Description

The present invention relates to a method for temper rolling a metal strip, a temper rolling machine for a metal strip, and a method for manufacturing a metal strip.

Various types of rolling mills are in practical use for cold rolling and temper rolling of metal strips. Commonly used rolling mills include a four-high rolling mill with a pair of work rolls that press the workpiece and a pair of backup rolls that support the work rolls, and a six-high rolling mill that has intermediate rolls in addition to the work rolls and backup rolls.

When a metal strip of the same width is rolled for a long period of time in such a rolling mill, the edge of the work roll is unevenly worn due to contact with the metal strip. Such one-sided wear of the work roll is also called, for example, an edge mark.

When a work roll with edge marks is used to roll a metal strip that is wider than the distance between the edge marks, the edge marks are transferred to the surface of the metal strip, resulting in an unsuitable appearance for the product.

The roughness of the work rolls is directly related to the appearance of the product surface. For this reason, the work rolls are replaced within a short period of time from when rolling begins until the surface roughness has deteriorated. Replacing work rolls is relatively easy and can be done in a short time. Therefore, the impact of work roll replacement on product manufacturing capacity is small.

When edge marks occur on a work roll, the edge marks are also transferred to the backup roll that is in contact with the work roll. If the edge marks are transferred to the backup roll, even if the work roll is replaced, the edge marks will be transferred from the backup roll to the work roll. For this reason, when edge marks are formed on the work roll, it becomes necessary to replace the backup roll as well. Replacing the backup roll requires the production line to be stopped for an extended period of time, which creates the problem of reduced production capacity.

In order to prevent the edge marks from being transferred to the metal strip, for example, a method is used in which metal strips are rolled from a wide metal strip to a narrower metal strip. When rolling of the narrowest metal strip is completed, the work rolls are replaced and the backup rolls are maintained or replaced. In addition, the edge marks are removed from the work rolls by adjusting the pressure of the dummy material with a dull roll.

However, the method of rolling a metal strip from a wide one to a narrower one alone has the problem that productivity decreases when the work rolls and backup rolls are replaced. In addition, when the work rolls and backup rolls are replaced, the metal strip remains unpressurized, which requires an additional process and increases production costs.

In addition, the method of adjusting the pressure of the dummy material with a dull roll has the problem that the use of the dummy material increases production costs. In addition, the production line must be slowed down when replacing the dull roll, which reduces productivity.

As a method for improving the above problems, for example, in Patent Document 1, when rolling a metal strip using a multiple rolling mill, the intermediate rolls are moved back and forth in the roll axis direction during rolling to prevent edge marks.

In addition, in Patent Document 2, metal strips are rolled from a wide metal strip to gradually narrower metal strips, and when rolling of the narrowest metal strip is completed, a high-roughness material is rolled.

Furthermore, in Patent Document 3, the surface of the rolling roll is blasted with shot grains or grit.

国際公開第2019/181832号International Publication No. 2019/181832 特開平9-122716号公報Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 9-122716 特開平3-5007号公報Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 3-5007

However, in the method described in Patent Document 1, when the metal strip is moved in the axial direction of the rolls, it becomes difficult to obtain a uniform reduction in the width direction of the metal strip, which may affect the surface properties of the steel sheet, such as the shape and roughness of the steel sheet.

The method described in Patent Document 1 is limited to a six-high rolling mill that has intermediate rolls and a shift function on the intermediate rolls. For this reason, there is a problem that it cannot be applied to a four-high rolling mill that does not have intermediate rolls. There is also a problem that it cannot be applied to six-high rolling mills that do not have a shift function on the intermediate rolls.

In the method described in Patent Document 2, it is not always possible to prepare a plentiful supply of high-roughness material. Therefore, if there is a shortage of high-roughness material, the number of times it can be applied is limited, which creates a problem that affects productivity.

