Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus and a control method thereof.
In recent years, with the advancement of video compression technology, digitization of broadcast radio waves has been attempted, and digital broadcasts that transmit digital television signals (hereinafter referred to as video signals) over broadcast radio waves are rapidly spreading. Digital broadcasting supports video signals ranging from a standard format having 480 effective scanning lines to a high definition format having 1080 lines. A broadcast receiving apparatus that supports digital broadcasting generally includes a display device that can display a video signal in a high-definition format at the resolution at the time of reception, and a video signal processing circuit that can process the video signal up to the high-definition format. .
On the other hand, in order to realize a high sense of realism, research on an ultra-high definition format in which the vertical and horizontal resolutions of the video are each four times higher than the high definition format is being pursued. Therefore, it is considered that video content with a resolution exceeding the high definition format will appear in the future.
A video signal with a resolution exceeding the high definition format can be processed by increasing the number of video signal processing circuits, for example. Further, processing can be performed by providing a dedicated processing circuit that reduces the resolution to a resolution that can be processed by the video signal processing circuit in advance.
However, these methods increase the processing circuit. A method of processing a video signal that exceeds the resolution that can be processed without increasing the number of processing circuits is disclosed in, for example,
However, the video signal processing circuit includes, for example, a circuit that extracts feature information of the entire screen, a filter circuit that performs processing on a plurality of lines, a video signal for one screen, or a video signal for a plurality of lines. Some circuits have to be processed using Such processing cannot be performed on the divided images. A method of calculating the feature information of the entire screen using a plurality of feature information obtained from each divided image can be considered, but there is a possibility that accurate feature information cannot be obtained by such a method. Therefore, there is a demand for a technique for accurately performing video signal processing (image processing) with a simple configuration regardless of the resolution of an input video signal.
An object of the present invention is to provide an image processing apparatus and a control method therefor that can perform image processing with high accuracy regardless of the resolution of an input video signal with a simple configuration.

According to the present invention, it is possible to provide an image processing apparatus and a control method thereof that can perform image processing with high accuracy regardless of the resolution of an input video signal with a simple configuration.
<実施例1>
Hereinafter, an image processing apparatus and a control method thereof according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. The image processing apparatus according to the present embodiment performs image processing on an input video signal (moving image data or still image data) and outputs the processed image signal to a display device.
<Example 1>
FIG. 1 is a block diagram illustrating an example of functions and configurations of the image processing apparatus according to the first embodiment of the present invention. The image processing apparatus according to this embodiment includes an

Next, the operation of the image processing apparatus according to the present embodiment will be described in detail with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
FIG. 2A is a flowchart showing a processing flow of the image processing apparatus when a video signal having a resolution equal to or lower than the high definition format is input.

Note that when an image having a resolution of a high definition format or lower is input, the video signal held in the
Note that if the resolution conversion process is performed on an interlaced video signal, the correlation between the line positions in the odd and even fields is lost. Since deinterlace processing cannot be performed on such a video signal whose correlation has been broken, in FIG. 2A, deinterlace processing is performed prior to resolution conversion processing.
In FIG. 2A, noise removal processing is performed prior to deinterlacing processing (noise removal processing is also effective for video signals input in progressive format). Thereby, it is possible to avoid erroneous determination due to noise when performing motion determination in the deinterlacing process.
Further, since the feature (feature information) of the video signal is used for the noise removal process, the feature extraction process is performed prior to the noise removal process in FIG.
FIG. 2B is a flowchart showing a processing flow of the image processing apparatus when a video signal having a resolution higher than that of the high definition format is input. The video signal having a resolution higher than that of the high definition format is assumed to be a progressive format video signal such as an ultra high definition format or a digital cinema.

According to the present embodiment, it is determined whether or not the resolution of the input video signal is a resolution that can be processed by the image processing unit, and the processing order is changed according to the determination result. Image processing can be performed with high accuracy regardless of the resolution of the input video signal. For example, it is possible to accurately perform image processing with a simple configuration on a video signal having a resolution exceeding the processing capability of the image processing unit.
<実施例2>
カードに格納されている静止画像データは、一般に、JPEG(Joint Photographic Experts Group)のような符号化方式により圧縮されている。
<Example 2>
In the first embodiment, a video signal having a resolution exceeding the processing capability of the image processing unit, such as a video signal of an ultra-high definition format or a digital cinema, can be processed by changing the processing order of the image processing unit. The image processing apparatus has been described.
Currently, moving image data is rarely input as a video signal exceeding the processing capability of the image processing unit, and such a video signal is often still image data. For example, as an imaging device such as a digital camera, a device that generates still image data exceeding 20 million pixels has appeared.
In addition, still image data generated by the imaging apparatus is often supplied via a memory card such as an SD (Secure Digital) card or a CF (Compact Flash) card. Still image data stored in a memory card is generally compressed by an encoding method such as JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group). Therefore, in order to display still image data on a display device, it is necessary to perform decompression processing (decoding processing), and the decompression processing takes time. In a conventional display device (image processing device), processing for still image data input later can be started until expansion processing and reduction processing (resolution conversion processing) of the still image data input earlier is completed. There wasn't. Therefore, when the viewer (user) repeatedly instructs to display still image data, the viewer (user) has to wait for the processing for the still image data specified previously to be completed. The slow response to such an instruction may amplify the user's stress. Therefore, a technique for performing high-speed processing on still image data is desired.
Therefore, in the present embodiment, an image processing apparatus capable of obtaining the same effect as in the first embodiment and processing a still image at high speed will be described.

Next, the operation of the image processing apparatus according to this embodiment will be described.
The flow of processing when moving image data is input to the image processing apparatus is the same as the processing in FIG. That is, after the
When still image data is input to the image processing apparatus, after the

When the resolution conversion process for one piece of still image data is completed, the

According to the present embodiment, the processing order is changed depending on whether the input video signal is moving image data or still image data, and the input video signal is independent of the resolution of the input video signal. Image processing can be performed with high accuracy. For example, the resolution of still image data generated by the imaging device often exceeds the processing capability of the image processing unit, but according to the present embodiment, an image can be obtained with a simple configuration for such still image data. Processing can be performed with high accuracy.

As described above, according to the image processing apparatus and the control method thereof according to the present embodiment, the processing order is changed according to the input video signal, and the resolution depends on the resolution of the input video signal.
