Description

The present invention relates to an X-ray CT (computed tomography) apparatus that generates an image of a subject by irradiating the subject with X-rays, detecting X-rays transmitted through the subject, and performing image reconstruction. The present invention relates to an X-ray CT apparatus that shortens an image reconstruction time by performing an efficient image reconstruction process.

One of diagnostic imaging apparatuses is an X-ray CT apparatus. An X-ray CT apparatus rotates an X-ray tube and an X-ray detector that face each other around the subject to irradiate the subject at various angles from the X-ray tube and transmit X-rays that have passed through the subject. It is a device that detects and visualizes images with an X-ray detector. In recent years, a two-dimensional array type X-ray flat panel detector in which X-ray detection elements are two-dimensionally arranged is used as an X-ray detector of an X-ray CT apparatus. In the two-dimensional array type X-ray flat panel detector, the number of X-ray detection elements is increasing, and not only the row direction which is the rotation direction of the X-ray detector but also the rotation axis direction of the X-ray detector. The number of X-ray detection elements in the column direction tends to increase.

An X-ray diagnostic image for display is generated through image reconstruction processing from a plurality of X-ray detection data respectively detected by the X-ray detection elements provided in the multi-row X-ray flat panel detector. Note that the scan performed by rotating the X-ray tube and the X-ray detector in a spiral around the subject is called a helical scan. On the other hand, a scan performed by rotating around the subject without moving the X-ray tube and the X-ray detector in the body axis direction of the subject is called a conventional scan. Here, a case where X-ray detection data is collected by helical scanning will be described.

FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure of X-ray detection data collected by a helical scan in a conventional multi-row X-ray CT apparatus, and reference numerals with numerals in the figure indicate each step of the flowchart. .

First, in step S1, data collection of X-ray detection data is performed. That is, the X-ray tube and the X-ray detector facing each other are moved in the body axis direction of the subject while rotating around the subject a plurality of times. As a result, the pair of the X-ray tube and the X-ray detector moves helically around the subject. Then, X-rays are intermittently exposed from the X-ray tube moving helically toward the subject. In this way, X-rays transmitted through the subject from various angles and positions in the body axis direction are detected as X-ray detection data by the i-row X-ray detection elements arranged in a two-dimensional manner on the X-ray detector. Detected.

Scanning in which X-rays are irradiated around the subject from a direction of 360 degrees or more and an image is reconstructed using X-ray detection data obtained from the direction of 360 degrees or more is called overscan. On the other hand, a method of exposing X-rays from an angle of less than 360 degrees, for example, a fan angle of 180 degrees + X-rays, and reconstructing an image from X-ray detection data of less than 360 degrees is half reconstruction. be called. Accordingly, X-ray detection data is collected by either overscan or half reconstruction scan.

The acquired X-ray detection data is given from the X-ray detector to a data acquisition system (DAS), where amplification, integration processing, A / D (Analog to Digital) conversion processing, logarithmic conversion is performed in the DAS. Projection data is generated from X-ray detection data by performing DAS processing such as processing.

Next, in step S2, raw data is generated by performing necessary preprocessing on the projection data.

Next, in step S3, the generated raw data is stored in an RDD (raw data disk) that is a storage device.

Next, in step S4, the raw data is bundled into raw data for the number of image data to be reconstructed by the raw data bundling process.

Next, in step S5, necessary preprocessing is performed on the raw data for the number of image data.

Next, in step S6, correction processing is performed on the raw data after the preprocessing. Examples of the correction process for the raw data include a Ring correction process for removing the Ring superimposed on the raw data and an energy correction process for correcting the X-ray energy that changes depending on the rotation of the X-ray tube.

Next, in step S7, an image reconstruction process including a convolution operation and a backprojection operation is performed on the raw data after the correction process. By this image reconstruction processing, a plurality of pieces of image data having a predetermined slice thickness are generated from the raw data. Image reconstruction processing includes cone beam reconstruction in consideration of the X-ray cone angle in the column direction of the X-ray detector and fan beam reconstruction in which the cone angle is not considered.