The method described in Patent Document 3 requires a blasting device. Therefore, when applied to an existing rolling mill that is not equipped with a blasting device, there are problems in that high introduction costs are required and the maintenance load increases.

The present invention was made in consideration of the above problems, and aims to provide a method for temper rolling of metal strips that can suppress the formation of edge marks on work rolls while maintaining an appropriate surface roughness of the metal strip.

According to the metal strip temper rolling method of the present invention, by having a first installation step, a second installation step, and a pressure adjustment load setting step, it is possible to suppress the formation of edge marks on the work roll while maintaining an appropriate surface roughness of the metal strip.

The following describes an embodiment of the present invention with reference to the drawings. Figure 1 shows a metal strip temper rolling mill 100. The metal strip temper rolling mill 100 is disposed in a facility that performs continuous temper rolling.

As shown in FIG. 1, the metal strip temper rolling mill 100 has a rolling section 10 that rolls the metal strip SS, and a reduction device 20 that adjusts some of the rolling conditions of the rolling section 10. The metal strip SS is not particularly limited, but may be, for example, a steel plate manufactured for cans. The metal strip SS preferably has a width of, for example, 650 mm to 1100 mm. If the width is 650 mm or more, the occurrence of edge marks can be more effectively suppressed. If the width is 1100 mm or less, the roughness difference in the width direction can be further reduced.

The rolling section 10 has multiple rolling stands 11a, 11b arranged in one direction D1. In this embodiment, the one direction D1 is the same as the rolling direction (hereinafter also referred to as the pressure adjustment direction) in which the metal strip SS is rolled and transported. In addition, the number of rolling stands provided is not particularly limited as long as there is more than one, but in this embodiment, two rolling stands are provided.

Each rolling stand 11a, 11b includes a pair of work rolls 12a, 12b that are arranged vertically facing each other. The pair of work rolls 12a, 12b are supported by a pair of backup rolls 13a, 13b. The pair of work rolls 12a, 12b are arranged with a gap between them in the vertical direction.

The pair of work rolls 12a, 12b therefore come into contact with the metal strip SS, which is the material to be rolled, and apply pressure to the metal strip SS by passing it between them. The backup rolls 13a, 13b support the pair of work rolls 12a, 12b from above and below, suppressing deflection of the work rolls 12a, 12b. Each rolling stand 11a, 11b is not limited to the four-high rolling mill shown in FIG. 1, but may be a six-high rolling mill.

The roughness of the work rolls 12a, 12b of the rolling stand 11a arranged at the front stage in the first direction D1 is preferably 1.50 to 1.90 μm. The roughness of the work rolls 12a, 12b can be measured, for example, using a contact surface roughness measuring instrument as follows. In the work roll barrel, a surface roughness measuring instrument is installed at three locations, 200 mm from the center and both edges. The average Ra value of the three measurements at each width position is taken as the average Ra value at each width position. The average Ra value at each width position obtained above is then further averaged to determine the roughness of the work roll. As the contact surface roughness measuring instrument, for example, a small surface roughness measuring instrument (SURFTEST SJ-210 series SJ-210 (standard drive, 0.75 mN type): manufactured by Mitutoyo Corporation) can be used.

The roughness of the work rolls 12a, 12b of the rolling stand 11a arranged on the front stage side should be higher than the roughness of the work rolls 12a, 12b of the rolling stand 11b arranged on the rear stage side, which is the other rolling stand. For example, it is preferable that the roughness of the work rolls 12a, 12b of the rolling stand 11a arranged on the front stage side is 0.75 to 0.85 μm higher than the roughness of the work rolls 12a, 12b of the rolling stand 11b arranged on the rear stage side.

The roughness of the work rolls 12a, 12b can be set using the settings used for the surface roughness of the metal strip to be maintained, for example, when the metal strip is manufactured using an existing metal strip temper rolling mill 100. The following method can be used to set the roughness of the work rolls 12a, 12b.

When three or more rolling stands are installed, it is advisable to set the work roll of the frontmost rolling stand to the above roughness.

