Description

【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a thermal transfer material formed by combining a thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet, which can form a high-resolution image using laser light. In particular, the present invention relates to a thermal transfer material capable of producing a color proof (DDCP: direct digital color proof) in the printing field with high image quality and more stably by laser recording from a digital image signal.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the graphic arts field, a set of color separation films is made from a color manuscript with a lith film, and the printing plate is printed using the film. However, before the actual printing (actual printing work), color separation is performed. A color proof is created from a film, and an error check in the color separation process, a necessity for color correction, and the like are generally performed. As the material for the color proof, it is preferable to use printing paper because of its closeness to the actual printed matter, and it is preferable to use a pigment as the coloring material. In addition, realization of high resolution that enables high reproducibility of halftone images and high process stability are also desired. Further, there is a high demand for a dry proof production method that does not use a developer.
[0003]
Also, with the recent popularization of computerized systems in the pre-printing process (pre-press field), there has been an increasing demand for materials and recording systems for producing color proofs directly from digital signals. In such an electronic system, it is necessary to create a color proof with particularly high image quality, and it is generally necessary to reproduce a dot image of 150 lines / inch or more. In order to record a high quality proof from a digital signal, it is necessary to use a laser beam that can be modulated by the digital signal and can narrow down the recording light as a recording head. For this reason, it is necessary to develop a recording material that exhibits high recording sensitivity with respect to laser light and exhibits high resolving power capable of reproducing high-definition halftone dots.
[0004]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-219052 discloses a photothermal conversion layer containing a photothermal conversion substance, a very thin layer (0.03 to 0.3 μm) of a thermal release layer, a pigment and a thermoplastic resin. A forming layer (heat-sensitive transfer layer) is provided in this order, and the bonding force between the image-forming layer and the photothermal conversion layer bonded by the heat-sensitive release layer is reduced by laser light irradiation. An image forming method is described in which a heat-sensitive transfer sheet is used to form a high-definition image on an image-receiving sheet laminated on the heat-sensitive transfer sheet. The image forming system used in this image forming method is a system utilizing so-called “ablation”, and specifically, because the thermal release layer is partially decomposed and vaporized in the region irradiated with the laser beam, The bonding force between the image forming layer and the light-to-heat conversion layer in that area is weakened, and the image forming layer in that area is laminated on the heat-sensitive transfer sheet by the subsequent separation (separation) of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet from the image-receiving sheet. The phenomenon of being transferred onto the arranged image receiving sheet is utilized. Thus, a photothermal conversion layer (preferably further a thermal release layer) for converting laser light into heat and a thermal transfer layer composed of a pigment and a thermoplastic resin are provided in this order on the support. An image forming method using a thermal transfer material in which a thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet are combined is particularly advantageous for producing a color proof.
[0005]
In the image forming method using the thermal transfer material, as described in the above publication, an image receiving sheet provided with a two-layer image receiving layer on a support is advantageously used as the image receiving sheet material. . This is because when the image obtained on the image receiving sheet is transferred again to the printing paper, the upper layer of the two layers is transferred (retransferred) to the printing paper together with the transfer image, and the lower layer on the support side remains on the image receiving sheet. This is because a color proof approximated to a printed matter can be obtained. Examples of the image-receiving sheet material include a first image-receiving layer (cushion layer) having a thickness of generally 5 to 30 μm and 0.5 mm on a support as described in, for example, JP-A No. 61-189535. The thing of the aspect which has the layer which consists of the organic polymer substance in which it laminated | stacked in order of the 2nd image receiving layer (image receiving layer which can peel a thin film) with a film thickness of -5 micrometers is used. Examples of organic polymer materials that can be used in the first image-receiving layer include polyolefin (eg, polyethylene), ethylene copolymer (eg, ethylene and vinyl acetate copolymer), polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride copolymer ( Example, vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate copolymer), polyvinylidene chloride, vinylidene chloride copolymer, polystyrene, styrene copolymer, vinyl toluene copolymer, (meth) acrylic acid ester homopolymer and its copolymer And those having a softening point (by Vicat method) of 80 ° C. or less, such as polyamide resin, synthetic rubber and chlorinated rubber. Examples of the organic polymer material that can be used in the second image receiving layer include vinyl acetate copolymers, butyral resins, gelatin, modified polyvinyl alcohol, and cellulose derivatives in addition to the above polymer materials.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The present inventor has studied a laser recording image forming method using a thermal transfer material used in combination in a state in which the above-described thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet having a two-layer image receiving layer are laminated. As a result, it is possible to create a color proof with high printed matter approximation by using a conventional thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet. However, after laser recording, the thermal transfer sheet is peeled and developed from the image receiving sheet in a laminated state. In addition, when the thermal transfer sheet is peeled off, peeling occurs between the first image receiving layer and the second image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet corresponding to the recording region, and in the worst case, the first image receiving layer may peel from the entire edge to the edge. It has been found that the stability of the transfer operation is still not sufficient. Further, when the transfer image once peeled and developed and transferred onto the image receiving sheet together with the first image receiving layer is retransferred to the printing paper, the first image receiving layer is not peeled off smoothly from the second image receiving layer and is forcibly removed. Also, the stability during the retransfer operation such as peeling of the fiber surface of the paper was not sufficient.
[0007]
An object of the present invention is to provide a thermal transfer material that can be used in combination in a state in which a thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet are laminated so that a stable transfer operation is possible and a high-quality transfer image having high printed matter approximation can be obtained. Is to provide.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present inventor has studied the transferability in image formation as described above, focusing on the peel strength between layers when a thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet are combined (laminated and arranged) to form a thermal transfer material. Proceeded. As a result, the peel strength F1 between the cushion layer and the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet, the peel strength F2 between the thermal transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet in the laser non-irradiated region, and the laser Peel strength F3 between the photothermal conversion layer and the thermal transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet in the irradiated regionF1 ≦ 2 g / cm, F2 <1.2 g / cm, and F3 <1.5 g / cm, respectively, andThe relationship betweenF1-F2> 0.5 g / cmAnd F1-F3> 0.5More specifically, by adjusting to g / cm, a wax or a surfactant is added to the thermal transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet so as to satisfy the above relational expression. As a result, it has been found that a high-quality transfer image can be obtained more stably than in the prior art, and the present invention has been achieved.
In the present specification, the peel strength (g / cm) means a peel strength at 180 degrees, and specifically means a value measured using the apparatus shown in FIG. 7 of the attached drawings. To do.

