Description

The present invention relates to an image recording method and an image recording apparatus, and more particularly, to an image recording device comprising a step or means for forming an image on a sheet-like recording medium and then transporting the recording medium accompanying the rotation of a rotating drum. The present invention relates to a method and an image recording apparatus.

For example, in an image recording apparatus such as an ink jet recording apparatus, there is a system in which a sheet (recording medium) is placed on a rotating drum having a curved outer peripheral surface and is rotated and conveyed while a leading end of the sheet is held by a holding unit. In this rotary conveyance method, the paper is attracted to the drum outer peripheral surface and conveyed so that the paper does not contact the print head (for example, Patent Document 1).

However, in the case of thick paper with high rigidity, it is difficult to bend following the curved surface of the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum, so that the rear end of the paper not held by the holding means jumps up, and the rear end of the paper is brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the drum. There is a problem of being transported without being adsorbed.

For this reason, before the sheet is adsorbed to the rotating drum, a sheet holding means for sufficiently holding the sheet to the rotating drum and surely adsorbing it is necessary. As a paper restraining means before printing an image for printing an image on the recording surface of the paper, a restraining roller that directly presses the paper against the outer peripheral surface of the drum over its entire width can be suitably employed.

Further, if the trailing edge of the paper jumps after the image is printed on the paper, for example, there is a risk of contacting various processing devices arranged on the paper conveyance line, for example, a drying nozzle for drying the image. Therefore, the sheet restraining means is required in the sheet conveyance after the image printing as well as before the image printing. In this case, if a suppression roller before image printing is used as the sheet suppression means after image printing, the suppression roller contacts the undried image immediately after printing, causing image destruction. As a result, there is a problem that the quality of the image is remarkably impaired, so that the suppression roller cannot be used. For this reason, as means for suppressing paper after image printing, means for suppressing paper without destroying the image is required. For example, Patent Document 2 discloses means for suppressing paper in a non-contact manner by a blowing means. .

特開2010−111474号公報JP 2010-111474 A 特開2003−211652号公報JP 2003-211652 A

However, an image recording apparatus such as an ink jet recording apparatus often uses thick paper with high rigidity, and as in Patent Document 2, the cardboard is made to follow the curved surface of the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum by the wind from the blowing means. If it tries to bend, the wind of a strong wind pressure is required and there exists a problem that the image in an undried state will be destroyed.

The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and even for a recording medium having high rigidity, the trailing end of the recording medium that is likely to jump up by being surely restrained following the curved surface of the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum is provided. Provided are an image recording method and an image recording apparatus that can reliably adsorb to the outer peripheral surface of a rotating drum and can stably convey the image so that the image on the recording medium is not brought into contact with various processing devices arranged on the conveyance line. For the purpose.

In order to achieve the above object, the image recording method according to claim 1 of the present invention forms an image on a sheet-like recording medium having a basis weight of 150 gsm or more, and then conveys the recording medium accompanying the rotation of the rotating drum. In the image recording method including a conveying step, the conveying step includes a holding step of holding a leading end portion of the recording medium in a conveying direction by a holding unit formed on an outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum, and a recording surface side of the recording medium. A contact-type pressing step in which the recording medium is pressed against the rotating drum by contacting both ends in the width direction, and a plurality of suction holes formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum on the non-image surface side of the recording medium And an adsorption step of adsorbing at a.

According to the image recording method of the present invention, the leading end of the recording medium in the conveyance direction is held by the holding means formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum, and the recording medium is in contact with the both ends in the width direction on the recording surface side of the recording medium. The medium was held to the rotating drum side, and the non-image surface of the recording medium was adsorbed by a number of suction holes formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum.

As a result, even a recording medium having a large basis weight of 150 gsm or more and having a high rigidity can be reliably restrained following the curved surface of the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum. The drum can be reliably attracted and held on the outer peripheral surface of the drum. As a result, since the recording medium can be stably conveyed by the rotating drum, the image of the recording medium is not brought into contact with various processing devices arranged on the conveyance line.

In the image recording method of the present invention, in the contact-type pressing step, it is preferable that the both ends in the width direction are pressed down at a plurality of locations along the conveyance direction of the recording medium.

As a result, the effective distance for restraining both ends of the recording medium becomes longer, and the adhesion in the conveyance direction of the recording medium is further improved. For example, if one row of contact-type restraining means are arranged before and after the suction start position for sucking the recording medium to the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum, a total of two rows are arranged, and the suction is unstable immediately after the start of suction due to the deflection of the recording medium. Even in such a case, since the contact state is maintained before passing through the second-line contact-type pressing means, the adsorption force can be stabilized during that time.

In the image recording method of the present invention, it is preferable that a plurality of restraining portions at both ends in the width direction are positioned in a staggered manner.

In the contact-type pressing step, if both ends in the width direction of the thick recording medium are pressed against the outer peripheral surface side of the rotating drum, the central portion of the recording medium may bend and rise to a convex shape and be conveyed as it is. . Therefore, a plurality of restraining points at both ends in the width direction are positioned in a staggered manner, the opposite end of the recording medium end being restrained is a free end, and both ends are on the same line in the recording medium width direction. I tried not to suppress it. Thereby, it is possible to effectively avoid the central portion of the recording medium from bulging in a convex shape. In this case, if a plurality of restraining locations at both ends in the width direction are restrained in a staggered manner, there is a concern that the recording medium rear end will rise on one side that is not restrained. It is significantly less and acceptable. In addition, if the pitch of the pressing portion in the recording medium conveyance direction is reduced, the lifting of the trailing end of the recording medium on one side that is not suppressed can be eliminated.

In the image recording method of the present invention, the suction in the suction step is started between -0.2 seconds and +0.1 seconds after the last end portion of the recording medium is suppressed by the contact-type pressing step. It is preferable to do. Here, -0.2 second means starting suction | inhalation 0.2 second before starting a contact-type suppression process.

This is because if the suction of the recording medium to the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum is started at a small stage, the ratio of the suction holes in the open state among the many suction holes formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum increases. The suction force is reduced and the recording medium cannot be reliably adsorbed. On the other hand, if it takes a long time for the suction to start after the rear end of the recording medium is suppressed, there is a risk that the rear end will jump up from the outer peripheral surface again due to the rigidity of the recording medium and the rear end cannot be sucked. is there.

That is, it is preferable that the timing at which the rear end of the recording medium is brought into close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum by contact-type pressing is substantially the same as the timing at which suction starts, and is −0.2 seconds to +0.1 seconds. It is preferable. More preferably, the adsorption is performed immediately after the contact-type suppression, and the time interval between +0.02 seconds and +0.05 seconds is more preferable immediately after the adsorption start position immediately after the suppression position.

The suction pressure on the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum that sucks the recording medium is preferably adjusted between 20 and 60 kPa (at the time of suction) according to the basis weight of the recording medium. A more preferable suction pressure is in the range of 45 to 60 kPa (at the time of adsorption). As the recording medium becomes thicker, a higher suction pressure setting is required. However, in the present invention, the suction pressure can be kept low by combining the suction process with the contact-type pressing process. Thereby, there exists a merit which can suppress the power consumption and noise of a suction pump.

In the image recording method of the present invention, a non-contact type pressing step for holding the width direction of the recording medium to the rotating drum side in a non-contact manner is provided between the holding step and the contact type pressing step. Is preferred.

This is because, in the contact-type pressing process, if both ends in the width direction of a thick recording medium are pressed down, the central part of the recording medium tends to bulge in a convex shape. By performing the attachment, the swelling of the central portion can be suppressed.

