【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は、打球の方向性の向上を
図ったゴルフクラブヘッドの改良に関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】一般に、アイアンクラブのヘッドは、軟
鉄やステンレス等の金属によってホーゼル部やソール
部，フェース部等が一体的に成形されているが、この種
のヘッドは、重量をバック部の周縁部に分散させること
によってスイートスポットが拡大し、又、スイングの際
に慣性モーメントが増加して打球の方向性が向上するこ
とが知られている。
【０００３】そこで、従来では、実公平３−２３２６２
号公報又は図１０及び図１１に示すように、ヘッド本体
１より比重の大きな材料で成形した略蹄鉄形状のウェイ
ト部材３をヘッド本体１の周縁部に装着したり、実開昭
６０−９７１５８号公報又は図１２及び図１３に示すよ
うに、ヘッド本体７のバック部９にその周縁部１０を除
いてキャビティ（凹陥部）１１を形成すると共に、当該
周縁部１０の後面側に設けた段部１３に、ヘッド本体７
より比重の大きな材料からなるウェイト部材１５を装着
する等、様々なゴルフクラブヘッドが提案されている。
【０００４】
【発明が解決しようとする課題】然し、図１０に示すヘ
ッド１７にあっては、ヘッド本体１の周縁部にウェイト
部材３を装着したものの、図１１に示すようにヘッド本
体１の中央が依然として肉厚に成形されているため、ヘ
ッド１７の重量をバック部の周縁部に分散させることが
必ずしも充分とはいえなかった。
【０００５】そして、図１２に示す後者のヘッド１９に
あっては、ヘッド本体７のバック部９にキャビティ１１
を形成してその周縁部１０にウェイト部材１５を装着し
たものの、図１３に示すようにヘッド本体７がソール部
２１側へ順次肉厚に成形されているため、上記従来例と
同様、バック部９の周縁部に重量を分散させることが必
ずしも充分とはいえなかった。
【０００６】然も、バック部９の周縁部１０の突出量が
少ないために多くのウェイト部材１５を装着することが
できず、又、周縁部１０の後面側にウェイト部材１５を
装着した構造では、充分に重量をバック部９の周縁部１
０に分散させることができない等、依然として解決すべ
き課題が残されていた。
【０００７】本発明は斯かる実情に鑑み案出されたもの
で、ヘッドが持つ慣性モーメントを高めて打球の方向性
を向上させたゴルフクラブヘッドを提供することを目的
とする。
【０００８】
【課題を解決するための手段】斯かる目的を達成するた
め、請求項１に係るゴルフクラブヘッドは、ヘッド本体
のバック部の周縁部に、ヘッド本体の後方へ延びる鍔部
をその肉厚より長く突設して当該バック部にキャビティ
を形成すると共に、鍔部のトップ側とソール側の外周面
に、ヘッド本体より比重の大きい材料からなるウェイト
部材を装着したものであり、請求項２に係る発明は、請
求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッドに於て、ヘッド本体の
フェース部を、鍔部に対応する周縁部を除きその肉厚を
略均一としたものである。
【０００９】そして、請求項３に係る発明は、請求項１
又は請求項２に記載のゴルフクラブヘッドに於て、ウェ
イト部材を、鍔部のトップ側とトウ側，ソール側の外周
面に装着したことを特徴とする。
【００１０】
【作用】各請求項に係るゴルフクラブヘッドによれば、
ヘッドのバック部側に突設した鍔部やウェイト部材が、
ヘッドの重量をバック部の周縁部に分散させることとな
る。
【００１１】従って、斯かるヘッドを装着したゴルフク
ラブでボールを打球すると、従来に比しスイートスポッ