[0011]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The thermal transfer material of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
The thermal transfer material of the present invention is a combination of a thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet in a laminated state. Normally, a thermal transfer sheet and an image receiving sheet are prepared and used as a thermal transfer material so that they are in close contact with each other at the time of image formation. It can also be used as an integrated thermal transfer material (thermal transfer composite material) in close contact with each other.
[0012]
FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 are diagrams schematically showing a cross section when the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving sheet are prepared as described above, and these are laminated to constitute the thermal transfer material of the present invention. In FIG. 1, a thermal transfer sheet 10 has a configuration in which a photothermal conversion layer 12 and a thermal transfer layer 14 are laminated in this order on a support 11 (hereinafter referred to as a first type). The image receiving sheet 20 has a structure in which a cushion layer 22 and an image receiving layer 23 are laminated on a support 21 in this order. The heat-sensitive transfer layer 14 of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet 10 and the image-receiving layer 23 of the image-receiving sheet 20 are laminated in a state of surface contact. FIG. 2 shows a case where the thermal transfer material of the present invention is configured using a thermal transfer sheet (hereinafter referred to as a second type) having an embodiment in which the photothermal conversion layer includes a thermal release layer 13 provided on the upper surface thereof. An example of
[0013]
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view schematically showing a state in which the thermal transfer sheet is peeled off from the image receiving sheet after being irradiated with the laser beam L from the back surface of the second type thermal transfer sheet.
By irradiating the laser beam L from the back surface of the thermal transfer sheet, the thermal release layer contained in the photothermal conversion layer is partially decomposed and vaporized in the region irradiated with the laser, so that the photothermal conversion layer and the thermal transfer layer in that region are vaporized. The bonding force between the two is weakened. For this reason, after laser irradiation, the bonding force between the thermal transfer layer and the photothermal conversion layer in the laser irradiation region is weaker than the bonding force between the thermal transfer layer and the photothermal conversion layer in the laser non-irradiation region.
After the laser irradiation, the thermal transfer sheet is peeled off from the image receiving sheet and separated. As shown in FIG. 3, the thermal transfer layer in the region irradiated with the laser is transferred to the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet, and the transferred image (shown as A) ) Is formed. As described above, after the laser irradiation, the transfer image (A) is favorably formed without peeling between the image receiving layer and the cushion layer of the image receiving sheet due to separation (separation) of the thermal transfer sheet. The transfer image (A) of the laser-irradiated area remains on the image receiving layer, while the remaining thermal transfer layer (the thermal transfer layer in the laser non-irradiated area) is separated from the thermal transfer sheet. Accordingly, it is necessary to be separated from the image receiving layer.
Therefore, in relation to the peel strength between each layer,
1) The peel strength between the cushion layer and the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet is F1, and
2) F2 represents the peel strength between the heat-sensitive transfer layer of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet and the image-receiving layer of the image-receiving sheet in the laser non-irradiated region.
If
In general, a relationship of F1> F2 is satisfied between F1 and F2.
[0014]
3) When the peel strength between the light-to-heat conversion layer and the heat-sensitive transfer layer of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet in the laser-irradiated region is F3,
In general, the relationship of F1> F3 is satisfied between F1 and F3 for the same reason as the relationship of F1> F2.
In addition to the above relationship between F1, F2 and F3, since the thermal transfer layer in the recording area after laser irradiation (recording) is generally required to be transferred to the image receiving sheet, the following relationship is established. I'm. That is, the peel strength between the photothermal conversion layer and the thermal transfer layer in the laser non-irradiated region is larger than F3, and the peel strength between the thermal transfer layer and the image receiving layer in the recording region after laser irradiation (recording) is , Larger than F1, F2, and F3, respectively.
[0015]
When the relationship of F1> F2 and F1> F3 is satisfied as described above, an image formed by laser recording is separated on the image receiving sheet by peeling (separation) of the thermal transfer sheet after laser irradiation from the image receiving sheet. Although it is possible to transfer, according to the study of the present inventor, the stability of the transfer operation is still not sufficient. Therefore, in the present invention, F1-F3> 0.5It became clear that it was necessary to adjust so that it might become a relationship of g / cm (preferably F1-F3> 0.8g / cm).
In the present invention, the above F1-F3> 0.5In addition to the relationship of g / cm, F1-F2> 0.5g / cm (more preferablyIsIt has also become clear that it is preferable to adjust so that the relationship of F1-F2> 1.0 g / cm).
In addition to the relationship between F1, F2, and F3 described above, also in the present invention, the peel strength between the photothermal conversion layer and the thermal transfer layer in the laser non-irradiated region is greater than F3, and after laser irradiation (recording). It goes without saying that the peel strength between the heat-sensitive transfer layer and the image receiving layer in the recording area is larger than F1, F2, and F3, respectively.

Further, in the thermal transfer material of the present invention, it is preferable that F1, F2 and F3 are adjusted so as to have the following values, respectively. That is, F1 ≦ 2 g / cm, F2 <1.2 g / cm (more preferably F2 <0.5 g / cm), and F3 <1.5It is preferable that it is g / cm.
[0017]
The thermal transfer material of the present invention is adjusted so that the relationship between F1, F2 and F3 is a specific relationship as described above. Specifically, the relationship between the peel strengths of these layers is As will be described later, it is adjusted by adding a wax and a surfactant to the thermal transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet.
[0018]
Next, the image forming method of the present invention will be described.
Since the thermal transfer material of the present invention is advantageous for producing a proof, a method for producing a proof will be described below.
As shown in FIG. 4, a thermal transfer sheet 10 and an image receiving sheet 20 are prepared, the thermal transfer sheet 10 is placed on the image receiving sheet 20, the thermal transfer layer 14 of the thermal transfer sheet 10, and the image receiving layer 23 of the image receiving sheet 20. Are laminated so that they are in surface contact. First, the laser beam L is irradiated from the back surface (support side) of the thermal transfer sheet 10. The thermal release layer 14 irradiated with the laser beam L is decomposed by heat as described above, and is formed between the thermal transfer layer (laser recording unit) A and the photothermal conversion layer 12 in the laser irradiation (recording) region. The bonding force is weaker than the bonding force between the thermal transfer layer (laser non-recording portion) B and the photothermal conversion layer 12 in the laser non-irradiated region. Next, the thermal transfer sheet 10 is peeled from the image receiving sheet 20. In this case, in the present invention, the peel strength between the layers of the configured thermal transfer material 1 is as described above.F1-F2> 0.5 g / cm,And F1-F3> 0.5Since the image receiving layer 23 is adjusted by the relationship of g / cm, the thermal transfer layer A in the laser irradiated region is excellent in the image receiving layer 23 without peeling off from the cushion layer 22 regardless of the laser irradiated or unirradiated region. Transcribed.
