Description
【0001】
V1=V0×sinθ°
V2=V0×sinθ'°

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fixing device used in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus such as a printer, a facsimile machine, and a copying machine, and more particularly to a belt fixing device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the image forming apparatus of the above-mentioned type, a fixing device of a heat and pressure fixing method for fixing a toner image transferred onto a recording sheet (paper) is usually used. In this type of heat and pressure fixing process, a recording sheet is passed through a pressure contact portion (nip portion) of a pair of rollers including a fixing roller heated by a heating source such as a heater and a pressure roller rotating in pressure contact with the fixing roller. The toner is melted and fixed onto the recording sheet by the action of heat and pressure (heating by a fixing roller and pressing by two rollers).
[0003]
In general, in such a fixing method, the toner fused to the recording sheet comes into contact with the fixing roller and is at a high temperature and high pressure, so that a part of the toner forming the image may be transferred from the recording sheet to the fixing roller. When toner adheres to the fixing roller, in the subsequent fixing process, a so-called offset phenomenon occurs in which the adhered toner is transferred again to a new recording sheet and soils the recording sheet.
[0004]
In order to prevent this offset, as a fixing roller, a roller having a good releasability (non-adhesive; a state in which toner on a recording sheet is difficult to adhere to the roller), for example, a roller whose surface is coated with an elastic body such as a fluorine resin And a roller covered with an elastic body is used as the pressure roller. Further, a method of uniformly applying a release agent (for example, silicone oil, hereinafter simply referred to as “oil”) to the surface of the fixing roller to maintain the release property is also employed. In this case, since a part of the oil is transferred to the recording sheet when the paper is passed, it is necessary to supply the oil to the fixing roller every rotation of the roller.
[0005]
However, if the amount of oil to be replenished is excessive, the oil distribution is uneven and the oil is unevenly distributed at a specific position, or when the fixing roller is rotated without passing paper, the oil on the roller surface will eventually be Becomes saturated, and excess excess oil accumulates in the nip. The excess oil that has accumulated accumulates oil stains or oil streaks and causes the recording sheet to become dirty when the paper is passed.
[0006]
As a countermeasure against such excess oil, a technique for controlling oil on the surface of the fixing roller has been proposed.
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-4-16115 [Patent Document 2]
In the known oil control disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 5-265345, the blade is brought into contact with the fixing roller, thereby recovering excess oil from the surface of the fixing roller and making the amount of oil on the roller surface uniform. The oil is regulated (equalized) with a blade.
[0007]
FIG. 4 shows an example of a fixing device using a conventional oil control method. The oil application roller 1103 applies oil to the outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller 1101, and the
[0008]
However, in such a conventional technique, the surface of the fixing roller 1101 is worn by contact with the
[0009]
As countermeasures against the above-mentioned problems, it is known to perform oil leveling with a roller instead of a blade in order to eliminate the problem with the blade and the complexity of the configuration. Therefore, it was impossible to completely equalize the oil only by rotating the fixing roller once. For this reason, the actual condition is that it is inferior to the blade method when compared only with the oil leveling performance.
[0010]
In addition, when oil is consumed partially after passing small-size paper and the application state of oil is extremely uneven, the fixing roller is idled for a certain period of time, and it takes time to level the oil. It was necessary.
[0011]
Further, the following techniques have been proposed to prevent coating unevenness.
[Patent Document 3]
The content of this is to provide a leveling roller inclined at a predetermined angle on the oil application roller. However, if the roller pairs are arranged in a twisted positional relationship, the nip amount and pressure distribution will be non-uniform at the end and center, and in reality, the oil should be applied uniformly, contrary to the assertion of the effect. I can't.
[0012]
Similar problems can be pointed out with respect to the oil application method and the cleaning method using a roller. In the oil application method using a roller, the effect of blocking the oil cannot be obtained, so that even if the oil distribution on the oil application roller is slightly uneven, application unevenness is likely to occur when oil is applied to the fixing roller. In the case where the leveling means as described above is not employed, means for supplying oil to the oil application roller via the supply roller is employed, which complicates the configuration. In the cleaning method using a roller, cleaning is performed by causing the cleaning roller to abut the rotation of the fixing roller so that the toner remaining offset from the difference in releasability is transferred from the surface of the fixing roller to the cleaning roller. However, since the scraping effect cannot be obtained, it was insufficient for cleaning the residue such as paper dust with less adhesiveness.
[0013]
On the other hand, in the heat and pressure fixing method using a pair of rollers, since the heat capacity of the heat fixing roller is large, it takes time to heat the heat fixing roller to a predetermined temperature required for fixing, and waiting for the apparatus to warm up. The time is long. Further, a large amount of power consumption is required to maintain the temperature of the heat fixing roller, and the power consumption of the entire apparatus is greatly increased. Therefore, in order to solve such a problem, a belt heating fixing system for fixing the toner on the recording sheet on the belt surface has been developed. In the belt heating and fixing system, the heat energy necessary for fixing can be obtained simply by heating a fixing belt having a relatively small heat capacity to a predetermined temperature, so that the standby time can be shortened and the power consumption can be reduced.
[0014]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Therefore, in view of the above-described conventional problems, it is an object of the present invention to improve the performance of each method of oil application, oil leveling, and cleaning using a roller that can be simply configured.
[0015]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to the present invention, according to the present invention, with respect to oil application, an endless belt stretched between the first and second rotating bodies, a heat source for heating the endless belt, and one of the rotating bodies via the endless belt are provided. It comprises a third rotating body that rolls in contact with a predetermined pressure and an oil application roller that contacts the endless belt, and carries an unfixed image on the endless belt side with respect to the nip portion between the endless belt and the third rotating body. In the belt fixing device that fixes the unfixed image on the recording sheet by heating and pressing by conveying the recording sheet with the surface facing the surface, the oil application roller is brought into contact with the endless belt on the flat area of the belt. This can be achieved by arranging the oil application roller to be inclined without being orthogonal to the belt moving direction.
[0016]
As for the leveling of the applied oil, the endless belt stretched between the first and second rotating bodies, the heat source for heating the endless belt, and the one of the rotating bodies are rolled into contact with each other through the endless belt at a predetermined pressure. A nip portion between the endless belt and the third rotating body, comprising a third rotating body, means for applying oil to the endless belt, and an oil leveling roller that contacts the endless belt and smoothes the applied oil. In the belt fixing device for fixing the unfixed image on the recording sheet by heating and pressing by conveying the recording sheet with the surface carrying the unfixed image to the endless belt side, the oil leveling roller The contact with the endless belt is made on the flat area of the belt, and the oil leveling roller is arranged so as not to be orthogonal to the belt moving direction. It can be achieved to.
[0017]
With regard to cleaning, an endless belt stretched between the first and second rotating bodies, a heat source for heating the endless belt, and a third rotation that is brought into rolling contact with one of the rotating bodies through the endless belt at a predetermined pressure. And a cleaning roller that contacts the endless belt and removes residual toner on the belt, and carries an unfixed image on the endless belt side with respect to the nip portion between the endless belt and the third rotating body. In a belt fixing device that fixes a non-fixed image on a recording sheet by heating and pressing by conveying the recording sheet toward the surface, the cleaning roller is brought into contact with the endless belt on the flat area of the belt. The above-described object can be achieved by arranging the cleaning roller to be inclined without being orthogonal to the moving direction.