In addition, if a non-contact type holding means is used in combination with the contact type holding means, even if an air blowing is used as the non-contact type holding means, a strong wind pressure is not required. Even if the wind is blown to the full width, the image is not destroyed.

In the image recording method of the present invention, the non-contact pressing step is an air blowing step in which air is blown linearly in the entire width direction of the recording medium, and is blown to both ends of the recording medium. It is preferable to increase the wind pressure to be wiped to the central portion rather than the wind pressure to be applied.

As described above, when the both ends in the width direction of the thick recording medium are suppressed in the contact-type pressing step, the central portion of the recording medium tends to bulge in a convex shape. Therefore, before the contact-type pressing process is performed, if the wind pressure applied to the central part is stronger than the wind pressure sprayed to both ends of the recording medium in the non-contact type pressing process, the central part of the recording medium is recessed. In this state, the contact type pressing is performed, so that the convex and concave are offset. Thereby, in the contact-type pressing step, the entire width direction of the recording medium can be brought into close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum.

Therefore, it is more effective to combine the operation of increasing the wind pressure to be blown to the center portion than the wind pressure to be blown to both ends of the recording medium and the operation to position the holding portions in a staggered manner as described above.

In the image recording method of the present invention, before the image is formed on the recording surface of the recording medium, a treatment liquid for increasing the cohesive force of the image is applied to the recording surface, and the both ends of the recording medium in the width direction are aggregated. It is preferable to apply so that the force is greater than the cohesive force at the center.

As a result, when the image to be recorded on the recording medium is borderless (image formation on the entire recording surface), contact-type suppression is performed on the image surface, but offset (transfer) at that time can be prevented. As a method for applying so that the cohesive force at both ends in the width direction of the recording medium is larger than the cohesive force at the central portion, for example, increasing the concentration of the coagulant at both ends in the width direction.

In the image recording method of the present invention, it is preferable that the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum is heated before the adsorption step. If the conveyance process of the present invention is performed, the entire non-image surface of the recording medium can be adsorbed and conveyed in close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum. Therefore, if the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum is heated, Not only can drying be accelerated, but also the drying distribution in the recording medium conveyance direction can be made uniform.

In order to achieve the above object, an image recording apparatus according to claim 9 of the present application is provided with conveying means for forming an image on a sheet-like recording medium and then conveying the recording medium with the rotation of a rotating drum. In the recording apparatus, the conveying unit is provided on an outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum, and holds a leading end portion in the conveyance direction of the recording medium, and is upstream of the holding unit in the conveyance direction of the recording medium. A pair of contact-type pressing means provided at both ends in the width direction of the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum and contacting the width side end of the recording medium to press the recording medium against the rotating drum; And a plurality of suction holes formed on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum and configured to suck the non-image surface side of the transported recording medium to the outer peripheral surface.

According to a ninth aspect of the present invention, the present invention is configured as an apparatus, and even if the recording medium has a high rigidity, the trailing end of the recording medium that is likely to jump up is reliably rotated following the curved surface of the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum. The drum can be reliably adsorbed on the outer peripheral surface of the drum and stably conveyed. Therefore, the image on the recording medium is not brought into contact with various processing devices arranged on the transport line.

In the image recording apparatus of the present invention, it is preferable that the basis weight of the recording medium is 150 gsm or more. This is because a recording medium having a basis weight of 150 gsm or more and a thick paper has high rigidity and the trailing end of the recording medium is likely to jump up during suction conveyance with a rotating drum.

In the image recording apparatus of the present invention, the contact-type pressing means is preferably any one of a roller, a star wheel, and a belt. This is a specific example of a preferred contact-type restraining means.

In the image recording apparatus of the present invention, it is preferable to provide a plurality of the pair of contact-type pressing means along the conveyance direction of the recording medium. Accordingly, since the entire surface of the recording medium can be sucked in close contact with the rotating drum, the recording medium can be stably sucked and conveyed by the rotating drum.

In the image recording apparatus of the present invention, it is preferable that the plurality of the provided contact-type pressing means are arranged in a staggered manner at both ends in the width direction. Thereby, when the both ends in the width direction of the thick recording medium are suppressed by the contact-type pressing means, the central portion of the recording medium can be prevented from bulging in a convex shape.

In the image recording apparatus of the present invention, it is preferable that the contact-type pressing means is covered with a water repellent material. As a result, when the image to be recorded on the recording medium is borderless (image formation on the entire recording surface), the contact-type pressing means comes into contact with the image surface, but offset (transfer) at that time is prevented. it can.

In the image recording apparatus of the present invention, it is preferable that the image recording apparatus further includes an interval adjusting unit that adjusts an interval between the pair of contact-type pressing units. Thereby, even when recording media having different width dimensions are sucked and conveyed by the rotating drum, it is possible to accurately suppress appropriate positions at both ends in the width direction.

In the image recording apparatus of the present invention, a non-contact type pressing unit that holds the width direction of the recording medium in a non-contact manner toward the rotary drum side at a position upstream of the contact type pressing unit in the conveyance direction of the recording medium. Is preferably provided. Thus, when the both ends in the width direction of the thick recording medium are suppressed by the contact-type pressing means, the central portion of the recording medium can be more reliably avoided from bulging. As the non-contact type pressing means, a blowing means having a slot-like outlet formed over the entire width of the recording medium can be suitably employed.

According to the image recording method and the image recording apparatus of the present invention, even if the recording medium has a large rigidity, the rotational end of the recording medium that is likely to jump up by being surely restrained following the curved surface of the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum Stable conveyance can be achieved by reliably adsorbing to the outer peripheral surface. Therefore, the image on the recording medium is not brought into contact with various processing devices arranged on the transport line.

In addition, about embodiment described below, the example of an inkjet recording device is demonstrated as an example of an image recording device.
[Overall configuration of inkjet recording apparatus]
First, the overall configuration of an ink jet recording apparatus to which the present invention is applied will be described.

FIG. 1 is a conceptual diagram conceptually showing the overall configuration of the ink jet recording apparatus 1 of the present embodiment. Intermediate conveyance units (transfer cylinders) 24, 26, and 28 are provided between the processing units, and the intermediate conveyance units 24, 26, and 28 transfer the recording medium 22 to and from the processing units. That is, a first intermediate transport unit 24 is provided between the processing liquid application unit 12 and the drawing unit 14, and the recording medium from the processing liquid application unit 12 to the drawing unit 14 is provided by the first intermediate transport unit 24. 22 delivery is performed. Similarly, a second intermediate transport unit 26 is provided between the drawing unit 14 and the drying unit 16. The recording medium 22 is transferred from the drawing unit 14 to the drying unit 16 by the second intermediate transport unit 26. Is done. Further, a third intermediate transport unit 28 is provided between the drying unit 16 and the exposure curing unit 18, and the recording medium 22 from the drying unit 16 to the exposure curing unit 18 is provided by the third intermediate transport unit 28. Delivery takes place.

Of the processing unit after the image is formed on the recording surface of the recording medium 22, that is, the drying unit 16 and the exposure / curing unit 18, at least the drying unit 16 is provided with a conveying unit that is a characteristic part of the present invention. It should be noted that a conveying means that is a feature of the present invention can be further provided in the treatment liquid application unit 12 and the drawing unit 14.

Hereinafter, the paper feeding unit 10, the treatment liquid application unit 12, the drawing unit 14, the drying unit 16, the exposure curing unit 18, the discharge unit 20, and the first to third intermediate conveyance units 24, 26, and 28 of the inkjet recording apparatus 1. explain. Further, the case where the conveying means which is a characteristic part of the present invention is provided in the drying unit 16 will be described.