[0019]
Next, the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet on which the heat-sensitive transfer layer A is formed is transferred (retransferred) to a separately prepared printing paper (hereinafter simply referred to as “paper”).
FIG. 5 shows that the image receiving sheet 20 having the thermal transfer layer A formed thereon is superposed on the main paper 30 with the thermal transfer layer A facing down, and the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet is left on the main paper, and the support and cushion layer. The state which peels is shown. As shown in the figure, the image receiving layer 23 of the image receiving sheet 20 is preferably formed so as to be peelable from the cushion layer 22 without damaging the thermal transfer layer A. Then, when the image receiving sheet is peeled off, in order for the transfer operation of only the image receiving layer 23 to be smoothly performed without causing the paper 30 to peel off, the peel strength F1 between the image receiving layer 23 and the cushion layer 22 is In the case of ordinary printing paper, it is preferable to have a relationship of F1 ≦ 2 g / cm.
Through the above process, a monochrome proof for plate inspection can be created.
[0020]
A color proof composed of a multicolor image can also be formed using the thermal transfer material of the present invention.
When forming a color proof consisting of multicolor images, as shown in FIG. 6, the first color eye prepared separately is formed on the image receiving sheet 20 on which the transfer image A of the first color created as described above is formed. The heat-sensitive transfer sheet 10 ′ having a hue different from the above hue is laminated so that the heat-sensitive transfer layer 14 ′ and the image receiving layer 23 are in surface contact. Next, in the same manner as described above, the laser light L is irradiated from the back surface of the thermal transfer sheet 10 ′, and then the thermal transfer sheet 10 ′ is peeled from the image receiving sheet 20, thereby transferring the first color transfer image A of the image receiving sheet 20. A second color transfer image A ′ is formed thereon.
By repeating this procedure for four normal thermal transfer sheets (usually four colors of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow) prepared for each hue, a multicolor image (four colors) is formed on the image receiving sheet 20. A full color image by overlapping) can be formed. In each thermal transfer material in a state where the thermal transfer sheet of each hue is laminated on the image receiving sheet, as described above,F1-F2> 0.5 g / cm,And F1-F3> 0.5Since the peel strength between the layers is adjusted in a relationship of g / cm, the image receiving layer 23 does not peel from the cushion layer 22 even when the heat-sensitive transfer sheet of each hue after laser recording is peeled from the image receiving sheet. The heat-sensitive transfer layer A (transfer image), A ′,... In the laser irradiation region is transferred to the image receiving layer 23 in order.
[0021]
Next, the multicolor transfer image obtained on the image receiving sheet is transferred to printing paper.
Transfer (retransfer) of the image receiving sheet on which the multicolor transfer image has been formed to the printing main paper, and peeling of the image receiving sheet from the main paper can be performed in the same manner as in the production of the monochrome proof. When the image receiving sheet is peeled off, in order to perform the transfer operation of only the image receiving layer without causing the paper to peel off, the peel strength between the image receiving layer 23 and the cushion layer 22 is the same as described above. The thickness F1 preferably has a relationship of F1 ≦ 2 g / cm.
As described above, a color proof composed of multicolor images can be created.
[0022]
In the above image formation, the laser light irradiation operation can be performed by a method similar to the conventional method. That is, the image receiving sheet is brought into close contact with the surface of a recording drum (a rotating drum having a vacuum forming mechanism inside and a large number of minute openings on the surface) by vacuum drawing, and in this state, the image receiving sheet is sensed on the image receiving sheet. The thermal transfer sheet is superposed so that the film surfaces are in close contact with each other, and then laser light is irradiated from the thermal transfer sheet side. The laser beam is irradiated by rotating the drum for main scanning, and during the irradiation operation, the laser beam is moved (sub-scanned) at a constant speed with respect to the drum.
[0023]
As laser light, direct laser light such as argon laser light, helium neon laser light, gas laser light such as helium cadmium laser light, solid laser light such as YAG laser light, semiconductor laser, dye laser light, and excimer laser light. Is used. Or the light etc. which converted these laser lights into the half wavelength through the 2nd harmonic element can also be used. In the present invention, it is preferable to use a semiconductor laser in consideration of output power and ease of modulation.
In carrying out the image forming method, the laser beam is preferably irradiated under conditions such that the beam diameter on the photothermal conversion layer is in the range of 5 to 50 μm (especially 6 to 30 μm), and the scanning speed is It is preferably 1 m / second or more (particularly 3 m / second or more).
[0024]
Next, the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving sheet constituting the thermal transfer material of the present invention will be described.
The thermal transfer material of the present invention is adjusted so that the peel strength between each layer of the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving sheet satisfies the specific relational expression as described above so that the image formation can be performed smoothly. Specifically, in the thermal transfer sheet, adjustment of such a relational expression differs depending on the type of pigment that is a constituent element of the thermal transfer layer, but adjustment of the amount of surfactant used and adjustment to the thermal transfer layer. It is carried out by adding a wax, and in the image receiving sheet, it is carried out by adjusting the kind of the high molecular polymer constituting the image receiving layer and the amount of use thereof.
[0025]
Next, materials constituting the thermal transfer sheet used in the present invention will be described.
There is no particular limitation on the material for the support of the thermal transfer sheet, and various support materials can be used according to the purpose. Preferred examples of such a support material include a synthetic resin material such as polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polystyrene, and styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer. Can be mentioned. Among these, biaxially stretched polyethylene terephthalate is preferable in consideration of mechanical strength and dimensional stability against heat. When the image forming method of the present invention is used for producing a color proof, since the image receiving sheet support is generally an opaque sheet material such as printing paper, the support of the thermal transfer sheet is transparent to transmit laser light. It is preferable to form from a synthetic resin material.
