図1(A)は、ICカード10の平面図、図1(B)は、図1(A)のA−A線における横断面を示している。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an IC card and an IC card reader / writer.
Specifically, in an IC card in which a plurality of operating systems (hereinafter also referred to as “OS”) are mounted on one IC card, an optical sensor provided on the IC card detects an external light amount or an optical signal received from a reader / writer or the like. Thus, the present invention relates to an IC card for selecting an OS to be used by the IC card itself and starting processing, and an IC card reader / writer used for reading and writing the IC card.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a conventional portable electronic medium, for example, a conventional IC card, an IC card is developed and designed on the assumption that it is used for a single purpose (application) as defined in “ISO / IEC7816-4”. Therefore, it was not considered to add multiple operating systems to the memory.
However, IC card IC chips are also being developed as general-purpose operation systems, and it is becoming practical to install a plurality of OSs such as JAVA and MULTIS cards.
[0003]
As such an IC card equipped with a plurality of OSs, (1) an IC card for a financial institution, an IC card having both cash card and credit card functions, and (2) a commuter pass and a prepaid as an IC card for transportation IC card having both functions of a boarding ticket, (3) IC card for a communication terminal, such as an SIM card for a mobile phone or an IC card having both functions as a prepaid card for a public phone Conceivable. In addition, an IC card having two or more OSs, such as these, functions as an ID card of a company, a group, a school, a certificate, etc. can be considered.
[0004]
FIG. 5 is a diagram showing a general configuration of an IC card.
As shown in FIG. 5, the IC card 10 includes a terminal board 18 serving as a contact point with the outside, a processor 11 that performs calculation and control, a volatile memory (RAM) 12, rewritable program code, and data having a permanent attribute. A non-volatile memory (EEPROM) 13 that stores data, a coprocessor 14 that assists the processor 11, a non-rewritable program code (card operating system (OS)), a program that executes application loading / installation, and data that is not rewritten A ROM 15 is stored. Communication with the reader / writer 20 is performed through the terminal board 18.
Under the control of the processor 11, two types of memories, the RAM 12 and the EEPROM 13, are managed, and there may be a coprocessor 14 for performing a particularly heavy load calculation.
[0005]
When the IC card 10 loaded with a plurality of OSs is set in the reader / writer 20, signals are generally exchanged between the IC card and the reader / writer in the following procedure.
FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating a relationship among the IC card, the reader / writer, and the arithmetic device.
As shown in FIG. 6, the IC card 10 is inserted into the reader / writer 20, and writing to the IC card and reading from the IC card are performed according to instructions from the arithmetic unit 30. The arithmetic device 30 and the reader / writer 20 are connected by a connection cable 32.
However, FIG. 6 is illustrated as an example of how the IC card is used, and the IC card 10 is not limited to use with a reader / writer connected to an arithmetic device (such as a personal computer). Therefore, the other party to communicate with may be a multimedia terminal, an ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) of a financial institution, a reservation terminal, or the like.
[0006]
When the IC card 10 is inserted into the card insertion slot 21 of the reader / writer 20, connection between respective contacts of the IC card and the reader / writer is performed. Thereby, power is supplied to the IC card 10 from within the reader / writer.
Next, a reset signal is sent from the reader / writer 20 to the IC card, and a signal including the identifier of the application to be used is sent to the processor 11 of the IC card.
In response to this, the processor 11 of the IC card 10 transmits a reset response (ATR) signal including card attributes to the reader / writer 20. Thereafter, the processor 11 enters a command waiting state.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the case of an IC card equipped with a plurality of OSs, the service is provided by selecting and operating the OS of the IC card used by the terminal device or reader / writer to which the IC card is mounted according to the above-described procedure.
In this case, a specific electrical signal is given to the IC card from the terminal device or the reader / writer as described above, and an appropriate OS is selected. Diversity is also considered necessary.
In addition, it is considered necessary to have a usage method that switches the OS in accordance with changes in the external environment, particularly changes in the external environment and the brightness in the reader / writer.
Therefore, in the present invention, when the IC card is provided with an optical sensor and the IC card is mounted on the terminal, the light amount value of the external environment is detected, or the optical signal from the terminal is received and the target OS is automatically set. It was completed by researching switching.
[0008]

Then, based on the detected light quantity value, any one of a plurality of installed operating systems is selected, and then a reset response signal is transmitted to an external reader / writer device. The IC card can switch the operating system by the optical sensor.
[0010]

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an external configuration of an IC card according to the present invention. 1A is a plan view of the IC card 10, and FIG. 1B shows a cross section taken along the line AA of FIG. 1A. As shown in FIG. 1A, the surface of the IC card 10 includes a terminal substrate 18 as in the case of a normal IC card, but the IC card 10 of the present invention includes the optical sensor 1 on the surface of the card base. It is characterized by being. As the optical sensor 1, a solid-state imaging device such as a CCD can be made small and can be mounted on an IC card. Alternatively, it may be a MOS device. The optical sensor 1 basically has no problem as long as it can detect the brightness, but may be provided with a color discrimination capability in order to discriminate by color light.
In addition, it is also free to provide the display device 3 and the like.
As shown in FIG. 1 (B), the optical sensor 1 may be provided so that the IC card substrate oversheet 4 covers a part of the optical sensor 1, and the optical sensor 1 is formed after perforating a recess in which the optical sensor is embedded. You may mount | wear so that it may fit in.
In addition, the surface of a card | curd base material means the surface where a card | curd contacts an external environment, and does not mean the surface with a remarkable pattern etc. Therefore, the photo sensor may be provided on the so-called back surface opposite to the terminal substrate.
