Description

The present invention relates to a display device having a display unit including a liquid crystal panel and a backlight unit.

In recent years, display devices using TFT-type liquid crystal panels and STN-type liquid crystal panels have been commercialized mainly in color notebook PCs (personal computers) in the OA field, for example.
Such a display device employs a so-called backlight system in which a light source is arranged on the back side of the liquid crystal panel and the liquid crystal panel is illuminated with light from the light source.
The backlight units used in this type of backlight system can be broadly divided into multiple light sources such as cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) within a flat light guide plate made of acrylic resin with excellent light transmission. There are a “light guide plate light guide method” (so-called edge light method) and a “direct type method” that does not use a light guide plate.

As a display device on which a light guide plate light guide type backlight unit is mounted, for example, the one shown in FIG. 19 is generally known.
This display device includes a liquid crystal panel 72 sandwiched between polarizing plates 71 and 73, and a light guide plate 79 made of a transparent base material such as a substantially rectangular plate-like PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate) or acrylic on the back side thereof. A diffusion film (diffusion layer) 78 is provided between the upper surface (light emitting side) of the light guide plate 79 and the polarizing plate 73 on the rear side.
On the back side of the light guide plate 79, a scattering reflection pattern portion (not shown) is printed for scattering and reflecting the light introduced into the light guide plate 79 so as to be uniform in the direction of the liquid crystal panel 72. A reflective film (reflective layer) 77 is provided on the back side of the scattering reflection pattern portion. Further, a light source lamp 76 is attached to one side end of the light guide plate 79, and further covers the back side of the light source lamp 76 in order to make the light of the light source lamp 76 enter the light guide plate 79 efficiently. In this way, the lamp reflector 81 having a high reflectance is provided. The scattering reflection pattern portion is formed by printing a mixture obtained by mixing white titanium dioxide (TiO2) powder in a transparent adhesive or the like in a predetermined pattern, for example, a dot pattern, and drying and forming it. The directivity is given to the light incident on the light, and the light is guided to the light exit surface side, thereby increasing the brightness.

Recently, as shown in FIG. 20, a prism film (prism) having a light condensing function is provided between the diffusion film 78 and the liquid crystal panel 72 in order to improve the light utilization efficiency and increase the luminance. It has been proposed to provide layers 74, 75. The prism films 74 and 75 are configured to collect light emitted from the light exit surface of the light guide plate 79 and diffused by the diffusion film 78 on the effective display area of the liquid crystal panel 72 with high efficiency.

On the other hand, the direct type backlight unit uses a display device such as a large-sized liquid crystal TV in which it is difficult to use a light guide plate. As an example using this backlight unit, for example, a display as shown in FIG. Devices are generally known.
In this display device, a liquid crystal panel 72 sandwiched between polarizing plates 71 and 73 is provided, and a light source 51 including a fluorescent tube is provided on the back side thereof. And the light radiate | emitted from the light source 51 is diffused by the diffusion film 82, and is condensed on the effective display area of the liquid crystal panel 72 with high efficiency. In order to efficiently use the light from the light source 51 as illumination light, a reflector 52 is disposed on the back surface of the light source 51.

Further, in such a direct type backlight unit, in order to increase the front luminance, as shown in FIG. 22, a brightness enhancement film 86 (Brightness Enhancement Film: BEF, registered by 3M Corporation in the United States) is provided on the diffusion film 85 as shown in FIG. Trademarks) are disposed, and as shown in FIG. 23, a diffusion film 82 is disposed thereon (see, for example, Patent Documents 1 to 3).

The BEF is a film in which unit prisms having a triangular cross-section are periodically arranged in one direction on a transparent member, and a unit prism having a size (pitch) larger than the wavelength of light is adopted. ing. The BEF collects light from “off-axis” and redirects or “recycles” the light “on-axis” toward the viewer. " “On-axis” is a direction that coincides with the visual direction of the observer, and is generally on the normal direction side with respect to the display screen. The BEF increases the on-axis brightness by reducing the off-axis brightness in this way.
When such a BEF is used alone, the repetitive array structure of unit prisms is arranged in only one direction, so that only the direction change or recycling in the parallel direction is possible. Therefore, in order to control the luminance of the display light in the horizontal and vertical directions, generally, two sheets are combined and used so that the parallel directions of the unit prism groups are substantially orthogonal to each other.