[0026]
In order to improve the adhesion to the light-to-heat conversion layer provided on the support of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet, it is preferable to perform a surface activation treatment and / or to attach one or more undercoat layers. . Examples of the surface activation treatment include glow discharge treatment and corona discharge treatment. As a material for the undercoat layer, it is preferable that both surfaces of the support and the light-to-heat conversion layer exhibit high adhesion, have low thermal conductivity, and have excellent heat resistance. Examples of the material for the undercoat layer include styrene, styrene-butadiene copolymer, gelatin and the like. The thickness of the undercoat layer is usually selected so as to fall within the range of 0.01 to 2 μm as the thickness of the entire undercoat layer. Further, on the surface of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet on the side opposite to the side on which the light-to-heat conversion layer is provided, various functional layers such as an antireflection layer can be attached or surface-treated as necessary.
[0027]
The light-to-heat conversion layer of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet generally has a basic structure composed of a light-absorbing material (dye, pigment, etc.) capable of absorbing laser light and a binder. That is, if only the laser light absorption characteristics are to be obtained, there is no problem even if the photothermal conversion layer is composed only of a dye, but the thermal transfer sheet is bonded to the image receiving sheet or peeled off from the image receiving sheet in the image forming method. In order to maintain sufficient self-shape retention and adhesion to the support and the photothermal conversion layer even in such a process, a binder is usually used in combination. However, a binder is not required in the photothermal conversion layer using a metal vapor deposition film as described later.
Examples of usable dyes and pigments include black pigments such as carbon black, macrocyclic compound pigments having absorption in the visible to near infrared region such as phthalocyanine and naphthalocyanine, and lasers for high-density laser recording such as optical disks. Examples thereof include organic dyes (cyanine dyes such as indolenine dyes, anthraquinone dyes, azulene dyes, and phthalocyanine dyes) and organometallic compound dyes such as dithiol nickel complexes used as absorbing materials. In order to increase the recording sensitivity, the photothermal conversion layer is preferably as thin as possible. Therefore, it is desirable to use a cyanine dye or phthalocyanine dye exhibiting a large extinction coefficient in the laser light wavelength region.
An inorganic material such as a metal material can also be used as the laser light absorbing material of the photothermal conversion layer. The metal material may be formed in a particulate form (for example, blackened silver) with a binder, or may be formed on a support as a vapor deposition film or the like. Alternatively, by heating an organometallic compound such as silver behenate in a solution or as a film in the presence of a reducing agent, metal fine particles can be deposited in-situ to form a photothermal conversion layer.
[0028]
The material for the binder of the photothermal conversion layer is not particularly limited. For example, homopolymers or copolymers of acrylic monomers such as acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylic ester, and methacrylic ester, methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, cellulose Cellulose polymers such as acetate, polystyrene, vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinyl butyral, vinyl polymers such as polyvinyl alcohol and vinyl compound copolymers, condensation polymers such as polyester and polyamide And a rubber-based thermoplastic polymer such as a butadiene-styrene copolymer, a polymer obtained by polymerizing / crosslinking a photopolymerizable or thermopolymerizable compound such as an epoxy compound, and the like.
As the binder material other than the above, polyamic acid can also be preferably used.
[0029]
Note that the light-to-heat conversion layer of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet rises to a very high temperature when irradiated with a laser in the execution of the image forming method. Then, the photothermal conversion layer that has reached a high temperature transfers heat to the heat-sensitive release layer (a layer that includes a heat-sensitive material that generates gas by the action of heat generated in the photothermal conversion layer). It decomposes by the heat to generate gas, or discharges adhering water and the like, thereby weakening the bonding strength between the photothermal conversion layer and the thermal transfer layer. Therefore, when an independent heat-sensitive release layer is provided, it is desirable that the heat resistance of the binder of the photothermal conversion layer is higher than that of the heat-sensitive material of the heat-sensitive release layer. That is, the thermal deformation temperature, thermal decomposition temperature, etc. of the binder of the photothermal conversion layer are preferably higher than the thermal deformation temperature, thermal decomposition temperature, etc. of the thermal material of the thermal release layer.
[0030]
Alternatively, when the light-to-heat conversion layer contains a heat-sensitive material and, as a result, the light-to-heat conversion layer itself also serves as the heat-sensitive release layer, the heat-sensitive material contained in the light-to-heat conversion layer that has reached a high temperature is decomposed by the heat and gas Or the adhering water is discharged, thereby weakening the bonding strength between the photothermal conversion layer and the thermal transfer layer.
When the photothermal conversion layer is composed of a color material (dye or pigment) and a binder, the weight ratio of solids is preferably in the range of 1:20 to 2: 1 (color material: binder), particularly 1:10. It is preferably in the range of ˜2: 1. When the amount of the binder is too small, the cohesive force of the light-to-heat conversion layer is reduced, and when the formed image is transferred to the image receiving sheet, it is easily transferred together, which causes color mixing of the image. Moreover, when there are too many binders, in order to achieve a fixed light absorptance, it is necessary to enlarge the layer thickness of a photothermal conversion layer, and it tends to cause a sensitivity fall.
The layer thickness of the light-to-heat conversion layer composed of the color material and the binder is generally 0.03 to 2 μm, preferably 0.05 to 1 μm, and more preferably 0.1 to 0.8 μm. The photothermal conversion layer preferably exhibits a light absorption rate of 70% or more at the wavelength of the laser beam used for optical recording.
[0031]
In the first type of heat-sensitive transfer sheet, the light-to-heat conversion layer may contain a heat-sensitive material that generates gas by the action of heat generated in the light-to-heat conversion layer. As such a heat-sensitive material, it absorbs or adsorbs a considerable amount of a compound (polymer or low-molecular compound) that generates gas by being decomposed or altered by heat, or easily vaporizable gas such as moisture as a characteristic of the material. And the like (polymers or low molecular weight compounds) can be used. These can be used in combination.
Examples of polymers that generate gas when decomposed or denatured by heat include auto-oxidizing polymers such as nitrocellulose, halogens such as chlorinated polyolefin, chlorinated rubber, polychlorinated rubber, polyvinyl chloride, and polyvinylidene chloride. Containing polymers, acrylic polymers such as polyisobutyl methacrylate on which volatile compounds such as moisture are adsorbed, cellulose esters such as ethyl cellulose on which volatile compounds such as moisture are adsorbed, and volatile compounds such as moisture are adsorbed And natural polymer compounds such as gelatin.
Examples of the low molecular weight compound that decomposes or denatures by heat to generate gas include compounds that generate gas by exothermic decomposition such as diazo compounds and azide compounds.
