Description

【0001】
(.NOT.
(Y4).AND. [ALM(2)={(Wb≠0).AND. (Y4).AND. (.NOT. [ALM(1)={(Wb≠0).AND. (.NOT. Y4).AND.

[Industrial applications]
The present invention relates to a forward monitoring device for a vehicle, and more particularly, to a forward monitoring device for a vehicle that determines whether there is a possibility of collision of an own vehicle with an oncoming vehicle when avoiding an obstacle, based on an image or the like in front of the vehicle.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a collision warning device described in Japanese Utility Model Laid-Open No. 1-152282 is known as a vehicle front monitoring device. This is a collision warning device including an information processing circuit that determines a risk of collision of the own vehicle with respect to a preceding vehicle based on the inter-vehicle distance information and issues an alarm signal when it is determined that a risk of collision occurs. A first inter-vehicle distance is calculated from the detected inter-vehicle distance and the vehicle speed according to a predetermined formula, and a second inter-vehicle distance smaller than the first inter-vehicle distance is also calculated. A warning signal of a warning level corresponding to the distance between the two vehicles and the distance between the two vehicles is issued.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Since such a conventional vehicle forward monitoring device uses a radar or the like as a sensor, the information available regarding the collision target is limited to the distance between the vehicle and the preceding vehicle, and the device configuration is also described above. It is like what you did.
[0004]
On the other hand, due to the recent remarkable progress in performance and price of the CCD (Charge Coupled Device), a CCD camera is adopted as a sensor, and various kinds of effective information is obtained from images captured by the CCD camera. Calculates information about not only obstacles such as preceding vehicles and parked vehicles, but also information about oncoming vehicles and lanes, and based on this information, the collision of the host vehicle with oncoming vehicles when there are obstacles and oncoming vehicles Practical application of a vehicle forward monitoring device that determines the possibility of the possibility is becoming more realistic.
[0005]
However, even if it is possible to extract more effective information than before by taking information from a captured video, sufficient quality and quantity of information cannot always be obtained. For example, it is difficult to accurately detect the length of an obstacle in front in the depth direction from behind, and the detected value often varies, but this length is a key factor in determining obstacle avoidance time. Therefore, the detection accuracy and the like greatly affect the reliability and the like of the collision possibility determination. In addition, the video also includes information on the driving situation such as the driving lane. Therefore, how to determine the possibility of collision from video information is an important issue.
[0006]
The present invention has been made in view of such a point, and it is possible to accurately determine the possibility of collision of the own vehicle with an oncoming vehicle when an obstacle and an oncoming vehicle are present based on an image in front of the vehicle and the like. It is an object of the present invention to provide a forward monitoring device for a vehicle that can be determined on the safe side.
The present invention also provides a vehicle front which can accurately and safely determine whether or not the own vehicle may collide with an oncoming vehicle in the presence of an obstacle and an oncoming vehicle in accordance with the traveling situation. It is another object to provide a monitoring device.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a vehicle forward monitoring device that can expect an accurate warning based on these determinations.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The vehicle forward monitoring device as a first solution means (invented in claim 1 at the beginning of the application) invented to achieve this object is a vehicle (as shown in FIG. 1, and FIG. 2 or FIG. 3). (1) It is mounted on an own vehicle equipped with an image pickup means such as a CCD camera (2) or a vidicon camera for picking up a forward image and a vehicle speed sensor (4) for detecting the speed of the own vehicle. The presence or absence of a collision possibility of the own vehicle is determined based on the forward image and the own vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed sensor, and the determination result is used as it is or as information or a signal of a value corresponding to the determination result. After the conversion, a predetermined response unit is provided (this response unit is incorporated in or integrated with the same device, and is provided as an LED or the like that flashes in response to an input, or is provided as a separate element or device and issues an alarm in response to the input. Emit or break A warning buzzer (6), a vehicle speed control device (6a), or the like that operates such as applying a vehicle.) In a vehicle forward monitoring device to be transmitted, a stopped vehicle, a low-speed preceding vehicle, or the like is determined based on a forward image received from the imaging unit. Obstacle detection means (73 or 75) for detecting the obstacle size such as the width, height and depth length of the obstacle and detecting the distance between the own vehicle obstacles; Means (91a) for