slid down and removed.

また、上記回転数としては、例えば、50〜400rpmの範囲内、中でも、200〜300rpmの範囲内であることが好ましい。
上記ボールミルする時間としては、例えば、1〜50時間の範囲内、中でも、10〜30時間の範囲内であることが好ましい。
Moreover, as said rotation speed, it is preferable that it exists in the range of 50-400 rpm, for example in the range of 200-300 rpm especially.
The ball milling time is, for example, preferably in the range of 1 to 50 hours, and more preferably in the range of 10 to 30 hours.

The hole obtained by this step is a hole capable of moving lithium ions communicating from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer in the metal oxide coating layer. Ions can move. Further, the presence of such communication holes in the metal oxide coating layer can sufficiently obtain the effect of promoting lithium ion conduction by the metal oxide having a high surface acidity, and can reduce the internal resistance. Is. The hole is a hole that exists in the metal oxide coating layer, communicates from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer, and has a size that allows lithium ions to move. There is no particular limitation.

上記孔の大きさとしては、リチウムイオンの移動が可能な程度の大きさであれば、特に限定されるものではないが、例えば0.001μm〜10μmの範囲内、特に0.1μm〜1μmの範囲内であることが好ましい。上記孔の大きさが、上記範囲より小さいと、リチウムイオンの移動が困難となるおそれがある。一方、上記範囲より大きいと、電解液等が正極活物質表面と接触する割合が増加し、正極活物質の劣化を抑制することが困難となるおそれがあるからである。   The size of the hole is not particularly limited as long as lithium ions can move, but for example, in the range of 0.001 μm to 10 μm, particularly in the range of 0.1 μm to 1 μm. It is preferable to be within. If the size of the hole is smaller than the above range, the movement of lithium ions may be difficult. On the other hand, if it is larger than the above range, the ratio of the electrolytic solution or the like coming into contact with the surface of the positive electrode active material increases, and it may be difficult to suppress the deterioration of the positive electrode active material.

なお、本発明において、上記孔の大きさは電子顕微鏡を用いた画像解析に基づき、10個程度を測定し、その平均された値を用いることができる。   In the present invention, about 10 holes can be measured based on image analysis using an electron microscope, and the average value can be used.

本発明においては、上記金属酸化物被覆層中に存在する上記孔の数としては、内部抵抗の上昇を抑制し、かつ電解液等との反応による正極活物質の劣化を効果的に抑制してサイクル特性を向上させることができる数であれば、特に限定されるものではない。   In the present invention, as the number of the holes present in the metal oxide coating layer, an increase in internal resistance is suppressed, and deterioration of the positive electrode active material due to a reaction with an electrolytic solution or the like is effectively suppressed. The number is not particularly limited as long as the number can improve the cycle characteristics.

また、本発明の上記孔は、上記金属酸化物被覆層中に存在して、正極活物質表面から金属酸化物被覆層表面まで連通しているものであるが、このような連通孔であるかどうかは、電子顕微鏡等により観察して、確認することができる。   Further, the hole of the present invention is present in the metal oxide coating layer and communicates from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer. It can be confirmed by observing with an electron microscope or the like.

5.用途

正極活物質として、金属酸化物部分被覆正極活物質の代わりに、正極活物質(LiCoO、平均粒径10μm)表面全面に、実施例1と同様の金属酸化物被覆のみ行い全面被覆し、電極としての目付け量を6.4mg/cmとしたこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして電池セルを作製した。
[Comparative Example 2]
As the positive electrode active material, instead of the metal oxide partially coated positive electrode active material, the entire surface of the positive electrode active material (LiCoO 2 , average particle size 10 μm) is coated only with the same metal oxide as in Example 1 to form an electrode A battery cell was produced in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the basis weight was 6.4 mg / cm 2 .

[Evaluation]
(Measurement of dust resistance)
Using the battery cells obtained in Examples, Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2, Li ion resistance was measured. DC resistance was measured as Li ion resistance. The measurement temperature was 25 ° C. First, conditioning was performed at 3.0 to 4.1 V, and the voltage was adjusted to 60% SOC. As for the current value, charging and discharging were performed at C / 3, 1C, 3C, 5C, 10C, and 20C for 10 seconds each, and the voltage after 10 seconds was plotted. From this plot, a regression line was obtained, an IV diagram was drawn, and direct current resistance was obtained from the slope. The obtained results are shown in Table 1.
(Cycle test)
Using the battery cells obtained in Examples, Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2, the cycle characteristics were tested. For the cycle characteristics, after measuring the direct current resistance, 3.0 to 4.1 V was charged and discharged at 2C for 300 cycles, and the discharge capacity retention rate was determined. The obtained results are shown in Table 1.

Figure 0005023912
Figure 0005023912

表1に示すように、直流抵抗は、部分被覆を行った実施例では9Ωとなり、被覆をしていない比較例1においては18Ω、全面被覆した比較例2においては150Ωとなり、実施例は、比較例1よりも小さく、比較例2よりも大幅にちいさくなり、抵抗を低減することができた。   As shown in Table 1, the DC resistance is 9Ω in the partially coated example, 18Ω in the uncoated comparative example 1 and 150Ω in the fully coated comparative example 2, and the examples are comparative. It was smaller than Example 1 and significantly smaller than Comparative Example 2, and the resistance could be reduced.

また、放電容量維持率(%)は、部分被覆を行った実施例では86%、被覆していない比較例1では80%、全面被覆した比較例2では95%となり、実施例は比較例1よりも大きい値となり、比較例2に比べて若干小さい値となったが、良好なサイクル特性を示した。   In addition, the discharge capacity retention rate (%) is 86% in the example in which the partial coating is performed, 80% in the comparative example 1 in which the partial coating is not performed, and 95% in the comparative example 2 in which the entire coating is performed. The value was larger than that of Comparative Example 2, but good cycle characteristics were exhibited.

From the above results, in the examples, holes capable of moving lithium ions communicating from the surface of the positive electrode active material to the surface of the metal oxide coating layer are formed in the metal oxide coating layer. For this reason, lithium ions can move in the communication hole, and the effect of promoting lithium ion conduction by the metal oxide having a high surface acidity can be sufficiently obtained, and the internal resistance can be reduced. Further, the surface of the positive electrode active material is partially covered with the metal oxide represented by the general formula M 1 O x , so that the metal oxide coating layer whose coating amount is optimized is caused by the reaction with the electrolytic solution or the like. The deterioration of the positive electrode active material can be effectively suppressed and the cycle characteristics can be improved.