Here, particularly when X-rays are detected using a multi-row X-ray detector, the spread of X-rays in the column direction (body axis direction) of the X-ray detector becomes large. For this reason, the raw data collected by the X-ray detector and obtained by various processes is reconstructed simply by fan beam reconstruction without considering the cone angle, and image data for display is generated from the obtained multiple image data Then, the displayed image may be blurred.

In addition, when the slice thickness in the body axis direction of the image data generated by the reconstruction process is not sufficiently small with respect to the spread of the X-ray, the cone angle is not considered, and the above-described problem occurs.

Therefore, in the image reconstruction processing in the multi-row X-ray CT apparatus, an image for reconstructing an image according to the spread of the X-ray beam is used to perform an image having a plurality of thin slice thicknesses. Data is generated. The slice thickness of the image data generated here is a minimum slice thickness that can be reconfigured or a slice thickness close to the minimum slice thickness.

The minimum slice thickness of reconfigurable image data is determined by the width of one column of X-ray detection elements provided in the X-ray detector. The slice with the smallest thickness is sometimes referred to as a micro slice. When the slice thickness of the image data to be reconstructed is matched with the width of one column of the X-ray detection element, the image data for i columns having the smallest slice thickness is reconstructed.

Accordingly, when reconstructing the image data having the smallest slice thickness, the data is bundled into the raw data for i columns in step S4. On the other hand, if the slice thickness of the image data having a thin slice thickness is not the minimum, in step S4, the raw data bundled as many as the number of image data is subjected to preprocessing and correction processing in steps S5 and S6. .

Next, in step S8, the post-processing common to the image data for display is performed on the reconstructed image data with a thin slice thickness. Specific post-processing includes processing such as image-based correction processing that removes the Ring superimposed on the image data with a thin slice thickness.

Next, in step S9, correction processing necessary for generating image data for display is performed on the post-processed image data.

Next, in step S10, the image data of the thin slice after the correction process is stored in the storage device and displayed on the monitor as necessary.

Then, the user gives an instruction to the X-ray CT apparatus to generate image data having a desired slice thickness while referring to the image data of the thin slice displayed on the monitor. Then, in step S4, the raw data bundling process is performed for the number of image data having the designated slice thickness. Then, through the preprocessing and correction processing of the bundled raw data, in step S7, image reconstruction processing is performed so that image data having a designated slice thickness is generated.

Next, post-processing and correction processing of the image data having the slice thickness instructed in step S8 and step S9 are performed, and display image data is generated. The user can use various clinical applications to generate MPR (multi-planar reconstruction) images from the image data of the desired slice thickness generated in this way, or to display 3D images in real time. To do.

FIG. 8 is a diagram showing a generation order of image data generated by an image reconstruction method in a conventional X-ray CT apparatus.

As shown in FIG. 8, a plurality of micro slices are generated from the raw data and displayed as intermediate outputs. When the user instructs display of image data having a certain thickness, a plurality of pieces of image data having the specified slice thickness are generated from the raw data. Furthermore, when the user instructs display of image data having a different thickness, a plurality of pieces of image data having the designated slice thickness are generated again from the raw data.

That is, in the conventional image reconstruction method described above, the raw data generated by the preprocessing of the projection data is bundled in accordance with the slice thickness inside the computer for image reconstruction processing. In addition, in order to create thick image data for transferring images to film, a technique for bundling the output of the X-ray detector according to the slice thickness of the image data and a technique for bundling data before and after processing in DAS have been devised. (For example, refer to Patent Document 1).

Japanese Patent No. 3403990

In a conventional method for generating image data having a thick slice thickness, when a desired slice thickness is input to a computer, a series of processing from raw data bundling processing to image data reconstruction processing is repeatedly performed. When a desired slice thickness is further set, the same cycle is repeated.