(Paper Feeder)
The paper feed unit 10 is a mechanism that supplies the recording medium 22 to the drawing unit 14. The paper feed unit 10 is provided with a paper feed tray 50, and the recording medium 22 is fed from the paper feed tray 50 to the processing liquid application unit 12 one by one.

(Processing liquid application part)
The processing liquid application unit 12 is a mechanism that applies the processing liquid to the recording surface of the recording medium 22. The treatment liquid includes a color material aggregating agent that agglomerates or deposits the color material (pigment) in the ink applied by the drawing unit 14. When the treatment liquid comes into contact with the ink, the ink Separation from the solvent is facilitated. A more detailed description of the treatment liquid will be described later.

As shown in FIG. 1, the treatment liquid application unit 12 includes a transfer drum 52, a treatment liquid drum 54, a treatment liquid application device 56, an IR heater 58, and a hot air blowing nozzle 60. The transfer drum 52 is disposed between the paper feed tray 50 of the paper feed unit 10 and the treatment liquid drum 54 and includes a claw-shaped holding means (not shown) such as a gripper on the outer peripheral surface thereof. It is driven to rotate while holding the tip. The recording medium 22 fed from the paper feed unit 10 is received by the transfer drum 52 and transferred to the processing liquid drum 54.

The treatment liquid drum 54 is a drum that holds and rotates the recording medium 22 and is driven to rotate. Further, the processing liquid drum 54 includes a claw-shaped holding means 55 on the outer peripheral surface thereof, and the holding means 55 can hold the tip of the recording medium 22. The recording medium 22 is rotated and conveyed by rotating the processing liquid drum 54 with the tip held by the holding means 55. A processing liquid coating device (corresponding to a coating device) 56, an IR heater 58, and a hot air blowing nozzle 60 are provided outside the processing liquid drum 54 so as to face the peripheral surface thereof. The treatment liquid coating device 56, the IR heater 58, and the hot air blowing nozzle 60 are sequentially arranged from the upstream side in the rotation direction of the treatment liquid drum 54 (counterclockwise direction in FIG. 1). The processing liquid is applied to the recording surface by the processing liquid application device 56. The film thickness of the treatment liquid is desirably sufficiently smaller than the droplet diameter of ink ejected from the inkjet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, 72Y of the drawing unit 14. For example, when the ink droplet ejection amount is 2 pl, the average droplet diameter is 15.6 μm. At this time, when the film thickness of the processing liquid is large, the ink dots float in the processing liquid without contacting the surface of the recording medium 22. Therefore, in order to obtain a landing dot diameter of 30 μm or more when the ink ejection amount is 2 pl, it is desirable that the film thickness of the treatment liquid is 3 μm or less.

The recording medium 22 coated with the treatment liquid by the treatment liquid application device 56 is conveyed to the positions of the IR heater 58 and the hot air blowing nozzle 60. The IR heater 58 is controlled to a high temperature (for example, 180 ° C.), and the hot air blowing nozzle 60 blows the high temperature (for example, 70 ° C.) warm air toward the recording medium 22 at a constant air volume (for example, 9 m 3 / min). Composed. By the heating by the IR heater 58 and the hot air blowing nozzle 60, water in the solvent of the processing liquid is evaporated, and a thin film layer of the processing liquid is formed on the recording surface. By thinning the treatment liquid in this way, the dots of ink that are ejected by the drawing unit 14 come into contact with the recording surface of the recording medium 22 to obtain the required dot diameter, and the thinned treatment liquid component Reacts with the colorant to cause aggregation of the coloring material, so that the effect of fixing to the recording surface of the recording medium 22 is easily obtained. The processing liquid drum 54 may be controlled to a predetermined temperature (for example, 50 ° C.).

(Drawing part)
As shown in FIG. 1, the drawing unit 14 includes a drawing drum 70 and ink jet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, and 72Y that are disposed in proximity to a position facing the outer peripheral surface of the drawing drum 70. The inkjet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, and 72Y correspond to inks of four colors, magenta (M), black (K), cyan (C), and yellow (Y), and are upstream in the rotation direction of the drawing drum 70. Arranged in order from the side.

The drawing drum 70 is a drum that holds the recording medium 22 on its outer peripheral surface and rotates and conveys the recording medium 22 and is driven to rotate. Further, the drawing drum 70 includes a claw-shaped holding unit 71 on the outer peripheral surface thereof, and the holding unit 71 can hold the leading end of the recording medium 22. The recording medium 22 is rotated and conveyed by rotating the drawing drum 70 with the leading end held by the holding means 71. At this time, the recording medium 22 is transported so that the recording surface faces outward, and ink is applied to the recording surface from the inkjet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, 72Y.

The inkjet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, and 72Y are full-line inkjet recording heads (inkjet heads) each having a length corresponding to the maximum width of the image forming area in the recording medium 22, and the ink ejection surfaces thereof are arranged on the ink ejection surface. Is formed with a nozzle row in which a plurality of nozzles for ink ejection are arranged over the entire width of the image forming area. Each inkjet head 72M, 72K, 72C, 72Y is fixedly installed so as to extend in a direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction of the recording medium 22 (the rotation direction of the drawing drum 70).

Corresponding color ink cassettes are attached to each of the inkjet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, 72Y. The ink droplets are ejected from the inkjet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, 72Y toward the recording surface of the recording medium 22 held on the outer peripheral surface of the drawing drum 70. As a result, the ink comes into contact with the treatment liquid applied to the recording surface in advance by the treatment liquid application unit 12, and the color material (pigment) dispersed in the ink is aggregated to form a color material aggregate. Thereby, the color material flow on the recording medium 22 is prevented, and an image is formed on the recording surface of the recording medium 22. At that time, since the drawing drum 70 of the drawing unit 14 is structurally separated from the processing liquid drum 54 of the processing liquid applying unit 12, the processing liquid may adhere to the ink jet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, 72Y. In addition, the cause of ink ejection failure can be reduced.

In addition, as an example of the reaction between the ink and the treatment liquid, using a mechanism in which an acid is contained in the treatment liquid and the pigment dispersion is destroyed and aggregated by lowering the pH, the color material bleeds, the color mixture between the inks of each color, and the liquid upon landing of the ink droplet It is conceivable to avoid droplet ejection interference due to coalescence.

In addition, the droplet ejection timing of each of the inkjet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, 72Y is synchronized with an encoder that detects the rotational speed disposed on the drawing drum 70. Thereby, the landing position can be determined with high accuracy. In addition, the fluctuation of the speed due to the deflection of the drawing drum 70 is learned in advance, and the droplet ejection timing obtained by the encoder (not shown) is corrected, so that the deflection of the drawing drum 70, the accuracy of the rotation axis, the outer periphery of the drawing drum 70 Irregular droplet ejection can be reduced without depending on the surface speed.

Further, maintenance operations such as cleaning of the nozzle surfaces of the inkjet heads 72M, 72K, 72C, and 72Y and discharging of the thickened ink may be performed after the head unit is retracted from the drawing drum 70.

In this example, the configuration of CMYK standard colors (four colors) is illustrated, but the combination of ink colors and the number of colors is not limited to this embodiment, and light ink, dark ink, and special colors are used as necessary. Ink may be added. For example, it is possible to add an ink jet head that discharges light ink such as light cyan and light magenta, and the arrangement order of the color heads is not particularly limited.

