Description
本発明は、ルータにおいて、ネットワークに接続するための物理ポートを選択的に構成(コンフィギュア)する方法および装置に関する。本発明の好ましい実施例において、ルータは複数の物理ポートのうち1つを、LANまたはWANと共に使用するために、構成し適応させることができる。
Claims (11)
- LANインタフェースおよびWANインタフェースを有するルータにおいて、ネットワークに結合するための複数の物理ポートのいずれかを構成する方法であって、
前記ネットワークで使用する前記複数の物理ポートのいずれかを構成するためにメッセージを受信するステップと、
前記メッセージの受信に応じて、前記複数の物理ポートのいずれかを使用して前記ネットワークにアクセスするために一組のマッピング・アサインメントを関連付けるステップと、
前記マッピング・アサインメントの関連付けに応じて、前記ネットワークに結合する前記複数の物理ポートのいずれかを構成するために、前記マッピング・アサインメントを実行するステップと、
を含み、
前記実行するステップは、前記複数の物理ポートのいずれかが前記LANインタフェースに結合されるか前記WANインタフェースに結合されるかを選択的に制御する方法。 - 前記マッピング・アサインメントを記憶するステップを更に含む、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記ネットワークがワイドエリア・ネットワーク(WAN)である、請求項1または2記載の方法。
- 前記ネットワークがローカルエリア・ネットワーク(LAN)である、請求項1または2記載の方法。
- 前記ルータが接続された前記ネットワークが、前記実行するステップの以前は、ローカルエリア・ネットワーク(LAN)であり、前記実行するステップの以後は、ワイドエリア・ネットワーク(WAN)である、請求項1乃至4のうちいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記メッセージが、SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol)SETコマンドを使用して実行される、請求項1乃至5のうちいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記メッセージがHTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol)データを使用して実行される、請求項1乃至5のうちいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1つのハードウェア・スイッチの設定変更を検出した後に、前記メッセージが発生される、請求項1乃至5のうちいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記メッセージが、ルータの専有コマンド・メッセージを使用して実行される、請求項1乃至5のうちいずれか1項記載の方法。
- ネットワークに結合するための複数の物理ポートを有し、LANインタフェースおよびWANインタフェースを更に有するルータであって、
前記ネットワークで使用する前記複数の物理ポートのいずれかを構成するためにメッセージを受信する手段と、
前記メッセージの受信に応じて、前記複数の物理ポートのいずれかを使用して前記ネットワークにアクセスするために一組のマッピング・アサインメントを関連付ける手段と、
前記マッピング・アサインメントの関連付けに応じて、前記ネットワークに結合する前記複数の物理ポートのいずれかを構成するために、前記マッピング・アサインメントを実行する手段と、
を含み、
前記実行する手段は、前記複数の物理ポートのいずれかが前記LANインタフェースに結合されるか前記WANインタフェースに結合されるかを選択的に制御するルータ。 - プロセッサ、前記プロセッサと通信するメモリ、およびWAN/LANポート・マネージャを有すると共に前記プロセッサと通信するサポート回路と、
前記LANインタフェースまたは前記WANインタフェースに選択的に接続可能な複数の物理ポートと、
を含み、
前記WAN/LANポート・マネージャは、前記構成メッセージに応じて、前記複数の物理ポートの各々が前記LANインタフェースに結合されるか前記WANインタフェースに結合されるかを制御する請求項10記載のルータ。
