Description
第1の発明によれば、上方部分の前端部が下方部分の前端部よりも車両後方側に位置するように形成される。したがって、サージタンク前方領域、すなわちエンジンフード前方領域においてはサージタンクの下方部分のみしかなく、上方部分は存在しない。そのため、この領域においてエンジンフードの高さを低いものとすることができる。
なお、本明細書中において、「前方」および「後方」とは、多気筒エンジンが配置される車両の前方および後方をそれぞれ意味するものであり、また「上方」および「下方」とは、多気筒エンジンが配置される車両の鉛直方向上方および下方をそれぞれ意味するものである。
また、第1の発明によれば、サージタンクの上方部分への吸気管の連結方向(以下、「吸気管連結方向」と称す)と上方部分への吸気枝管の連結方向(以下、「吸気枝管連結方向」と称す)との間の角度が大きいものとされるため、吸気管からサージタンクの上方部分を介して吸気枝管へと流れる吸気ガスの流方向が大きく変化することがなく、よってこのような吸気ガスはサージタンク内を流れやすくなる。すなわち、吸気ガスに対する吸気抵抗を小さくすることができる。

Claims (1)
- それぞれ複数の気筒から構成される二つの気筒列を備える多気筒エンジンの吸気装置において、
当該吸気装置が上記多気筒エンジンに取付けられたときに上記多気筒エンジンのシリンダヘッドよりも高い位置に配置されると共に内部空間が上方部分と下方部分とに分割されているサージタンクと、該サージタンクと上記多気筒エンジンの各吸気ポートとを連通させる複数の吸気枝管とを具備し、
上記多気筒エンジンの一方の気筒列に通じる吸気枝管が上記サージタンクの上方部分に連結されると共に他方の気筒列に通じる吸気枝管が上記サージタンクの下方部分に連結されており、
上記サージタンクは、当該吸気装置が車両に搭載された多気筒エンジンに取付けられたときに、上記上方部分の前端部が上記下方部分の前端部よりも車両後方側にずれて位置するように形成され、
上記サージタンクの上方部分と下方部分とはその吸気上流側において同一の吸気管に連結され、上記上方部分は該上方部分への上記吸気管の連結方向と該上方部分への各吸気枝管の連結方向との間の角度が、上記下方部分への上記吸気管の連結方向と該下方部分への各吸気枝管の連結方向との間の角度よりも大きくなるように上記下方部分に対して角度がつけられており、上記上方部分は、上記下方部分に対して吸気管がサージタンクに連結される地点近傍を中心として、サージタンクに吸気枝管が連結される側とは反対側に向かって回転移動せしめられたような形態となっている、多気筒エンジンの吸気装置。