(Drying part)
As shown in FIG. 1, the drying unit 16 is a step of drying the recording surface on which an image is formed while adsorbing and transporting the recording medium 22 delivered from the intermediate transport unit 26 by a rotating drum. That is, the drying unit 16 includes a conveyance unit including a drying drum 76 (rotary drum) and a drying unit that dries the recording surface of the recording medium 22 conveyed by the conveyance unit.

The drying means includes a first IR heater 78, a hot air jet nozzle 80, and a second IR heater 82 that are disposed at positions facing the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76.

The first IR heater 78 is provided upstream of the hot air jet nozzle 80 in the rotation direction of the drying drum 76 (counterclockwise direction in FIG. 1), and the second IR heater 82 is jetted of hot air. Provided downstream of the nozzle 80. The hot air jet nozzle 80 is configured to blow hot air controlled at a predetermined temperature (for example, 50 ° C. to 70 ° C.) toward the recording medium 22 with a constant air volume (12 m 3 / min), and an IR heater. Each of 78 is controlled to a predetermined temperature (for example, 180 ° C.). The hot air jet nozzle 80 and the IR heater 78 evaporate the moisture contained in the recording surface of the recording medium 22 held on the drying drum 76 and perform a drying process. At that time, since the drying drum 76 of the drying unit 16 is structurally separated from the drawing drum 70 of the drawing unit 14, in the inkjet heads 72 </ b> M, 72 </ b> K, 72 </ b> C, 72 </ b> Y, the head meniscus portion is dried by thermal drying. Ink ejection failure can be reduced. Moreover, there is a degree of freedom in setting the temperature of the drying unit 16, and an optimal drying temperature can be set.

The evaporated water may be discharged out of the apparatus together with air by a discharge means (not shown). Furthermore, the recovered air can be cooled by a cooler (radiator) or the like and recovered as a liquid.

Next, the conveying means that is a characteristic part of the present invention will be described.

Conveying means for conveying the recording medium 22 in the drying unit 16 is provided mainly on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76, and has a claw-shaped holding means 77 that holds the leading end of the recording medium 22 in the conveying direction, and the holding means 77. The recording medium 22 is provided on the upstream side in the transport direction of the recording medium 22 and at both ends in the width direction of the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76, and comes into contact with the end in the width direction of the recording medium 22. A pair of contact-type pressing means that hold onto the outer peripheral surface, a plurality of suction holes that are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 and suck the non-image surface side (hereinafter referred to as the back surface) of the recording medium 22 being conveyed to the outer peripheral surface Consists of.

The drying drum 76 is a drum that rotates and conveys the recording medium 22 while holding the recording medium 22 on its outer peripheral surface, and the rotation of the drying drum 76 is controlled by a motor driver (not shown). The drying drum 76 has a plurality of suction holes formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof, and has suction means (not shown) that performs suction from the suction holes. As a result, the recording medium 22 can be sucked and held on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76.

The drying drum 76 can control the suction start position of the recording medium 22 through the suction holes. The suction pressure of the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 that adsorbs the recording medium 22 is preferably adjusted between 20 and 60 kPa (during adsorption) according to the basis weight of the recording medium 22. As the recording medium 22 becomes thicker, a higher suction pressure setting is required. However, in the present invention, the suction pressure is lowered by combining the contact-type pressing unit 91 with the suction of the recording medium 22 on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76. be able to. Thereby, there exists a merit which can suppress the power consumption and noise of a suction pump.

The adsorption force of the recording medium 22 on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 can be expressed by (opening area) × (pressure per unit area). The adsorption force can be further increased by increasing the area occupied by the suction holes in the recording medium adsorption holding region, that is, the aperture ratio.

The opening ratio of the suction holes is preferably 1% or more and 75% or less, more preferably 10% or more and 50% or less with respect to the contact area between the drying drum 76 and the recording medium 22. By setting the aperture ratio within the above range, it is possible to prevent the suppression of cockle and improve the drying performance. If the aperture ratio is less than 1%, expansion deformation of the recording medium due to water absorption after recording cannot be sufficiently suppressed. On the other hand, if it exceeds 75%, the contact area between the back surface of the recording medium (non-image surface) and the surface of the conveying member (recording surface) is reduced, so that sufficient drying performance cannot be obtained even in the adsorption holding state. Further, since drying is not promoted, cockle tends to deteriorate.

The aperture ratio can be controlled by the diameter of the suction holes, the hole pitch, and the shape and arrangement of the holes. The hole diameter is preferably 0.4 mm or more in order to secure the aperture ratio and increase the suction force, and is designed to be 1.5 mm or less so that the recording medium does not have a dent mark (suction mark) due to negative pressure suction. It is preferable to do. The hole pitch is preferably 0.1 mm or more in order to prevent thermal deformation of the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 and to ensure rigidity. If the holes are too far apart, the effect of suppressing the deformation of the recording medium 22 is insufficient, and wrinkles are generated at the time of adsorption. Therefore, it is preferable to design to 10 mm or less in order to prevent the wrinkles.

If the suction hole has a corner (acute angle), stress concentrates on the corner, and therefore, the shape of the suction hole is preferably rounded. Further, in the rotary conveyance body, the deformation amount of the recording medium due to the adsorption pressure is larger in the axial direction than in the circumferential direction. Therefore, the suction hole may have an elliptical shape or a long hole shape in which the circumferential direction is the major axis direction and the axial direction is the minor axis direction, so that the circumferential deformation and the axial deformation of the recording medium can be made uniform. it can.

The holding means 77 includes a claw-like member in a recess formed on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 and a swinging means (not shown) that swings the claw member around the pin. The front end of the recording medium 22 is sandwiched between the member and the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76.

The recording medium 22 is rotated and conveyed in a state where the leading end is held by the holding unit 77 and is attracted to the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76.

However, if the recording medium 22 is held by the holding means 77 and is simply adsorbed to the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76, when the recording medium 22 having a large basis weight of 150 gsm or more is conveyed, the recording medium 22 There is a case where the rearmost end portion of 22 is conveyed without being attracted. As a result, the image formed at the rearmost end of the recording medium 22 is in contact with various processing devices (for example, the hot air ejection nozzle 80 and the IR heater 78) disposed on the transport line and destroyed. There is.

Therefore, in the present invention, a pair of contact-type pressing means for pressing the recording medium 22 to the outer peripheral surface side of the drying drum 76 by contacting both ends in the width direction on the recording surface side of the recording medium 22 is provided.

A roller, a belt, a star wheel, or the like can be adopted as the contact-type pressing means. In the present embodiment, an example of the roller 91 will be described below.

As shown in FIG. 2, a pair of rollers 91 are disposed at both ends in the width direction of the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76. The shaft 91 of the roller 91 is rotatably supported by a rod 91B of the piston cylinder 91A via a bearing (not shown). Thereby, the space | interval of a pair of rollers 91 can be adjusted by extending / contracting piston cylinder 91A. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 3, it is possible to correspond to various recording media 22, 22 ′, 22 ″ having different width dimensions.

As shown in FIG. 2, the rod 91B is provided with a compression spring 91D via a member 91C provided at an intermediate position of the rod 91B, and one end of the compression spring 91D is supported by an apparatus main body (not shown). Accordingly, the roller 91 is urged toward the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 by the compression spring 91D.

According to the conveying means configured as described above, the leading end of the recording medium 22 in the conveying direction is held by the holding means 77 formed on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76, and then the width direction of the recording medium 22 on the recording surface side. Both ends can be held against the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 by a pair of rollers 91, and then the rear surface of the recording medium 22 can be adsorbed by a number of suction holes formed on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76. In this case, the pair of rollers 91 do not obstruct the conveyance of the recording medium 22 by being driven and rotated by the conveyance of the recording medium 22.