calculating an estimated length of the obstacle in the depth direction from a table according to a predetermined estimation criterion for a general obstacle from the width and height of the obstacle size received from the obstacle detection means; The longer of the estimated length and the detected length is selected to be the obstacle length Obstacle length calculation means (91b), the obstacle length, the distance between the own vehicle obstacles from the obstacle detecting means, and the relative speed of the own vehicle obstacle from the obstacle detecting means or from the vehicle speed sensor. An obstacle avoidance time calculating means (91c) for receiving the own vehicle speed and performing a predetermined calculation to calculate an obstacle avoidance time until the own vehicle avoids a collision with the obstacle and overtakes the obstacle; An oncoming vehicle detecting unit (74 or 76) for extracting an oncoming vehicle from the front image received from the imaging unit, and detecting a distance between the oncoming vehicle and the relative speed of the oncoming vehicle; Obstacle length calculation means The predetermined length is calculated by receiving the obstacle length from the vehicle, the distance between the own vehicle and the obstacle from the obstacle detecting means, the distance between the own vehicle and the oncoming vehicle from the oncoming vehicle detecting means, and the relative speed of the own vehicle oncoming vehicle. The oncoming vehicle arrival time calculation means (91d) for calculating the oncoming vehicle arrival time until the oncoming vehicle collides with or comes closest to the own vehicle, and the obstacle avoidance time calculation means A vehicle collision condition determination that receives the obstacle avoidance time and the oncoming vehicle arrival time from the oncoming vehicle arrival time calculation means, compares these times, and determines whether or not there is a possibility of collision of the own vehicle. Means (91e).
[0008]
The vehicle forward monitoring device as the second solution means invented to achieve the above object is the vehicle forward monitoring device of the first solution means,
The traveling lane width is detected by extracting the traveling lane of the own vehicle from the front image, and the margin in the lane beside the obstacle in the traveling lane of the own vehicle is detected from the detected traveling lane width and the obstacle size. A lane margin width detecting means (77);
In-lane traveling possibility determining means (93) for determining whether or not the own vehicle can travel beside the obstacle in the own vehicle traveling lane based on the in-lane margin width and the width of the own vehicle;
A vehicle collision determination suppressing means (97) for suppressing the determination of the possibility of collision of the own vehicle by the vehicle collision condition determining means when it is determined that the vehicle can travel in the lane;
It is characterized by having.
[0009]
A vehicle forward monitoring device as a third solution means invented to achieve the above object,
The vehicle front monitoring device according to the first solution or the vehicle front monitoring device according to the second solution,
Turning determination means (94) for detecting that the own vehicle has been turned to the oncoming lane based on the steering angle of the steering wheel detected by the steering angle sensor (3) provided in the own vehicle;
An alarm level judging means (98) for judging the alarm level according to the judgment result of the steering judging means and the judgment result of the possibility of collision of the own vehicle, and sending the judgment result to the response section.
It is characterized by having.
[0010]
[Action]
In the vehicle front monitoring device of the first solution, the obstacle detecting means extracts the obstacle, if any, from the forward video taken in front of the own vehicle. The obstacle size and the distance between the host vehicle and the obstacle are detected. Obstacle length, which is the length of the obstacle in the depth direction, is obtained by the obstacle length calculation means from the obstacle size of the detected values. Is processed. That is, when the estimated length in the depth direction of the obstacle is calculated according to a predetermined estimation criterion for various obstacles, and the estimated length exceeds the detected length in the depth direction of the obstacle among the obstacle sizes, The estimated length is used as the obstacle length instead of the detected length.
[0011]
As a result, the longer one of the detected length and the estimated length is adopted as the obstacle length. Therefore, when it is not possible to detect the length of the obstacle in front in the depth direction, or when it can be detected but is shorter than a generally assumed length, a common sense value is adopted and based on this value. Thereafter, the subsequent determination processing is performed. Then, the obstacle avoidance time calculating means calculates the obstacle avoidance time from the obstacle length, the preceding distance between the own vehicle obstacles, the own vehicle speed, and the like. The obstacle avoidance time based on the obstacle length and the like as described above is a longer time in a common sense range when the length of the obstacle in the depth direction is undetectable, etc. If the length in the depth direction can be accurately detected by obtaining an image or the like from the camera and the length exceeds a commonly assumed length, it takes a long time corresponding to the accurate length.
