Description

The present invention relates to an apparatus for inspecting an end face of a laminated sheet material, and more particularly to an apparatus for inspecting a cut surface after cutting a secondary battery electrode sheet.

In recent years, as electronic devices such as notebook computers, mobile phones, and digital cameras have become smaller, lighter, and cordless, the drive power source has become smaller, lighter, has higher energy density, and is a sealed secondary that can be repeatedly charged and discharged. Batteries are prevalent. In addition, a large-sized secondary battery is also becoming popular as a driving power source for automobiles in consideration of the environment. The secondary battery has various shapes such as a coin shape, a cylindrical shape, a box shape, and an oval shape.

Furthermore, in the case of a large battery used as a battery for a vehicle such as an automobile or a train, a positive electrode plate is better than a roll-up structure used for a cylindrical battery in terms of battery performance and productivity. Use a rectangular battery rather than a cylindrical one because the structure in which the negative electrode plate and the negative electrode plate are alternately stacked is more suitable, and the space where the battery is installed is more efficient. Has been proposed (for example, Patent Document 1).

In addition, in the case of a secondary battery having a laminated structure, a thin plate or sheet material used as an electrode for a positive electrode and a negative electrode is an electrode material (hereinafter referred to as an active material) made of a carbon material or a material called an active material on the front and back surfaces of a metal foil Etc.) are applied and dried (so-called coating), and each electrode material is formed by alternately laminating positive and negative electrodes, and an insulating sheet material called a separator between the positive and negative electrode materials. Is sandwiched between.

In the case of the laminated structure described above, each of the electrode plates is manufactured by cutting a sheet material into a predetermined shape with a cutter or the like. During this cutting, an elongated burr with a sharp tip may be formed on the cut end surface of the electrode plate. Although such burrs are generally minute, if such burrs are formed so as to protrude in the stacking direction, the negative electrode material that penetrates the stacked separator and faces the positive electrode material is electrically connected. This may lead to a short circuit failure of the battery. For this reason, it is necessary to inspect for the presence of burrs on the cut surface of the sheet material, which is performed using various apparatuses (for example, Patent Document 2).

On the other hand, although not intended for detecting burrs, there is an apparatus for inspecting the number of laminated electrode plates by observing a laminate of a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate and a separator of a battery from a cross-sectional direction (for example, Patent Document 3). In this embodiment, the cross section of the laminated electrode plate is inspected by irradiating light from the side oblique direction and observing from the oblique direction so that uniform light is emitted obliquely.

Most of the burrs that may penetrate the separator are present in the cut portion when the sheet material is cut. Such a burr has a tip portion extending to the surface layer of the active material or the like, but is often buried in a coated active material or the like, or the burr itself is very small. Therefore, in the case of a form requiring mechanical contact as in Patent Document 2, reliable detection cannot be performed.

On the other hand, when performing non-contact type observation as in Patent Document 3, as shown in FIG. 6, a mode in which light is irradiated at an irradiation angle β1 from an oblique side direction and observed at an observation angle β2 from an oblique side direction. Then, as shown in FIG. 7, even if the irradiation angle β1 and the observation angle β2 are adjusted, the surface of the core material, an active material that is a material having a low surface reflectance laminated on both surfaces of the core material, and the background image The brightness did not change much.
Also, if the brightness of the illumination is changed, the brightness of the background image and the active material, which is a material having a low surface reflectance laminated on both surfaces of the core material, and the background image may become brighter overall. Overall, it became dark and no improvement in contrast was observed.
Therefore, the detection accuracy of burrs is not improved, and it is difficult to detect minute burrs buried in the active material.

Therefore, the present invention inspects the end face of the laminated sheet material by detecting even the minute protrusions of the core material between the core material and the material having low surface reflectance laminated on both surfaces thereof with high accuracy. It is an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus for detecting a minute core material burr buried in an active material or the like on a cut surface of a sheet material for a secondary battery electrode with high accuracy.

