Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an organic electroluminescence element.
A phenomenon in which light is emitted by applying a voltage to an organic substance is called organic electroluminescence (hereinafter also referred to as “organic EL”), and an element that generates organic EL is called an organic EL element. The organic EL element includes a single-layer or multilayer light-emitting layer containing an organic light-emitting substance (“organic EL layer”, “organic functional layer”, “organic thin film layer”, “organic light-emitting substance-containing layer”, “organic light-emitting layer” And so on) between the anode and the cathode. When a voltage is applied to the organic EL element, electrons are injected from the cathode into the light emitting layer and holes are injected from the anode, and these are recombined in the light emitting layer to generate excitons. The organic EL element emits light by utilizing light emission (fluorescence / phosphorescence) from the excitons generated in this way.
In recent years, establishment of a technique for realizing high light extraction efficiency has been demanded in order to improve the light emission efficiency of organic EL elements. For example,

Furthermore,

Here, it is generally known that the organic functional layer of the organic EL element is vulnerable to oxygen and moisture and does not emit light when contacted with these. Therefore, the organic EL element is provided with a protective film that protects the organic functional layer from oxygen and moisture.

When unevenness occurs in the inorganic film as described above, for example, when a crack occurs in the uneven valley portion of the inorganic film, the barrier property cannot be maintained, and oxygen and moisture enter the organic functional layer from here. There were times when it stopped emitting light.

(Light extraction structure)
In general, an organic EL element emits light inside a layer having a refractive index higher than that of air (refractive index is about 1.7 to 2.1), and the organic

Here, X and X ′ each independently have at least one of the structures of the following formulas (1) to (7).
Y is a divalent group having at least one S atom and one aromatic ring.
Specifically, for example, Y represents —R—R′—, —R—S—R′—, —R—S (O) —R′—, and —R—S (O) 2 —R. Wherein R and R ′ are each independently any one of the structures of the following formulas (8) to (12).
However, when Y is -R-R'-, at least one of R and R 'is the following formula (12).
In the present embodiment, the high refractive index
Here, the ratio of the number of S atoms contained in Y in the component having the structure of XYX ′ is preferably 2 to 30% with respect to the number of C atoms contained in Y.
If the ratio of the number of S atoms contained in Y is 2% or more with respect to the number of C atoms contained in Y, the refractive index is further improved. More preferably, it is 5% or more. Further, if the ratio of the number of S atoms contained in Y is 30% or less with respect to the number of C atoms contained in Y, the degree of yellowing is reduced. More preferably, it is 25% or less.
Further, the ratio of the number of C atoms in the aromatic ring contained in Y in the component having the structure of XYX ′ is 50 to 80% with respect to the number of atoms of other elements in the aromatic ring contained in Y. It is preferable.
If the ratio of the number of C atoms in the aromatic ring contained in Y is 50% or more with respect to the number of atoms of other elements in the aromatic ring contained in Y, the refractive index is further improved. More preferably, it is 55% or more. Moreover, if the ratio of the number of C atoms in the aromatic ring contained in Y is 80% or less with respect to the atomic weight of other elements in the aromatic ring contained in Y, the stability of the material is further improved. More preferably, it is 70% or less.
When the high refractive index
Here, the fine particles refer to particles having an average particle diameter of 50 to 500 nm. In the present embodiment, the average particle size is preferably 50 to 300 nm.
The average particle diameter in this embodiment can be measured by image processing of an electron micrograph. For example, a particle is photographed at a magnification of 100,000, and the length of the long side of the particle is measured from the image. And what took the average for 100 particle | grains is made into the average particle diameter of particle | grains.
The high refractive index
The uneven distribution of the high refractive index
Here, the particle existence volume ratio is the volume of the high refractive index
The particle volume ratio is calculated by creating a cross section of the first
The particle existing volume ratio on the
As described above, the spherical high refractive index
In addition, as the particle existing volume ratio on the
In the first
The role of the high refractive index
The refractive index difference | nb−np | between the refractive index nb of the high
In order to increase the refractive index difference | nb−np |, the refractive index np of the high refractive index

Next, matters other than those described above will be described with respect to the high refractive index

As described above, it is preferable that the first
The aspect ratio here is the ratio of the major axis length to the minor axis length [major axis length / single axis length] of the high refractive index

Examples of organic fine particles having a high refractive index include polymethyl methacrylate beads, acrylic-styrene copolymer beads, melamine beads, polycarbonate beads, styrene beads, crosslinked polystyrene beads, polyvinyl chloride beads, benzoguanamine-melamine formaldehyde beads.