In the light control sheet using the BEF as a brightness control member as described above, the light from the light source is refracted and emitted at a controlled angle so as to increase the light intensity in the visual direction of the observer. By adopting this for the backlight unit, it is possible to achieve a desired on-axis brightness while reducing power consumption.

In recent years, the tendency to reduce the diffusibility of the antiglare film disposed on the surface has been prominent in order to improve the contrast in the bright place of the display device or reduce the blur of the image. Along with this, moire and glare caused by the periodicity between the lens and the liquid crystal panel are likely to occur. Therefore, as a method of reducing the moire, a liquid crystal panel, a diffusion sheet, a light control sheet in which concave and convex portions are arranged, and a backlight unit are arranged as viewed from the observer side, and the concave and convex arrangement pitch of the light control sheet and the liquid crystal are arranged. A method has been proposed in which the ratio between the pixel pitch of the panel and the ratio between the haze ratio and the light transmittance of the diffusion sheet are set to suitable values (see Patent Document 4).
Japanese Patent Publication No. 1-378001 JP-A-6-102506 Japanese National Patent Publication No. 10-506500 JP 2007-11292 A

However, in the display device shown in FIG. 19, since the control of the viewing angle depends only on the diffusibility of the diffusing film 78, the control is difficult, and the central part in the front direction of the display is bright and becomes darker toward the peripheral part. The phenomenon of becoming is inevitable. For this reason, there is a problem that the luminance is greatly lowered when the liquid crystal screen is viewed from the side, and the light use efficiency is lowered.

Further, in the apparatus using the prism film illustrated in FIG. 20, two prism films are required, so that not only the light amount is greatly reduced due to absorption of the film, but also the production cost increases due to an increase in members. It was.

On the other hand, even when the BEF is used as described above, there are unexpected light rays that are wasted in the lateral direction without proceeding in the visual direction of the observer. The light intensity distribution is ideally a smooth convex shape having no light intensity peak around ± 90 ° as shown by the solid line A in FIG. 24, but from the light control sheet using this BEF. In the emitted light intensity distribution, as shown by the broken line B in FIG. 24, a small light intensity peak is recognized around ± 90 ° from the front. This indicates that light (side lobes) emitted from the lateral direction is increased, which is not preferable in terms of the characteristics of the light control sheet.

Further, even if the ratio between the uneven arrangement pitch of the light control sheet and the pixel pitch of the liquid crystal panel and the ratio of the haze ratio and the light transmittance of the diffusion sheet are specified as appropriate values as in Patent Document 4, moire is completely achieved. It is necessary to use a diffusion film having a strong scattering property in order to reduce more effectively.

In recent years, the market needs for display devices have been urgently required to reduce the environmental load by reducing power consumption, lowering the cost, and reducing the amount of resources used while maintaining display quality. Reduction of points is required. Furthermore, since the panel transmittance of the liquid crystal panel of the color display device is much lower than that of a monochrome display device, it is essential to improve the luminance of the backlight unit in order to obtain low power consumption of the device itself. .

The present invention has been made in view of such problems, and can reduce the number of parts, increase the light use efficiency and brightness, and effectively reduce side lobes and moire. It is an object of the present invention to provide a possible display device.

In order to solve the above problems, the following means are proposed.
That is, the display device according to the present invention is a display device having a backlight unit that emits light from a light source through a light control sheet, and a display unit that displays an image by light irradiation from the backlight unit. A lens protective layer having a concavo-convex structure with an average interval Sm is formed on the light incident surface of the polarizing plate provided on the back side of the display unit as viewed from the user side, and the light control sheet has a plurality of light emitting surfaces on the light emitting surface. A light control structure comprising irregularities, the light control structure comprising a nearest periodic structure that is a periodic structure closest to the lens protective layer, and a farthest periodic structure that is a periodic structure farthest from the lens protective layer; The average interval Sm is in the range of 80 μm ≦ Sm ≦ 250 μm, and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure is in the range of 10 μm ≦ P1 ≦ 200 μm These average interval Sm and the close-packed interval P1 is characterized by satisfying the relation of 0.4 ≦ Sm / P1 ≦ 25.