The light source unit 3 includes a first light source unit 3a and a second light source unit 3b. The first light source unit 3a includes a housing 31a and a light emitting unit 32a incorporated in the housing 31a. A light amount adjustment unit 33a is connected to the light emitting unit 32a and adjusts the amount of light emitted from the light emitting unit 32a. Similarly, the second light source unit 3b includes a housing 31b, a light emitting unit 32b incorporated in the housing 31b, and a light amount that is connected to the light emitting unit 32b and adjusts the amount of light emitted from the light emitting unit 32b. And an adjustment unit 33b.

The light emission part 32a of the 1st light source part 3a has predetermined length in the ridgeline direction of the end surface 10e of laminated sheet material. The light emitted from the light emitting unit 32a is emitted from the first main surface 10a side toward the observation region 10v of the end surface 10e of the laminated sheet material around the irradiation optical axis 35a. At this time, the irradiation optical axis 35a of the light emitted from the light emitting unit 32a is in the same direction as the perpendicular 15v to the observation region and the observation optical axis 25 when viewed in plan as shown in FIG. On the other hand, when viewed from the side as shown in FIG. 1B, the irradiation optical axis 35a of the light emitted from the light emitting portion 32a is incident on the perpendicular 15v to the observation region from the first main surface 10a side. An angle α1 is formed.

Similarly, the light emitting unit 32b of the second light source unit 3b has a predetermined length in the ridge line direction of the end surface 10e of the laminated sheet material, and the light emitted from the light emitting unit 32b is centered on the irradiation optical axis 35b. As mentioned above, it irradiates from the 2nd main surface 10b side toward the to-be-observed area | region 10v of the end surface 10e of laminated sheet material. At this time, the irradiation optical axis 35b of the light emitted from the light emitting unit 32b is in the same direction as the perpendicular 15v and the observation optical axis 25 with respect to the observed region when viewed in plan as shown in FIG. On the other hand, when viewed from the side as shown in FIG. 1B, the irradiation optical axis 35b of the light emitted from the light emitting portion 32b is incident on the perpendicular 15v with respect to the observed region from the second main surface 10b side. An angle α2 is formed.

Each component is attached via a frame or a fixing bracket (not shown) so as to be arranged at a position as shown in FIGS. 1A and 1B with respect to the end face 10e of the laminated sheet material. It has been. In addition, since the end surface 10e of the laminated sheet material is not only perpendicular to the first main surface 10a and the second main surface 10b, but may be accompanied by swells and sags, the imaging camera 21 and the lens 22 are The observation area 10v is brought into focus.

That is, when the perpendicular 15v is defined in a direction perpendicular to the observation area 10v of the end surface 10e of the laminated sheet material, the side surface as shown in FIG. 1B is obtained even when viewed in plan as shown in FIG. When viewed from above, the perpendicular 15v to the observation region and the observation optical axis 25 are arranged to be the same.

Specifically, the image recording unit 4 and the image processing unit 5 can be realized using an image input function and an image processing function of a generally available image processing unit 96.

Further, the image processing unit 5 includes a ridge line position detection unit 51 and a protrusion tip position detection unit 52. The ridge line position detection unit 51 detects the ridge line position of the end portion of the core material of the laminated sheet material based on the observation image. The protrusion tip position detection unit 52 detects the tip position of the protrusion that protrudes outside the core material from the ridge line. Specifically, the ridge line position detection unit 51 and the protrusion tip position detection unit 52 are configured by processing blocks of an image processing program in the image processing unit 5, and are implemented using the image processing function of the image processing unit 96. Can be

For example, the processing block is programmed to perform a two-stage binarization process on the recorded observation image and to perform a pre-process such that white, gray, and black images are acquired. By doing so, the core material end face observed as a bright image, the core material projections are white, the part where the material having a lower surface reflectance than the core material such as the active material is gray, the other background part Is acquired as a black image.

[Inspection according to the present invention]
FIG. 3 is an image diagram showing an example of an image observed in a form embodying the present invention. The observed region 10 v of the end surface 10 e of the laminated sheet material is observed by the imaging camera 21 and shows an image of the observed image recorded in the image recording unit 4. The image shown in FIG. 3 includes a core material 10c constituting the sheet material 10n, a low-reflectance material layer 10d formed on the first main surface 10a side and the second main surface 10b side, and a core material 10c. A ridge line 10f indicating the boundary with the layer 10d of low reflectivity material and a background 10g are included. The ridge line 10f is on the first main surface 10a side and the second main surface 10b side of the core material 10c, and the distance between the ridge lines 10f is observed as the thickness t1 of the core material 10c.