As other resin components, known binders can be used without particular limitation. Moreover, the other resin component can also be used in mixture of multiple types.

Etc. can be used.

Moreover, as for the uneven | corrugated layer 21i, it is preferable that the height A in the convex part of the above-mentioned uneven structure is 10-2000 nm, and it is more preferable that it is 10-1000 nm. In addition, this height A means the height from the recessed part of an uneven structure, as shown in FIG.
Moreover, it is preferable that the thickness B of the recessed part of the uneven | corrugated layer 21i is 10-1000 nm. It is preferable that the pitch of the convex part of the uneven | corrugated layer 21i is 100-2000 nm. In addition, this thickness B means the thickness from one surface in the recessed part of the uneven structure of the uneven | corrugated layer 21i to the other surface, as shown in FIG.
When the concavo-convex structure of the concavo-convex layer 21i is within the above range, light that is normally confined in the organic functional layer and the transparent electrode can be favorably extracted. In the concavo-convex layer 21i, the thickness A of the convex portions, the pitch of the convex portions, and the like can be appropriately set depending on the optical design. Note that it is preferable to reduce the amount of the portion other than the convex portion having a large optical influence because the amount of outgas generated from the uneven layer 21i can be suppressed. In this respect, the average thickness of the uneven layer 21i is preferably 100 to 2500 nm.
The concavo-convex layer 21i may be arranged two-dimensionally in a plan view, such as a square lattice, a triangular lattice, or a honeycomb lattice, or may have a general diffraction grating structure. . Moreover, it is preferable that the uneven | corrugated layer 21i has a two-dimensional periodic refractive index.

Examples of the inorganic material include a sol container containing a metal material such as a metal alkoxide when a transparent inorganic layer is formed by a sol-gel method. Thus, although the uneven | corrugated layer 21i may be the resin layer using the said organic material, and may be the inorganic layer formed using the said inorganic material, it is suitable for the production by nanoimprint technology. Therefore, it is preferable to use an organic material.

Further, in film formation using a dry process, since a very small amount of gas other than the introduced gas is present, it is rare that the component becomes as stoichiometric. Specifically, Si 3 N 4 is the stoichiometric representative value, but there is a certain ratio of width in an actual film, and these are included and handled as SiN. The above-mentioned atomic ratio can be determined by a conventionally known method, and can be measured by, for example, an analyzer using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
The film density of the inorganic
Here, ammonia (NH 3 ) gas is used to form the inorganic
That is, the low-density inorganic protective layer 6 (for example, the second inorganic
Note that the gas phase reaction and surface reaction in the CVD film formation are controlled by, for example, the base material temperature and the gas pressure in the film formation atmosphere in addition to the above-described flow rate of the source gas. At this time, for example, the gas phase reaction increases by lowering the substrate temperature, increasing the gas pressure in the film formation atmosphere, or increasing the concentration of the N 2 gas by introducing N 2 gas. The film formation speed increases and the film density decreases.

After storage in the same manner as <DS after storage>, current values were measured and evaluated in the same manner as <rectification ratio before storage>. An evaluation score of 3 points or more was accepted and 2 points or less were rejected.
Each evaluation result is shown in Table 2.
As shown in Table 1, no. Since the organic EL elements according to 1 to 7 and 43 do not have an inorganic protective layer, the barrier property is low, and the pre-storage DS, post-storage DS, pre-storage rectification ratio, and post-storage rectification ratio are low ( All are comparative examples). Furthermore, no. Since the organic EL device according to 43 does not have a light extraction structure, the light extraction property was also evaluated to be low.
No. Since all of the organic EL elements according to 8 to 42 used a transparent resin-made flexible base material, the organic EL elements had high flexibility and had an inorganic protective layer. The pre-DS, the post-storage DS, the pre-storage rectification ratio, and the post-storage rectification ratio were highly evaluated. Further, since the light extraction structure was provided, the light extraction performance was also highly evaluated (all examples).
Among these, No. In the organic EL elements according to 34 to 42, since the inorganic protective layer is formed of three layers having different film densities, the barrier property is higher, DS before storage, DS after storage, rectification ratio before storage, rectification ratio after storage. Became a higher evaluation.
In particular, no. In the organic EL elements according to 36 to 42, the intermediate layer located in the middle of the three inorganic protective layers has the lowest film density, so that the barrier property is further higher, DS before storage, DS after storage, before storage The rectification ratio and the rectification ratio after storage were even higher.