As a result, even the recording medium 22 having a large basis weight of 150 gsm or more and having a large rigidity can be surely restrained following the curved surface of the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76. The portion 22A can be reliably adsorbed to the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76. Accordingly, since the recording medium 22 can be stably conveyed by the drying drum 76, the image of the recording medium 22 is not brought into contact with various processing devices arranged on the conveyance line.

FIG. 4 shows the recording medium 22 with and without a pair of rollers when the tip of the recording medium 22 having a basis weight of 260 gsm is held by the holding means 77 of the drying drum 76 and sucked and conveyed. This is a test of how the jumping of the rearmost end portion 22A differs. The suction force generated on the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 is the same at 60 kPa in all tests 1 to 3. The recording medium 22 is transported in the direction of the arrow.

As can be seen from FIG. 4, in Test 1 in which both the suppression by the roller 91 and the suction are performed, the recording medium 22 is sufficiently brought into close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 by the roller 91 before the suction is started. Can start. Thereby, even after the recording medium 22 has passed the roller 91, the rear end 22A of the recording medium 22 can be stably conveyed without jumping up.

On the other hand, in Test 2 in which only the adsorption was performed and Test 3 in which only the suppression by the roller 91 was performed, the rearmost end 22A of the recording medium 22 jumped up, and stable conveyance could not be performed. Although not shown in the figure, the same effect can be obtained when a belt or star wheel is used as the contact-type restraining means.

In addition, the pair of rollers 91 is preferably provided with a plurality of both end portions in the width direction of the recording medium 22 along the conveyance direction of the recording medium 22. As a result, the effective distance for suppressing both ends of the recording medium becomes longer, and the adhesion in the transport direction of the recording medium 22 is further improved. For example, if the rollers 91 are arranged in one row before and after the suction start position at which the recording medium 22 is sucked to the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76, a total of two rows are arranged, and immediately after the suction starts, the suction is unstable due to the deflection of the recording medium 22 Even in this case, the close contact state is maintained before passing the second row of rollers 91, so that the suction force can be stabilized during that time.

Further, it is preferable that the suction of the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 is started within −0.2 seconds to +0.1 seconds after the last end 22 </ b> A of the recording medium 22 is suppressed by the rollers 91.

This is because when the suction starts at a stage where the contact area of the recording medium 22 to the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 is small, the ratio of the suction holes in the open state among the many suction holes formed on the outer peripheral surface increases. The force is reduced and the recording medium 22 cannot be reliably adsorbed. On the contrary, if it takes time until the suction starts after the rear end of the recording medium 22 is held down by the roller 91, the rear end 22A jumps up again from the outer peripheral surface due to the rigidity of the recording medium 22. There is a possibility that the end 22A cannot be adsorbed.

That is, the timing at which the rearmost end 22A of the recording medium 22 is in close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 by the roller 91 is preferably substantially the same as the timing at which suction is started, and is between −0.2 seconds and +0.1 seconds. Preferably there is. More preferably, it is adsorbed immediately after the contact-type restraining by the roller 91, and the time interval between +0.02 seconds and +0.05 seconds is more preferred immediately after the attracting start position immediately after the restraining position.

In addition, when the suction of the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 is started, the entire surface of the recording medium 22 is not sucked all at once, but the suction is performed stepwise from the downstream side in the conveyance direction of the recording medium 22 (the recording medium leading end side). It is preferable. By performing adsorption stepwise from the front end side of the recording medium 22, the air that has entered between the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 and the recording medium 22 is adsorbed while being pushed out toward the end 22 </ b> A side of the recording medium 22. It can be performed. As a result, the entire surface of the recording medium 22 can be adhered and adsorbed to the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76. In particular, stepwise adsorption is effective when the size of the recording medium 22 is large.

By the way, the roller 91 suppresses both ends of the recording surface on which the image is formed in contact with each other. Therefore, when the pressing by the roller 91 is applied to the drying unit 16, an image to be recorded on the recording medium 22 is recorded. There is a possibility that an offset occurs when there is no border (image formation on the entire recording surface). Therefore, in consideration of this, the roller 91 is preferably covered with a water repellent material, for example, a fluororesin. Thereby, the offset (transfer) when pressing both ends of the recording medium with the roller 91 can be prevented.

FIG. 5 shows a case where a plurality of the pair of rollers 91 shown in FIG. Here, the arrangement of the plurality of rollers 91 in a staggered manner means that the rollers 91 are alternately arranged on both left and right sides of the recording medium. More specifically, the shaft cores 81 of the pair of left and right rollers 91 disposed at both ends of the recording medium are displaced, and a plurality of rollers 91 that are displaced from the shaft core 81 are disposed in the conveyance direction of the recording medium 22. Say that. In this case, it is preferable that the intervals between the shaft cores 81 of the plurality of rollers 91 arranged on the left and right of the recording medium 22 are equal.

When the shaft cores 81 of the pair of left and right rollers 91 coincide with each other, the central portion of the recording medium 22 tends to bulge out when both ends of the recording medium 22 are suppressed, but a plurality of rollers 91 are arranged in a staggered manner. In this way, the bulge in the center can be avoided.

FIG. 6 shows the recording medium 22 when the plurality of rollers 91 are arranged in a zigzag pattern when the both ends of the recording medium 22 having a basis weight of 260 gsm are held down by the rollers 91 and when they are not arranged in a zigzag pattern. It is the test which investigated the swelling of the center part of. It is assumed that the recording medium 22 is conveyed in the direction of the arrow.

As can be seen from FIG. 6, in the test 4 in which the shaft cores 81 of the left and right rollers 91 are arranged to coincide with each other, the central portion of the recording medium 22 swells in a convex shape. As a result, the recording medium 22 may not be sufficiently adsorbed or wrinkles may occur.

On the other hand, in Test 5 in which the left and right rollers 91 are arranged in a staggered manner, the central portion of the recording medium 22 is prevented from bulging in a convex shape. However, as can be seen from the diagram of Test 5, if the arrangement pitch P (axial center distance) between the rollers 91 arranged on the left and right is too wide, the corner of the recording medium 22 where the rollers 91 do not exist (Test 5). Then the right corner) tends to jump up slightly. Therefore, as in Test 6, by reducing the diameter of the roller 91 to be used and reducing the arrangement pitch P, the jumping up can be eliminated. Although not shown in the figure, the same effect can be obtained when a belt or star wheel is used as the contact-type restraining means.

Note that it is preferable to arrange the rollers 91 in a plurality of rows in order to attract the recording medium 22. Therefore, it is preferable to reduce the arrangement pitch P as much as possible, but the arrangement pitch P is equal to or smaller than the diameter of the rollers 91. There is a risk of obstructing or interfering with the driven rotation between the adjacent rollers 91. Therefore, it is preferable that the arrangement pitch P is larger than the roller diameter and is as close as possible to the roller diameter.

FIG. 7 shows a case where a non-contact type holding means for holding the entire width of the recording medium 22 in a non-contact and linear manner is provided upstream of the roller 91 in the conveyance direction of the recording medium 22. Although FIG. 7 shows the case where the rollers 91 are arranged in a staggered manner, the present invention can be more preferably applied when the shaft core 81 is on the same line.

As the non-contact type holding means, a blowing means 93 including a blower 93A having a slot-like outlet formed over the entire width of the recording medium 22 can be suitably employed. The blower 93A is connected to a compressor or the like via a pipe 93B. In FIG. 7, the compressed air is sent from the compressor or the like to the blower 93A via a pipe. However, a fan may be provided in the blower 93A.