[0014]
FIG. 2 is a diagram showing the configuration of the IC card of the present invention. The IC card 10 of the present invention also has a terminal board 18 as a contact point with the outside, a processor 11 that performs calculation and control, a volatile memory (RAM) 12, a rewritable EEPROM 13, a ROM 15, A coprocessor 14 is provided to assist the processor 11 if necessary. The optical sensor 1 is connected to the IC chip 10c via the A / D conversion circuit 2 as necessary. Therefore, the light quantity value detected by the optical sensor 1 is supplied to the processor 11 of the IC chip 10c, and OS switching is controlled. When the IC card receives an optical signal, the received signal is analyzed by the processor 11.
[0015]
FIG. 3 is a view showing a state in which the IC card of the present invention is inserted into the reader / writer. FIG. 3A shows a state in which the IC card is completely inserted into the reader / writer 20, and FIG. 3B shows a state in which the IC card is inserted into the reader / writer 20 and used. Yes. In either case, the IC card 10 is pressed against the connector 22 on the reader / writer side by the leaf spring 7 or the like.
Specifically, the operating system is selected by the IC card after the IC card 10 is inserted into the reader / writer 20, activated by the reader / writer, and cold reset. It is necessary to be performed before transmitting the reset response signal.
[0016]
When the IC card is completely inserted into the reader / writer, the optical sensor 1 is always located in the reader / writer, so that it is completely covered by the box of the reader / writer 20 and the entry of light from the outside is blocked. . In this case, the procedure is as follows.
(1) Power is supplied from the reader / writer and the IC card is activated.
(2) The IC card receives a reset signal from the reader / writer.
(3) The optical sensor on the IC card is activated by the supplied electric power, and the optical sensor detects the amount of light. (Normally, the light quantity value> 0).
(4) The detected light amount value is compared with a threshold value stored in advance in the IC card, and the associated OS is started up.
(5) The IC card transmits ATR to the reader / writer.
[0017]
In this case, the light in the reader / writer can be switched to a constant brightness with respect to the optical sensor, or the light source 5 and the light introduction path 6 may be provided in the reader / writer as shown in FIG. preferable.
The light source 5 is not limited to a device that simply provides illumination light, but may be an optical signal generator that emits a constant optical signal in pulses.
[0018]
When the entire IC card is not covered by the reader / writer box, the optical sensor 1 can be used to be exposed to the outside of the reader / writer, and the following procedure is performed.
(1) Power is supplied from the reader / writer and the IC card is activated.
(2) A reset signal is transmitted from the reader / writer to the IC card.
(3) The optical sensor on the IC card detects the amount of light. (Normally, the light quantity value> 0).
At this time, the light sensor detects the light amount value in the environment where the reader / writer is installed, and the OS to be selected differs depending on the magnitude.
(4) The OS associated with the detected light quantity value starts up.
(5) The IC card transmits ATR to the reader / writer.
[0019]
In this case, the amount of light in the external environment may be detected as it is. However, as shown in FIG. 3B, the light source 5 is provided on the lower surface side of the IC card to illuminate with a certain brightness, and the light amount value is obtained. It can also be adjusted. When the brightness of the external environment changes unstablely, it is preferable to provide constant illumination. The light source 5 in this case may also emit a constant optical signal in a pulse shape.
The reader / writer for an IC card of the present invention can be configured as shown in FIGS.
[0020]
FIG. 4 shows a flowchart for selecting an operating system.
When the IC card is inserted into the reader / writer, power is supplied from the reader / writer 20 to the IC card 10 and the IC card is activated (S1). Thereafter, the IC card receives a reset signal from the reader / writer (S2).
In the IC card, the optical sensor 1 in the IC card is activated by the power supplied from the reader / writer, and detects the amount of light in the external environment of the card (S3). The detected light amount value is compared with a threshold value stored in advance in the IC card (S4), and an appropriate operating system (OS) is started up.
[0021]
In the case of FIG. 4, two types of threshold values are set for the detected light amount value. When the detected light amount value is small with respect to the threshold value 1, the operating system A is selected (S5), and the ATR signal is output. Transmit (S6). When the detected light amount value is larger, comparison with the threshold value 2 is performed (S7).
When the detected light amount value is smaller than the threshold value 2, the operating system B is selected (S8), and an ATR signal is transmitted (S9). When the detected light quantity value is larger, the operating system C is selected (S10), and an ATR signal is transmitted (S11).
The above example describes the case where there are three operating systems, but there may be two operating systems, or three or more operating systems.
[0022]
【The invention's effect】
Since the IC card of the present invention includes the optical sensor as described above, the following usage method can be adopted, and the following effects are produced.
(1) An OS can be selected according to the usage environment.
For example, when the external environment is dark, it is possible to perform an automatic operation for switching the OS so that the display device 3 (FIG. 1) displays light. As a result, power consumption can be reduced as compared with the case where the light emission display is always performed.
In addition, since the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited at night, the OS for vending can be prevented from operating.
[0023]
(2) The OS can be selected according to the type of reader / writer.
The reader / writer for a certain purpose can automatically switch the OS by the IC card by adjusting the illumination in the reader / writer or the light introduction path so as to give a certain light amount value. This eliminates the need to install special software for OS switching in the reader / writer.
For example, it is possible to use the lighting L1 so that the OS as an employee ID card functions, the lighting L2 allows the OS as a banking card to function, and the lighting L3 allows the vending OS to function.
[0024]
Since the IC card reader / writer of the present invention includes an illumination or an optical signal generator that gives a constant light amount value, it provides stable detection accuracy to the optical sensor even in an environment where the external illumination varies significantly. be able to.
