Description

The present invention relates to a maximum discharge power calculation method capable of accurately calculating the maximum discharge power of a secondary battery such as a lithium ion battery mounted on, for example, an electric vehicle or a hybrid vehicle.

In a secondary battery used as a drive power source for an electric vehicle or the like, the discharge power is controlled to be equal to or less than the maximum discharge power Pmax. In the case of a lithium ion battery or the like, when the discharge depth DOD (depth of discharge) of the battery is shallow (for example, about 60%), the internal resistance at the time of charging and the internal resistance at the time of discharging are almost the same, and at the time of charging and discharging It is known that the linearity of the IV characteristic indicating the relationship between the current value I and the voltage value V is good.

Therefore, when performing the above-described control, a plurality of discharge currents I and terminal voltages V during sampling are sampled, and the maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated based on the IV characteristic straight line obtained by linear regression calculation from the sampling data. Then, control is performed using the calculated maximum discharge power Pmax (see, for example, Patent Document 1). The maximum discharge power Pmax is also used when calculating the state of charge (SOC) of the battery, and a Wh-P table showing the correlation between the discharge power amount and the maximum discharge power and the maximum discharge power Pmax The discharge power amount WhP is determined from the discharge power amount WhP, and the charge amount SOC is determined based on the discharge power amount WhP.

However, it has been found that when a secondary battery is used in a high-power system that extracts a large current in a short time, the internal resistance tends to increase with a rapid increase in discharge current. In other words, in a region where the current value is large, the IV characteristic deviates from the above-described IV characteristic straight line and does not have linearity. Such deviation from linearity is likely to occur when conditions such as a sudden increase in current value or a low SOC overlap. Therefore, the regression line varies depending on the current value distribution of the sampling data, and the internal resistance and the open circuit voltage cannot be calculated accurately. As a result, the calculated value of the maximum discharge power Pmax is also deviated from the true value, which affects the control using the maximum discharge power Pmax and the calculation of the charge amount SOC.

According to the first aspect of the present invention, a plurality of sampling data composed of current values and voltage values synchronously detected at the time of discharging are obtained, and the IV characteristics of the battery are linearly regressed based on the plurality of sampling data, and the calculated IV The present invention is applied to a maximum discharge power calculation method for calculating the maximum discharge power of a battery based on characteristics. In the first step, it is determined whether the current value of the sampling data is included in a low current region that is lower than a predetermined current value in the battery discharge current region or in a high current region that is equal to or higher than the predetermined current value. In the second step, a high current region IV characteristic is calculated by linear regression based on sampling data whose current value is included in the high current region. In the third step, the maximum discharge power is calculated based on the high current region IV characteristics.

According to the present invention, since the IV characteristic for calculating the maximum discharge power is calculated based on the internal resistance characteristic in the high current region, the maximum discharge power can be calculated with high accuracy.

Hereinafter, the best mode for carrying out the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a power drive system used in an electric vehicle (EV) and a hybrid electric vehicle (EHV). Reference numeral 1 denotes a traveling battery, and the maximum discharge power calculation method according to the present invention is applied when charge / discharge control of the battery 1 or calculation of the SOC is performed. When the motor is driven, the DC power output from the battery 1 is converted into AC power by the inverter 2 and supplied to the traveling motor 3. In the regenerative control, the running energy of the vehicle is reversely converted into electric energy via the motor 3 and the inverter 2, and the battery 1 is charged and the vehicle is subjected to regenerative braking.

The voltage sensor 5 detects the voltage V across the battery 1, and the current sensor 6 detects the current I flowing through the battery 1. A temperature sensor 7 detects the temperature T of the battery 1. The controller 4 calculates a battery state of the battery 1 based on the voltage value V and the current value I detected by the voltage sensor 5 and the current sensor 6, and performs output control and regeneration of the inverter 2 according to the calculated battery state. Control and so on.