In addition, it is preferable that decomposition | disassembly, a quality change, etc. by the heat sensitive material as mentioned above generate | occur | produce at 280 degrees C or less, and generate | occur | produce especially at 230 degrees C or less especially.
[0032]
The light-to-heat conversion layer of the second type heat-sensitive transfer sheet includes a heat-sensitive release layer containing a heat-sensitive material that generates gas by the action of heat generated in the light-to-heat conversion layer. They can also be used in combination. In addition, the example of the heat-sensitive material which generate | occur | produces gas by the effect | action of the heat generate | occur | produced in the photothermal conversion layer introduce | transduced into a heat-sensitive peeling layer is the same as that of what was mentioned by said description.
In addition, when using a low molecular weight compound as a heat sensitive material in a heat sensitive peeling layer, combining with a binder is desirable. In this case, the binder may be a polymer that itself decomposes or denatures by heat to generate gas, or may be a normal polymer binder that does not have such properties. When a thermosensitive low molecular weight compound and a binder are used in combination, the weight ratio of the former and the latter may be in the range of 0.02: 1 to 3: 1, particularly 0.05: 1 to 2: 1. preferable.
The heat-sensitive release layer desirably covers the photothermal conversion layer over almost the entire surface, and the thickness thereof is generally in the range of 0.03 to 1 μm, particularly 0.05 to 0.5 μm.
[0033]
In the case of a thermal transfer sheet (second type) in which a photothermal conversion layer (including a thermal release layer) and a thermal transfer layer are laminated in this order on a support, the thermal release layer is: Decomposes and alters due to heat transmitted from the photothermal conversion layer, generating gas. Then, due to this decomposition or gas generation, the heat-sensitive release layer partially disappears or cohesive failure occurs in the heat-sensitive release layer, and the bonding force between the photothermal conversion layer and the heat-sensitive transfer layer is reduced. For this reason, depending on the behavior of the heat-sensitive release layer, a part of the heat-sensitive release layer adheres to the heat-sensitive transfer layer and appears on the surface of the finally formed image, which may cause color mixing of the image. Therefore, even if such transfer of the heat-sensitive release layer occurs, the heat-sensitive release layer has a small coloration (that is, high transparency to visible light so that no color mixture appears visually in the formed image). Is desirable). Specifically, the heat-sensitive release layer has a light absorption rate of 50% or less, preferably 10% or less, with respect to visible light.
[0034]
In the thermal transfer sheet used in the present invention, in the case of the second type, a thermal transfer layer is provided on the photothermal conversion layer via a thermal release layer. Alternatively, in the case of the first type, a thermal transfer layer is provided directly on the photothermal conversion layer.
The first type and the second type thermal transfer layer are layers mainly composed of a pigment for visualizing a recorded image and a thermoplastic binder.
In general, pigments are roughly classified into organic pigments and inorganic pigments. The former is particularly excellent in transparency of the coating film, and the latter is generally excellent in hiding properties. When the heat-sensitive transfer sheet of the present invention is used for proofreading printing colors, organic pigments that match or are close in color tone to yellow, magenta, cyan, and black generally used for printing inks are preferably used. In addition, metal powder, fluorescent pigments and the like may be used.
Examples of pigments that can be suitably used include azo pigments, phthalocyanine pigments, anthriquinone pigments, dioxazine pigments, quinacridone pigments, isoindolinone pigments, and nitro pigments. Moreover, it will be as follows if a typical pigment is divided and described according to hue.

4) Black pigment
Carbon black.
[0036]
Examples of the thermoplastic binder of the thermal transfer layer include the following thermoplastic polymers. Cellulose derivatives such as methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, cellulose triacetate, homopolymers or copolymers of acrylic monomers such as acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylic ester, methacrylic ester, polyvinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, polyvinyl butyral , Vinyl polymers such as polyvinyl formal, styrene polymers such as polystyrene and styrene-maleic acid copolymers, rubber polymers such as polybutadiene and polyisoprene, polyolefins such as polyethylene and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, and copolymers thereof Coalescence, phenolic resin, ionomer resin.
Among the above resins, those having a Tg in the range of 30 to 120 ° C. are preferable, and for example, polyvinyl butyral and acrylic polymers are preferable. The average molecular weight of the thermoplastic polymer is desirably in the range of 5,000 to 100,000.
The weight ratio between the pigment and the thermoplastic resin binder in the thermal transfer layer is preferably in the range of 0.5: 1 to 4: 1.
[0037]
The heat-sensitive transfer layer of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet used in the present invention preferably contains a wax as described above.
The melting point of the wax is preferably in the range of 40 to 160 ° C., and a mineral wax, natural wax, or synthetic wax is usually used.
[0038]
Examples of mineral waxes include petroleum waxes such as paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, ester wax and oxide wax, montan wax, ozokerite, ceresin and the like. Of these, paraffin wax is preferred. Paraffin wax is separated from petroleum, and various types are commercially available depending on its melting point.
Examples of natural waxes include plant waxes such as carnauba wax, tree wax, aulicule wax, and espar wax, and animal waxes such as beeswax, insect wax, shellac wax, and whale wax.
[0039]
Synthetic waxes are generally used as lubricants and are usually composed of higher fatty acid compounds. Examples of such synthetic waxes include:
1) Fatty acid wax
General formula: CHThree (CH2 )n A linear saturated fatty acid represented by COOH (wherein n is an integer of 6 to 28). Examples, stearic acid, behenic acid, palmitic acid, 12-hydroxystearic acid, azelaic acid.
2) Fatty ester wax
Esters of the above fatty acids: eg, ethyl stearate, lauryl stearate, ethyl behenate, hexyl behenate, behenyl myristate.
3) Fatty acid amide wax
Amides of the above fatty acids: examples, stearic acid amide, lauric acid amide.
4) Aliphatic alcohol wax
General formula: CHThree (CH2 )n A linear saturated aliphatic alcohol represented by OH (wherein n is an integer of 6 to 28). Example, stearyl alcohol.
Among these synthetic waxes, higher fatty acid amides such as stearic acid amide and lauric acid amide and derivatives thereof are particularly suitable.
The waxes can be used alone or in appropriate combination as desired.
The wax is used in the heat-sensitive transfer layer in an amount of 50 parts by weight or less, preferably 3 to 20 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total amount of pigment and binder (thermoplastic resin).
[0040]
The thermal transfer layer of the thermal transfer sheet used in the present invention preferably contains a surfactant.
