この発明は、車室内の照明装置に関するものであり、特に、車室のルーフ部分の照明効果を高めた透過式ルーフ照明装置に係るものである。

【従来の技術】
従来から、車室内のルーフ部に電球、シェード及びスイッチ類を一体に組み込んだランプユニットが用いられている。このランプユニットを用いることで、運転席、助手席における夜間の視認性を確保して、夜間でも地図等の読み取りが容易に行えるようになっている。
ところで、近年車両に対するニーズの多様化に伴い、照明装置に対する考え方も変化しつつあり、照明を単に実用的な側面だけでとらえるのではなく、夜間の演出としてとらえ、より心地さを与えるものとして位置づける傾向がある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところが、従来のようにランプユニットを用いた照明装置においては、このようなニーズに対して柔軟に対応することができないという問題がある。例えば、発光部分を全体に広げようとすると、電球の光を拡散させるためのレンズ、反射板等の構造体が必要となり、その結果車室内への突出部分が増加して車室内スぺースを狭くしてしまうという問題がある。また、発光部分の面積を増加させるために、ランプユニットを複数配置することも可能であるが、組み付け工数が増加するという問題がある。
そこで、この発明は、車室内スペースを狭くすることなく、組み付け工数が少なくて済み、夜間において照明による演出効果を高めることができる透過式ルーフ照明装置を提供するものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記課題を解決するために、請求項1に記載した発明は、発光体であるEL素子シート(例えば、実施の形態におけるEL素子シート13)を光透過性のある表皮(例えば、実施の形態における表皮14)と積層するルーフ材(例えば、実施の形態におけるルーフ材3)として構成し、前記ルーフ材と、このルーフ材に取り付けられるガーニッシュ(例えば、実施の形態におけるガーニッシュ5)との間に設けられた隙間部分(例えば、実施の形態における隙間部分S)に他の発光体(例えば、実施の形態におけるLEDライト10)を内蔵し、前記他の発光体は、連なるように設けた複数のランプ(例えば、実施形態におけるランプ19)を透明な部材からなるケーシング(例えば、実施形態におけるケーシング22)で覆われて、前記隙間部分に沿って前記EL素子シートを覆う前記表皮と前記ガーニッシュとの間に配置されると共に前記表皮に接着され、前記ガーニッシュを支持する補強材となっていることを特徴とする。
このように構成することで、ルーフ材に一体化しルーフ材に沿って突出することなく薄型化して配置することが可能となる。また、ルーフ材を組み立てれば照明装置を組み立てることになる。
更に、他の発光体による間接照明効果も加わってより斬新な照明効果を発揮させることができる。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、この発明の実施の形態を図面と共に説明する。
図1に示すように車体1のルーフ部2には車室内側にルーフ材3が設けられている。

図2に車室内側から見た斜視図として示すように、前記ルーフ材3は樹脂などから成形され、図示しないルーフ開口部の周縁を構成するルーフレールに取り付けられるものである。ルーフ材3には車幅方向中央部に前後方向に渡ってガーニッシュ5が取り付られている。

図3に示すようにガーニッシュ5はルーフ材3に設けられた取付部6に係合して固定されるものであり、ガーニッシュ本体7と表皮部8を有している。ガーニッシュ本体7には前記ルーフ材3の取付部6に対する係合部9が設けられ、ガーニッシュ本体7の両側部のルーフ材3側には後述する他の発光体としてのLEDライト10の収納部11が形成されている。ガーニッシュ本体7の両側部はLEDライト10の収納部11側、つまりルーフ材3側に向かって暫時傾斜して形成され、車室内側面に取り付けられた表皮部8の端末8aがガーニッシュ本体7の両側部から延出してルーフ材3に近接するようになっている。この表皮材8の端末8aとルーフ材3との間から前記LEDライト10の収納部11に渡る部分が隙間部分Sを構成する。

前記ルーフ材3は基材12と発光体であるEL素子シート13を光透過性のある粗目の表皮14と積層して構成されている。
ルーフ材3の基材12には車幅方向を中心にして左半部と右半部に一般部12aよりも肉厚の薄い薄肉部12bが設けられている。そして、この薄肉部12bの表面に、両面テープなどの接着剤15を介してEL素子シート13が取り付けられ、更にこのEL素子シート13にニットなどの光透過性のある粗目の表皮14が両面テープなどの接着剤15を介して積層されている。

