Description

本発明は、車両用バンパビーム構造に関し、より詳しくは、車両の高速衝突時に必要な特性と低速衝突時に必要な特性のどちらも満たせるようにするバンパビームの構造に関する。
車両のバンパビームは、車体とバンパとの間に設けられて、バンパを車体に支持する役割を担い、バンパと共にバンパに加えられる衝撃を吸収及び緩衝する役割を兼ねる。
車両の低速衝突時にバンパビームが備えるべき特性は、歩行者がバンパに衝突したことを想定して、適切な衝撃エネルギーの吸収によって歩行者の傷害を低減することであり、車両の高速衝突時にバンパビームが備えるべき特性は、適切な剛性によってバンパビームの変形時間を長く確保して車両の衝撃吸収性能を大きくすることである。
例えば、特許文献１にはバンパビームとバンパ間に合成樹脂発泡体を介在させることにより、歩行者と搭乗者の安全を両立させる技術が開示されている。
特開２００４−３２２８６１号公報
本発明の目的は、車両の低速衝突時、及び高速衝突時に必要なバンパビームの特性を同等に備えて、低速衝突時に歩行者の傷害を低減させ、高速衝突時には車両の衝撃吸収性能を大きくして歩行者の安全と搭乗者の安全のどちらにも寄与できるようにした車両用バンパビーム構造を提供することにある。
上記のような目的を達成するための本発明に係る車両用バンパビーム構造は、複数の垂直面と、複数の垂直面の中央部位を一体に連結した水平面とを備えた金属材質のセンタビームと、センタビームの外側を覆うプラスチック材質のアウタビームと、アウタビームの外側に備えられた複数のリブとを有して構成されて、アウタビームは、センタビームの上側と下側とをそれぞれ覆う２つからなり、リブは、センタビームの隣り合う垂直面の間に形成される空間に備えられていることを特徴とする。
そして、リブは、センタビームの垂直面を覆う表面と水平面を覆う表面を２つの辺とした３角形状に形成され、３角形状の斜辺が、隣り合うアウタビームの３角形状の斜辺と、互いに前記アウタビームの長手方向に沿って交差する形態で設けられるのが好ましい。
本発明により、車両の低速衝突時、及び高速衝突時に必要なバンパビームの特性を同等に備えて、低速衝突時に歩行者の傷害を低減させ、高速衝突時には車両の衝撃吸収性能を大きくし、歩行者の安全と搭乗者の安全のどちらにも寄与できる。
以下、本発明の実施例を添付図によって詳述する。
図１は本発明に係る車両用バンパビームの断面構造図である。
図１に示すように、バンパビーム１１は複数の垂直面１を一体に連結した断面形状を備えた金属材質のセンタビーム３と、センタビーム３の外側を覆う断面形状を備えたプラスチック材質のアウタビーム５と、アウタビーム５の外側に備えられた複数のリブ７とを含んで構成される。
センタビーム３は、３つの垂直面１の中央部位を一体に連結する水平面９を備えた形状からなり、アウタビーム５は、センタビーム３の上側と下側とをそれぞれ覆う２つの部分からなり、リブ７は、センタビーム３の垂直面１の間に形成される空間に設けられている。
リブ７は、隣接した２つの辺がアウタビーム５の隣接した２つの表面に連結された３角形状、すなわち、センタビームの垂直面を覆う表面と水平面を覆う表面を２つの辺とした３角形状に形成され、３角形状の斜辺が、隣り合うアウタビームの３角形状の斜辺と、互いにアウタビームの長手方向に沿って交差する形態で設けられている。
本実施例において、センタビーム３はアルミニウムによって構成したが、スチールなどのようにプラスチックよりは強度が高く、変形時間が長い他の金属材も使用することができる。
図２は上記のような断面構造を有するバンパビーム１１が車両に設けられた状態を示す図である。
バンパ１３は、外観を形成するバンパカバー１５とバンパカバー１５内で衝撃を吸収するように設けられた衝撃吸収材１７とから構成されている。
バンパビーム１１は、センタビーム３とアウタビーム５とで担う全体的な強度が、従来の単純な平板を折り曲げた断面形状を有するバンパビームと概ね同じになるように形成される。
即ち、センタビーム３自体の強度は、従来のバンパビームに比べて多少弱く形成され、弱くなった強度はアウタビーム５が補うようになっている。
勿論、バンパビーム１１の強度は、バンパビーム１１が装着される車体１９の前方部分よりは弱い強度から形成される。
上記のように構成されたバンパビーム１１は、バンパに加えられる衝撃に対して車体１９より先に変形されながら、バンパ１３と共に衝撃エネルギーを吸収する。
特に、バンパビーム１１の変形は、衝撃が加えられた変形初期にはプラスチック材質のアウタビーム５が破損されながら衝撃エネルギーを急速に吸収する作用をし、以後にはセンタビーム３がバンパビーム１１の変形時間をできるだけ長く形成するようにする。
従って、低速走行時に発生した歩行者衝突の際には、アウタビーム５の急速な衝撃エネルギー吸収作用によって歩行者の傷害を小さくするように作用し、高速走行時に発生した衝突では、センタビーム３がバンパビーム１１の変形時間を長くすることによって、車両の衝撃吸収性能を大きくして搭乗者の安全を図るようになる。
この時、アウタビーム５に形成されたリブ７は、センタビーム３を助けてバンパビーム１１の変形時間を長くするのに寄与する。

Claims (3)

  1. 複数の垂直面と、前記複数の垂直面の中央部位を一体に連結した水平面とを備えた金属材質のセンタビームと、前記センタビームの外側を覆うプラスチック材質のアウタビームと、前記アウタビームの外側に備えられた複数のリブとを有して構成された車両用バンパビーム構造であって、
    前記アウタビームは、前記センタビームの上側と下側とをそれぞれ覆う２つからなり、
    前記リブは、前記センタビームの隣り合う垂直面の間に形成される空間に備えられていることを特徴とする車両用バンパビーム構造。
  2. 前記リブは、前記センタビームの垂直面を覆う表面と水平面を覆う表面を２つの辺とした３角形状に形成され、前記３角形状の斜辺が、隣り合う前記アウタビームの３角形状の斜辺と、互いに前記アウタビームの長手方向に沿って交差する形態で設けられていることを特徴とする請求項１に記載の車両用バンパビーム構造。
  3. 前記センタビームは、アルミニウムからなることを特徴とする請求項１に記載の車両用バンパビーム構造。