The surfactant is not particularly limited, and a general surfactant can be used.
Examples of these include anionic surfactants (higher fatty acid salts such as sodium stearate), nonionic surfactants (compounds having an oxyethylene chain such as polyoxyethylene alkyl ether), cationic surfactants ( Tetraalkylammonium salts) and zwitterionic surfactants (those having both acid groups and basic groups in the molecule, such as N, N-dialkylaminoalkylene carboxylates).
In particular, a surfactant having an element such as fluorine or silicone in the lipophilic group is preferable in that it is effective in a small amount.
The silicone-based surfactant has a polymethylsiloxane type structure, and any of anionic, nonionic, and cationic types can be used. In addition, the fluorinated surfactant is mainly a cationic surfactant such as perfluoroalkyl sulfonate. For example, trade names: Megafac F-110, 113, 120, 150, 172, 177, And 183 (Dainippon Ink Chemical Co., Ltd.) are preferable.
The amount of surfactant added depends on the pigment, binder (thermoplastic resin), solvent, and type of surfactant constituting the thermal transfer layer. For example, in the case of a fluorosurfactant, It is 0.03-10 weight part with respect to 100 weight part of total amounts of a pigment and a binder, Preferably, it is 0.1-3 weight part.
[0041]
The heat-sensitive transfer layer of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet of the present invention may further contain a plasticizer. That is, in order to create a multicolor image, in particular, when performing an operation of repeatedly superimposing a large number of image layers (heat-sensitive transfer layers on which images are formed) on the same image-receiving sheet image, the adhesion between the image layers In order to increase the temperature, it is preferable to include a plasticizer in the thermal transfer layer. Examples of such plasticizers include dibutyl phthalate, di-n-octyl phthalate, diphthalate (2-ethylhexyl, dinonyl phthalate, dilauryl phthalate, butyl lauryl phthalate, butyl benzyl phthalate, etc. Acid esters, aliphatic dibasic acid esters such as di (2-ethylhexyl) adipate, di (2-ethylhexyl) sebacate, tricresyl phosphate, phosphate triesters such as tri (2-ethylhexyl) phosphate, Examples include polyol polyesters such as polyethylene glycol esters and epoxy compounds such as epoxy fatty acid esters.
Besides the above general plasticizers, polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate, 1,2,4-butanetriol trimethacrylate, trimethylol ethane triacrylate, pentaerythritol triacrylate, pentaerythritol tetraacrylate, diester Acrylic esters such as pentaerythritol-polyacrylate are also preferably used in combination depending on the type of binder used. Two or more plasticizers may be used in combination.
[0042]
The plasticizer is generally in the thermal transfer layer in a weight ratio of the total amount of pigment and binder to the plasticizer in the range of 100: 1 to 100: 30, preferably 100: 2 to 100: 15. Used.
In addition to the above-described components, a thickener or the like is further added to the heat-sensitive transfer layer as necessary.
[0043]
The layer thickness (dry layer thickness) of the heat-sensitive transfer layer can be changed depending on the purpose, but generally does not exceed 10 μm and is usually adjusted within the range of 0.1 to 2 μm (preferably 0.1 to 1.5 μm). The
[0044]
Next, the image receiving sheet used for the thermal transfer material of the present invention will be described.
The image receiving sheet used in the present invention has a structure in which a cushion layer and an image receiving layer are provided in this order on a support.
The support used for the image receiving sheet is usually a chemically and thermally stable plastic support. Examples of the plastic material include polyester (eg, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate), polyamide, polycarbonate, and polyether. Examples include sulfone, polyimide, polyolefin (eg, polyethylene, polypropylene), polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane, polyvinylidene chloride, polyacrylate, and cellulose acetate.
Among these, polyethylene terephthalate and polypropylene are preferable, and polyethylene terephthalate is particularly preferable from the viewpoint of dimensional stability.
[0045]
The thickness of the plastic support used for the image receiving sheet is preferably in the range of 50 to 250 μm, more preferably in the range of 75 to 150 μm.
In addition, the surface of the support on the side where the cushion layer is provided is a surface such as a corona discharge treatment or a glow discharge treatment for increasing the adhesion, so that it is advantageous to apply the intermediate layer forming coating solution. A treatment may be applied or an undercoat layer may be provided. The undercoat layer is not particularly limited as long as it increases the adhesion between the support and the intermediate layer, but a silane coupling agent is particularly suitable. Furthermore, the support may be subjected to antistatic treatment and mat treatment.
[0046]
The cushion layer and the image receiving layer provided on the support are layers mainly composed of a polymer.
Examples of the polymer constituting the cushion layer include polyolefins such as polyethylene and polypropylene; ethylene copolymers such as ethylene and vinyl acetate or ethylene and acrylate; polyvinyl chloride; chlorides such as vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate. Vinyl copolymer; polyvinylidene chloride; vinylidene chloride copolymer, poly (meth) acrylic acid ester; polyamide resin such as copolymer nylon and N-alkoxymethylated nylon; synthetic rubber such as acrylic rubber; organic such as chlorinated rubber It is preferable to select at least one from a high molecular weight polymer.
[0047]
Among these, a polymer having a polymerization degree of 200 to 2000 (polyvinyl chloride, a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl alcohol, vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate and maleic acid) Are preferred. The reason is that polyvinyl chloride and vinyl chloride copolymer have almost no adhesiveness at room temperature, have a relatively low elastic modulus, and can easily follow the unevenness of the transferred image during thermal transfer. It is easy to control the interlayer adhesion due to the effect of the hydroxyl group or carboxyl group, and in particular, it is easy to control the elastic modulus with a plasticizer.
[0048]
The thickness of the cushion layer is preferably in the range of 1 μm to 50 μm (more preferably 5 μm to 30 μm). The reason for this is that when transferring the image transferred on the image receiving sheet to the permanent support, it is necessary to make it thicker than the irregularities on the surface of the permanent support, and the relief step in the area where the four color images overlap is sufficient. In order to obtain sufficient cushioning properties, it is necessary to have a thickness that can absorb the dust, to prevent image defects caused by dust even if dust adheres during image formation (to absorb dust). Can be mentioned that such a thickness is required.