Next, the maximum discharge power calculation method according to the present invention will be described. As a characteristic of the battery 1, there is a correlation between the discharge power amount (Wh) and the maximum discharge power amount (P) as shown in FIG. The horizontal axis indicates the discharge power amount. The discharge power amount Wh = 0 corresponds to SOC = 100%, and the discharge power amount Wh ′ at the minimum discharge power Pmin determined by the discharge end voltage Vmin corresponds to SOC = 0%. In other words, the horizontal axis can be replaced with SOC.

Although the Wh-P characteristic shown in FIG. 2 varies depending on the type of battery, Wh (P) can be approximated by an Nth-order expression (second-order expression or third-order expression) of P in a lithium ion battery, a nickel metal hydride battery, or the like. . The maximum discharge power Pmax of the battery 1 can be calculated by performing linear regression operation on sampling data as will be described later. Then, by substituting the calculated maximum discharge power Pmax into Wh (P), the current discharge power amount WhP and SOC ′ can be obtained.

FIG. 3 is a flowchart showing a procedure for calculating the maximum discharge power Pmax processed by the controller 4. In step S1, the voltage value 5 and the current value I during discharging are sampled by the voltage sensor 5 and the current sensor 6 in synchronization. This sampling process is repeated until it is determined in step S3 that the discharge power amount has reached a predetermined value. In step S2, the detected sampling data is stocked in a storage unit (not shown) of the controller 4.

The storage unit of the controller 4 is provided with seven storage units corresponding to the current regions CL1 to CL3 and CH1 to CH7 of the discharge current value. As shown in FIG. 4, data (current value I, voltage value V) having a current value I from 0 to less than I 1 is stocked in the storage section CL1, and the current value I is I 1 or more I 2 in the storage section CL2. The data with a current value I equal to or greater than I 2 and less than I 3 is stocked in the storage unit CL3. Further, each storage unit CH1 to CH4, in turn, I 3 or I 4 below data, I 4 or I 5 below data, I 5 or I 6 less data, data that is less than I 6 or I 7 is Each is stocked.

In the present embodiment, the current value range 0 to less than I 3 of the data stocked in the storage units CL1 to CL3 is set as the low current region, and the current value range I 3 or more I of the data stocked in the storage units CH1 to CH7 is set. Less than 7 is set as a high current region. In the example shown in FIG. 4, the number of stocks that can be stored in each of the storage units CL1 to CL3 and CH1 to CH7 is three. For example, three sets of sampling data are stocked in the storage unit CL2 in FIG. 4, and when the fourth sampling data (i10, v10) is detected, the oldest data (i5, v5) is stored. Erase and stock the latest data (i10, v10).

In this way, the storage units CL1 to CL3 and CH1 to CH7 are not stocked with more than 3 sampling data, thus preventing a large amount of sampling data from being biased to a specific current region. it can. Therefore, it is not necessary to secure an enormous memory capacity in the controller 4, and the calculation accuracy of the IV characteristic line regression calculation based on the sampling data is increased.

In step S3, it is determined whether or not the discharge power amount has reached a predetermined amount after starting sampling. If it is determined that the predetermined amount has not been reached, the process returns to step S1 and sampling is continued. On the other hand, if it is determined in step S3 that the discharge power amount has reached a predetermined amount, the process proceeds to step S4. In step S4, it is determined whether or not the data stocked in the storage units CL1 to CL3 has a sufficient number of data for the regression calculation in the low current region in step S5 and the data distribution is not biased.

Here, as an example of the determination condition, the total number of data stored in the storage units CL1 to CL3 is a sufficient number for the regression calculation, and the data is stored in all the storage units CL1 to CL3. On the condition. As a condition for determining that the data distribution varies, instead of the condition that data is stocked in all the storage units CL1 to CL3, the storage units CL1 and CL3 on both sides of the storage unit CL2 are used. A condition that data is stocked may be used. By making the determination under such conditions, it is possible to prevent regression calculation using only sampling data within a narrow current range, and it is possible to improve the calculation accuracy of IV characteristics.

