さらに、本発明は、基端部と、先端部と、少なくとも基端部から先端部へ延びる長手方向軸線とを有する管状の本体と、前記本体の屈曲に対する可撓性を強化すべく本体に形成された複数のスロットとからなる医療用具であって、同医療用具は、本体の少なくとも一部の内側に、本体の内周面を補強するためのポリマーからなる裏打ち部材を有し、同裏打ち部材は少なくとも2つの層から形成され、裏打ち部材の外周面はスロットの底面を構成することと、前記2つの層の間に配置された、裏打ち部材に対して崩れやねじれに対する抵抗力を付与する耐崩壊構造と、前記本体と裏打ち部材との間おいて、長さ方向に延びて、裏打ち部材による本体の補強を緩和させる断面環状をなす中空領域とをさらに有することとを特徴とする。
幾つかの実施例において、少なくとも幾つかのスロットは、正方形、長形、くさび形、T字形、又はほぼ円形などであってもよい。図24は、管状の医療用具421を示す部分側面図であり、異なる3種類のスロット424,428,432を示す。これらの種類のスロットは、組み込み式の撓み止め部を構成して、スロットの開口部が閉じて互いに接触する際に医療用具がさらに撓むことを防止し、また、その方向へさらに撓むことを防止する。スロット424は、医療用具421の対向する面において形成されてもよく、くさび形や三角形であってもよく、例えば、スロットの底部においてくさびの最大幅が位置するように形成されてもよい。同様に、スロット428は、医療用具421の対向する面において、T字形に形成されてもよく、Tの横棒が医療用具の軸線に最も接近するように形成される。スロット432は、図示されるようにほぼ円形であってもよい。スロットの他の形状が、使用者の必要に応じて構成されてもよい。スロット424,428,432は、対向するように配向されるが、医療用具の周囲に周方向に離間して形成されてもよく、或いは、すでに説明した図に示されたように、交互の位置に形成されてもよい。
外向きの波状部分641は、裏打ち部材617(例えば、軸線方向に)を圧縮して形成されてもよく、熱、内圧、又はこれら両方と組み合わせて行われてもよい。外向きの波状部分641は、例えば、円形又はらせん状の波形を施した型により形成されてもよい。そのような方法が、例えば、耐崩壊構造620などの異なる耐崩壊構造を備えていない実施例に使用されてもよい。型による成形には、熱、内圧、又はこれら両方の付与が伴う。型を使用する実施例において、耐崩壊構造620は、省かれても、成形後に取り付けられても、或いは、波状部分641が形成された後に裏打ち部材617上に取り付けられてもよい。外向き波状部分641は、耐崩壊構造620の直径が裏打ち部材617の直径よりも小さい場合には、裏打ち部材617に耐崩壊構造620を取り付けることにより形成されてもよい。加熱されて、裏打ち部材617を軟化させてもよい。
Claims (31)
- 基端部と、先端部と、少なくとも基端部から先端部へ延びる長手方向軸線とを有する管状の本体と、前記本体の屈曲に対する可撓性を強化すべく本体に形成された複数のスロットとからなる医療用具であって、同医療用具は、
本体の少なくとも一部の内側に、本体の内周面を補強するためのポリマーからなる裏打ち部材を有し、同裏打ち部材は少なくとも2つの層から形成され、裏打ち部材の外周面はスロットの底面を構成することと、
前記2つの層の間に配置された、裏打ち部材に対して崩れやねじれに対する抵抗力を付与する耐崩壊構造と、
前記本体と裏打ち部材との間おいて、長さ方向に延びて、裏打ち部材による本体の補強を緩和させる断面環状をなす中空領域とをさらに有することとを特徴とする医療用具。 - 前記耐崩壊構造はらせん状をなす請求項1に記載の医療用具。
- 前記耐崩壊構造は環状をなす請求項1に記載の医療用具。
- 前記耐崩壊構造は少なくとも1つのワイヤからなる請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 前記ワイヤはリボンワイヤである請求項4に記載の医療用具。
- 耐崩壊構造は裏打ち部材に接合される請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 裏打ち部材は、耐崩壊構造から外方へ延びる少なくとも1つの波状部分を有する請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 裏打ち部材は、耐崩壊構造から内方へ延びる少なくとも1つの波状部分を有する請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- スロットは、本体の複数のセグメントを構成し、セグメントは軸線に沿って少なくとも部分的にらせん形状を形成し、セグメントは、スロットによりらせん形状に沿って分離される請求項1乃至請求項8のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 各スロットは2つの終端と1つの中間点を有し、セグメントは隣接するスロットの終端の間において位置され、セグメントは、軸線方向において2つの隣接するスロットの中間点の間において位置される請求項9に記載の医療用具。
- 軸線に沿って交互に位置されるセグントは、らせん形状を形成する請求項9又は請求項10に記載の医療用具。
- 各スロットは、少なくとも他の1つのスロットと線状をなし、セグメントは隣接して線状をなすスロットの間に配置される請求項9乃至請求項11のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 各スロットは、少なくとも他の2つのスロットに平行に位置される請求項1乃至請求項12のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- スロットは複数のグループをなすように構成され、各スロットは軸線に対して直交する方向に延び、グループの各スロットは、軸線を中心に等間隔に位置される請求項1乃至請求項13のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 前記グループの各スロットは、軸線に沿って同じ位置に配置される請求項14に記載の医療用具。
- 少なくとも前記複数のグループが2つのスロットからなる請求項14又は請求項15に記載の医療用具。
- 少なくとも前記複数のグループが3つのスロットからなる請求項14又は請求項15に記載の医療用具。
- 長手方向に隣接する各グループは、軸線に沿ってらせん状を形成する先のグループから、軸線を中心にして回転される請求項14乃至請求項17のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 180度を前記グループのスロットの数で割った角度とは異なる角度で回転され、その角度は、0度よりも大きく、10度よりも小さい角度である請求項18に記載の医療用具。
- 前記本体は、ニチノールからなる請求項1乃至請求項19のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 前記本体の内側に少なくとも部分的に配置された中央ワイヤをさらに有する請求項1乃至請求項20のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。

- 前記先端部は、実質的に放射線不透過性マーカを有する請求項1乃至請求項26のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- ガイドワイヤである請求項1乃至請求項27のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 管状の本体と同軸であるコイルをさらに有する請求項1乃至請求項28のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
- 前記スロットは、長手方向に異なる間隔で配置され、その間隔は基端部から先端部へ徐々に減少される請求項1乃至請求項29のいずれか一項に記載の医療用具。