That is, when generating image data with a thick slice thickness, a procedure is taken in which a huge number of thin slice thickness image data is reconstructed and then a designated thick slice thickness image data is reconstructed. ing. For this reason, there is a problem that the reconstruction process takes time.

Therefore, it is desired to shorten the workflow until generation of image data having a thick slice thickness.

The present invention has been made to cope with such a conventional situation, and provides an X-ray CT apparatus capable of reconstructing image data having a desired slice thickness in a shorter time with a smaller amount of data processing. The X-ray CT apparatus 1 includes a gantry unit 2 and a computer device 3. Then, a tube current having a predetermined tube voltage is supplied from the high voltage generator 5 to the X-ray tube 4 by a control signal from a control device (not shown), and an X-ray having a desired energy is supplied from the X-ray tube 4 at an arbitrary rotational position. The two-dimensional array detector block 10 is configured by arranging a plurality of X-ray detection elements 12 in a channel direction C and a slice direction A on a substrate 11 such as a printed circuit board (PCB). In recent years, the number of X-ray detection elements 12 has increased, and not only the channel direction C that is the rotation direction of the X-ray detector 6 but also the X direction in the slice direction A that is the rotation axis direction of the X-ray detector 6. The number of line detecting elements 12 tends to increase. FIG. 2 shows an example in which X-ray detection elements 12 having a width Bi are arranged in i rows in the slice direction A. The cone angle θ of the X-ray in the column direction of the X-ray detector 6 increases as the number of columns i of the X-ray detection elements 12 in the slice direction A increases.

Each X-ray detection element 12 includes a scintillator 13 and a photodiode 14, and has a function of detecting X-rays and converting them into electrical signals. Usually, the scintillator 13 and the photodiode 14 have the same number of elements. The scintillator 13 has a function of converting X-rays incident on the X-ray detection element 12 into light and applying the light to the photodiode 14, and the photodiode 14 has a function of converting light received from the scintillator 13 into an electric signal. .

The DAS 7 performs DAS processing such as amplification, integration processing, A / D conversion processing, logarithmic conversion processing, etc. on the X-ray detection data output as an electrical signal from each X-ray detection element 12 of the X-ray detector 6. Are provided with a function of generating projection data corresponding to each X-ray detection element 12 and a function of outputting the generated projection data to the computer apparatus 3.

The computer device 3 includes an arithmetic device 3a, a storage device 3b, a display device 3c, and an input device 3d. By executing various programs stored in the storage device 3b by the arithmetic device 3a, the computer device 3 generates image data having a desired slice thickness from the projection data acquired from the X-ray detector 6 via the DAS 7. A data processing function is provided. Further, a circuit may be provided in order to obtain a data processing function.

FIG. 3 is a functional block diagram of the computer apparatus 3 shown in FIG.

The computer apparatus 3 includes a projection data preprocessing unit 20, a raw data bundling processing unit 21, a raw data preprocessing unit 22, a raw data correction processing unit 23, a unit image data reconstruction unit 24, a unit image data postprocessing unit 25, and a unit. It functions as an image data storage unit 26, a slice thickness instruction unit 27, a unit image data addition processing unit 28, and an image data correction processing unit 29.

The projection data preprocessing unit 20 performs a necessary preprocessing on the projection data acquired from the DAS 7 to generate raw data corresponding to each X-ray detection element 12, and the generated raw data as raw data. A function to be given to the bundling processing unit 21.

The raw data bundling processing unit 21 has a function of bundling the raw data received from the projection data preprocessing unit 20 into the number of unit image data to be generated in accordance with the slice thickness of the unit image data serving as a reference, and the bundled raw data. A function of supplying data to the raw data preprocessing unit 22. The reference unit image data is image data having a slice thickness equal to or less than a desired slice thickness that can be specified by the user.

Therefore, if the image data having the slice thickness of the width Bi of the X-ray detection element 12 is set as the unit image data, the user can designate the thinnest slice thickness that can be generated in the X-ray CT apparatus 1. Further, when the image data having the slice thickness of the width Bi of the X-ray detection element 12 is used as the unit image data, the raw data bundling process can be omitted.