V=E1−I×R1 …(1)
If YES is determined in step S4, the process proceeds to step S5. If NO is determined, that is, if the number of data stock is small or the data distribution is biased, the process proceeds to step S14. The processing after step S14 will be described later. In step S5, linear regression calculation is performed based on the sampling data of the low current region stocked in the storage units CL1 to CL3, and a regression line (IV characteristic line) L1 shown in FIG. 5 is obtained. The characteristic straight line L1 is expressed as in equation (1), the magnitude of the slope corresponds to the internal resistance R1, and the V intercept corresponds to the open circuit voltage E1.
V = E1-I * R1 (1)

In step S6, it is determined whether or not the data stored in the storage units CH1 to CH4 has a sufficient number of data for the regression calculation in the high current region in step S7 and the distribution is not biased. In the case of step S6 as well, as in the case of the low current region described in step S4, the total number of data stocked in the storage units CH1 to CH4 is sufficient for regression calculation, and the stocked data distribution Judgment is made under the condition that there is no significant bias.

V=E2−I×R2 …(2)
If YES is determined in step S6, the process proceeds to step S7. If NO is determined, that is, if the number of data stock is small or the data distribution is biased, the process proceeds to step S14. The processing after step S14 will be described later. In step S7, linear regression calculation is performed based on the sampling data of the high current region stocked in the storage units CH1 to CH4 to obtain a regression line (IV characteristic line) L2 shown in FIG. The characteristic line L2 is expressed as shown in Equation (2), the magnitude of the slope corresponds to the resistor R2, and the V-intercept corresponds to the open circuit voltage E2.
V = E2-I × R2 (2)

In step S8, it is determined whether or not the difference ΔR = | R1−R2 | between the internal resistance R1 based on the low current region data in step S5 and the internal resistance R2 based on the high current region data in step S7 is equal to or greater than a predetermined value. . That is, it is determined whether or not the deviation from the linearity in the high current region is large. For example, the example shown in FIG. 5 shows a case where ΔR ≧ (predetermined value), and is a case where the difference in slope between the characteristic lines L1 and L2, which is the difference between the resistance values R1 and R2, is large. On the other hand, characteristic lines L1 and L2 shown in FIG. 6 show a case where ΔR <(predetermined value), and the difference in inclination between the characteristic line L1 and the characteristic line L2 is small.

As shown in FIG. 5, in the case where the inclination is greatly different and ΔR ≧ (predetermined value), it is determined as YES and the process proceeds to Step S9. On the other hand, if the difference in inclination is small and ΔR <(predetermined value) as shown in FIG. 6, the determination is NO and the process proceeds from step S8 to step S12. First, a case where ΔR <(predetermined value) and the process proceeds to step S12 will be described. In this case, since the deviation of the internal resistance in the high current region is small and almost linear in the entire current region, the sampling data of all the current regions stocked in the storage units CL1 to CL3 and CH4 to CH7 are used. A linear regression calculation is performed using the IV characteristic line L3 (see FIG. 6).

Pmax=Vmin×(E0−Vmin)/R …(3)
In the subsequent step S13, the maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated by the following equation (3) using the slope R and V intercept E0 of the IV characteristic line L3. Vmin is a discharge end voltage, and as shown in FIG. 6, the maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated from the current value and the voltage value Vmin at the intersection of the straight line passing through Vmin and parallel to the Wh axis and the IV characteristic line L3. This is to obtain the IV characteristic straight line from the sampling data in the entire current region as in the conventional case, but since the processing in steps S4 and S6 is performed, the sampling data distribution has no bias in the entire current region. Therefore, a more accurate regression calculation can be performed. If the process of step S13 is completed, the process proceeds to step S10.
Pmax = Vmin × (E0−Vmin) / R (3)

On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 5, the case where the inclination is greatly different and it is determined in step S8 that ΔR ≧ (predetermined value) and the process proceeds to step S9 will be described. In step S9, the maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated. The maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated using the discharge end voltage Vmin and the current value at that time. At this time, a straight line passing through Vmin and parallel to the Wh axis intersects with the IV characteristic straight line in a high current region.