[0049]
The cushion layer is 200kg · f / cm2 It is preferably formed with the following elastic modulus. By reducing the elastic modulus, cushioning is generated in the image receiving layer, and recording sensitivity, dot quality, and gradation reproducibility are improved. Further, when foreign matter such as dust is present between the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving sheet at the time of thermal transfer recording, there is an advantage that an image defect is hardly caused due to the cushioning property of the intermediate layer. In addition, when the image transferred to the image receiving sheet is retransferred onto a printing paper such as paper under heating and pressure, the intermediate layer is embedded according to the unevenness of the paper, so that high adhesion to the paper is obtained. Even after the image-receiving layer is peeled off, the surface gloss becomes an image similar to a printed matter without special treatment such as matting.
[0050]
A plasticizer can be added to the organic polymer. Examples of the plasticizer include phthalates (eg, dibutyl phthalate, di-n-octyl phthalate, butyl benzyl phthalate), aliphatic dibasic acid esters (eg, di (2-ethylhexyl) adipate), Sebacic acid di (2-ethylhexyl)), phosphoric acid triesters (eg, tricresyl phosphate), polyols (eg, polyethylene glycol ester), epoxy compounds (eg, epoxy fatty acid ester), and acrylic acid esters ( Examples thereof include polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate, pentaerythritol triacrylate). In addition, various polymers, adhesion improvers, surfactants, and release agents can be added to the organic high molecular polymer in order to adjust the adhesive force with the support or the second image receiving layer. Further, for the purpose of lowering the elastic modulus, the combined use of a tacky polymer is also very effective.
[0051]
Further, when a vinyl chloride resin is used as the polymer, organic tin such as butyl tin stabilizer or octyl tin stabilizer, which is generally known as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride and vinyl chloride copolymer, is used. It is also effective to add a system stabilizer.
[0052]
Next, the image receiving layer will be described.
The purpose of the image receiving layer is that it can accept an image by thermal transfer, and when the image receiving sheet is peeled off at the time of retransfer to the permanent support, the layer is peeled off between the cushion layer and the image receiving layer, and the image on the permanent support is thin. An object is to obtain an image that approximates the gloss of an actual printed matter without leaving a special matting treatment, and to improve the scratch resistance of the image, leaving only the image receiving layer and the irregularities of the permanent support.
[0053]
The image receiving layer is preferably made of a resin material as with the cushion layer. Examples of the resin material that can constitute the image receiving layer include various organic polymer polymers used in the cushion layer, acetal resins such as vinyl acetate copolymers and polyvinyl butyral, and alkyl acrylate / acrylamide copolymers. Polymer, modified polyvinyl alcohol, phenol resin, epoxy resin, urethane resin, polyester resin, urea resin, melamine resin, alkyd resin, maleic acid resin, hydroxystyrene copolymer, sulfonamide resin, cellulose resin, ester gum and rosin Can be mentioned. In particular, the image receiving layer is preferably composed of polyvinyl butyral and an alkyl acrylate / acrylamide copolymer.
[0054]
In these resins, other adhesion improving agents, plasticizers, mold release agents, and surfactants can be added in order to satisfy the relationship of adhesive strength at various interfaces. The coating solvent used for the image receiving layer should be a coating solvent that does not dissolve or swell the resin used for the cushion layer in order to prevent the cushion layer and the image receiving layer from being mixed due to penetration of the coating solvent into the lower layer during coating. Is preferred. For example, when a vinyl chloride resin having relatively good solubility in various solvents is used for the cushion layer, it is preferable to use an alcohol-based or water-based coating solvent.
[0055]
The film thickness of the image receiving layer is preferably in the range of 0.1 μm to 10 μm (more preferably 0.5 μm to 5 μm). If the film thickness is too thick, the unevenness of the surface of the permanent support will be impaired, the gloss will be too high, and the printed matter approximation will tend to decrease.
[0056]
In order to cause delamination between the organic polymer material of the cushion layer and the organic polymer material of the image receiving layer by delamination of the image receiving sheet during transfer to the permanent support, it is important to balance the adhesion between the layers. In order to control the adhesion between layers, in addition to selecting a coating solvent to prevent mixing during multilayer coating, selection of materials such as a combination of hydrophilic polymer and lipophilic polymer or a combination of polar polymer and nonpolar polymer, silane coupling It is effective to add an adhesion improving agent such as an agent, various additives having a fluorine or silicone release effect, and a surfactant to the cushion layer or the image receiving layer.
[0057]
On the image receiving layer, various release agents and lubricant layers can be provided as an overcoat layer for the purpose of improving the slipperiness and scratch resistance of the image receiving layer.
Specifically, higher fatty acids such as palmitic acid and stearic acid, fatty acid metal salts such as zinc stearate, fatty acid esters or partially saponified products thereof, fatty acid derivatives such as fatty acid amides, higher alcohols and polyhydric alcohols Derivatives such as ethers, paraffin wax, carnauba wax, montan wax, beeswax, wood wax, candelilla wax and the like, and cationic surfactants such as ammonium salts having a long chain aliphatic group, pyridinium salts, or Similarly, an anion having a long-chain aliphatic group, a nonionic surfactant, a perfluoro surfactant, and the like can be selected and used.
[0058]
When the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving sheet are combined to produce the thermal transfer material of the present invention, the two sheets are superposed and passed through a heat roller or the like, and subjected to heat and pressure treatment. Pressurization condition is usually 1-30kg / cm2 As for the heating conditions, in the case of a roller, the surface temperature is 250 ° C. or less, preferably 60 to 150 ° C.

[Image formation and evaluation using laser light]
Using the thermal transfer material obtained as described above, an image was formed using a laser beam by the following method, and the obtained transfer image was evaluated. Further, the transferred image on the image receiving sheet was re-transferred to art paper and evaluated in the same manner.
Further, for the obtained thermal transfer material, the peel strength F1 between the image receiving layer and the cushion layer, the peel strength F3 between the image forming layer (thermal transfer layer) in the laser irradiation (recording) region and the photothermal conversion layer, The peel strength F2 between the image forming layer and the image receiving layer in the laser non-irradiated (non-recorded) region was measured by the following methods.
[0089]
(1) Mounting the thermal transfer material to the laser image recording device
The laminate obtained above was allowed to cool for about 10 minutes at room temperature. Next, the laminate is wound around a rotating drum provided with a suction hole for vacuum suction so that the image receiving sheet surface side is in contact with the drum surface, and the inside of the drum is evacuated, whereby the laminate is drummed. Fixed to the surface.
