Description
The present invention relates to a fuel injector.
A fuel injector of this kind is known from the applicant's patent document 1. This known fuel injector has on the combustion chamber side of the internal combustion engine a sealing element that radially surrounds the injector housing of the fuel injector, the sealing element being similar to the injector housing for positioning the sealing element. It is fixed to the sleeve that surrounds it in the radial direction. The sleeve is mounted on the support surface of the receiving hole of the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine, with an edge extending so as to circulate in a radial direction in a flange shape. This known sealing element is used to avoid condensate reaching the ring-shaped region between the receiving hole and the fuel injector opposite to the combustion chamber.
Furthermore, from Patent Document 2, a fuel injector is known in which the combustion chamber side includes a coating portion on the outer surface of the injector housing. The coating portion is disposed or formed at least in the end region near the combustion chamber of the injector housing. The coating may be made of a different material, which has either a better or worse thermal conductivity than the material of the injector housing.
Furthermore, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2004-151620 discloses a fuel injector for an internal combustion engine in which a combustion chamber side portion of an injector housing is surrounded by a sleeve. However, the sleeves known from this document are used exclusively for improving the strength of the injector housing.
The trend in fuel injection systems is shifting to higher system pressures for reasons of efficiency and pollution. Along with this, the power density becomes higher both when the engine is operated and when the brake is operated, so that the internal combustion engine combustion chamber side end region of the fuel injector is thermally more strongly loaded. In this end region, a seating region important for function is arranged between the nozzle body and the nozzle needle on the inner surface of the injector housing. As mentioned above, the system pressure tends to be higher, and therefore the temperature in the end region of the fuel injector tends to be higher, thus increasing the thermal mechanical load of the fuel injector in the end region. Will tend to. Therefore, limit the temperature rise in the injector end region (here, the region located on the combustion chamber side of the internal combustion engine) or as good as possible from the injector end region to the cylinder block Treatment that allows for proper heat transfer is desirable. In addition, the internal combustion engine combustion chamber side region of the fuel injector, which is disposed in the receiving hole of the cylinder head, is disposed in the receiving hole at a radial interval, so that direct contact of this region is achieved. It should be recognized that it is also important that heat transfer by contact is not normally possible. Thus, in the case of fuel injectors known from the state of the art, the heat flow is from the injector end region to a seating or mounting region in the stepped hole-like portion of the receiving hole over a part of the length of the injector housing. In which the fuel injector is clamped and fixed in the axial direction by a cylinder head, usually under an intermediate layer of a metal sealing element.
Starting from the above-mentioned technical level, the object of the present invention is to configure the fuel injector according to the preamble of claim 1 as follows, that is, to reduce the thermal load in the injector region on the combustion chamber side. It is constituted so that it becomes.
According to the present invention, in the fuel injector having the configuration of claim 1, the first sealing element on the combustion chamber side is disposed between the injector housing and the second contact surface of the receiving hole. Axially tensionable and configured to seal the ring-shaped region between the injector housing and the receiving hole on the opposite side of the first sealing element from the first region of the injector housing. It is solved by being. This type of arrangement is, in the most general form of the invention, a ring-shaped region between the injector housing and the receiving hole in the cylinder head on the side of the first sealing element opposite the combustion chamber. Enables heat shielding. Thereby, the relatively high-temperature combustion gas generated in the combustion chamber is prevented from reaching the seating region of the fuel injector in the receiving hole in the axial direction. On the other hand, this reduces the heat load in the region of the injector housing that is critical for heat transfer to the second sealing element, and thus in the combustion chamber side end region of the injector housing, in particular in the dome-shaped end region. The heat radiation to the first seating surface of the receiving hole can be improved. This sealing is made possible via the second seating surface of the receiving hole, the second seating surface being arranged to abut directly against the first sealing element at the fuel injector mounting position; Thus, the ring-shaped region above the first sealing element is sealed.
Advantageous further configurations of the fuel injector according to the invention are described in the dependent claims.
In a first structural configuration, which can be realized in a particularly concise manner and allows the desired sealing function using standard components, the first sealing element is formed in a ring shape, and It is proposed to abut the transition region between the first region and the second region of the injector housing in the axial direction.
In an alternative configuration, the first sealing element is formed in a ring shape with a conical cross section and abuts between the two conical surfaces of the injector housing and the receiving hole. It is also possible. Such a configuration allows in particular a relatively large area of contact or sealing surface, so that a relatively small axial clamping force is already sufficient to obtain a particularly good sealing performance. There is an advantage.
Of particular advantage, in the last two embodiments mentioned, the first sealing element is made of plastic and / or metal and is configured to be received with little radial play into the receiving hole of the cylinder head. And the case where the second sealing element is made of a metal, preferably a material having excellent thermal conductivity, and is formed in a ring shape. Such an arrangement in particular allows a relatively easy assembly of the fuel injector and the desired or necessary heat from the fuel injector into the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine via the second sealing element made of metal. Guarantees conduction. Besides the first sealing element consisting purely of metal or plastic, the first sealing element may consist of, for example, a metal core, which is covered with a coating part made of plastic or rubber, among others.
Also, for reasons of facilitating assembly as much as possible and for reasons of component tolerances, the injector housing has the following diameter in the first region and the second region: Significantly, the diameter is such that a radial gap can be formed in the outer region of the first sealing element between these two regions of the housing and the receiving hole.
The embodiment described above utilizes two separate sealing elements that are realized by separate components. In a variant embodiment of the invention, it is also conceivable or possible that both sealing elements are formed in one piece in the form of a packing sleeve made of metal. This type of configuration allows a particularly simple and reliable assembly of the fuel injector.
If both sealing elements are configured in the form of a single packing sleeve, in a structurally advantageous configuration, the first sealing element is formed as a conical wall portion of the packing sleeve. This type of arrangement allows a large area of the ring-shaped space formed above the first sealing element to be sealed between the packing sleeve and the receiving hole in the cylinder head. In particular, the wall portion forms the end region of the packing sleeve on the combustion chamber side of the cylinder head.
According to a further advantageous configuration of the invention, which allows for particularly easy assembly or component-free tolerances for the dimensioning of the packing sleeve and good heat conduction from the injector housing into the cylinder head, The sleeve is radially spaced from the injector housing except in the region of the first sealing element, and has a diameter such that the packing sleeve can be positioned in thermal contact with the receiving hole. doing.
Further advantages, configurations and details of the invention are apparent from the following description and drawings relating to some advantageous embodiments.
In the figure, the same reference numerals are assigned to the same elements or elements having the same functions.
In the figure, a partial region of the
The
The
The
In the transition area between the two
In addition to the function of sealing the second
During operation of the
The
The
The