The reduction device 20 adjusts the spacing between the work rolls 12a, 12b of each rolling stand 11a, 11b, i.e., the roll gap, so that the rolling load applied to the metal strip SS is a predetermined value. Therefore, the metal strip SS is given the predetermined reduction adjusted by the reduction device 20 as it passes between the work rolls 12a, 12b of each rolling stand 11a, 11b. The reduction device 20 can individually adjust the roll gaps of the work rolls 12a, 12b of each rolling stand 11a, 11b.

The reduction device 20 sets the pressure adjustment load of one rolling stand 11a located upstream in one direction D1 higher than that of another rolling stand 11b located downstream of the one rolling stand 11a in one direction D1. In other words, the reduction device 20 functions as a rolling load setting means.

Figure 2 shows the distribution of pressure regulation loads applied to a metal strip. Figure 2(a) shows a mode in which a metal strip is rolled using a work roll with a higher crown than the work roll shown in Figure 2(b). Figure 2(b) shows a mode in which a metal strip is rolled using a work roll with a lower crown than the work roll shown in Figure 2(a). In this embodiment, the crown is explained as meaning a so-called convex crown that protrudes outward from the axis of the work roll.

As shown in Figures 2(a) and (b), the pressure adjustment load decreases from the center to the ends in the width direction of the metal strip. This tendency is more pronounced in the embodiment shown in Figure 2(a), where the crown of the work roll is higher.

Figure 3 shows the surface roughness in the width direction of the metal strip. More specifically, Figure 3 shows the surface roughness in the width direction of the metal strip when the load and work roll crown of the rolling stand 11a arranged on the front stage and the load of the rolling stand 11b arranged on the rear stage are not changed, and the work roll crown of the rolling stand 11b arranged on the rear stage is changed. As shown in Figure 3, the surface roughness increases in the width direction of the metal strip from the center side toward the cab side and the opposite side of the cab, which are the ends in the width direction. This tendency is more noticeable in the aspect where the crown of the work roll of the rolling stand 11b arranged on the rear stage is higher.

In the rolling stands 11a and 11b, the crown of the work roll of the rolling stand 11b located on the rear stage is set lower than the crown of the work roll of the rolling stand 11a located on the front stage. The crown of the work roll of the rolling stand 11b located on the rear stage is set to 5/100 mm or less. By setting the crown of the work roll of the rolling stand 11b on the rear stage in this way, the pressure adjustment load applied to the edge portion of the metal strip SS can be increased, and the roughness in the pressure adjustment direction can be made appropriate.

When three or more rolling stands are installed, it is advisable to set the crown of the work roll of the rolling stand installed at the last stage to 5/100 mm or less. The crown of the work roll can be measured by using a caliper gauge to determine the difference in work roll diameter between the center part and the outermost edge part of the work roll.

A method for producing a metal strip using the above-described temper rolling mill 100 for the metal strip will be described. FIG. 4 shows a flow diagram for producing a metal strip. As shown in FIG. 4,
A first installation step is performed by installing a work roll having a roughness of 1.50 to 1.90 μm in the front-stage rolling stand 11a (step S101).

Then, the second installation step is performed by installing the work roll with a crown of 5/100 mm or less in the rolling stand 11b arranged on the rear side (step S102). Note that the first installation step of step S101 and the second installation step of step S102 may be performed in any order, or may be performed simultaneously.

Furthermore, the pressure adjustment load of the front-stage rolling stand 11a is set higher than the pressure adjustment load of the rear-stage rolling stand 11b. More specifically, after the first installation step of step S101 and the second installation step of step S102 are performed, a first pressure adjustment load setting step is executed to set the pressure adjustment load of the front-stage rolling stand 11a to a first set load (step S103). The first set load is a load lower than the pressure adjustment load of the other rolling stand, the rear-stage rolling stand 11b. In addition, the first set load is preferably set to 0.50 to 0.70 x 10 kN/mm.

