Abstract
Description
本出願は2009年2月25日に出願された米国暫定特許出願第61/155,199号の利益を主張し、本明細書にその全体が参考として組み込まれる。
本発明は、押出コーティング法を一連の多層製造プロセスの主要な工程として利用し、グラフィック用途の積層体を作製するものである。押出コーティングされた層が補強層として働いて該構造に機械的特性を与えながら、インク受容コーティング層によって高い印刷品質が得られる。また、PETキャリアを使用することで光沢が強くなる。
フィルム押出法は、研磨したドラムに押出した重合体材料をコーティングした遊離フィルムの作製にも過去に利用されてきた。これらのフィルムはその後多様な着色コーティングで下塗りする。しかし、ドラムに接触する押出遊離フィルムの外部表面は(遊離フィルムとしてドラムから離れている)光沢度が低く画像の鮮明度も低い。また、このようにして製造したフィルムにはキャリアシートが付いていないため扱いにくく、この後のプロセスで損傷しやすい。
1.試料を、加工方向または加工方向に交差する方向に1インチ×4インチのサイズで切り抜く。
2.フィルムを両端から1インチのところでつかむ。このため両端のつかみ位置間の距離は2インチとなる。
3.クロスヘッド速度を12インチ/分(「ipm」)に設定する。
4.伸び率を機械が報告する。

Claims (15)
- グラフィックフィルムを製造するプロセスであって、
a.キャリアウェブ上にインク受容層をコーティングして乾燥させる工程と、
b.工程(a)の前記インク受容層上にポリオレフィン材料を押出コーティングする工程と、
c.前記キャリアウェブを前記インク受容層から取り外して、前記インク受容層の表面を露出する工程と、
を含むプロセス。 - 前記キャリアウェブはポリエステルフィルムである、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記キャリアウェブはPETである、請求項1または2に記載のプロセス。
- 前記工程(c)によって露出した前記インク受容層の表面に光沢がある、請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載のプロセス。
- 前記インク受容層は、酢酸ビニル単独重合体、酢酸ビニル共重合体、またはこれらの混合物、アクリル共重合体、またはアクリル共重合体と酢酸ビニル/エチレン共重合体との混合物、酢酸ビニル/エチレン共重合体およびアクリルの混成物、またはポリウレタン含有重合体の中から選ばれる、請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載のプロセス。
- 前記ポリオレフィン材料は、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、エチレン酢酸ビニル共重合体、ヘキサン、ブテン、またはオクテンとのエチレン共重合体、ポリプロピレン共重合体、ポリメチルペンテン、環状オレフィン重合体、環状オレフィン共重合体、メタロセン触媒系ポリオレフィン、またはこれらの熱可塑性プラスチックおよびエラストマーの中から1つ以上選ばれる、請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載のプロセス。
- 前記インク受容コーティング層は60ミクロン未満の厚みでコーティングされる、請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載のプロセス。
- 前記ポリオレフィン層は20ミクロン〜100ミクロンの厚みで押出コーティングされる、請求項1乃至7のいずれかに記載のプロセス。
- 前記プロセスは、工程(a)で乾燥させた前記インク受容層の接着性を改善するために、該インク受容層を処理する工程をさらに含む、請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載のプロセス。
- 前記処理は、接着促進層のコーティング、コロナ処理、火炎処理、プラズマ処理、オゾン処理またはこれらの組み合わせの中から選ばれる、請求項9に記載のプロセス。
- 前記光沢度は70超である、請求項4に記載のプロセス。
- 請求項1乃至11のいずれかに記載の前記プロセスによって製造したグラフィックフィルム表面材。
- グラフィックフィルムの積層構造であって、
a.請求項1乃至11のいずれかに記載の前記プロセスによって製造され、インク受容面およびポリオレフィン表面を含む、グラフィックフィルム表面材と、
b.前記ポリオレフィン表面にコーティングされた接着層と、
c.前記接着層に付着するライナーと、
を含む積層構造 - 前記接着剤はハロゲンフリー接着剤である、請求項13に記載の積層構造。
- 前記グラフィックフィルム表面材の前記インク受容面に光沢がある、請求項13または14に記載の積層構造。