In the display device having such a feature, the light control sheet has a periodic structure composed of the most recent periodic structure and the farthest periodic structure, so that the light use efficiency and the luminance can be increased and the side lobe is reduced. It becomes possible to make it.
Here, when the average interval Sm is less than 80 μm, the scattering effect due to the non-periodic structure is too strong, resulting in loss of light and a decrease in luminance. When the average interval Sm exceeds 250 μm, the scattering effect due to the non-periodic structure is present. Moire occurs due to the decrease.
Further, when the closest density P1 is less than 10 μm, a color phenomenon occurs due to a diffraction phenomenon, and when the closest density P1 exceeds 200 μm, moire occurs.
Further, when Sm / P1 exceeds 25, the relative ratio between the average interval Sm of the concavo-convex structure and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure (the interval at which the nearest periodic structure is the densest) becomes large, so As a result, the scatter effect is reduced, and moire interference fringes are generated between the light control structure of the light control sheet and the periodic structure of the display unit. On the other hand, when Sm / P1 is less than 0.4, color unevenness due to light diffraction may occur.
In this regard, in the display device according to the present invention, the relationship of 80 μm ≦ Sm ≦ 250 μm, 10 μm ≦ P1 ≦ 200 μm, and 0.4 ≦ Sm / P1 ≦ 25 is satisfied, so that moire interference is prevented while maintaining high luminance. In addition, color unevenness can be suppressed.

In the display device according to the present invention, the light control structure is configured such that the extension direction of the nearest periodic structure and the extension direction of the farthest periodic structure are substantially in the same direction. Features.

According to the display device having such a feature, the direction in which the refraction and reflection of light by the nearest periodic structure and the farthest periodic structure work most greatly (the direction perpendicular to each longitudinal direction) is substantially the same. Therefore, when the display device is viewed in plan from the viewer side, it is possible to increase the light collection effect in any position direction.

Further, in the display device in which the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure and the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure are substantially the same direction, the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure and the farthest periodic structure The pitch P2 satisfies the relationship of 0.05 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 1.0.

When P1 / P2 exceeds 1.0, there arises a problem that the light collecting effect is lowered. On the other hand, when P1 / P2 is less than 0.05, the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure becomes too small, and the function of the nearest periodic structure cannot be achieved.
In this respect, in the present invention, since the relationship of 0.05 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 1.0 is satisfied, it is possible to exhibit the function of the latest periodic structure while preventing the occurrence of moire interference.

On the other hand, in the display device according to the present invention, the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure and the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure intersect at an angle α on the exit surface of the light control sheet. May be. At this time, the angle α is preferably about 90 °.
Thereby, since the condensing function can be exhibited in two directions, the condensing effect can be further improved.

Furthermore, in this display device, it is preferable that the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure and the pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structure satisfy 0.05 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 2.0.

When P1 / P2 exceeds 2.0, there arises a problem that the light condensing effect is lowered. On the other hand, when P1 / P2 is less than 0.05, the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure becomes too small, and the function of the nearest periodic structure cannot be achieved.
In this respect, in the present invention, since the relationship of 0.05 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 2.0 is satisfied, the function of the latest periodic structure can be exhibited while preventing the occurrence of moire interference.

According to the display according to the present invention, by providing a lens protective layer having a concavo-convex structure with an average interval Sm on the display unit and forming a light control structure having a nearest periodic structure and a farthest periodic structure on the light control sheet. Even without providing additional components, it is possible to increase the light use efficiency and brightness, and to effectively reduce side lobes and moire, and to provide a display device with low cost and excellent optical performance. It becomes possible.

Hereinafter, a display device according to a first embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
As shown in FIG. 1, the display device 27 according to the first embodiment is configured such that a display unit (screen display unit) 21 is superimposed on a backlight unit 13 that irradiates light to an observer side F. The liquid crystal display device displays a planar image by emitting display light whose display is controlled by an image signal from the display unit 21 toward the observer side F. In the following, the upper direction in FIG. 1 is referred to as the emission surface side or the observer side F, and the lower direction is referred to as the back surface side.