Pmax=Imax×Vmin
=Vmin×(E2−Vmin)/R2 …(4)
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 5, when the difference in slope between the IV characteristic lines L1 and L2 is large, the actual battery state can be changed by using the IV characteristic line L2 representing the characteristics in the high current region. The reflected maximum discharge power Pmax can be calculated with high accuracy. That is, as shown in FIG. 5, the intersection point between the IV characteristic straight line L2 in the high current region obtained in step S7 and a straight line passing through the Vmin and parallel to the Wh axis is obtained, The maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated by the following equation (4).
Pmax = Imax × Vmin
= Vmin × (E2−Vmin) / R2 (4)

Next, the case where it progresses to step S14 from step S4 or step S6 is demonstrated. In this case, the number of sampling data stocked in the storage units CL1 to CL3 and CH4 to CH7 is insufficient, or the data distribution is biased. In step S14, the variable N is increased by 1 with N = N + 1. The calculation of the maximum discharge power Pmax in step S9 and step S12 described above is performed for each predetermined amount of power. However, the variable N in step S14 indicates that the calculation of the maximum discharge power Pmax using the IV characteristics is not performed continuously due to the lack of the number of data. The initial value is set to zero. If it is determined NO in step S4, the subsequent calculation of the maximum discharge power Pmax is not executed. Therefore, N is increased by 1 in step S14, and if it is determined NO in step S6, the process proceeds to step S14 and N is increased by 1. .

In step S15, it is determined whether or not the variable N is equal to or greater than the specified number of times. If it is determined that the variable N is equal to or greater than the specified number of times, the process proceeds to step S11. When the process proceeds to step S16, the maximum discharge power Pmax based on the IV characteristic straight line cannot be calculated, and the current maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated using the Wh-P characteristic of FIG.

In FIG. 2 described above, it has been described that the discharge power amount WhP and SOC ′ are calculated using the maximum discharge power Pmax and the Wh-P characteristic calculated from the IV characteristics. However, in step S16, conversely, the accumulated discharge power WhR is accumulated from the voltage value V and the current value I that are constantly measured by the voltage sensor 5 and the current sensor 6, and the accumulated discharge power WhR as shown in FIG. The maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated using the Wh-P characteristic. In this case, a table relating to the maximum discharge power and the discharge power amount based on the Wh-P basic characteristics is prepared in advance, and the maximum discharge is calculated by linear interpolation calculation from the table using the discharge power integrated amount WhR as the discharge power amount. Power Pmax.

Actually, a table based on the Wh-P initial characteristic of the battery 1 is stored in the storage unit of the controller 4, and the actual value obtained by correcting the Wh-P initial characteristic in accordance with the temperature and deterioration of the battery 1. The maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated using the Wh-P characteristic. As correction coefficients, there are a temperature correction coefficient α, a capacity deterioration correction coefficient β representing a capacity change due to deterioration, and an internal resistance deterioration correction coefficient γ representing an internal resistance change due to deterioration.

The correction coefficient α is given in advance as a table, and the correction coefficients β and γ are set according to the battery state. For example, the correlation between the correction coefficients β and γ is obtained in advance, the correction coefficient γ is calculated based on the change over time of the internal resistance R obtained from the IV characteristic straight line, and the correction coefficient γ and the correlation are used. A correction coefficient β is obtained.

Pmax=P(WhR/β)×α×γ …(5)
As shown in FIG. 7, the initial characteristic representing the relationship between Wh and P is P = P 0 (Wh). At this time, the characteristic obtained by correcting P = P 0 (Wh) with the temperature correction coefficient α is expressed as P = P 0 (Wh) × α. When P = P 0 (Wh) × α is further corrected with the internal resistance deterioration correction coefficient γ, the corrected characteristic becomes P = P 0 (Wh) × α × γ. When P = P 0 (Wh) × α × γ is corrected with the capacity deterioration correction coefficient β, the final characteristic is expressed as P = P 0 (Wh / β) × α × γ. As shown in Expression (5), the maximum discharge power Pmax can be obtained by substituting the integrated discharge power WhR into this characteristic.
Pmax = P 0 (WhR / β) × α × γ (5)