トが拡大して打球の飛距離が伸び、又、スイングの際の
ヘッドの慣性モーメントが増加して、打球時のヘッドの
振れが軽減することとなる。
【００１２】
【実施例】以下、本発明の実施例を図面に基づき詳細に
説明する。図１乃至図４は請求項１乃至請求項３に係る
ゴルフクラブヘッドの一実施例を示し、図中、２３はス
テンレスや軟鉄で成形された金属製のヘッド本体で、従
来と同様、ヘッド本体２３にはホーゼル部２５やソール
部２７，フェース部２９等が一体的に成形されている。
【００１３】そして、ヘッド本体２３のバック部３１に
は、ヘッド本体２３の後方へ延びる鍔部３３がバック部
３１の周縁部に突設されてキャビティ３５が設けられて
おり、当該鍔部３３は、図２に示すようにその肉厚より
も長くヘッド本体２３の後方へ突出した形状となってい
る。そして、ヘッド本体２３のフェース部２９は、鍔部
３３に対応する周縁部を除いてその肉厚ｍが、図１０以
下の従来例に比し略均一な薄肉構造となっている。
【００１４】又、鍔部３３のトップ側とソール側の各外
周面には、図３及び図４に示すようにヘッド本体２３の
ヒール側からトウ側に亘って、夫々、略矩形状の凹部３
７，３９が形成されている。そして、当該各凹部３７，
３９に、夫々、ヘッド本体２３より比重の大きな例えば
ベリリウム銅からなるウェイト部材４１，４３が鍔部３
３の外周面と面一に嵌合，装着されて、本実施例に係る
ヘッド４５が構成されている。
【００１５】このように、本実施例に係るヘッド４５
は、バック部３１の周縁部に、ヘッド本体２３の後方へ
延びる鍔部３３をその肉厚より長く突設して当該バック
部３１にキャビティ３５を形成すると共に、ヘッド本体
２３より比重の大きなウェイト部材４１，４３を鍔部３
３のトップ側とソール側の各外周面側に装着し、然も、
フェース部２９の肉厚ｍを略均一な薄肉構造としてヘッ
ド本体２３の中央部付近の厚みを薄くしたので、上記鍔
部３３やウェイト部材４１，４３が、ヘッド４５の重量
をバック部３１の周縁部に分散させることとなる。
【００１６】従って、上記ヘッド４５を装着したゴルフ
クラブでボールを打球すると、ヘッド４５の重量がバッ
ク部３１の周縁部に確実に分散されているため、従来に
比しスイートスポットが拡大して打球の飛距離が伸びる
と共に、スイングの際のヘッド４５の慣性モーメントが
増加して打球時のヘッド４５の振れが軽減するので、打
球時にヘッド４５が安定して打球の方向性が良好となる
利点を有する。
【００１７】又、本実施例によれば、図１２に示す従来
例に比し、番手毎に鍔部３３の突出量を変えてその外周
面に装着するウェイト部材４１，４３の重量を適宜変更
することができるため、番手に合った慣性モーメントを
得ることができる等の効果を有する。
【００１８】図５乃至図９は請求項１乃至請求項３に係
るゴルフクラブヘッドの他の実施例を示し、図中、４７
は上記ヘッド本体２３と同一の金属材料で成形されたヘ
ッド本体で、ホーゼル部４９やソール部５１，フェース
部５３等が一体的に成形されている。
【００１９】そして、本実施例も、ヘッド本体４７の後
方へ延びる鍔部５５をバック部５７の周縁部に突設して
キャビティ５９が設けられており、図６に示すように鍔
部５５は、その肉厚よりも長くヘッド本体４７の後方へ
突出した形状となっている。そして、ヘッド本体４７の
フェース部５３は、鍔部５５に対応する周縁部を除いて
その肉厚ｎが略均一な薄肉構造となっている。
【００２０】又、鍔部５５の外周面には、図７乃至図９
に示すようにそのトップ側からトウ側，ソール側に亘っ
て１本の凹部６１が形成されている。そして、当該凹部
６１に、ヘッド本体４７よりも比重の大きなベリリウム
銅からなる略蹄鉄形状のウェイト部材６３が鍔部５５の
外周面と面一に嵌合，装着されて、本実施例に係るヘッ