[0012]
On the other hand, if there is an oncoming vehicle, the oncoming vehicle detecting means detects the distance between the oncoming vehicle and the oncoming vehicle and the relative speed of the oncoming vehicle from the front image that also shows the oncoming vehicle. Oncoming vehicle arrival time is calculated by the oncoming vehicle arrival time calculating means from the oncoming vehicle distance and the own vehicle oncoming vehicle relative speed.
[0013]
Then, the vehicle collision condition determination means performs a condition determination based on the obstacle avoidance time and the oncoming vehicle arrival time, and as a result, determines whether or not there is a possibility of collision of the own vehicle with the oncoming vehicle. . In this way, the presence or absence of a collision possibility of the own vehicle when the obstacle and the oncoming vehicle are present is determined based on the forward image and the own vehicle speed, but in this determination, the oncoming vehicle arrival time is short. The longer the obstacle avoidance time is, the more likely it is that there is a possibility of collision. Therefore, the judgment result indicates that the longer the obstacle avoidance time is, the less accurate the collision is from the viewpoint of the judgment accuracy. It can be said that it is on the safe side from the viewpoint of prevention.
[0014]
Therefore, this determination based on the obstacle avoidance time as described above is based on a common sense estimated length without depending on the case where the length of the obstacle in the depth direction is inaccurate due to undetectability or the like. Therefore, when the length of the obstacle in the depth direction exceeds a common sense length and is correctly detected, the obstacle becomes accurate based on the detected length. Then, the accurate and safe-side determination result is sent to a response unit or the like in order to give a predetermined warning to a driver or the like.
[0015]
Therefore, the vehicle forward monitoring device of the present invention can accurately and safely determine whether there is a possibility of collision of the own vehicle with an oncoming vehicle when an obstacle and an oncoming vehicle are present, based on a forward image and the like. it can.
[0016]
In the vehicle front monitoring device according to the second solving means, the width of the traveling lane of the own vehicle is detected from the front image by the in-lane margin detecting means, and the detected width and the obstacle size and the like are detected. From the above, the margin in the lane beside the obstacle in the traveling lane of the own vehicle is detected, and further, based on the margin in the lane and the width of the own vehicle, the in-lane traveling possibility determining means determines that the own vehicle is in the traveling lane. It is determined whether or not the vehicle can run beside the obstacle. When it is determined that the vehicle can travel in the lane, the vehicle collision condition determining unit suppresses the determination of the possibility of collision of the own vehicle by the vehicle collision determination suppressing unit.
[0017]
As a result, when it is possible to travel beside the obstacle in the own vehicle traveling lane and avoid the obstacle without protruding into the oncoming lane, it is determined that there is no possibility of collision between the own vehicle and the oncoming vehicle Is obtained, the result of the determination becomes fine and accurate according to the running conditions such as the obstacle width and the lane width.
[0018]
Therefore, the forward monitoring device for a vehicle according to the present invention determines whether or not there is a possibility of collision of the own vehicle with an oncoming vehicle in the presence of an obstacle and an oncoming vehicle, in a fine-grained manner, accurately and safely on the basis of the traveling situation. be able to.
[0019]
Further, in the vehicle forward monitoring device according to the third solving means, the turning determination means detects that the own vehicle has been turned to the oncoming lane based on the steering angle of the steering wheel. Then, the warning level determining means determines the lightness of the warning level according to the determination result of the turning determining means and the determination result of the possibility of collision of the own vehicle, and further, the determination result is transmitted to the response unit or the like. You.
[0020]
Thus, in a situation where there is a possibility that the vehicle will collide with an oncoming vehicle if the vehicle runs out of the oncoming lane, when a steering wheel operation is performed such that the vehicle protrudes into the oncoming lane, the risk of collision is further increased by this operation. Emergency warning etc. can be issued. Therefore, it is possible to accurately prevent a steering operation that leads to an unreasonable overtaking or the like.
[0021]
Therefore, the forward monitoring device for a vehicle according to the present invention determines the lightness of the warning level in consideration of the steering operation, thereby determining the possibility of collision of the own vehicle with the oncoming vehicle in the presence of the obstacle and the oncoming vehicle. It is possible to expect an accurate warning of the presence / absence and an accurate warning based on the determination on the safe side.