After the first installation step of step S101, the second installation step of step S102, and the pressure adjustment load setting step of step S103 are performed, the rolling step is performed by rolling the metal strip with the metal strip temper rolling mill 100 (step S104).

When the rolling step of step S104 is executed, it is determined whether the first coil of the metal strip being rolled has been completed since the first pressure adjustment load setting step of step S103 was executed (step S105). That is, if the coil of the metal strip being rolled is the first coil (step S105: NO), the rolling step of step S104 is continued while maintaining the first set load.

When the first coil is finished after the first pressure adjustment load setting step is executed (step S105: YES), the pressure adjustment load of the rolling stand 11a arranged on the front side is set to a second set load that is higher than the first set load. The second set load is a load that is lower than the pressure adjustment load of the other rolling stand, the rolling stand 11b on the rear side. It is more preferable that the second set load is set to 0.60 to 0.95 x 10 kN/mm.

After the second pressure adjustment load setting step of step S106 is performed, the rolling step is performed by rolling the metal strip with the metal strip temper rolling mill 100 (step S107).

As described above, the metal strip temper rolling method of the present invention includes a first installation step, a second installation step, a first pressure adjustment load setting step, and a second pressure adjustment load setting step. This makes it possible to suppress the formation of edge marks on the work rolls 12a and 12b while maintaining an appropriate surface roughness of the metal strip.

In this embodiment, the second pressure adjustment load setting step is executed when the first coil is completed after the first pressure adjustment load setting step is executed. However, the second pressure adjustment load setting step is not limited to this mode, and may be executed at any timing.

(Test Example 1)
A metal strip was produced using an existing temper rolling mill for metal strip. The temper rolling mill used was a four-high temper rolling mill consisting of two rolling stands. Of the two rolling stands, the rolling stand arranged on the upstream side in the direction of pressure adjustment is referred to as the front-stage rolling stand, and the rolling stand arranged on the downstream side is referred to as the rear-stage rolling stand. Table 1 shows the pressure adjustment load and the work roll conditions. In Table 1 and in the following descriptions, "target" refers to a target value measured in an actual measurement. The numerical range listed following "target" refers to a setting value, physical property value, etc. set in the machine, etc. so as to obtain the "target" numerical value.

Figure 2025078022000002
Figure 2025078022000002

Below, the conditions before the settings were changed for the existing metal strip temper rolling mill are described as the conventional conditions. Under the conventional conditions, the pressure adjustment load of the front-stage rolling stand was set to a target of 1.00 x 10 kN/mm. In this test, the pressure adjustment load of the front-stage rolling stand was set to 0.80 x 10 kN/mm.

Setting the pressure adjustment load low may result in a decrease in the roughness of the metal strip. To suppress the decrease in roughness of the metal strip, the roughness of the work rolls in the front-stage rolling stand was set higher than the conventional conditions. The roughness of the work rolls in the front-stage rolling stand was determined as follows:

(Step 1) Under conventional conditions, the transfer rate was defined as the mill exit surface roughness of the first coil for stress adjustment relative to the roughness of the work roll of the rolling stand on the upstream side. In other words, it was calculated as transfer rate (%) = steel sheet roughness of the first coil for stress adjustment (μm) / work roll roughness (μm). The transfer rates in the rolling direction and width direction of the metal strip were calculated. The roughness of the work roll of the rolling stand on the upstream side under conventional conditions was 1.20 to 1.50 μm.
(Step 2) It can be assumed that the surface roughness of the metal strip depends on the pressure load of the rolling stand on the upstream side and the roughness of the work rolls, if the pressure load of the rolling stand on the downstream side and the roll conditions are not changed from the conventional conditions. Based on this assumption, the correlation coefficient between the pressure load of the rolling stand on the upstream side and the transfer rate was calculated.
(Step 3) From the correlation coefficient calculated in (Step 2) and the pressure adjustment of the upstream rolling stand, the roughness of the work roll was calculated so as to satisfy the surface roughness standard described later.