The raw data preprocessing unit 22 has a function of performing necessary preprocessing on raw data corresponding to the number of unit image data received from the raw data bundling processing unit 21, and the raw data after the preprocessing is converted into a raw data correction processing unit. 23.

The raw data correction processing unit 23 has a function of performing correction processing on the raw data after the preprocessing received from the raw data preprocessing unit 22, and a function of supplying the raw data after the correction processing to the unit image data reconstruction unit 24. Have. Examples of the correction process for the raw data include a ring correction process for removing the ring superimposed on the raw data and an energy correction process for correcting the X-ray energy that changes depending on the rotation of the X-ray tube 4. .

The unit image data reconstruction unit 24 performs raw image data that has been bundled in plural by performing image reconstruction processing that includes convolution calculation and back projection calculation on the raw data after the correction processing received from the raw data correction processing unit 23. A function of generating a plurality of corresponding unit image data from the data, and a function of supplying the generated unit image data to the unit image data post-processing unit 25. The image reconstruction processing executed in the unit image data reconstruction unit 24 is cone beam reconstruction using an algorithm that takes into account the X-ray cone angle θ in the column direction of the X-ray detector 6.

Therefore, even when the number of columns i of the X-ray detection elements 12 is large and the cone angle θ of the X-rays is so large that it cannot be ignored with respect to the width Bi of the X-ray detection elements 12, image re-execution is caused by the influence of the cone angle θ. Blur that occurs during configuration can be suppressed.

The unit image data is image data having a slice thickness equal to or less than a slice thickness that can be specified as described above, but may be a micro slice having a minimum slice thickness. When the slice thickness of the unit image data is matched with the width Bi for one column of the X-ray detection element 12, the unit image data for the i column with the smallest slice thickness is reconstructed.

The unit image data post-processing unit 25 writes the unit image data received from the unit image data reconstruction unit 24 to the unit image data storage unit 26 and a function for performing post-processing on the unit image data. And a function for saving. Examples of post-processing include processing such as image-based correction processing that removes the Ring superimposed on the unit image data.

The unit image data storage unit 26 has a function of storing unit image data after post-processing acquired from the unit image data post-processing unit 25. The unit image data storage unit 26 can be configured by using a storage device 3b such as a memory or DISK provided on a circuit board board in the computer device 3. When the unit image data storage unit 26 is provided with a memory, the unit image data after the post-processing is temporarily stored. If the DISK is provided, the unit image data can be stored permanently.

The slice thickness instruction unit 27 has a function of setting the range and slice thickness of the image data to be generated for display according to the instruction information from the input device 3d, and the unit image data addition processing unit with the set image generation range and slice thickness. 28. The slice thickness can be set to a different value for each position in the slice direction. That is, the slice thickness can be set so that a plurality of image data whose slice thickness is not constant is displayed.

For this purpose, the slice thickness instruction unit 27 has a function of giving scan image data of the subject P acquired in advance to the display device display device 3c for display. The user refers to the scan image of the subject P displayed on the display device 3c, and operates not only the generation range in the slice direction of the image data but also the position in the slice direction by operating the input device 3d such as a mouse or a pointer. Each slice thickness can be set.

In addition, the slice thickness instruction unit 27 can set the weight of unit image data to be added to generate image data of the set slice thickness. When the weight of the unit image data is set, image data having a desired slice thickness for display is generated by weighted addition of the unit image data.

The unit image data addition processing unit 28 reads unit image data corresponding to the range received from the slice thickness instruction unit 27 from among the plurality of unit image data stored in the unit image data storage unit 26 and performs addition processing. Thus, a function of generating image data having a set slice thickness in a range received from the slice thickness instruction unit 27 and a function of supplying the generated image data to the image data correction processing unit 29 are provided. When the weight coefficient of unit image data is received from the slice thickness instruction unit 27, the unit image data addition processing unit 28 generates image data by performing weighted addition processing of the unit image data using the weight coefficient. Configured to do.