したがって、EL素子シート13と表皮14とを重合しても基材12の一般部12aの厚さ寸法内に収まる。
ここで、EL素子シート13は、有機エレクトロ・ルミネッサンスを用いて発光を行うもので、無機半導体で構成されたLED(Light Emitting Device)と同様の原理で発光するものである。発光色が自然でフレキシブルである点が特徴であり、例えば、高分子有機材料をスピンコート法などにより薄膜化して製造される。尚、図3においてEL素子シート13の一側部(金属ハッチング部分)は導通線として構成されている。

この実施の形態では、図2、図5に示すように左右で4枚づつ合計8枚のEL素子シート13が配置され、各EL素子シート13はELインバータ16を介して自動車バッテリ電源17に接続されている。ここで、18はスイッチを示し、全てのEL素子シート13を同時にON・OFFさせるようにしているが、各EL素子シート13ごとにスイッチを設けて各EL素子シート13を独立して発光させるようにしてもよい。
尚、表皮14としては、EL素子シート13からの光を車室内に照射できる光透過性があればニット等の粗目の表皮に限らず、不織布などでもよく、また、透明度のある樹脂材を使用することもできる。

そして、上記収納部11には図4に示すように複数のランプ19を備えたLEDライト10が両面テープなどの接着剤20により取り付けられている。
LEDライト10は、白色高輝度LED製のランプ19をメタライズアクリル板などの反射板21に取り付け、これをエポキシキャスティングにより製造されたケーシング(アクリル角材であってもよい)22により覆い、ケーシング22のランプ照射方向側の面に塩化ビニル製の拡散板23を設けたものである。
そして、LEDライト10は、前記拡散板23が配置された側の面をガーニッシュ本体7の表皮部8の端末8aとルーフ材3との間に指向させた状態で収納部11に内蔵されている。尚、このLEDライト10はガーニッシュ5を支持する補強材としても機能している。

図6に示すように、この実施の形態では前記ランプ19は20個直列で接続したものを抵抗Rに接続し、更にこれらを10段並列に接続して回路を形成し、この回路をランプスイッチ25を介して前記自動車バッテリ電源17に接続してある。

上記実施の形態によれば、スイッチ18をONにすると、各EL素子シート13が発光することにより、車室内のルーフ材3のガーニッシュ5以外の部分が表皮14を透過して発光するため、従来にない斬新な照明効果により乗員に心地良さを与えることができる。
また、EL素子シート13と表皮14とを基材12の薄肉部12bに重合しても基材12の一般部12aの厚さ寸法内に薄型化して収められているため、車室内にランプユニットが突出していた従来に比較して車室内スペースを広く確保することができる。

そして、前記ランプスイッチ25をONにすると、更に、各ランプ19が点灯してLEDライト10がガーニッシュ5の両側で点灯するため、前記ガーニッシュ5とルーフ材3との間から光が漏れ出す間接照明効果により、より一層心地良い照明効果を発揮することができる。尚、ガーニッシュ5の表皮部8により、LEDライト10が見えないため、外観品質を損ねることもない。
また、EL素子シート13や表皮14はルーフ材3に組み込まれ、ルーフ材3を組み立てれば照明装置を組み立てることになるため、従来のように発光部分の面積を確保するために複数のルームランプを組み付けた場合に比較して組み付け工数を削減できる。
そして、LEDライト10による間接照明効果も加わってより斬新な照明効果を発揮させることができるため、照明による演出効果が高まり、夜間の車室内をより好感のもてるものとすることができる。

尚、この発明は上記実施の形態に限られるものではなく、例えば、ルーフ材3の全面ではなく一部の面にEL素子シート13を配置するようにしてもよい。また、スイッチ18とランプスイッチ25とを共用し、EL素子シート13とLEDライト10を1つのスイッチで同時にON・OFFさせることもできる。更に、この実施の形態では、ガーニッシュ5を車幅方向の中央部に設け、このガーニッシュ5に沿ってLEDライト10を配置した場合について説明したが、ガーニッシュ5の配置位置は車幅方向中央部に限られず、ルーフ材3の周囲であってもそれ以外の部位であってもよい。そして、前記EL素子シート13の枚数は8枚に限られず、また、各EL素子シート13の各々の色を変えたり、各EL素子シート13を時間差をもって点滅させるなど自由な設定が可能である。そして、前記接着剤15,20に替えてクリップなどの他の固定手段を用いてもよい。

【発明の効果】
以上説明してきたように、請求項1に記載した発明によれば、ルーフ材に一体化することでルーフ材に沿って突出することなく配置することが可能となるため、車室内スペースを広く確保することができる効果がある。また、ルーフ材を組み立てれば照明装置を組み立てることになるため、組み付け工数を削減できる効果がある。