[0022]
【Example】
A configuration of a first embodiment of a vehicle front monitoring device according to the present invention will be described. FIG. 1 is a diagram showing the outline thereof, and FIG. 2 is a functional block diagram thereof. Note that illustration and description of general hardware components such as an A / D conversion circuit are omitted.
[0023]
The vehicle front monitoring device 5 is a device mounted on the vehicle 1 as a host vehicle. The vehicle 1 has a pair of CCD cameras 2 provided at an upper part of the vehicle body for capturing an image in front of the vehicle and outputting a front image signal ccd, and a steering shaft portion provided at a steering shaft portion for detecting a steering angle θa of a steering wheel. A steering angle sensor 3 and a vehicle speed sensor 4 for detecting the speed of the vehicle 1, that is, a vehicle speed Va as the own vehicle speed, are provided, and the detected vehicle speed Va, the front video signal ccd, and the steering angle θa are monitored forward for the vehicle. It is sent to the device 5.
[0024]
The vehicle 1 is provided with a buzzer 6 as a response unit that receives an alarm signal ALM and emits an alarm sound, and a vehicle speed control device 6a that controls a brake 6b according to the alarm signal ALM to automatically decelerate. The vehicle front monitoring device 5 generates an alarm signal ALM according to the determination result and sends it to the buzzer 6 or the like.
[0025]
The configuration of the vehicular forward monitoring device 5 is roughly divided into a DSP suitable for image processing, ie, a digital signal processor 70, an MPU suitable for general information processing, ie, a microprocessor unit 90, and information required between them. It comprises an I / F for transfer, that is, an interface 80.
[0026]
The DSP 70 receives the forward video signal ccd, detects desired information from the forward video, and sends this information to the MPU 90 via the I / F 80. As an image processing unit for this purpose, a region of stereo image data 71 receiving the forward video signal ccd, a lane detecting unit 72 for detecting a lane from the stereo image data 71, and an obstacle detecting unit for detecting an obstacle 73 and an oncoming vehicle detection unit 74 for detecting an oncoming vehicle.
[0027]
The I / F 80 is mainly configured with a dual port memory that can be arbitrarily accessed from any of the DSP 70 and the MPU 90. Then, the transfer data is written into the memory by the DSP 70 and the data is read by the MPU 90, thereby facilitating the transfer of necessary information. The I / F 80 may be configured by a shared memory connected to a bus, a latch unit and a parallel transmission line or a serial transmission line, or the like.
[0028]
The MPU 90 is a one-chip computer, inputs information detected from a forward image and the vehicle speed Va, determines whether there is a possibility of collision of the vehicle 1 based on these, and generates an alarm signal ALM corresponding to the determination result. This is sent to the buzzer 6. For this purpose, an oncoming vehicle collision determining unit 91 based on the own vehicle speed and an alarm output unit 99 are provided in its memory as an oncoming vehicle collision determining unit.
[0029]
Further, the oncoming vehicle collision determination unit 91 includes an estimated length calculation unit 91a as an obstacle length calculation unit, a virtual obstacle length selection unit 91b, an obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 91c, and an oncoming vehicle arrival time calculation unit 91d. And a vehicle collision condition determination unit 91e.
[0030]
The lane detecting section 72 performs image processing such as extracting features of a fine line pattern, and detects a lane from the stereo image data 71 by this processing. Therefore, the lane information required for the processing by the obstacle detection unit 73 and the oncoming vehicle detection unit 74 is extracted and provided for use.
[0031]
The obstacle detection unit 73 receives the stereo image data 71 and the lane information, and performs image processing such as extracting features of a box pattern on an image of the stereo image data 71 on the left side of the lane. By this processing, if there is an obstacle such as a parked or parked vehicle on the road shoulder, this is extracted, and the width Wb, height Hb and depth length Lb of this obstacle are detected. Further, a distance Db from the vehicle 1 to the obstacle is calculated based on the parallax angle of the stereo image and the like.
[0032]
The oncoming vehicle detection unit 74 receives the stereo image data 71 and the lane information, and performs image processing such as extracting a box-shaped pattern feature from the stereo image data 71 on an image on the right side of the lane. The oncoming vehicle in the oncoming lane is extracted by this processing. Then, processing such as calculation based on the parallax angle of the stereo image and the like is performed on the oncoming vehicle to calculate the distance Dc from the vehicle 1 to the oncoming vehicle. Further, a relative speed Vc between the vehicle 1 and the oncoming vehicle is calculated based on a difference between the previous detection value and the current detection value of the distance Dc.
