In the image format method including the pressure transfer step as described above, the image receiving material at the time of pressure transfer tends to adhere to the recording material. In particular, since a water-soluble binder such as polyvinyl alcohol is usually used in the image receiving layer, the binder becomes soft under high temperature and high humidity, and the above-mentioned adhesion becomes remarkable. For this reason, it becomes difficult to separate (separate) both materials after that (the separation force becomes large), and the image receiving layer collapses during separation, causing a part of the cohesive failure to adhere to the recording layer side. May be accompanied. Further, in order to efficiently transfer an image (oil phase such as a color image-forming substance) on a recording material, a pigment or the like is included in the image-receiving layer to form voids. When the above is used, the above cohesive failure is also likely to occur.

[Effects of the Invention] The binder that constitutes the image-receiving layer of the present invention comprises a cured product (cured layer) formed by a crosslinking reaction of carboxy-modified polyvinyl alcohol. For this reason, the cohesive force (integrality) of the image receiving layer itself increases, and the image receiving layer becomes strong. Further, since the water resistance is enhanced by using such a hardened layer, the softening of the image receiving layer does not occur even under high temperature and high humidity, and it is possible to avoid an increase in adhesive force due to this.

The image receiving layer having the above configuration has an advantage that a transfer image can be easily formed and a glossy image can be obtained by heating after image formation. The thermoplastic compound is not particularly limited, and can be used by arbitrarily selecting from known thermoplastic resins (plastics) and waxes. However, the glass transition point of the thermoplastic resin and the melting point of the wax are preferably 200 ° C. or less.

As an exposure method in the imagewise exposure of the light-sensitive material, various exposure means can be used, but in general, a latent image of silver halide is obtained by imagewise exposure to radiation including visible light. The type of light source and the exposure amount can be selected according to the photosensitive wavelength of silver halide (in the case of dye sensitization, the sensitized wavelength) and the sensitivity. The original image may be a black and white image or a color image.

The light-sensitive material can be subjected to the development processing as described above to polymerize the polymerizable compound in any portion of the portion where the latent image of silver halide is formed or the portion where the latent image is not formed. Incidentally, in the light-sensitive material, the polymerizable compound in the portion where the latent image of silver halide is formed is generally polymerized in the above-mentioned development processing, but like the light-sensitive material described in JP-A-62-260241, It is also possible to polymerize the polymerizable compound in the portion where the latent image of silver halide is not formed, by adjusting the type and amount of the reducing agent used for. As described above, the polymerizable compound in the portion where the latent image is formed (or the portion where the latent image is not formed) can be polymerized and cured.

The photosensitive material that has been developed as described above,
The unpolymerized polymerizable compound is transferred to the image receiving material by pressurizing the above image receiving materials in a superposed state. Various conventionally known methods can be used for the pressing means. After the pressure transfer, the image receiving material is separated (separated) from the photosensitive material. Since the image-receiving layer of the image-receiving material is cured and water-resistant as described above, the separation (peeling) operation can be performed smoothly. As a result, there is no problematic cohesive failure.

As in the light-sensitive material described in JP 210446, a reducing agent precursor capable of releasing the reducing agent under heating conditions or in contact with a base or the like may be used instead of the reducing agent.
The reducing agent and the reducing agent precursor described in each of the above publications, the specification and the literature can be effectively used also in the photosensitive material in the present specification. Therefore, the “reducing agent” in the present specification includes the reducing agents and reducing agent precursors described in the above-mentioned publications, specifications and literatures. These reducing agents may be used alone, or as described in the above-mentioned respective specifications, two or more reducing agents may be mixed and used. When two or more types of reducing agents are used in combination, the reducing agents interact firstly by promoting reduction of silver halide (and / or organic silver salt) by so-called superadditivity. Causing the polymerization of the polymerizable compound via an oxidation-reduction reaction with another reducing agent coexisting with an oxidized form of the first reducing agent generated by the reduction of silver halide (and / or organic silver salt) (Or to suppress polymerization). However, in actual use, it is difficult to specify which of the above actions because the above reactions can occur simultaneously.
