Description
Claims (19)
- 放射性同位体を製造または核廃棄物を処理する方法であって、
重水と、核分裂性物質を含むターゲット物質とからなる溶液を、遮蔽照射容器内に供給するステップと、
前記重水中に存在する重陽子の核と相互作用して、前記核分裂性物質を順次核分裂させる光中性子を生成するのに十分なエネルギーを有する制動放射光子を、前記溶液中に導入するステップと、を含む、
ことを特徴とする方法。 - さらに、電子線を発生するステップと、
X線変換素子に前記電子線を照射して、制動放射光子を生成するステップと、を含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記電子線のエネルギーは、約5〜30MeVの範囲にある、
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。 - 前記電子線のエネルギーは、約5〜約15MeVの範囲にある、
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の方法。 - 前記X線変換素子は、少なくとも原子番号26の元素から構成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。 - 前記X線変換素子は、少なくとも原子番号71の元素から構成される、
ことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の方法。 - 前記溶液には、未臨界量の核分裂性物質が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記溶液には、核分裂可能な物質が、追加のターゲット物質として含まれる。
ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。 - 前記溶液には、中性子捕獲物質が、追加のターゲット物質として含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。 - 前記核分裂性物質には、ウラン235が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。 - 前記核分裂性物質には、ウラン233が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。 - 前記核分裂性物質には、プルトニウム239が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。 - さらに、前記溶液から前記放射性同位体を回収するステップを含む、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記回収ステップには、濾過工程が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の方法。 - 前記回収ステップには、前記溶媒と吸着剤とを相互作用させる工程が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の方法。 - さらに、前記吸着剤を洗浄する工程が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項15に記載の方法。 - さらに、前記溶液をリサイクルする工程が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項13に記載の方法。 - 前記リサイクルステップには、前記溶液の化学物質を用いた処理、重水の添加、またはターゲット物質の添加が含まれる、
ことを特徴とする請求項17に記載の方法。 - 放射性同位体を製造または核廃棄物を処理する装置であって、
約5MeVから30MeVの範囲のエネルギーを有する電子線を発生する電子線発生装置(37)と、
前記電子線発生装置から、電子線を受けるように配置されるX線変換素子(32)と、
前記X線変換素子から、制動放射光子を受けるように配置されて、重水と核分裂性物質との溶液を含む遮蔽照射容器(36)と、から構成される、
ことを特徴とする装置。