[0033]
The estimated length calculation unit 91a calculates a relational expression according to a predetermined estimation criterion for a general obstacle in the depth direction of the obstacle from the width Wb and the height Hb of the obstacle detected by the obstacle detection unit 73. Then, the estimated length Lb 'of the obstacle in the depth direction is calculated from the obstacle size. For example, it estimates the estimated length Lb '. In this processing, when the width Wb is 1 m or less, it is assumed that the obstacle is a pedestrian or a motorcycle, the length Lb ′ is 2 m, the width Wb is more than 1 m and less than 2 m, and the height Hb is 1.5 m. In the following cases, assuming that the obstacle is a passenger car or the like, the length Lb 'is set to 4 m, and when the width Wb is more than 1 m and less than 2 m and the height Hb is more than 1.5 m, the obstacle is a normal truck or the like. When the width Lb 'is 6 m or less, the length Lb' is 2 m when the width Wb is 1 m or less, and the length Lb 'is 2 m when the width Wb is 2 m or more, assuming that the obstacle is a large truck or a bus. Let Lb 'be 10 m.
[0034]
The virtual obstacle length selection unit 91b calculates the longer one of the estimated length Lb ′ calculated by the estimated length calculator 91a and the detected length Lb of the obstacle detected by the obstacle detector 73 in the depth direction. Is assumed to be a virtual obstacle length Lb ″. For example, when the estimated length Lb ′ is equal to or less than the detection length Lb, the detection length Lb is selected as the virtual obstacle length Lb ″, and the estimated length Lb ′ is determined as the detection length Lb. When the obstacle length exceeds the estimated length, the estimated length Lb ′ is selected as the virtual obstacle length Lb ″. Length.
[0035]
The obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 91c calculates the obstacle length Lb selected by the virtual obstacle length selection unit 91b, the distance Db detected by the obstacle length detection unit 73, and the vehicle speed Va detected by the vehicle speed sensor 4. According to the calculation formula [t1 = {((Db + Lb ″) / Va) + α}], the obstacle avoidance time t1 is calculated as the time until the host vehicle avoids the obstacle and turns around the obstacle. Here, α is a time obtained by adding a predetermined margin to the lane change time required for reciprocating between the own lane and the oncoming lane.
[0036]
The oncoming vehicle arrival time calculation unit 91d calculates the distance Db from the vehicle 1 to the obstacle detected by the obstacle detection unit 73, the distance Dc detected by the oncoming vehicle detection unit 74, the relative speed Vc, and the virtual obstacle length selection unit 91b. And the virtual obstacle length Lb "selected in the above, the calculation formula [t2 = {Dc- (Db + Lb" + α)} / Vc] is used until the oncoming vehicle collides with the own vehicle or arrives at the closest position. To calculate the oncoming vehicle arrival time t2. Here, α is a time obtained by adding a predetermined margin to the lane change time required for reciprocating between the own lane and the oncoming lane.
[0037]
The vehicle collision condition determination unit 91e compares the obstacle avoidance time t1 calculated by the obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 91c with the oncoming vehicle arrival time t2 calculated by the oncoming vehicle arrival time calculation unit 91d based on the comparison formula [Y1 = [T1> t2}], and when it is determined that there is a possibility that the vehicle 1 may collide with the oncoming vehicle when the vehicle 1 goes out of the oncoming lane in order to avoid an obstacle, the determination result of the logical value “true” If Y1 is issued and it is determined that there is no possibility of the vehicle 1 colliding with the oncoming vehicle even if the vehicle 1 goes out of the oncoming lane in order to avoid an obstacle, a determination result Y1 of a logical value “false” is issued.
[0038]
Based on the width Wb of the obstacle detected by the obstacle detection unit 73 and the determination result Y1 by the vehicle collision condition determination unit 91e, the alarm output unit 99 generates a logical expression [ALM = {(Wb ≠ 0). AND. (Y1)}], the buzzer 6 is operated only when the width Wb of the obstacle is other than zero, that is, only when the obstacle is present and there is a possibility of collision.
[0039]
The operation of the vehicle front monitoring device according to the first embodiment will be described.
