Abstract
Description
低屈折有機層は、有機化合物を含む層であり、例えば、屈折率が1.7以下、1.7未満、1.68以下、1.66以下、1.65以下、1.63以下、1.60以下、1.55以下または1.52以下の層であることができる。前記で低屈折有機層の屈折率の下限は、特に制限されず、例えば、前記低屈折有機層は、0.5以上または0.7以上の屈折率を有することができる。
発光層は、例えば、この分野に公知された多様な蛍光または燐光有機材料を使用して形成することができる。発光層は、また、前述した電子受容性有機化合物や後述する電子供与性有機化合物のうち発光特性を示す種類を適切に採用して形成することができる。
テトラメトキシシラン10gに屈折率が約1.52の高分子ビーズ(XX75BO、平均直径:約3μm、Sekisui製)1gを充分に分散させてゾルゲルコーティング液を製造した。次に、製造されたコーティング液をガラス基板にコーティングし、ゾルゲル反応を進行させて散乱層を形成した。その後、同様にテトラメトキシシランを含むゾルゲルコーティング液に平均粒径が約10nmであり、屈折率が約2.5程度である高屈折酸化チタン粒子を配合した高屈折コーティング液を散乱層の上部にコーティングした後に、同様にゾルゲル反応を進行し、屈折率が約1.8程度の平坦層を形成した。その後、形成された層にレーザーを照射し、残存する光散乱層と平坦層の位置が引き続いて形成される有機層の発光領域に対応し得るように前記光散乱層と平坦層の一部を除去した。除去後に公知のスパッタリング方式でITO(Indium Tin Oxide)を含む正孔注入性電極層を前記ガラス基板の全面に予め定められた厚さで形成した。次に、公知の蒸着方式を通じてアルファ−NPD(N,N'−Di−[(1−naphthyl)−N,N'−diphenyl]−1,1' −biphenyl)−4,4'−diamine)を含む正孔注入層及び発光層(4,4',4"−tris(N−carbazolyl)−triphenylamine(TCTA):Firpic、TCTA:Fir6)を順次形成した。次に、前記発光層の上部に電子輸送性化合物であるTCTA(4,4',4"−tris(N−carbazolyl)−triphenylamine)及び低屈折材料であるLiF(屈折率:約1.39)を全体層の屈折率が1.66程度となるように共蒸着し、低屈折有機層を約70nmの厚さで形成した。次に、電子注入性反射電極としてアルミニウム(Al)電極を真空蒸着方式で前記低屈折有機層の上部に形成し、素子を製造した。次に、Arガス雰囲気のグローブボックスで前記素子に封止構造を付着し、装置を製造した。その後、装置を空気中に取り出し、積分半球で電流密度が3mAcm−2であるときの電圧−電流特性、輝度と効率などを測定した。一方、前記で屈折率は、Nanoview社のellipsometerを使用して約550nmの波長で測定した数値である。
発光層上に低屈折有機層を形成せず、電子輸送性化合物であるTCTA(4,4',4"−tris(N−carbazolyl)−triphenylamine)だけの層を約70nmの厚さで形成したことを除いて、実施例1と同様に有機発光素子を製造した。
散乱層と平坦層を形成しないことを除いて、実施例1と同様に有機発光素子を製造した。
散乱層と平坦層を形成せず、また発光層上に低屈折有機層を形成しない代わりに、電子輸送性化合物であるTCTA(4,4',4"−tris(N−carbazolyl)−triphenylamine)だけの層を約70nmの厚さで形成したことを除いて、実施例1と同様に有機発光素子を製造した。
発光層上に低屈折有機層を形成せず、電子輸送性化合物であるTCTA(4,4',4"−tris(N−carbazolyl)−triphenylamine)及び屈折率が約1.79の酸化イットリウム(Y2O3)の共蒸着層を約70nmの厚さで形成したことを除いて、実施例1と同様に有機発光素子を製造した。
発光層上に低屈折有機層を形成せず、電子輸送性化合物であるTCTA(4,4',4"−tris(N−carbazolyl)−triphenylamine)だけの層を約20nmの厚さで形成したことを除いて、実施例1と同様に有機発光素子を製造した。

Claims (20)
- 電子注入性電極層と正孔注入性電極層と;前記電子注入性電極層と正孔注入性電極層との間に存在し、屈折率が1.7以下の低屈折有機層及び発光層を含む有機積層構造と;前記正孔注入性電極層または電子注入性電極層の前記有機積層構造に隣接する面とは反対側面に当接するかまたは隣接して形成されている散乱層と;を含む有機発光素子。
- 基材層をさらに含み、前記正孔注入性電極層、前記有機積層構造及び前記電子注入性電極層が前記基材層上に順に形成されている、請求項1に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記散乱層が前記正孔注入性電極層と前記基材層との間に存在する、請求項2に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記正孔注入性電極層が透明電極層であり、前記電子注入性電極層が反射電極層である、請求項2または3に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記低屈折有機層は、電子受容性有機化合物を含む、請求項2から4の何れか一項に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記低屈折有機層は、前記電子注入性電極層と当接して形成されている、請求項5に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記低屈折有機層は、屈折率が1.66以下の低屈折材料を含む、請求項1から6の何れか一項に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記低屈折材料は、フッ化リチウム(LiF)、フッ化マグネシウム(MgF2)、フッ化カリウム(KF)、フッ化ナトリウム(NaF)、フッ化アルミニウム(AlF2)、フッ化バリウム(BaF2)、フッ化ベリリウム(BeF2)、フッ化カドミウム(CdF2)、フッ化カルシウム(CaF2)、フッ化セシウム(CsF)、フッ化トリウム(ThF4)、フッ化イットリウム(YF3)、塩化鉄(FeCl2)、酸化バナジウム(V2O5)またはNa2Al3F14リン(Chiolote)である、請求項7に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記低屈折有機層は、5〜200%の前記低屈折材料を含む、請求項7または8に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記低屈折有機層は、厚さが15nm以上である、請求項1から9の何れか一項に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記散乱層は、屈折率が1.0〜3.5であり、平均粒径が50nm〜20,000nmである散乱粒子を含む、請求項1から10の何れか一項に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記散乱層は、凹凸構造を含む、請求項1から11の何れか一項に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記散乱層の上部に形成されている平坦層をさらに含む、請求項1から11の何れか一項に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記平坦層は、屈折率が1.8〜3.5である、請求項13に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記平坦層は、平均粒径が1nm〜100nmの高屈折粒子を含む、請求項13または14に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記高屈折粒子は、ルチル型酸化チタンである、請求項15に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記散乱層の投影面積は、前記正孔注入性電極層の投影面積に比べて小さく、前記正孔注入性電極層は、前記散乱層の上部及び前記散乱層が形成されていない前記基材層の上部の両方に形成されている、請求項3に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記有機積層構造と前記電子注入性電極層を保護する封止構造をさらに含み、前記封止構造は、下部に前記散乱層が形成されていない前記正孔注入性電極層の上部に付着している、請求項17に記載の有機発光素子。
- 前記封止構造は、ガラスカンまたは金属カンであるか、または前記有機積層構造と前記電子注入性電極層の全面を覆っているフィルムである、請求項18に記載の有機発光素子。
- 請求項1から19の何れか一項に記載の有機発光素子を含む照明。