The image data correction processing unit 29 has a function of performing necessary correction processing on the image data received from the unit image data addition processing unit 28, and a function of giving the image data after the correction processing to the display device 3c for display. Have.

Next, the operation and action of the X-ray CT apparatus 1 will be described.

FIG. 4 is a flowchart showing a flow of generating image data having a desired slice thickness by the X-ray CT apparatus 1 shown in FIG. 1, and the reference numerals with numerals in the figure indicate the steps of the flowchart.

First, in step S20, data is collected by helical scanning. That is, the X-ray tube 4 and the X-ray detector 6 are spirally rotated around the subject P, and a tube current having a predetermined tube voltage is generated from the high voltage generator 5 by the control signal from the control device (not shown). Supplied to the tube 4. Then, X-rays with desired energy are exposed to the subject P from each rotational position of the X-ray tube 4. When overscan is executed, X-rays are irradiated around the subject P from a direction of 360 degrees or more, and when scanning for half reconstruction is executed, the direction corresponding to the fan angle of 180 degrees + X-rays X-rays are emitted.

X-rays that have passed through the subject P are detected by the X-ray detection elements of the X-ray detector 6. That is, the scintillator 13 converts the X-rays incident on the X-ray detection element 12 into light and supplies the light to the photodiode 14, and the photodiode 14 converts the light received from the scintillator 13 into an electrical signal. Thus, the X-ray detection data detected in each X-ray detection element 12 is collected by the DAS 7 as an electrical signal.

Next, the DAS 7 generates projection data corresponding to each X-ray detection element 12 by subjecting the X-ray detection data to DAS processing such as amplification, integration processing, A / D conversion processing, and logarithmic conversion processing. The projection data generated in the DAS 7 is output to the computer device 3.

Next, in step S <b> 21, the projection data preprocessing unit 20 of the computer apparatus 3 generates raw data corresponding to each X-ray detection element 12 by performing necessary preprocessing on the projection data acquired from the DAS 7. Then, the generated raw data is given to the raw data bundling processing unit 21.

Next, in step S22, the raw data bundling processing unit 21 converts the raw data received from the projection data preprocessing unit 20 into unit image data having a slice thickness equal to or less than a desired slice thickness that can be specified by the user. Bundle it into a few minutes of image data. However, when image data having a slice thickness of the width Bi of the X-ray detection element 12 is used as unit image data, raw data cannot be bundled. On the other hand, when image data having a slice thickness that is thicker than the width Bi of the X-ray detection element 12 is used as unit image data, the raw data bundling processing unit 21 matches the slice data of the reference unit image data with the raw data. Are bundled into the number of unit image data to be generated. The bundled raw data or the raw data from which the bundling process is omitted is given from the raw data bundling processing unit 21 to the preprocessing unit.

Next, in step S <b> 23, the raw data preprocessing unit 22 performs necessary preprocessing on the raw data corresponding to the number of unit image data received from the raw data bundling processing unit 21 to the raw data correction processing unit 23. give.

Next, in step S24, the raw data correction processing unit 23 performs correction processing such as Ring correction processing and energy correction processing on the raw data after preprocessing received from the raw data preprocessing unit 22 to reconstruct unit image data. To part 24.

Next, in step S <b> 25, the unit image data reconstruction unit 24 performs image reconstruction processing including convolution calculation and back projection calculation on the raw data after the correction processing received from the raw data correction processing unit 23. A plurality of corresponding unit image data is generated from the raw data bundled in plural. The generated unit image data is given from the unit image data reconstruction unit 24 to the unit image data post-processing unit 25.

Next, in step S <b> 26, the unit image data post-processing unit 25 performs post-processing such as image base correction processing on the unit image data received from the unit image data reconstruction unit 24. Then, the unit image data post-processing unit 25 writes the unit image data after the post-processing in the unit image data storage unit 26 and stores it.