[0040]
When the driver activates the vehicle front monitoring device 5 while the vehicle 1 is traveling, the vehicle front monitoring device 5 performs predetermined initialization, and after this, the DSP 70 and the MPU 90 operate in synchronization. . That is, the image processing in the DSP 70, the transfer of the processing result in the I / F 80, and the subsequent oncoming vehicle collision determination processing in the MPU 90 are repeated at a predetermined fixed cycle.
[0041]
The processing procedure in one cycle will be described in detail. In the DSP 70, first, the stereo image data 71 is captured from the forward video signal ccd, then the processing of the lane detecting section 72 is performed, and then the processing of the obstacle detecting section 73 is performed. And the processing of the oncoming vehicle detection unit 74 is performed. Thus, the width Wb, height Hb, detection length Lb of the obstacle, the distance Db to the obstacle, the distance Dc to the oncoming vehicle, and the relative speed Vc to the oncoming vehicle are obtained.
Then, these detected values and the like are transferred to the MPU 90.
[0042]
After receiving this transfer, the MPU 90 first performs the processing of the estimated length calculation unit 91a to determine the estimated length Lb 'of the obstacle. next, Virtual The processing of the obstacle length selection unit 91b, the input of the vehicle speed Va, and the processing of the obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 91c are performed in this order, and the obstacle avoidance time t1 is obtained. Further, the processing of the oncoming vehicle arrival time calculation section 91d is performed, and the oncoming vehicle arrival time t2 is obtained. Further, thereafter, the processing of the vehicle collision condition determination section 91e is performed to determine the determination result Y1, and finally, the processing of the alarm output section 99 is performed, and the alarm signal ALM having a value corresponding to the determination result Y1 is generated. . This completes the processing in this one cycle.
[0043]
When the processing of the DSP 70 and the MPU 90 is continuously performed, and an obstacle and an oncoming vehicle are detected during the operation of the forward monitoring device 5 for a vehicle, the vehicle is not decelerated to avoid the obstacle. If the vehicle 1 goes out of the oncoming lane, it is determined whether or not there is a possibility of collision with the oncoming vehicle by the forward monitoring device 5 for a vehicle. Sent to Thus, when there is a possibility of collision, the buzzer 6 sounds, so that the driver can be alerted.
[0044]
Second Embodiment A vehicle front monitoring device according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to a functional block diagram of FIG.
The second embodiment differs from the first embodiment only in the obstacle detection unit and the oncoming vehicle detection unit in the DSP 70 and the obstacle avoidance time calculation unit in the MPU 90.
Therefore, these differences will be described in detail.
[0045]
The preceding vehicle detection unit 75 is an alternative to the obstacle detection unit 73, but receives the stereo image data 71 and the vehicle speed Va, and performs image processing such as extracting features of a box-shaped pattern from the stereo image data 71. Then, the target is specified, and the distance Db and the relative speed Vb from the target are calculated. Further, if the relative speed Vb is compared with the vehicle speed Va (Vb ≦ Va), the target is identified as an obstacle. Then, the width Wb, height Hb, and depth Lb of the obstacle are detected. These detected values / calculated values are sent to the MPU 90. As a result, the obstacle detection unit 75 also detects a relative speed with respect to an obstacle including a preceding vehicle that is traveling.
[0046]
The oncoming vehicle detection unit 76 is an alternative to the oncoming vehicle detection unit 74, but receives the stereo image data 71 and the vehicle speed Va and performs image processing such as extracting a box-shaped pattern feature from the stereo image data 71. Then, a target object is specified, and a distance Dc and a relative speed Vc from the target object are calculated. Alternatively, the distance Dc and the like are obtained by using the processing result of the preceding vehicle detection unit 75. Then, if the relative speed Vc is compared with the vehicle speed Va (Vc> Va), this object is identified as an oncoming vehicle. These detected values / calculated values are sent to the MPU 90.
[0047]
As described above, by distinguishing the preceding vehicle and the oncoming vehicle based on the relative speed, it is possible to calculate data necessary for the oncoming vehicle collision determination process even if the lane detecting unit 72 is omitted. I have. Note that the lane detecting section 72 can also be used, and if such a configuration is adopted, the image processing section has a higher detection capability.