As described above, if the blower 93A is provided in the front stage of the roller 91, the recording medium 22 is moved by the next roller 91 in a state where the entire width of the recording medium 22 is brought into close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76 by the wind pressure from the blower 93A. The both ends of can be suppressed. Thereby, even if both ends of the recording medium 22 are held down by the rollers 91 having the left and right axial cores 81 on the same line, the central portion of the recording medium 22 can be prevented from bulging in a convex shape. In particular, when the basis weight of the recording medium 22 exceeds 300 gsm and the paper thickness increases, such a recording medium 22 is attracted to the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 75 with a lower suction pressure of less than 50 kPa. It cannot fully be solved that the center part of 22 bulges in convex shape. However, it can be reliably eliminated by providing the air blowing means 93 provided with the blower 93A.

In this case, as shown in FIG. 8, the wind direction of the blower 93 </ b> A is preferably arranged so as to blow in an oblique direction from the front end side to the rear end side in the conveyance direction of the recording medium 22. Thereby, the recording medium 22 can be made to follow the drying drum 76 and the pressing effect by wind can be improved. The blowing direction is preferably such that the angle θ formed by the wind direction and the normal 87 of the point where the wind contacts the recording medium 22 (or the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76) is 0 ° or more and 75 ° or less. An inclination exceeding the above range is not preferable because the suppressing effect is insufficient.

Further, if the blower 93A of the non-contact type holding means is used together with the roller 91 as the contact type holding means, it is not necessary to have a wind with a higher wind pressure than when the blower 93A is used alone. Even if wind is blown over the entire width of the recording medium 22, the image is not destroyed.

As shown in FIG. 7, the inside of the blower 93 </ b> A is divided into a plurality in the width direction of the recording medium 22, and it is preferable that an air pipe 93 </ b> B is provided for each of the divided parts. Each air pipe 93B is provided with an air flow rate adjustment valve 93C, and the air flow rate adjustment valve 93C is connected to the drive unit 152 of the transport system by a signal line or wirelessly.

Then, the drive unit 152 adjusts the opening degree of each air flow rate adjustment valve 93 </ b> C so that the wind pressure that blows to the center portion is stronger than the wind pressure that blows to both ends of the recording medium 22.

As described above, when the both ends in the width direction of the thick recording medium 22 are held down by the contact type holding by the roller 91, the central portion of the recording medium 22 is likely to bulge in a convex shape. Therefore, if the wind pressure blown to the central portion is made stronger than the wind pressure blown to both ends of the recording medium 22 from the blower 93A before the contact-type suppression with the roller 91, the central portion of the recording medium 22 is recessed. In this state, the roller 91 can be contact-type pressed. As a result, the recess formed in the central portion of the recording medium by the blower 93 </ b> A cancels out the convexity in the central portion of the recording medium that is swollen by the roller 91. As a result, the phenomenon that the central portion of the recording medium 22 swells in a convex shape can be more effectively avoided.

FIG. 9 shows that a pair of rollers 91 in which the left and right axis cores 81 coincide with each other are arranged in two rows in the conveyance direction of the recording medium 22, and the blower is placed before the both ends of the recording medium 22 having a basis weight of 260 gsm are suppressed. When 93A is not disposed (Test 7), when the blower 93A is disposed (Test 8), when the blower 93A is disposed and the wind pressure at the center of the recording medium 22 is made stronger than the wind pressure at both ends (Test 9) ), The bulge of the central portion of the recording medium 22 was examined.

As can be seen from FIG. 9, in the test 7 in which the blower 93 </ b> A is not arranged, the central portion of the recording medium 22 swells in a convex shape when being restrained by the roller 91. As a result, the adsorption of the recording medium 22 becomes insufficient or wrinkles occur.

On the other hand, in Test 8 in which the blower 93 </ b> A was disposed, the central portion of the recording medium 22 when being suppressed by the roller 91 was able to substantially avoid the swelling. In Test 9 in which the blower 93 </ b> A was arranged and the wind pressure at the center of the recording medium 22 was increased, the center of the recording medium 22 when the roller 91 was restrained could completely avoid the swelling. Although not shown in the figure, the same effect can be obtained when a belt or star wheel is used as the contact-type restraining means.

The wind pressure (pressing force) of the blower 93 </ b> A is preferably controlled by the rigidity of the recording medium 22. By controlling the wind pressure, image damage due to strong wind can be avoided.

Furthermore, it is preferable that the wind pressure (pressing force) of the blower 93 </ b> A can be adjusted by the position of the recording medium 22. For example, the wind pressure (pressing force) is increased as it goes to the rear end in the conveyance direction of the recording medium 22 or the air is blown only when the rear end of the recording medium 22 passes, and the air is not blown otherwise. Like that. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the time during which the image formed on the recording surface of the recording medium 22 is pressed by the wind pressure of the blower 93A and avoid unnecessary pressing, thereby reducing damage to the image. it can.

The wind speed by the blower 93A is preferably in the range of 5 to 200 [m / s]. When the wind speed is less than 5 [m / s], the wrinkle suppression effect of the recording medium 22 is insufficient, and when it is greater than 200 [m / s], the amount of ink applied to the image portion is large and is in an undried state. There is a concern that the image may be damaged by blowing. With respect to an image in a dry state, the air can be blown without any particular limitation.

The wind speed is measured by measuring the wind speed V [m / s] at a distance away from the outlet of the blower 93A by the distance from the recording medium surface. As an anemometer, for example, Anemo Master 6004 manufactured by Kanomax Co., Ltd. can be used.

Although the air volume (air flow rate) required for the blower 93A varies depending on the width and thickness of the recording medium 22, for example, 0.1-2 [m 3 / min] for the chrysanthemum half-size recording medium 22. The range of is preferable. The air volume is calculated from the measured wind speed using the following formula. The wind speed (air volume) can be adjusted by adjusting the pressure with a regulator if it is compressed air, or by controlling it with a blower input power source if it is a blower.

Q=V×A×60 [m/min]
Q:風量[m/min]、V:風速[m/s]、A:送風する面積[m
Q = V × A × 60 [m 3 / min]
Q: Air volume [m 3 / min], V: Wind speed [m / s], A: Air blowing area [m 2 ]
In FIG. 7 described above, the sending means has a simple configuration such as the blower 93A with the inside divided. For example, as shown in FIG. 10, a plurality of blowing nozzles 83 (nozzle width per piece: 50 mm). ) May be connected in the width direction of the recording medium 22. Moreover, if the desired wind speed (air volume) is obtained, the shape and material of the member are not particularly limited and can be used. However, regarding the material, when the blowing means is provided in the vicinity of the drying means, or as described below, when the drying means is also used, it is preferably a heat resistant material.

FIG. 10B is a diagram showing the shape of the nozzle opening 83a. FIG. 10B is a diagram in which a plurality of fine round holes (nozzle diameter: 1.2 mm) are arranged in the opening 83a, but the shape and size are not particularly limited, and in order to spray a wider area, The nozzle diameter of the opening 83a can be increased, and the shape is not limited to a round shape, but may be a rectangle.

Further, in order to make the wind pressure at the center of the recording medium 22 stronger than the wind pressure at both ends, the wind pressure (air volume) distribution can be changed for each nozzle. Further, when the size of the recording medium 22 is different, air can be blown only at a portion corresponding to the length of the recording medium 22 in the width direction. Incidentally, if wind is blown to the outer peripheral surface portion of the drying drum 76 through which the recording medium 22 does not pass, there is a risk that the wind will flow around the back surface of the recording medium 22 and the recording medium 22 may float or flutter.