As a result of the above procedure, the roughness of the work rolls in the front-stage rolling stand was set at 1.70 μm (1.50 to 1.90).

(Evaluation of metal strip roughness)
The surface roughness of metal strips manufactured under the conditions shown in Table 1 was evaluated. The surface roughness of the metal strip was evaluated at three measurement positions in the width direction. The surface roughness was measured at the edge on the cab side, the center position, and the edge on the opposite side of the cab. The surface roughness was evaluated based on the surface roughness of metal strips manufactured under conventional conditions. Standards were set for the surface roughness in the pressure adjustment direction and the width direction.

The roughness difference between the center and edge of the metal strip was also evaluated. Standards were set for the roughness difference in the pressure adjustment direction and the width direction. The respective standards are shown in Table 2. These standards were set based on the results of previous conditions. Furthermore, the results of the evaluation based on the standards in Table 2 are shown in Table 3. In Table 3, "◯" indicates that the standard is met, and "×" indicates that the standard is not met. Furthermore, the pressure adjustment distance indicates the total pressure adjustment distance from when the work roll is replaced with a new one until the work roll is replaced again.

Figure 2025078022000003

Figure 2025078022000004
Figure 2025078022000004

As shown in Table 3, the surface roughness in the width direction met the standard at all measurement positions. In contrast, the surface roughness in the pressure adjustment direction did not meet the standard because it exceeded the standard at a pressure adjustment distance of 0 km, i.e., the first coil that was temper rolled after the work rolls were changed.

In addition, the roughness difference in the width direction met the standard, but the roughness difference in the pressure adjustment direction was less than 100 km, and the roughness of the edges was higher than that of the center, so the standard was not met.

The above tests showed that simply adjusting the pressure adjustment load and the roughness of the work rolls did not result in a metal strip roughness or roughness difference equivalent to that of conventional conditions. In particular, it appears that the surface roughness at the edge of the metal strip does not meet the standard.

(Test Example 2: Setting of Work Roll Crown)
Based on the results of Test Example 1, the crown of the work roll of the rear rolling stand was set. Table 4 shows the pressure adjustment load and work roll conditions. The load of the front rolling stand for the first pressure adjustment coil only was targeted at 0.70 x 10 kN/mm, and from the second coil onwards, it was targeted at 0.80 x 10 kN/mm. The crown of the work roll of the rear rolling stand was set at 5/100 mm.

Figure 2025078022000005
Figure 2025078022000005

The surface roughness and the difference in roughness between the center and the edge were evaluated in the same manner as in Test Example 1. The results are shown in Table 5. The evaluation criteria were the same as in Test Example 1.

Figure 2025078022000006
Figure 2025078022000006

In the comparative example of Test Example 1, the surface roughness of the first tension adjustment coil after the work rolls were replaced and the roughness difference in the tension adjustment direction did not meet the standards. In contrast, in the working example, these evaluations also met the standards, and it was found that a product with a surface roughness equivalent to that under conventional conditions could be manufactured. In addition, in the working example, not only the surface roughness but also the gloss and color tone were evaluated and confirmed to be equivalent to that under conventional conditions.

(Edge mark evaluation)
In addition, the edge mark suppression effect was compared under the conditions of Test Example 2 with the conventional conditions. The results of the edge mark suppression effect are shown in Figure 5. As shown in Figure 5, the edge mark occurrence rate of the example was reduced by 73.1% compared to Comparative Example 2 in which the metal strip was produced under the conventional conditions.

In this way, it was found that by adjusting the pressure adjustment load and the roughness of the work rolls of the front-stage rolling stand, and by adjusting the crown of the work rolls of the rear-stage rolling stand, it is possible to suppress the formation of edge marks while maintaining the surface roughness of the metal strip.