[0048]
The obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 92c replaces the obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 91c. The obstacle length Lb ″ calculated by the virtual obstacle length selection unit 91b and the distance Db detected by the obstacle length detection unit 75 Based on the relative speed Vb and the relative speed Vb, an obstacle avoidance is calculated as a time until the vehicle turns around ahead by avoiding an obstacle such as a preceding vehicle by using a calculation formula [t1 = {((Db + Lb ") / Vb) + α}]. Time t1 is calculated.
[0049]
The operation of the vehicle front monitoring device according to the second embodiment having the above configuration will be described. The operation of this device is the same as that of the first embodiment described above, except for omitting the processing of the lane detector and replacing the obstacle detector, oncoming vehicle detector, and obstacle avoidance time calculator.
Therefore, the device of the second embodiment performs the time determination process based on the relative speed, so that not only the parked / stopped vehicle and the pedestrian but also the traveling preceding vehicle can be accurately described. The possibility of collision can be determined.
[0050]
In the time determination process based on the relative speed, in the configuration of the first embodiment, the obstacle detection unit 73 is extended so as to also calculate the relative speed Vb, and the second process is performed instead of the obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 91c. It is also possible to employ only the obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 92c of the embodiment.
[0051]
A third embodiment of the vehicle front monitoring apparatus according to the present invention will be described with reference to a functional block diagram of FIG.
The device of the third embodiment is different from that of the above-described second embodiment in that a lane etc. detecting unit 77 as a lane margin width detecting means is added in the DSP 70, and the in-lane running determination is made in the MPU 90. A lane-in-lane running permission determining unit 93 as a means, a turning determining unit 94 as a turning determining unit, and a vehicle collision determining suppressing unit 97 as a vehicle collision determining suppressing unit are added; Is provided in place of the alarm output unit 99.
Therefore, these differences will be described in detail.
[0052]
The lane etc. detecting unit 77 performs image processing such as extracting features of a fine line pattern from the stereo image data 71 to extract a lane and also calculates its speed Vd. Further, if the speed Vd is compared with the vehicle speed Va (Vd = Va), it is confirmed that this is a lane. Then, the distance between the lane and the obstacle on the left side thereof, that is, the in-lane margin Wd is calculated and obtained.
[0053]
The in-lane running possibility determination unit 93 compares the margin width Wd detected by the lane etc. detection unit 77 with the width Wa of the vehicle 1 which is the default value [Y2 = {Wd> (Wa + β)}]. Performs a comparison operation. Here, β is a margin of a gap required for the vehicle 1 to pass, and is determined by an experiment or the like. Accordingly, the in-lane traveling determination unit 93 outputs a determination result Y2 of a logical value “true” when the vehicle 1 can travel beside the obstacle in the own vehicle traveling lane, and outputs a logical value “true” when the vehicle 1 cannot travel. A determination result Y2 of "false" is issued.
[0054]
The vehicle collision determination suppression unit 97 is based on the determination result Y1 of the vehicle collision condition determination unit 91e and the determination result Y2 of the in-lane traveling possibility determination unit 93, and uses the logical expression [Y4 = {(Y1). AND. (.NOT. Y2)}]. Accordingly, when the vehicle collision determination suppression unit 97 determines that the vehicle 1 can travel beside the obstacle in the own vehicle traveling lane, the determination result Y1 from the obstacle avoidance time calculation unit 92c remains unchanged. The determination result Y1 is suppressed in order to prevent the determination result Y4.
[0055]
The turning determination unit 94 performs a logical operation on the basis of the steering wheel steering angle θa detected by the steering angle sensor 4 by a comparison formula [Y3 = {θa> γ}]. Here, γ is a fixed value that defines a general operation amount for turning the steering wheel right when the vehicle goes out of the oncoming lane and passes the preceding vehicle. As a result, the turning determination unit 94 detects that the host vehicle has been turned to the oncoming lane.