In addition, the display device 27 is a liquid crystal display device including the display unit 21. However, if the display device 27 includes at least the backlight unit 13, the backlight unit 13 such as a projection screen device, a plasma display, and an EL display is used. The type of the image display unit that displays an image using light from the display light as display light is not limited.
Furthermore, the phase difference film for compensating the phase difference of the display unit 21 may be provided.

The backlight unit 13 is configured by arranging a reflection plate 43, a light source 41, a diffusion plate 25, and a light control sheet 1 in order from the back side.

The light source 41 is a light source used for image display of the display unit 21. As the light source 41 in the present embodiment, a linear light source such as a thin rod-shaped cold cathode tube is used.
The light source 41 is not limited to such a cold cathode tube, and may be any other light source as long as it is a linear light source. That is, in addition to a cold cathode tube, for example, a normal fluorescent tube, a hot cathode tube, an external electrode tube, a mercury-less rare gas fluorescent lamp, a light emitting diode (hereinafter referred to as an LED) arranged in a row, a semiconductor laser, etc. Can be used as a light source, and it is particularly preferable to use an external electrode tube or a light emitting diode arranged in a line.
Further, an LED light source using a cylindrical or prismatic transparent light guide having a length equivalent to the parallel groove of the light guide plate and LEDs arranged on the top and bottom surfaces of the light guide is used as the light source 41. Also good. This LED light source is configured such that LED light can be incident from the top and bottom surfaces of the light guide, and the LED light can be emitted from the side surfaces of the light guide.

In the present embodiment, the linear light sources as the light source 41 as described above are arranged in parallel at equal intervals, and the distance between the centers of the adjacent linear light sources is preferably 15 mm to 150 mm, preferably 20 mm to More preferably, it is 60 mm. Thereby, the power consumption of the direct type backlight device can be reduced, the assembly of the device can be facilitated, and the luminance unevenness of the light emitting surface can be suppressed.
In addition, the distance between the centers of the line light sources is uniform in all places as described above, or may be changed partially non-uniformly. An example of this is one in which the distance between point light sources is narrowed at the center of the direct type backlight device.

In the case where the light source 41 is a line light source, the number thereof is not particularly limited. For example, when the display device 27 is 32 inches, the number of line light sources can be, for example, an even number such as 16, 14, 12, 8, or the like, or any other odd number.

Further, the light source 41 is not limited to the linear light source as described above, but may be a point light source. As the point light source, an LED that does not use mercury and has high luminous efficiency is preferable.
In FIG. 2A, a blue LED element 50 that emits blue light used in a mobile device such as a mobile phone is covered with an LED lens 53, and the inner spherical surface of the LED lens 53 emits yellow light. The phosphor 51 is coated. As a result, the white LED 46 of the type that emits pseudo white light is obtained.
This method has an advantage that pseudo white light emission can be realized simply by covering the phosphor with a single-color LED element. Further, the emission colors of the LED and the phosphor are not limited to those described above, and may be in other forms as long as one single-color LED element is covered with at least one kind of phosphor.

FIG. 2B shows a white LED 46 in which a prism shape 54 is added to the LED lens 53 of FIG. By using the prism shape 54, the light distribution of the light emitted from the white LED 46 can be adjusted.

FIG. 2C shows a method of emitting pseudo white light by combining LED elements (red LED element 48, green LED element 49, blue LED element 50) that emit light of a single color as another method of LEDs emitting pseudo white light. It is. In this case, compared with the case of FIG. 2A as described above, the problem that the phosphor 51 deteriorates due to the heat generated from the LED elements can be avoided, and any color can be achieved by adjusting the light quantity of each LED element. Can be obtained.