Moreover, it is also possible to employ a configuration in which the angle θ shown in FIG. For example, when the rigidity of the recording medium 22 is low, the angle θ is increased by focusing on keeping the recording medium 22 along the curved surface of the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76. On the other hand, when the rigidity is high, the angle θ can be reduced by placing importance on the close contact of the recording medium 22 with the outer peripheral surface of the drying drum 76.

Further, the blower nozzle 83 may also serve as a drying means. That is, the blower nozzle 83 has a built-in heater, and drying can be performed by blowing hot air from the air nozzle toward the recording medium.

(Exposure cured part)
As shown in FIG. 1, the exposure curing unit 18 includes a UV lamp 88 and an inline sensor 90. The UV lamp 88 and the in-line sensor 90 are disposed at a position facing the peripheral surface of the exposure / curing drum 84, and are sequentially disposed from the upstream side in the rotation direction of the exposure / curing drum 84.

The exposure curing drum 84 is a drum that holds the recording medium 22 on its outer peripheral surface and rotates and conveys the recording medium 22, and is driven to rotate. Further, the exposure curing drum 84 is provided with a claw-shaped holding means 85 on its outer peripheral surface, and the holding means 85 can hold the leading end of the recording medium 22. The recording medium 22 is rotated and conveyed by rotating the exposure curing drum 84 in a state where the leading end is held by the holding unit 85. At that time, the recording surface of the recording medium 22 is conveyed so that it faces outward, and the recording surface is exposed and cured by the UV lamp 88 and inspected by the in-line sensor 90.

The UV lamp 88 irradiates the dried ink with UV light, whereby the actinic ray curable resin contained in the ink is cured and the ink is formed into a film. As the UV lamp 88, various ultraviolet light sources such as a metal halide lamp, a high-pressure mercury lamp, a black light, a cold cathode lamp, and a UV-LED can be used.

The peak wavelength of ultraviolet rays irradiated by the ultraviolet light source 190 is preferably 200 to 600 nm, more preferably 300 to 450 nm, and still more preferably 350 to 450 nm, although it depends on the absorption characteristics of the ink composition.

The irradiation energy of the ultraviolet light source 190, preferably 2000 mJ / cm 2 or less, more preferably from 10 to 2000 mJ / cm 2, more preferably from 20~1000mJ / cm 2, particularly preferably 50 to 800 mJ / Cm 2 .

In the ink jet recording apparatus of the present invention, it is appropriate to irradiate the recording surface of the recording medium with ultraviolet rays for 0.01 to 10 seconds, more preferably for 0.1 to 2 seconds.

Further, the exposure curing drum 84 may be controlled to a predetermined temperature. Thereby, the curing sensitivity of the ink can be improved, and the ink can be suitably cured and formed into a film with a low irradiation intensity.

On the other hand, the in-line sensor 90 is a measuring unit for measuring a check pattern, a moisture content, a surface temperature, a glossiness, and the like for an image fixed on the recording medium 22, and a CCD line sensor or the like is applied.

(Discharge part)
As shown in FIG. 1, a discharge unit 20 is provided following the exposure curing unit 18. The discharge unit 20 includes a discharge tray 92. Between the discharge tray 92 and the exposure curing drum 84 of the exposure curing unit 18, a transfer drum 94, a conveyance belt 96, and a stretching roller 98 are in contact with each other. Is provided. The recording medium 22 is sent to the transport belt 96 by the transfer drum 94 and discharged to the discharge tray 92.

(Intermediate transport section)
Next, the structure of the first intermediate transport unit 24 will be described. Note that the second intermediate conveyance unit 26 and the third intermediate conveyance unit 28 have the same configuration as the first intermediate conveyance unit 24, and a description thereof will be omitted.

The first intermediate transport unit 24 includes an intermediate transport body 30. The intermediate conveyance body 30 is a drum for receiving the recording medium 22 from the preceding drum, rotating and conveying it to the subsequent drum, and is rotatably attached. Further, the intermediate transport body 30 is rotated by a motor (not shown).

Claw-shaped holding means are provided at 90 ° intervals on the outer peripheral surface of the intermediate conveyance body 30. The holding unit rotates while drawing a circular locus, and the tip of the recording medium 22 is held by the operation of the holding unit. Accordingly, the recording medium 22 can be rotated and conveyed by rotating the intermediate conveyance body 30 with the holding means holding the tip of the recording medium 22. The recording surface of the recording medium may be conveyed in a non-contact manner by providing a plurality of air outlets on the surface of the intermediate carrier 30 and blowing out air from the air outlets.

The recording medium 22 transported by the first intermediate transport unit 24 is transferred to the subsequent drum (that is, the drawing drum 70). At this time, the recording medium 22 is delivered by synchronizing the holding means of the intermediate transport unit 24 and the holding means of the drawing unit 14. The transferred recording medium 22 is held and drawn by the drawing drum 70.

Further, the first intermediate transport unit 24 has a hot air drying means (drying means) (not shown) inside, and hot air is blown to the recording surface side of the recording medium facing inside during the transport to the surface. The applied treatment liquid may be dried.

Similarly, the second and third intermediate transport units 26 and 28 have hot air drying means (drying means) (not shown) inside, and hot air is applied to the recording surface side of the recording medium facing inside during transport. May be sprayed to dry the ink deposited on the surface.

The system controller 122 includes a central processing unit (CPU) and its peripheral circuits, and functions as a control device that controls the entire inkjet recording apparatus 1 according to a predetermined program, and also functions as an arithmetic device that performs various calculations. . The print control unit 124 has a signal processing function for performing various processes and corrections for generating a print control signal from the image data in the memory 144 under the control of the system controller 122, and the generated print. It is a control unit that supplies data (dot data) to the head driver 130. Necessary signal processing is performed in the print control unit 124, and the ejection amount and ejection timing of the ink droplets of the inkjet head 100 are controlled via the head driver 130 based on the image data. Thereby, a desired dot size and dot arrangement are realized.

The print control unit 124 includes an image buffer memory 148, and image data, parameters, and other data are temporarily stored in the image buffer memory 148 when image data is processed in the print control unit 124. In FIG. 7, the image buffer memory 148 is shown in a mode associated with the print control unit 124, but it can also be used as the memory 144. Also possible is an aspect in which the print control unit 124 and the system controller 122 are integrated to form a single processor.

An outline of the flow of processing from image input to print output is as follows. Image data to be printed is input from the outside via the communication interface 120 and stored in the memory 144. At this stage, for example, RGB image data is stored in the memory 144.

In the inkjet recording apparatus 1, a pseudo continuous tone image is formed by changing the droplet ejection density and dot size of fine dots with ink (coloring material) to the human eye. It is necessary to convert to a dot pattern that reproduces the gradation (shading of the image) as faithfully as possible. Therefore, the original image (RGB) data stored in the memory 144 is sent to the print control unit 124 via the system controller 122, and the print control unit 124 performs halftoning processing using a threshold matrix, an error diffusion method, or the like. Is converted into dot data for each ink color.

That is, the print control unit 124 performs a process of converting the input RGB image data into dot data of four colors K, C, M, and Y. Thus, the dot data generated by the print control unit 124 is stored in the image buffer memory 148.

The head driver 130 is a drive signal for driving the actuator 116 corresponding to each nozzle 102 of the inkjet head 100 based on print data (that is, dot data stored in the image buffer memory 148) given from the print control unit 124. Is output. The head driver 130 may include a feedback control system for keeping the head driving condition constant.