【The invention's effect】
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the contact of the oil application roller with the endless belt is made on the flat area of the belt, and the oil application roller is disposed so as not to be orthogonal to the belt moving direction. As a result of the difference in the vector direction at the tangent line, slip occurs, and the oil is dammed up at the contact nip portion. As a result, problems caused by uneven oil application, such as oil streaks in the rotation direction of the application roller, which has been a problem with conventional application rollers, can be solved.
[0035]
According to the second aspect of the invention, the oil leveling roller abuts against the endless belt on the flat area of the belt, and the oil leveling roller is arranged so as not to be orthogonal to the belt moving direction. A slip occurs due to a difference in the vector direction at the tangent line of both members. The remaining oil on the belt is dammed up at the contact nip, and the residual oil “scraping effect” and “stretching effect” are the same as the contact blade. Will be played. As a result, problems caused by oil streaks and oil application unevenness in the direction of rotation of the leveling roller, which has been a problem with conventional leveling rollers, can be solved.

According to the third aspect of the present invention, the cleaning roller is brought into contact with the endless belt on the flat area of the belt, and the cleaning roller is arranged so as not to be orthogonal to the belt moving direction. As a result, a slip occurs due to the difference in the vector direction at S, and the offset toner, paper dust, etc. on the belt are scraped off at the contact nip portion. The cleaning performance is improved as compared with the conventional method of removing the residue on the belt due to the difference in releasability between the belt and the cleaning roller by the cleaning roller.