図3は、単色に発光する単色LED(赤色LED54、緑色LED55、青色LED56)を組み合わせて点光源ユニット52として構成したものである。
FIG. 3 shows a point light source unit 52 formed by combining single color LEDs (red LED 54, green LED 55, blue LED 56) that emit light in a single color. In this case, the red LED 54, the green LED 55, and the blue LED 56 may be combined one by one as shown in FIG. 3B to constitute the point light source unit 52, or the light output is weak as shown in FIG. 3C. A plurality of (for example, green LEDs 55) may be arranged to constitute the point light source unit 52.
By configuring this point light source unit 52, it is possible to perform color display using a field sequential method in which LEDs of each color are colored in a time-sharing manner.
In the point light source unit 52, the number of LEDs is not limited. When a plurality of the point light source units 52 are arranged, the intensity of the color is partially increased if the light emission colors of the adjacent point light source units 52 are the same, and are recognized as color unevenness from the observer side. It is preferable that the light source units 52 have different emission colors.

The point light source is not limited to the above-described LED. For example, as shown in FIG. 4, the light of a monochromatic semiconductor laser (red semiconductor laser 57, green semiconductor laser 58, blue semiconductor laser 59) May be mixed and emitted from the semiconductor laser lens 61. In addition, the point light source may be a normal fluorescent lamp or a halogen lamp.

Further, the light source 41 as the above-described point light source may be divided and driven for each arrangement location. Accordingly, the light source 41 at the arrangement location corresponding to the place where the bright image is displayed is caused to emit light, and the plateau 41 at the arrangement location corresponding to the place where the dark image is displayed is turned off or the amount of light emission is reduced. It becomes larger and the contrast can be increased.

Next, an arrangement mode of a plurality of point light sources will be described. FIG. 5 is a plan view schematically showing the arrangement of a plurality of point light sources 41b or point light source units 52. As shown in FIG.
As shown in FIG. 5A, the first mode in which a plurality of point light sources 41b or point light source units 52 are arranged is arranged at predetermined intervals in a matrix along the vertical and horizontal directions of the backlight unit 13. The configuration is as follows.
Further, as a second mode, as shown in FIG. 5 (b), the point light source 41b in FIG. 5 (a) or C1-C4 of the point light source unit 52 is removed, that is, four squares. The point light source 41b or the point light source unit 52 is arranged at each vertex, and the point light source 41b or the point light source unit 52 is arranged at the intersection of the rectangular diagonal lines.
Further, as a third aspect, as shown in FIG. 5 (c), a point light source 41b or a point light source unit 52 is arranged at each vertex of a honeycomb structure in which regular hexagons are continuously formed. can do. Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 5D, the point light source 41b or the point light source unit 52 may be arranged linearly.
In the above aspects, the distance between the point light source 41b or the point light source unit 52 may be uniform in all places, or may be partially changed. As an example of this, there is one in which the distance between the point light sources is narrowed at the center of the backlight unit 13 or the like.

Moreover, it is preferable that the distance between the centers of the light source 41 as an adjacent point light source is 15 mm-150 mm, and it is more preferable that it is 20 mm-60 mm. By setting this range, the power consumption of the backlight unit 13 can be reduced, the assembly of the device can be facilitated, and the luminance unevenness of the light emitting surface can be suppressed.

A part of the light emitted from the light source 41 is incident on and reflected by the reflector 43 installed so as to cover the light source 41 from the back side. The reflection plate 43 may be formed of any material as long as it can reflect light from the light source 41. For example, a filler or air is kneaded and stretched in PET, PP (polypropylene), or the like. Resin sheet with increased reflectivity by forming voids, a sheet with a mirror surface formed by vapor deposition of aluminum on the surface of a transparent or white resin sheet, a resin sheet carrying a metal foil or metal foil such as aluminum, or sufficient on the surface It can be formed of a thin metal plate having excellent reflectivity.

A part of the light emitted from the light source 41 and the light reflected by the reflecting plate 43 are incident on the incident surface of the diffusing plate 25.
In addition, when a linear light source is employ | adopted as the light source 41, it is installed so that the dimension of the shortest distance of the entrance plane of the diffuser plate 25 and the center position of a linear light source may be 2 mm-30 mm or less, and it is 5 mm-25 mm. Is more preferable.
When the point light source 41b or the point light source unit 52 is adopted as the light source 41, the dimension of the shortest distance between them and the incident surface of the diffusion plate takes into consideration the thickness of the direct type backlight device and the uniformity of brightness. However, it is preferably 1 mm to 30 mm, more preferably 3 mm to 25 mm. As a result, luminance unevenness can be reduced, a reduction in luminous efficiency of the point light source can be prevented, and the thickness of the entire backlight 13 can be reduced.

