Description
副搬送波ブロードキャストモードにおいて、腕時計トランシーバ209は、受信のみのモードになっている。ブロードキャストパケットを受信するようにMCUによってコマンドさると、DSPは、指示された局に関するトラッキング情報を参照する。この局に関して情報が存在しなければ、受信リクエストは、中断され、エラーがMCUに返される。この情報を使用して、DSPは、パケットを構成する16セグメントの予期される到着時間を判定する。セグメント受信コマンドのリストが生成され、DSPメモリに格納される。
開示した実施形態においては、ブロードキャストデータは、データ伝送ネットワークセンタ(図11の1101参照)にて、通常待ち時間のデータあるいは「通常フレームデータ」と、「高速フレームデータ」の2つのグループに分類される。データセンタは、衛星または同様の手段により、ブロードキャストのフレームレートと同期して、フレームデータをブロードキャスト信号発生器に受け渡す。データは、ブロックで受け渡されてもよい。一例を挙げれば、通常フレームデータは、高速フレームセクションに続いて、送ることができる。後に、図5および図7に示したように、次の高速フレームセクションが、任意の爾後の高速フレームセクションに続いて、送られる。このプロセスは、各フレームにおいて繰り返される。
次に論じるのは、図5〜9と関連して、本発明のひとつの実施形態により伝送される通信の特定のデータフォーマットについてである。開示した実施形態は、しかしながらひとつのフォーマットであり、代替については、本発明の教示から当業者には容易に明らかとなるであろう。
先に記載し、図1に示したように、開示した通信システムは、3つの主要な動作モードを有している。これらは、副搬送波ブロードキャストモード(「ブロードキャスト」)109、ローカルキャストモード(「ローカルキャスト」)111、および「ピアツーピア」モード117である。後者の2つのモードは、ローカルリンクを介して直接変調された主チャンネルのFMシグナリングを用い、前者のモードは、1つまたは複数の商用FM局の地理的サービスエリア内での広域FM副搬送波ブロードキャスティングを用いる。以下の議論により、これら動作モードのそれぞれについて詳述し、対比する。
ブロードキャストモードは、1つまたは複数のブロードキャスト送信機から1つまたは複数の腕時計に情報を単信転送するものである。FM副搬送波変調を用いて、商用FM局を介して情報を伝送する。腕時計101、121は、腕時計バンドに埋め込まれたアンテナを経由してこのFM副搬送波信号を受信し、受信した信号を復調、解析し、制御のMCUに情報を受け渡す。
ローカルモードは、ローカルキャストモードとピアツーピアモードの2つのモードに分けられる。これらのモードは、共通の伝送フォーマットを共用する。直接FM変調を用いて、局所的に未使用のFM周波数を介して情報を伝送する。腕時計は、腕時計バンドに埋め込まれたアンテナを経由してこのFM信号を送受信し、受信したデータを復調、解析し、MCUに情報を受け渡す。
通例、MCUコマンドと同時に、トランシーバは、MCUが選択した局の主チャンネル信号(そしてその信号の韻律(cadence))、および副搬送波信号の有無をテストする。ローカルでの発見法の最初の部分は、提供された局のリストを使って、FMバンドをスキャンし、観測した使用法に従って利用可能な周波数を分類することである。これを行うためには、受信信号強度(RSSI)をおそらくは1キロヘルツの帯域でフィルタし、デジタル化する。考えられる結果には、アクティブFM局、ローカルチャンネル伝送、または空のチャンネルが含まれる。腕時計は、同時に、それにとって利用可能なすべての周波数のトラッキング情報を格納することができるであろう。アクティブFM局は、理想的には、変動していない信号か、または顕著なマルチパスを持ち、このシステムのローカルキャストフォーマットと相関のない変動するRSSIとして、現れるであろう。適当な副搬送波信号がその局で検出可能であれば、これについても報告することになる。ローカルのチャンネル伝送は、とりわけ安定したRSSIであるが、ローカルキャストフォーマットのパケット間のパワーオフ期間に対応したかなり低いRSSIをもつのこぎり状のRSSIとして現われるであろう。トランシーバは、見つかった韻律の情報を報告することになるが、伝送の種類に関する最終判定は、MCUによりデータレベルで行われるべきである。最後に、空のチャンネルは、継続的に低いRSSIとなるであろう。
送信されるべきパケットは、MCUによって送信ブロックと呼ばれる構造でのDSPのメモリ空間に格納される。これらのブロックには、使用するFM周波数のような、制御情報も入っている。伝送に先立って、DSPがデータを予めフィルタし、RTDによって必要とされる送信サンプルに変換する。ローカルキャストの物理層のパケット構造も、この時点で付け加えられる。ひとつの実施例においては、512ビットのローカルキャストパケットが、RTDに提示されるときには2304バイトの信号サンプルになる。
Claims (12)
- 無線通信を行うためのシステムであって、
予め決められたスケジュールでワイドエリア中の複数のモバイルデバイスにFM副搬送波チャンネルを介してブロードキャスト情報を伝送するように構成されたブロードキャスト伝送システムと、
前記ワイドエリアよりも小さいローカルエリア中の少なくとも1つのモバイルデバイスとの間でFM帯域を介してローカル情報を送受信するように構成されたローカルキャスト伝送システムと、
モバイルデバイスであって、
ブロードキャストモードにおいて、前記ブロードキャスト伝送システムから前記FM副搬送波チャネルを介して前記ブロードキャスト情報を受信し、
ローカルキャストモードにおいて、前記ローカルキャスト伝送システムとの間で前記FM帯域を介して前記ローカル情報を送受信し、
ピアツーピアモードにおいて、別のモバイルデバイスとの間で前記FM帯域を介してピア情報を送受信するように構成された送受信機を含むモバイルデバイスと
を備えたことを特徴とするシステム。 - 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記ローカル伝送システムは、データソースを備えたことを特徴とするシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記FM帯域は、FM帯域の局所的に未使用の部分であることを特徴とするシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記モバイルデバイスは、人の手首に装着されるようにさらに構成されたことを特徴とするシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記モバイルデバイスは、ページングユニット内で動作するようにさらに構成されたことを特徴とするシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記モバイルデバイスは、携帯電話内で動作するようにさらに構成されたことを特徴とするシステム。
- 無線通信を行うためのモバイルデバイスであって、
ブロードキャストモードにおいて、ブロードキャスト送信機からFM副搬送波を介してブロードキャスト情報を受信し、
ローカルキャストモードにおいて、ローカルキャスト受信機にFM帯域を介してローカルキャスト情報を送信し、
ローカルキャストモードにおいて、ローカルキャスト送信機からFM帯域を介してローカルキャスト情報を受信し、
ピアツーピアモードにおいて、別のモバイルデバイスにFM帯域を介してピア情報を送信し、
ピアツーピアモードにおいて、別のモバイルデバイスにFM帯域を介してピア情報を受信するように構成されたことを特徴とするモバイルデバイス。 - 請求項7に記載のモバイルデバイスであって、
前記モバイルデバイスは、前記ローカルキャスト送信機に結合されたデータソースから前記ローカルキャスト情報を受信するように構成されたことを特徴とするモバイルデバイス。 - 請求項7に記載のモバイルデバイスであって、前記FM帯域は、FM帯域の局所的に未使用の部分であることを特徴とするモバイルデバイス。