[0090]
(2) Image recording on thermal transfer material
The drum is rotated, and a semiconductor laser beam having a wavelength of 830 nm is focused on the surface of the thermal transfer material on the drum from the outside so as to form a spot having a diameter of 7 μm on the surface of the photothermal conversion layer. A laser image (image line) was recorded on the thermal transfer material while moving in a direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction (sub scanning). The laser irradiation conditions are as follows.
Laser power (on the image forming layer): 110 mW
Rotation (main scanning direction) speed: Linear speed 8m / sec
Sub-scanning pitch (sub-scanning amount per rotation): 5 μm
Recorded image: The semiconductor laser is modulated by the image signal from the workstation (175 lines / inch of screen lines, halftone dot of 50% area ratio).
[0091]
(3) Evaluation of transferred image
The thermal transfer material on which the above laser image recording was performed was removed from the drum, and the image receiving sheet and the thermal transfer sheet were peeled off by hand. Then, during this peeling operation, it was examined whether or not peeling of the image receiving layer corresponding to the recording area and the non-recording area (peeling between the image receiving layer and the cushion layer) occurred. This test was repeated 10 times, and it was examined and evaluated how many times peeling occurred.
In all samples, when the image receiving layer corresponding to the recording area and the non-recording area was transferred well without peeling, the laser irradiation area of the image (image line) forming layer (thermal transfer layer) Only the image was transferred and recorded on the image receiving layer side of the image receiving sheet, and the dot area ratio of the transferred image was almost 50%.
[0092]
(4) Evaluation of retransfer image
Laminator (heat roller temperature 130 ° C., pressure 4.5 kgf / cm) with the image-receiving sheet on which the transfer image is formed as described above being in contact with the image-receiving layer and art paper (Kiku size 65).2 , Speed 450 cm / min). When the temperature returned to room temperature, the image receiving sheet was separated from the art paper. Then, during this pulling operation, it was examined whether or not paper peeling occurred on the art paper corresponding to the peeling of the image receiving sheet. This test was repeated 10 times, and how many times the paper peeling occurred was examined and evaluated.
If the image-receiving sheet can be peeled off from the art paper without causing paper peeling, the image-receiving layer is transferred to the art paper together with the transfer image (only the cushion layer remains on the support of the image-receiving sheet) In addition, the transfer image was well formed in both of the image receiving layers.
[0093]
(5) Measurement of peel strength F1 between the cushion layer and the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet
A thermal transfer material (size: width 4.5 cm × length 15 cm) was prepared, and peeling was performed while measuring the peeling strength with the apparatus shown in FIG.
Peeling condition: The support of the image receiving sheet is fixed on a flat table, the space between the cushion layer and the image receiving layer is peeled off from the end, and the image receiving layer and the heat-sensitive transfer sheet are pulled together to be a constant speed (150 cm / min) Peeled off. When pulling, the ends of the image receiving layer and the thermal transfer sheet were connected to a force gauge sensor (type DFG-2K, manufactured by Simpo Co., Ltd.), and the force required for peeling was measured. In the measurement, a data signal was taken every 0.01 seconds and expressed as an average value for 1 second.
Peel angle: 180 degrees
Measurement environment: 25 ° C, 50% RH
[0094]
(6) Measurement of peel strength F3 between the thermal transfer layer and the photothermal conversion layer in the laser irradiation (recording) region
Laser recording was performed in the same manner as the above recording method except that a thermal transfer material (size: width 4.5 cm × length 15 cm) was prepared and solid recording was performed on the entire surface. After laser recording, when the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving sheet are then peeled off, the same method is used, that is, while fixing the image receiving sheet to a flat table and pulling the thermal transfer sheet, while using the same apparatus as shown in FIG. Peeling was performed while measuring the peel strength between the heat-sensitive transfer layer and the photothermal conversion layer under the conditions.
[0095]
(7) Measurement of peel strength F2 between the heat-sensitive transfer layer and the image receiving layer in the laser non-irradiated (non-recorded) region
A thermal transfer material (size: width 4.5 cm × length 15 cm) is prepared, and without performing laser recording on the thermal transfer sheet, the apparatus shown in FIG. The peel strength between the heat-sensitive transfer layer and the image-receiving layer of the image-receiving sheet was measured.
The above results are summarized in Table 2.
[0096]
[Table 3]
Figure 0003720441
[0097]
[Table 4]
Figure 0003720441
[0098]
From the results shown in Table 2, the thermal transfer material (Examples 1 to 3) is configured using the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving sheet so as to satisfy the relationship of F1> F2 and F1-F3> 0.3 g / cm. Thus, it can be seen that, after laser recording, when the thermal transfer sheet is peeled from the image receiving sheet, there is no peeling between the cushion layer and the image receiving layer, and the transfer can be performed smoothly and reliably. As a result, a good transfer image can be obtained on the image receiving layer. Further, when transferring (retransferring) the transfer image obtained on the image receiving layer to the printing book paper, by setting F1 ≦ 2 g / cm, the reprinted image can be satisfactorily produced without causing the printing book paper to peel off. It can also be seen that it can be obtained.
[0099]
On the other hand, when the yellow pigment is used as in Comparative Example 1, in general, the adhesiveness of the thermal transfer layer is improved as compared with the case where a magenta or cyan pigment is used, or the relationship between F1 and F2 and F1 and F3. Does not satisfy the relationship required in the present invention, and therefore, there is relatively much peeling between the cushion layer and the image receiving layer, making smooth transfer operation difficult. Further, even when the usage amounts of the synthetic wax and the surfactant are adjusted, when F1> F2 and the relationship of F1-F3> 0.3 g / cm is not satisfied (Comparative Examples 2 to 5), the transfer operation is performed. There is no sufficient improvement. Further, even when the amount of the high molecular polymer in the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet is adjusted, if the above relational expression is not satisfied (Comparative Examples 6 to 7), sufficient improvement cannot be achieved.
[0100]
【The invention's effect】
By using the thermal transfer material according to the present invention, which is formed by combining the thermal transfer sheet and the image receiving sheet in a laminated state and adjusting the peel strength between the layers to have a specific relationship, the laser recording image is transferred to the thermal transfer sheet. Is smoothly transferred to the image receiving sheet, and a high-quality transfer image is stably obtained on the image receiving sheet. Further, when the transfer image obtained on the image receiving sheet is retransferred to the printing paper, a smooth transfer operation can be realized without causing the paper to peel off. Accordingly, it is possible to create a color proof having high printed matter approximation.
