Description
図1を参照すると、1は機関本体、2は各気筒の燃焼室、3は各燃焼室2内に夫々燃料を噴射するための電子制御式燃料噴射弁、4は吸気マニホルド、5は排気マニホルドを夫々示す。吸気マニホルド4は吸気ダクト6を介して排気ターボチャージャ7のコンプレッサ7aの出口に連結され、コンプレッサ7aの入口は吸入空気量を検出するためのエアフローメータ8を介してエアクリーナ9に連結される。吸気ダクト6内にはステップモータにより駆動されるスロットル弁10が配置され、更に吸気ダクト6周りには吸気ダクト6内を流れる吸入空気を冷却するための冷却装置11が配置される。図1に示される実施例では機関冷却水が冷却装置11内に導かれ、機関冷却水によって吸入空気が冷却される。
図10を参照するとまず初めにステップ60においてNOX吸蔵触媒15に単位時間当り吸蔵されるNOX量NOXAが算出される。このNOX量NOXAは要求トルクTQおよび機関回転数Nの関数として図11に示すマップの形で予めROM32内に記憶されている。次いでステップ61ではこのNOXAがNOX吸蔵触媒15に吸蔵されているNOX量ΣNOXに加算される。次いでステップ62では図9(C)に示すマップから単位時間当り捕獲されるSOX量SOXAが算出される。次いでステップ63ではこのSOXAがSOXトラップ触媒13に捕獲されているSOX捕獲量Sに加算される。

Claims (9)
- 機関排気通路内に排気ガス中に含まれるSOXを捕獲するSOXトラップ触媒を配置し、SOXトラップ触媒下流の排気通路内に排気浄化触媒を配置した内燃機関において、機関出力を発生させるための燃焼室内への燃料噴射完了後であって燃焼可能な時期に燃焼室内に補助燃料を噴射する補助燃料噴射手段を具備しており、該補助燃料が噴射されたときに低下する燃焼室内の燃焼ガスの空燃比であって該SOXトラップ触媒に捕獲されているSOXが放出されることのない最小許容空燃比が予め求められており、排気浄化触媒の浄化処理のために必要な量の該補助燃料を噴射しても該燃焼ガスの空燃比が該最小許容空燃比まで低下しないときには該必要な量の該補助燃料を噴射し、排気浄化触媒の浄化処理のために必要な量の該補助燃料を噴射すると該燃焼ガスの空燃比が該最小許容空燃比以下まで低下するときには該補助燃料の噴射量を該必要な量よりも減少させて該燃焼ガスの空燃比が該最小許容空燃比以下まで低下しないようにした内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記補助燃料の噴射時期は圧縮上死点後90度の範囲内であって機関出力の発生にほとんど寄与しない時期である請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 該補助燃料の噴射量が上記必要な量よりも減少せしめられたときには減少分の燃料をSOXトラップ触媒を排気浄化触媒間の排気通路内に供給するようにした請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記SOXトラップ触媒は、SOXトラップ触媒に流入する排気ガスの空燃比がリーンのときには排気ガス中に含まれるSOXを捕獲し、排気ガスの空燃比がリーンのもとでSOXトラップ触媒の温度が上昇すると捕獲したSOXが次第にSOXトラップ触媒の内部に拡散していく性質を有する請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記最小許容空燃比はSOXトラップ触媒のSOX捕獲量およびSOXトラップ触媒の温度の関数として予め記憶されている請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記最小許容空燃比はSOXトラップ触媒のSOX捕獲量が増大するにつれてリッチ空燃比からリーン空燃比へと大きくなる請求項5に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記排気浄化触媒は、流入する排気ガスの空燃比がリーンのときには排気ガス中に含まれるNOXを吸蔵し流入する排気ガスの空燃比が理論空燃比又はリッチになると吸蔵したNOXを放出するNOX吸蔵触媒からなり、NOX吸蔵触媒からNOXを放出すべくNOX吸蔵触媒に流入する排気ガスの空燃比をリッチにするのに必要な量の上記補助燃料を噴射しても上記燃焼ガスの空燃比が上記最小許容空燃比まで低下しないときには該必要な量の該補助燃料を噴射して該燃焼ガスの空燃比をリッチにし、NOX吸蔵触媒からNOXを放出すべくNOX吸蔵触媒に流入する排気ガスの空燃比をリッチにするのに必要な量の該補助燃料を噴射すると該燃焼ガスの空燃比が該最小許容空燃比以下まで低下するときには該補助燃料の噴射量を該必要な量よりも減少させて該燃焼ガスの空燃比が該最小許容空燃比以下まで低下しないようにした請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記SOXトラップ触媒と上記NOX吸蔵触媒間の機関排気通路内に燃料供給弁を配置し、上記補助燃料の噴射量が上記必要な量よりも減少せしめられたときには減少分の燃料を該燃料供給弁から供給するようにした請求項7に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 上記必要な量の補助燃料を噴射すると上記燃焼ガスの空燃比が上記最小許容空燃比以下まで低下するときには該補助燃料の噴射量を該燃焼ガスの空燃比が該最小許容空燃比となるまで減少させるようにした請求項7に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