Further, the image diagram shown in FIG. 3 includes a large burr B1 extending from the core material 10c and a small burr B2. The large burr B1 extends to the first main surface 10a side, and its tip protrudes outward (upward in the drawing) from the low-reflectance material layer 10d formed on the first main surface 10a side. Observed in state. Moreover, although the small burr | flash B2 is extended in the 1st main surface 10a side, it is observed in the state buried in the layer 10d of the low reflectance material formed in the 1st main surface 10a side. In order to stably recognize the burrs B1 and B2, it is important to stably recognize the ridge line 10f.

In the image processing unit 5, based on the read observation image, the core material 10c and the burrs B1 and B2 are formed on the first main surface 10a and second main surface 10b side of the core material 10c as a light gray image. The low reflectance material layer 10d is recognized as a dark gray image, and the background portion 10g is recognized as a black image.

Then, the ridge line position detection unit 51 detects the position of the boundary portion between the light gray and the dark gray of the read observation image, and performs an averaging process and a multi-point fitting process in the y direction. The position of the ridge line 10f is detected.

Further, in the protrusion tip position detection unit 52, a light gray portion, a dark gray portion, or a black color that are outside the ridge line 10f (on the first main surface 10a side and the second main surface 10b side with respect to the core material 10c). The tip positions of the burrs B1 and B2 are detected by detecting the boundary position with the part or determining that the core part is a rectangular fitting as a normal core part and performing a difference process therewith.
By doing in this way, the front-end | tip position of the projection part which protruded on the outer side of the core material 10c rather than the said ridgeline 10f is detectable.

[variation]
In applying the present invention, the first main surface side incident angle α1 and the second main surface side incident angle α2 are appropriately adjusted so that the apparent thickness t2 of the core member 10c is thicker than the original thickness t1. It is preferable to be observed. This is not simply increasing the brightness of the illumination, but adjusting the angles α1 and α2 to increase the intensity of light reflected by the ridge line 10f of the core member 10c (so-called edge scattering component). This can be realized. By doing so, a phenomenon similar to halation occurs in the ridge line 10f, and burrs are easily detected. It is possible to obtain an observation image that has just undergone the expansion processing in image processing.

FIG. 4 is an image diagram showing an example of an image observed in another form embodying the present invention. An observed image 10v of the end face 10e of the laminated sheet material is observed by the imaging camera 21, and an image image in a state where the apparent thickness t2 of the core member 10c is observed to be thicker than the original thickness t1 is obtained. Show. The image shown in FIG. 4 includes a core material 10c constituting the sheet material 10n, a low-reflectance material layer 10d formed on the first main surface 10a side and the second main surface 10b side, and a core material 10c. A ridge line 10h indicating an apparent boundary with the layer 10d of low reflectivity material and a background 10g are included. The apparent ridge line 10h has high contrast and can be recognized more stably, and is on the first main surface 10a side and the second main surface 10b side of the core member 10c, and the distance between the apparent ridge lines 10h. Is observed as an apparent thickness t2 of the core material 10c.

Further, the image diagram shown in FIG. 4 includes a large burr B1 'extending from the core material 10c and a small burr B2'. This large burr B1 ′ extends to the first main surface 10a side, and its tip protrudes outward (upward in the drawing) from the low-reflectance material layer 10d formed on the first main surface 10a side. Has been observed. Further, the small burr B2 ′ extends to the first main surface 10a side, but is observed in a state where it is buried in the low-reflectance material layer 10d formed on the first main surface 10a side. . Both burrs B1 'and B2' are brighter and larger than the burrs B1 and B2 shown in FIG.

In the image processing unit 5, based on the read observation image, the core material 10c and the burrs B1 ′ and B2 ′ are formed as white images on the first main surface 10a and second main surface 10b side of the core material 10c. The formed low reflectance material layer 10d is recognized as a gray image, and the background portion 10g is recognized as a black image.