WhP=Wh(Pmax/αγ)×β …(6)
If the maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated in step S16, the process proceeds to step S17, the variable N is reset to zero, and the process proceeds to step S10. At the time when the process of step S10 is performed, the maximum discharge power Pmax is calculated in any of step S9, step S13, and step S16. In step S10, as shown in FIG. 8, the discharge power amount WhP is calculated from the calculated maximum discharge power Pmax and the initial characteristic Wh 0 (P) by the following equation (6).
WhP = Wh 0 (Pmax / αγ) × β (6)

In FIG. 8, the Wh-P characteristic represents Wh = Wh (P), and Wh 0 (P) represents the initial characteristic of the battery 1. The characteristic obtained by correcting the initial characteristic Wh 0 (P) by the capacity deterioration correction coefficient β is Wh 0 (P) × β, and the characteristic Wh 0 (P) × β is expressed by the temperature correction coefficient α and the internal resistance deterioration correction coefficient γ. Those corrected in order are Wh 0 (P / α) × β and Wh 0 (P / αγ) × β. Further, when wh = 0 is made to correspond to SOC = 100% and Wh 0 (Pmin / αγ) × β is made to correspond to SOC = 0%, the current state of charge SOC ′ is obtained from the maximum discharge power Pmax. Pmin is the maximum discharge power at the discharge end voltage Vmin.

When the calculation of the discharge power amount WhP in step S10 is completed, the process proceeds to step S11 to erase all sampling data stored in the storage units CL1 to CL3 and CH1 to CH4, and the process returns to step S1. Using the maximum discharge power Pmax and the discharge power amount WhP calculated in this way, discharge control and charge control of the battery 1 and calculation of the remaining capacity are performed.

FIG. 9 is a diagram for explaining a case where the regression calculation is performed using the sampling data of the entire current region shown in FIG. FIG. 9 shows a comparison between the maximum discharge power Pmax (calculated value) calculated from the IV characteristics obtained by the regression calculation and the actual maximum discharge power Pmax (true value). In this case, the IV characteristic straight line L4 is calculated by the regression calculation, and the internal resistance R and the open circuit voltage E0 (calculated value) as the V intercept are obtained from the IV characteristic straight line L4. By substituting, the maximum discharge power Pmax (calculated value) is calculated.

However, the actual IV characteristic is as shown by the broken line L5, and it can be seen that the maximum discharge power Pmax (calculated value) is deviated from Pmax (true value). In the example shown in FIG. 9, since the internal resistance is large in the high current region, Pmax (calculated value)> Pmax (true value) is calculated to be larger than the actual value. If Pmax (calculated value) is calculated to be larger than Pmax (true value) in this way, the output limit seems to be delayed and suddenly limited, or the SOC is calculated to be higher and the power is taken out from the battery. May be overestimated as being sufficiently possible. Conversely, if Pmax (calculated value) is calculated to be smaller than Pmax (true value), the output will be restricted early, so sudden restrictions will apply and the cruising distance and fuel consumption will be reduced, or the SOC will be lowered. There is a possibility that it is calculated and it is determined that there is no room for power extraction although it can actually be extracted from the battery 1 or that supplementary charging is necessary.

On the other hand, in the present embodiment, when the sampling data as shown in FIG. 5 is acquired, the maximum discharge power Pmax (calculation) is calculated based on the IV characteristic line L3 obtained by linear regression of the sampling data in the high current region. Value) is calculated. Therefore, an IV characteristic straight line reflecting actual internal resistance in a high current region is obtained, and a deviation from Pmax (true value) is reduced, and the maximum discharge power Pmax can be calculated with high accuracy.

The deviation from the linearity of the IV characteristic as shown in FIG. 5 is likely to occur when the current value increases rapidly or the SOC is low. Further, as a characteristic of the battery, there may be a region deviating from linearity. Even in such a case, according to the calculation method of the present embodiment, the maximum discharge power Pmax can be accurately calculated.

In the correspondence between the embodiment described above and the elements of the claims, the IV characteristic line L1 represents the low current region IV characteristic, the IV characteristic line L2 represents the high current region IV characteristic, and the IV characteristic line L3 represents the entire current region. Each of the IV characteristics is configured. In addition, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiment as long as the characteristics of the present invention are not impaired.
