【0001】

The light emitted from the light source is collected in one direction by the optical means, so that the light intensity in the collecting direction monotonously decreases from the center to the periphery of the optical pupil, and the optical pupil Having a light intensity distribution such that the light intensity in the condensing direction is weaker than the light intensity in the direction orthogonal to the condensing direction at a position away from the center by a predetermined distance;
It is characterized by.
[0009]
In the video display device according to the present invention, the optical pupil has different light intensity distributions depending on the directions orthogonal to each other in the plane, so that the optical pupil is easily observed as a large optical pupil in one direction, and light is used efficiently. Bright images can be displayed.
[0011]
A video display apparatus according to the present invention, the optical pupil is able to display a bright image by the following 3mm the condensing direction, easily observed by more than 3mm in the direction orthogonal to the light collecting direction.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of a video display device according to the present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0017]
(Refer 1st Embodiment and FIGS. 1-3)
FIG. 1 shows a schematic configuration of a video display apparatus according to the first embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 1A shows an optical path on a plane in the y direction, and FIG. 1B shows an optical path on a plane in the x direction.

Here, a cross section of the light intensity distribution in the x direction and the y direction at the center of the optical pupil 9 of the image center light beam is shown in FIG. In FIG. 3, the horizontal axis represents position coordinates in the optical pupil plane, and the vertical axis represents light intensity. Further, the light intensity distribution Wx in the x direction and the light intensity distribution Wy in the y direction are shown superimposed. The light intensity distribution Wx in the x direction has an intensity of 0.8 or more in the X range, and the light intensity distribution Wy in the y direction has an intensity of 0.8 or more in the Y range. In the first embodiment, X is 12 mm and Y is 4 mm.
[0023]
It should be noted that the change in brightness is usually seen by the human eye when there is an intensity difference of about twice, so an intensity difference of 0.8 to 1.0 is within an acceptable range for uneven brightness.
[0024]

[0037]
Here, the relationship between the incident angle, wavelength, and chromatic dispersion in the hologram element will be described. Consider light Ra incident on the hologram element stripe at an incident angle θ, and light Rb having an angle deviation Δθ with respect to the light Ra. However, θ is not 0. When the light Rb is incident in a plane parallel to the incident surface of the light Ra, the incident angle of the light Rb is θ ± Δθ (the sign varies depending on the direction of the angular deviation of the light Rb), and the angular deviation is the same as the light Ra. This is a difference in incident angle with the light Rb. On the other hand, when the light Rb is incident within a plane perpendicular to the incident surface of the light Ra, the deviation from the incident angle θ is smaller than when the light Rb is incident within a plane parallel to the incident surface of the light Ra.
[0038]
A hologram element is an element having angle selectivity in which a diffraction wavelength changes depending on an incident angle, and also has chromatic dispersion. Therefore, in a hologram element having diffraction fringes for the light Ra, the angle selectivity is lower when the incident angle is shifted in a direction perpendicular to the incident surface of the light Ra than when the incident angle is shifted in a direction parallel to the incident surface of the light Ra, and Also, the influence of chromatic dispersion is small.

That is, in the fourth embodiment, two LEDs 212-1 and 212-2 are provided as light sources, and other configurations are the same as those in the third embodiment. Therefore, in FIG. 9, parts that are the same as those in FIG. 6 are given the same reference numerals, and descriptions thereof are omitted.
[0057]
Each of the LEDs 212-1 and 212-2 has an LED 212R1 and 212R2 having an emission peak wavelength of 635 nm arranged on the center side of the optical axis P, and an LED 212G1 and 212G2 having an emission peak wavelength of 520 nm and 212B1 and 212B2 having an emission peak wavelength of 465 nm are optical axes. It is arranged on the side away from the center of P. Since a plurality of LEDs are arranged in the x direction, the optical pupil position in the y direction of the same wavelength and each color of RGB can be made to coincide with each other even though it is a small optical pupil.