When the drive signal output from the head driver 130 is applied to the inkjet head 100, ink is ejected from the corresponding nozzle 102. An image is formed on the recording medium 22 by controlling the ink ejection from the inkjet head 100 while conveying the recording medium 22 at a predetermined speed.

<Recording medium>
The inkjet recording method of the present invention records an image on a recording medium.

The recording medium is not particularly limited, and general printing paper mainly composed of cellulose, such as so-called high-quality paper, coated paper, and art paper, used for general offset printing and the like can be used. General printing paper mainly composed of cellulose is relatively slow in ink absorption and drying in image recording by a general ink jet method using water-based ink, and color material movement is likely to occur after droplet ejection, and image quality is likely to deteriorate. However, according to the ink jet recording method of the present invention, it is possible to record a high-quality image excellent in color density and hue by suppressing the movement of the color material.

Among the recording media, so-called coated paper used for general offset printing is preferable. The coated paper is obtained by applying a coating material to the surface of high-quality paper, neutral paper, or the like that is mainly surface-treated with cellulose as a main component and is not surface-treated. The coated paper tends to cause quality problems such as image gloss and scratch resistance in image formation by ordinary aqueous inkjet, but in the inkjet recording method of the present invention, gloss unevenness is suppressed and gloss and resistance are reduced. An image having good rubbing properties can be obtained. In particular, a coated paper having a base paper and a coat layer containing an inorganic pigment is preferably used, and a coated paper having a base paper and a coat layer containing kaolin and / or calcium bicarbonate is more preferably used. Specifically, art paper, coated paper, lightweight coated paper, or finely coated paper is more preferable.

[Test A]
Test A in FIG. 12 shows the stability of suction conveyance when combining the suction of the recording medium 22 by the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum (for example, the drying drum 76) and the contact-type suppression of both ends of the recording medium by the rollers 91. Were tested using two types of recording media having different basis weights. In addition, it was tested how the blower 93 </ b> A was further arranged on the upstream side of the roller 91 and when it was not arranged.

(Test conditions)
As the recording medium 22 used for the test, two types of ibest W260gsm and 310gsm (manufactured by Nippon Daishowa Paperboard Co., Ltd.) were used. The eye vest W260gsm sets the suction pressure (at the time of adsorption) on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum 76 to 60 kPa, and the eye vest W310gsm performs the suction pressure (at the time of adsorption) at three levels of 60 kPa, 50 kPa, and 45 kPa. It was.

The stability evaluation of the suction conveyance was performed by examining the number of the recording mediums 22 that were normally sucked and conveyed when 100 recording media 22 were sucked and conveyed. Here, the normal adsorption means that the rear end 22A of the recording medium 22 bounces up, the central part of the recording medium 22 does not rise, and the entire surface of the recording medium 22 is adsorbed in close contact with the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum 76. Say that.

As can be seen from the table of FIG. 13, when the eye vest W having a basis weight of 260 gsm is adsorbed to the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum 76 with a suction pressure of 60 kPa and transported, all tests 1 to 11 are evaluated as good. became.

In the case where the thick eye vest W having a basis weight of 310 gsm is attracted to the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum 76 with a suction pressure of 60 kPa and conveyed, the evaluation is ○ to ◎ in Tests 1 to 11. No matter which condition is selected, there is no problem.

When the thick eye vest W having a basis weight of 310 gsm is sucked to the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum 76 with the suction pressure reduced to 50 kPa, the pair of coaxial core rollers is moved to 1 before the suction starts. Test 1 and Test 2 in which two or two rows were provided were evaluated as x. However, the test 8 in which the blower 93A, which is a non-contact type restraining means, was further provided in the test 1, and the evaluation was good up to a good evaluation.

When the thick eye vest W having a basis weight of 310 gsm is further sucked to the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum 76 with the suction pressure lowered to 45 kPa and conveyed, the evaluation is x in the condition of Test 1. However, the test 8 in which the blower 93A, which is a non-contact type restraining means, was further provided improved to the evaluation of Δ.

From the above results, a combination of adsorption by the rotating drum 76 and pressing by the roller 91 which is an example of the contact-type pressing means is at least necessary regardless of the basis weight of the recording medium 22. Then, as the basis weight of the recording medium 22 increases, the recording medium 22 can be stably adsorbed and conveyed by combining a blower 93A, which is an example of a non-contact type pressing means.

In particular, Test 11 is evaluated as ◎ even when the suction pressure is reduced to 45 kPa under the condition that the basis weight of the recording medium 22 is 310, and the capacity of the suction pump can be reduced, contributing to energy saving.

[Test B]
Test B in FIG. 14 is the setting of test 7 in FIG. 12, and the timing of holding down the rearmost end 22 </ b> A of the recording medium 22 with the roller 91 and the rearmost end of the recording medium 22 by the suction holes on the outer peripheral surface of the rotary drum 76. When the time difference (Δt seconds) from the adsorption start timing for starting the adsorption of the part 22A is changed as in the conditions 1-1 to 1-17, it was tested how the stability of the adsorption conveyance changes. .

The 評 価, ○, Δ, and × in the stability evaluation criteria for suction conveyance are the same as in the case of Test A.

The Δt of Condition 1-1 in the table of FIG. 14 means that the time difference from the suppression timing to the adsorption start timing is 0.4 seconds. Moreover, Δt of Condition 1-10 is −0.02 seconds, which means that adsorption is started before suppression, and that the timing interval is 0.02 seconds.

As can be seen from the test results in FIG. 14, when the suction pressure of the rotating drum is as large as 60 kPa, the rotating drum from the timing of suppression by the roller 91 in both the recording medium 22 having a basis weight of 260 gsm and the recording medium 22 having a basis weight of 310 gsm. The time difference Δt until the adsorption start timing by 76 was evaluated as ◎ between −0.4 seconds and +0.4 seconds.

However, when the basis weight is 310 gsm and the paper thickness is thick, and the suction pressure is lowered to 50 kPa or 45 kPa, the time difference Δt is closer to 0 seconds, that is, the timing for suppressing by the roller 91 and the timing for starting the suction by the rotating drum 76 are approximately. It can be seen that the suction conveyance becomes more stable at the same time. Specifically, it was evaluated as good when the time difference Δt was between −0.2 seconds and +0.1 seconds.

FIG. 15 shows the time difference Δt similarly examined in the setting of the test 11 in FIG. As a result, when the basis weight was 310 gsm, the paper thickness was thick, and the suction pressure was lowered to 50 kPa, the time difference Δt was evaluated as ○ to ◎ between −0.2 seconds and +0.1 seconds. Furthermore, it was evaluated as ◎ when the time difference Δt was between −0.1 seconds and +0.1 seconds.

Further, when the basis weight was 310 gsm, the paper thickness was large, and the suction pressure was lowered to 45 kPa, the time difference Δt was evaluated as 〜 to ◎ between −0.25 seconds and +0.1 seconds. Furthermore, it was evaluated as ◎ when the time difference Δt was between +0.02 seconds and +0.05 seconds.

In the test 11, in addition to the suction by the rotating drum 76 and the suppression by the roller 91, the blower 93A is provided, so that the suppression timing by the roller 91 and the suction start timing by the rotating drum 76 are reduced even if the suction pressure is reduced. It can be seen that good results of で can be obtained by controlling within an appropriate range.

From the above results, when the basis weight of the recording medium 22 and the suction pressure by the rotating drum 76 are taken into account, the time between the last end 22A of the recording medium 22 being suppressed by the roller 91 and −0.2 seconds to +0.1 seconds. It is preferable for the stable suction conveyance of the recording medium 22 to start the suction by the rotary drum 76 in the meantime.