The diffusion plate 25 is a substantially plate-like member formed by dispersing light diffusion regions in transparent resin. The diffusion plate 25 transmits light from the light source 41 to the uneven structure of the incident surface of the diffusion plate 25 and the diffusion plate 25. Diffusion is caused by the refractive index difference between the internal diffusion region and the transparent resin, and the uneven structure of the exit surface of the diffusion plate 25.

As the transparent resin constituting the diffusion plate 25, a thermoplastic resin, a thermosetting resin, or the like can be used. For example, a polycarbonate resin, an acrylic resin, a fluorine acrylic resin, a silicone acrylic resin, an epoxy acrylate resin, Polystyrene resin, cycloolefin polymer, methylstyrene resin, fluorene resin, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene, acrylonitrile polystyrene copolymer, etc. are used.

また、樹脂からなる透明粒子としては、アクリル粒子、スチレン粒子、スチレンアクリル粒子及びその架橋体、メラミン−ホルマリン縮合物の粒子、PTFE(ポリテトラフルオロエチレン)、PFA(ペルフルオロアルコキシ樹脂)、FEP(テトラフルオロエチレン−ヘキサフルオロプロピレン共重合体)、PVDF(ポリフルオロビニリデン)、及びETFE(エチレン−テトラフルオロエチレン共重合体)等のフッ素ポリマー粒子、シリコーン樹脂粒子などを用いることができる。
Moreover, it is preferable that the light-diffusion area | region disperse | distributed to this transparent resin consists of light-diffusion particle | grains from which suitable diffusion performance can be obtained easily.
As the light diffusing particles, transparent particles made of an inorganic oxide or a resin can be used. As the transparent particles made of an inorganic oxide, for example, silica, alumina or the like can be used. The transparent particles made of resin include acrylic particles, styrene particles, styrene acrylic particles and crosslinked products thereof, melamine-formalin condensate particles, PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), PFA (perfluoroalkoxy resin), FEP (tetrafluoroethylene). Fluoropolymer particles such as fluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer), PVDF (polyfluorovinylidene), and ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer), silicone resin particles, and the like can be used.
Moreover, you may use combining 2 or more types of transparent particles from the transparent particle described previously. Furthermore, the size and shape of the transparent particles are not particularly defined.

When the light diffusing particles are used as the light diffusing region, the thickness of the diffusing plate 25 is preferably 0.1 to 5 mm.
When the thickness of the diffusion plate 25 is 0.1 to 5 mm, optimum diffusion performance and brightness can be obtained. On the other hand, when the thickness is less than 0.1 mm, the diffusion performance is insufficient.

In addition, when a thermoplastic resin is used as the transparent resin, bubbles formed in the thermoplastic resin may be used as the light diffusion region. The inner surface of the bubbles causes diffused reflection of light, and a light diffusing function equal to or higher than that when light diffusing particles are dispersed can be exhibited. Thereby, the film thickness of the diffusion plate 25 can be further reduced.
Moreover, white PET, white PP, etc. are also employable as a light diffusible area | region. White PET is obtained by dispersing a resin incompatible with PET, fillers such as titanium oxide (TiO2) and barium sulfate (BaSO4) in PET, and then stretching the PET by a biaxial stretching method. It is formed by generating bubbles around the filler.
In addition, the diffusion plate 25 should just be extended | stretched by at least 1 axial direction. This is because if it is stretched in at least one axial direction, bubbles can be generated around the filler.