As a result, in step S27, the post-processed unit image data is stored in the unit image data storage unit 26 configured by the storage device 3b such as a memory or DISK. In particular, when the slice thickness of the unit image data is set to the minimum slice thickness, the unit image data of the slice having the minimum thickness that can be collected by the X-ray detector is stored in the unit image data storage unit 26. On the other hand, when the slice thickness of the unit image data is set to a slice thickness having a certain minimum thickness that can be collected by the X-ray detector, unit image data obtained by reconstructing raw data bundled in accordance with the thickness is obtained. It is stored in the unit image data storage unit 26.

Next, in step S28, the range in the slice direction of the image data to be displayed on the display device 3c and the slice thickness at each position are set. However, the slice thickness can be set not only after the unit image data is generated but also at an arbitrary timing. For example, the slice thickness of the image data to be displayed in advance before executing the scan may be set.

For this purpose, image information is given from the slice thickness instruction section 27 to the display device 3c, and a slice thickness setting screen is displayed on the display device 3c using a scan image of the subject P acquired in advance as a reference image. The The user sets the slice thickness at each position in the slice direction together with the generation range of the image data in the slice direction by giving instruction information to the slice thickness instruction unit 27 from the input device 3d while referring to the scanogram. However, the slice thickness may be set as the number of image data.

FIG. 5 is a diagram for explaining an example of setting the image data generation procedure and the slice thickness of the image data in the X-ray CT apparatus 1 shown in FIG.

As shown in FIG. 5, microslices (or image data with a thin slice thickness) in the entire range in the slice direction are created as unit image data by image reconstruction processing on the raw data. The user can set an arbitrary slice thickness in a range in an arbitrary slice direction. At this time, ranges in which image data having different slice thicknesses are generated may overlap. For this reason, the user can set a desired slice thickness according to the purpose within a necessary range.

In the example of FIG. 5, an instruction for generating a plurality of thin slice thickness image data for three-dimensional display, and an instruction for generating a medium slice thickness image data for confirmation are thick image data for filming. The generation instruction is given to the slice thickness instruction unit 27 from the input device 3d.

When the image generation range and the slice thickness corresponding to each image generation range are set, the corresponding unit image data is added to generate image data. Here, it is also possible to set the weight of the unit image data to be subjected to the image data addition process. When all the unit image data included in the image generation range have the same weight, all the unit image data included in the image generation range are subjected to addition processing, and image data is generated. On the other hand, if the weights of the unit image data included in the image generation range are made non-uniform, the image data can be generated more easily from the unit image data smaller than the number of unit image data included in the image generation range.

FIG. 6 is a diagram showing an example in which image data is generated from a plurality of unit image data weighted with different weighting factors in the X-ray CT apparatus 1 shown in FIG.

As shown in FIG. 6A, for example, when image data having a slice thickness of 5 mm is generated from unit image data having a slice thickness of 0.5 mm, when the weights of the unit image data are the same, 10 units are used. Image data is added to generate image data. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 6B, when the weight of two unit image data out of 10 unit image data is 0.5 and the weight of the other unit image data is 0, the weight is set to 0.5. One piece of image data is generated by adding the thickness of the two pieces of unit image data to 2.5 mm.

As described above, by weighting the unit image data, it is possible to generate image data having a desired slice thickness from only a part of the unit image data. In particular, when a part of the unit image data is generated without waiting for the reconstruction process of all the unit image data, the addition process for generating the image data of the set slice thickness can be started. Real-time characteristics regarding generation can be improved.

The image data generation range, slice thickness (or number of image data) and unit image data weighting coefficient set in this way are supplied from the slice thickness instruction section 27 to the unit image data addition processing section 28.

Next, in step S29, the unit image data addition processing unit 28 is instructed from the slice thickness instruction unit 27 by reading a plurality of unit image data stored in the unit image data storage unit 26 and performing addition processing. Image data having a slice thickness set in the image generation range is generated. That is, in the unit image data addition processing unit 28, unit image data having a minimum thickness or a certain thickness in the designated image generation range is bundled into image data having a designated slice thickness. When the weight of the unit image data is set, the unit image data addition processing unit 28 generates the image data having the designated slice thickness by the weighted addition processing of the unit image data in the image generation range. .