[0056]
The alarm degree determination unit 98 receives the width Wb of the obstacle detected by the preceding vehicle detection unit 73, the determination result Y4 from the vehicle collision determination suppression unit 97, and the determination result Y3 by the turning determination unit 94, and receives the logic. The formula [ALM (3) = {(Wb ≠ 0). AND. (Y4). AND. (Y3)}] and the logical expression [ALM (2) = {(Wb ≠ 0). AND. (Y4). AND. (.NOT. Y3)}] and the logical expression [ALM (1) = {(Wb ≠ 0). AND. (.NOT.Y4). AND. (Y3)}] to perform a logical operation. The warning command corresponding to each level is sent to the buzzer 6 as warning signals ALM (1) to ALM (3). With this, when an obstacle is present, the alarm level determination unit 98 prevents the vehicle from colliding with an obstacle while passing an oncoming vehicle, or an emergency warning for stopping a transfer to an oncoming lane that may cause a collision. For example, a deceleration warning for urging the driver to depress the brake, a warning for urging a cautious obstacle avoidance operation, and the like are generated.
[0057]
The operation of the vehicle front monitoring device according to the third embodiment will be described.
[0058]
In the forward monitoring device 5 for a vehicle that is operating while the vehicle 1 is running, each process is repeatedly performed in the following procedure at predetermined intervals by a timer interrupt.
In the DSP 70, the processing of the preceding vehicle detection unit 75, the processing of the oncoming vehicle detection unit 76, and the processing of the lane detection unit 77 are performed in this order, whereby the width Wb, height Hb, and detection length Lb of the obstacle are obtained. In addition, the distance Db to the obstacle, the relative speed Vb to the obstacle, the distance Dc to the oncoming vehicle, the relative speed Vc to the oncoming vehicle, and the in-lane width Wd are obtained.
Then, these detected values and the like are transferred to the MPU 90.
[0059]
After receiving this transfer, in the MPU 90, first, a series of processes from the estimated length calculation unit 91a to the vehicle collision condition determination unit 91e are performed by the oncoming vehicle collision determination unit 92 as in the second embodiment. Y1 is obtained. Further, the processing of the in-lane traveling permission determining section 93 is performed to determine the determination result Y2, and the processing of the vehicle collision determination suppressing section 97 is further performed to determine the determination result Y4.
As a result, a fine-grained determination is made in accordance with the running conditions such as the obstacle width and the lane width.
[0060]
Next, in the MPU 90, the processing of the turning determination unit 94 is performed to determine the determination result Y3, and the processing of the alarm degree determination unit 98 is further performed, and the alarm signals ALM (1) to ALM (1) to (3) corresponding to the alarm level are performed. ) Is generated.
As a result, the buzzer 6 issues an alarm corresponding to the risk of collision that differs depending on the manner of operating the steering wheel.
[0061]
Therefore, during the continuation of the processing, the vehicle forward monitoring device determines whether or not the own vehicle may collide with the oncoming vehicle in the presence of the obstacle and the oncoming vehicle based on the front image and the like according to the traveling situation. It is possible to make a fine, accurate and safe determination, and based on this determination, it is possible to expect an accurate warning in consideration of the turning operation.
[0062]
The processing of calculating the relative speeds Vb and Vc from the distances Db and Dc may be performed on the MPU 90 side if the processing capacity of the MPU 90 has room.
When the processing speed of the DSP 70 or the MPU 90 is insufficient, the functions of the above-described units can be realized by a digital circuit. From this point of view, the alarm level determination unit 98 and the like are illustrated using equivalent logic circuits.
[0063]
【The invention's effect】
As is apparent from the above description, in the vehicle forward monitoring device according to the first solving means of the present invention, the virtual obstacle length for calculating the obstacle avoidance time is calculated by using the detected length and the general assumed length. By making the vehicle longer, it is possible to accurately and safely determine the possibility of collision of the own vehicle with an oncoming vehicle when an obstacle and an oncoming vehicle are present, based on a forward image and the like. Play.
[0064]
Further, in the vehicle forward monitoring device according to the second solving means of the present invention, by adopting a configuration which also reflects a running condition such as an obstacle width and a lane width, the system can be used when an obstacle and an oncoming vehicle are present. It is possible to determine whether or not there is a possibility of collision of the own vehicle with the oncoming vehicle in a detailed and accurate manner on the safe side according to the running situation.
[0065]
Further, in the vehicle forward monitoring device according to the third solution of the present invention, the lightness of the alarm level is also determined in consideration of the steering operation, so that the oncoming vehicle when an obstacle and an oncoming vehicle are present is determined. Thus, it is possible to expect an accurate warning based on the accurate and safe determination on the possibility of collision of the own vehicle with the vehicle.