ド６５が構成されている。
【００２１】このように、本実施例に係るヘッド６５
は、バック部５７の周縁部に、ヘッド本体４７の後方へ
延びる鍔部５５をその肉厚より長くヘッド本体４７の後
方へ突出させて当該バック部５７にキャビティ５９を形
成すると共に、ヘッド本体４７よりも比重の大きなウェ
イト部材６３を、鍔部５５のトップ側からトウ側，ソー
ル側に亘ってその外周面に装着し、然も、フェース部５
３の肉厚ｎを略均一な薄肉構造としてヘッド本体４７の
中央部付近の厚みを薄くしたので、鍔部５５やウェイト
部材６３がヘッド６５の重量をバック部５７の周縁部に
分散させる。
【００２２】従って、上記ヘッド６５を装着したゴルフ
クラブでボールを打球すると、ヘッド６５の重量がバッ
ク部５７の周縁部に確実に分散されているため、上記実
施例と同様、所期の目的を達成することが可能である
が、本実施例では、鍔部５５のトウ側にもウェイト部材
６５を装着しているため、上記実施例に比し更にスイー
トスポットが拡大して打球の飛距離が伸びると共に、ス
イングの際のヘッド６５の慣性モーメントが高まって打
球時のヘッド６５の振れが軽減するので、ヘッド６５が
安定して打球の方向性が更に良くなる効果を奏する。
【００２３】又、本実施例によっても、番手毎に鍔部５
５の突出量を変えたり、その外周面に装着するウェイト
部材６３の重量を適宜変更することによって、番手に合
った慣性モーメントを得ることができる等の効果を有す
る。
【００２４】
【発明の効果】以上述べたように、各請求項に記載のゴ
ルフクラブヘッドによれば、従来に比しヘッドの重量が
バック部の周縁部に確実に分散するので、斯かるヘッド
を装着したゴルフクラブでボールを打球すると、従来に
比し更にスイートスポットが拡大して打球の飛距離が伸
びると共に、スイングの際のヘッドの慣性モーメントが
高まって打球時のヘッドの振れが軽減するので、ヘッド
が安定して打球の方向性が更に良好となる利点を有す
る。
【００２５】そして、請求項２に係るゴルフクラブヘッ
ドにあっては、フェース部の肉厚を略均一としてヘッド
本体の中央部付近の厚みを薄くしたので、ヘッドの重量
をバック部の周縁部へより確実に分散させることができ
るし、請求項３に係るゴルフクラブヘッドにあっては、
鍔部のトウ側の外周面にもウェイト部材を装着したた
め、請求項１に係るゴルフクラブヘッドに比しヘッドの
重量をバック部の周縁部へより確実に分散させることが
できる等の効果を有する。
【００２６】更に又、各請求項に記載のゴルフクラブヘ
ッドによれば、アイアンの番手毎に鍔部の突出量を変え
てその外周面に装着するウェイト部材の重量を適宜変更
することにより、番手に合った慣性モーメントを得るこ
とができる利点を有する。

Claims (3)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 ヘッド本体のバック部の周縁部に、ヘッ
    ド本体の後方へ延びる鍔部をその肉厚より長く突設して
    当該バック部にキャビティを形成すると共に、鍔部のト
    ップ側とソール側の外周面に、ヘッド本体より比重の大
    きい材料からなるウェイト部材を装着したことを特徴と
    するゴルフクラブヘッド。
  2. 【請求項２】 ヘッド本体のフェース部は、鍔部に対応
    する周縁部を除きその肉厚が略均一となっていることを
    特徴とする請求項１記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
  3. 【請求項３】 ウェイト部材は、鍔部のトップ側とトウ
    側，ソール側の外周面に装着されていることを特徴とす
    る請求項１又は請求項２記載のゴルフクラブヘッド。