The generated image data is given from the unit image data addition processing unit 28 to the image data correction processing unit 29.

Next, in step S30, the image data correction processing unit 29 performs necessary correction processing on the image data received from the unit image data addition processing unit 28, and provides the image data to the display device 3c.

As a result, in step S31, the image data having the designated slice thickness in the designated image generation range is displayed on the display device 3c.

When displaying image data of another image generation range or slice thickness on the display device 3c, the image generation range and slice thickness are set again in step S28, and unit images in the image generation range specified in step S29 are set. Data is bundled into image data having a set slice thickness.

When the examination of a certain subject P is completed and data from another subject P is collected, the unit image data related to the past subject P is deleted from the unit image data storage unit 26.

That is, the X-ray CT apparatus 1 as described above once reconstructs and stores unit image data with a thin slice thickness from the collected projection data, and stores image data with a desired slice thickness by addition processing of the unit image data. It is made to generate. That is, conventionally, the thickness of the bundled raw data has been controlled, but the X-ray CT apparatus 1 controls the thickness of the image data after the image reconstruction process.

For this reason, in the X-ray CT apparatus 1, the processing results of the common processing are mutually used in the flow for generating the image data with the thick slice thickness and the image data with the thin slice thickness. Accordingly, conventionally, a large storage area has been provided to store raw data generated in a process prior to the common process. However, in the X-ray CT apparatus 1, image data having a thin slice thickness and A large storage area is provided for unit image data generated in common before the processing flow for generating image data having a thick slice thickness is different from each other. Then, unit image data generated in common is stored, and image data having a desired thickness is generated from the unit image data.

Conventionally, since image data of a thin slice is intermediate data, it is handled as data that does not need to be stored, and a method of storing and storing a storage area has not been adopted. Instead, a storage area is allocated to the raw data before image reconstruction, and the raw data is stored. This is because, in the past, there has been a limit to storage devices such as a memory, while trying to satisfy a user's request to display image data having a specified slice thickness in a shorter time.

On the other hand, in recent years, there has been an increasing demand for users to display image data of various slice thicknesses having different thicknesses in a shorter time. As a result, in the conventional image data generation method, every time the thickness of the image data is changed, the processing performed after the raw data generation processing is repeatedly performed, and the requirement for generating the image data in a short time is not sufficiently satisfied. It was a situation. On the other hand, the capacity of storage devices has increased with the times, and it has become possible to store larger size data.

Therefore, in the X-ray CT apparatus 1, a storage area is allocated and stored in the image data of a thin slice that is set as unit image data, and image data having a desired thickness is generated from the unit image data. For this reason, the time-consuming processes such as the raw data pre-processing after the projection data pre-processing, the raw data correction processing, the image data reconstruction processing, and the image data post-processing are performed a plurality of times. There is no need to repeat. Furthermore, the operation of starting RDD and reading raw data each time image data is generated becomes unnecessary. Thereby, the processing time for obtaining image data of a desired thickness can be shortened. In particular, image data with a greater thickness can be generated in a shorter time than in the past.

Further, in the X-ray CT apparatus 1, image data having a desired slice thickness that is different for each position in the slice direction can be created in a batch with a single setting. For this reason, it is possible to avoid image data generation processing in an unnecessary image generation range. Thereby, the generation time of image data can be further shortened. In addition, since image data with different slice thicknesses can be created with a single instruction, the number of image data addition processes can be reduced along with the number of slice thickness resets. Furthermore, if the number of times of image data addition processing is reduced, the time required for reading unit image data can be reduced.

Furthermore, image data for output can be generated by adding unit weight data with weights. Therefore, it is possible to generate output image data with a small data size from a smaller number of unit image data.