Then, the ridge line position detection unit 51 detects the position of the boundary between the white color and the gray color of the read observation image, performs an averaging process or a multi-point fitting process in the y direction, and the like. The position of the ridge line 10h is detected.

Further, in the protrusion tip position detection unit 52, the white, gray, or black portion that is outside the apparent ridge line 10h (on the first main surface 10a side and the second main surface 10b side with respect to the core material 10c). The tip positions of the burrs B1 ′ and B2 ′ are detected by detecting a boundary position between the burrs and the rectangular fitting of the core part as a normal core part and performing a difference process therewith.
By doing in this way, the front-end | tip position of the projection part which protruded on the outer side of the core material 10c rather than the said apparent ridgeline 10h is detectable.

Furthermore, it is possible to detect burrs and chips of the active material by recognizing the boundary position between the active material and the background. Active material burrs and chips are less noticeable as defects that lead to ignition like burrs in core material, but are also important for detecting active material peeling and contamination and poor coating processes. .

[Lighting angle]
When the end face of the laminated sheet material is observed by applying the present invention, the apparent thickness of the core material changes when the illumination incident angle changes, and the core material 10c and protrusions such as burrs B1, B2 and the like. The brightness of the part changes.

FIG. 5 is a graph showing the relationship between the illumination incident angle, the imaging pixel luminance value of each part, and the apparent thickness magnification of the core in another embodiment embodying the present invention.
In FIG. 5, the core material and the active material when the illumination incident angles α1 and α2 are changed while the illumination incident angles α1 and α2 are taken along the horizontal axis when the end face of the secondary battery electrode sheet material is observed. It is a graph which shows the pixel luminance value obtained by imaging each part of the surface and the background as the 1st vertical axis (left side) and the apparent thickness magnification of the core material as the 2nd vertical axis (right side). The apparent thickness magnification of the core material referred to here is an apparent thickness t2 with respect to the original thickness t1 of the core material, and is expressed by t2 / t1 (times).

More specifically, the illumination light axes 35a and 35b from the illumination are tilted in the direction of each main surface with respect to the observation optical axis 25, and the incident angles α1 and α2 are changed to 15 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, and 60 degrees, respectively. The obtained data is plotted for the cases where

When the incident angles α1 and α2 were changed, there was no change in the brightness of the background 10g, and the brightness of the active material surface, which is a low-reflectance material, was slightly brightened, and no significant change was observed. On the other hand, the brightness of the core material surface became brighter as the incident angles α1 and α2 increased. This is because the intensity of scattered light from the ridge line 10f at the end of the core material increases as the incident angles α1 and α2 increase.
And by the brightness of the core material surface becoming bright, it appears that the apparent ridge line 10h is located outside the core material than the original ridge line 10f. As a result, the apparent thickness t2 of the core material appears to be thicker than the actual thickness t1 of the core material.

In the state where the apparent thickness t2 of the core material appears thicker than the actual thickness t1 of the core material, the core material burr is imaged relatively brightly. Therefore, a minute core material burr hidden in an active material or the like, which is a low-reflectance material, can be easily detected by increasing the incident angles α1 and α2.
On the other hand, when the incident angles α1 and α2 are increased, the apparent thickness of the core material increases, so that it becomes outside the height of the burr to be detected, and it becomes impossible to detect the minute burr inside.

In general, it is required to detect a burr whose height is half the thickness (that is, t1 / 2) of the actual thickness t1 of the core material. This is because the burrs hidden in the active material or the like coated on both surfaces of the core material may appear on the surface later, break through the separator, and cause a short circuit. Therefore, the apparent thickness of the core material is t1 / 2 on the first main surface side and t1 / 2 or less on the second main surface side (that is, the apparent thickness t2 of the core material is actual It is more preferable to set the incident angles α1 and α2 of the illumination so that the thickness is equal to or less than twice the thickness t1.

Such a condition is realized when the illumination angle is 60 degrees or less. On the contrary, if the illumination incident angles α1 and α2 exceed 60 degrees, a burr having a size desired to be found cannot be found. That is, it can be said that the illumination incident angles α1 and α2 are preferably 60 degrees or less.

[Lighting angle adjustment]