Examples of the thermoplastic resin include polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene-2, 6-naphthalate, polypropylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, cyclohexanedimethanol copolymer polyester resin, isophthalic acid copolymer polyester resin, and spiroglycol copolymer polyester. Resins, polyester resins such as fluorene copolymer polyester resins, polyolefin resins such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polymethylpentene, and alicyclic olefin copolymer resins, acrylic resins such as polymethyl methacrylate, polycarbonate, polystyrene, polyamide, polyether , Polyester amide, polyetherester, polyvinyl chloride, cycloolefin polymer, acrylonitrile polystyrene copolymer Copolymers to the body and these as a component, or the like can be used a mixture of these resins are not particularly limited.

Here, when the thickness of the diffusion plate 25 is less than 25 μm, the diffusion plate 25 itself is not sufficiently strained and wrinkles are likely to occur in the manufacturing process and display, which is not preferable. Further, when the thickness of the diffusion plate 25 exceeds 500 μm, there is no particular problem in optical performance. However, since the rigidity is increased, problems such as difficulty in processing into a roll shape and inability to easily form a slit occur. Therefore, the thickness of the diffusion plate 25 is preferably formed in the range of 25 to 500 μm. Preferably there is.

Furthermore, an uneven shape (not shown) may be formed on the surface of the diffusion plate 25. With this uneven shape, the light emitted from the diffusion plate 25 can be diffused to further improve the uniformity of the light. In this case, the concavo-convex shape is preferably a prism shape or a lens shape having a center line average roughness Ra of 3 μm to 1,000 μm. In the case of the prism shape, the prism shape is preferably polygonal, and the prism apex angle is preferably 40 ° to 170 °, and the prism pitch is more preferably 20 μm to 700 μm. The prism shape may be a pyramid shape or a truncated pyramid shape. The uneven shape described above may be changed in accordance with the illuminance or luminance of light incident on the uneven shape. For example, in the region where the illuminance or luminance of light incident on the uneven shape is large, the prism tops described above may be used. You may make a corner small.
The uneven shape may be formed on a matte surface such as a satin finish.
Furthermore, the total light transmittance of the diffusion plate 25 in this case is preferably 40% or more and 98% or less, the haze is preferably 20% to 100%, and the water absorption is preferably 0.25% or less.

The diffusion member 25 having such a configuration can be manufactured by using a known technique such as a co-extrusion molding method, an injection molding method, a heat press method, a cast polymerization method, or the like.
In addition, as a method for forming the uneven shape on the diffusion plate 25, during the formation of the diffusion plate 25 by the above-described coextrusion forming method or injection molding method, pressure is applied to the mold for forming the uneven shape. Uneven shape can be transferred. Alternatively, the concavo-convex shape can be formed on the entrance surface or the exit surface of the diffusion plate 25 using a radiation curable resin such as a UV curable resin. For example, the diffusion plate 25 can be formed as a plate-like member by a coextrusion method. After molding, the concave and convex shape can be formed by UV molding on the incident surface or the emission surface of the diffusion plate 25.

ここで透光性フィルムとしては、PET(ポリエチレンテレフタレート)、PP(ポリプロピレン)、PC(ポリカーボネート)PMMA(ポリメチルメタクリレート)、ベンジルメタクリレートやMS樹脂、その他のアクリル系樹脂、あるいはCOP(シクロオレフィンポリマー)等の光学的に透明な部材を使用するのが好ましい。
またはPET(ポリエチレンテレフタレート)、PC(ポリカーボネート)、PMMA(ポリメチルメタクリレート)、COP(シクロオレフィンポリマー)、PAN(ポリアクリロニトリル共重合体)、AS(アクリロニトリルスチレン共重合体)等を用いて、当該技術分野では良く知られている押し出し成形法、射出成型法、あるいは熱プレス成型法によって形成してもよい。
Alternatively, a film having a concavo-convex shape may be formed as a separate body, and the concavo-convex shape may be formed by attaching the film to the diffusion plate 25 via a bonding layer made of an adhesive or an adhesive material.
Examples of the method for producing a film having an uneven shape include a molding method using UV or radiation curable resin (a type is not particularly limited as long as the resin includes a material curable by UV or radiation) on a translucent film. . Here, as the translucent film, PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PP (polypropylene), PC (polycarbonate) PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), benzyl methacrylate, MS resin, other acrylic resins, or COP (cycloolefin polymer) It is preferable to use an optically transparent member such as.
Alternatively, the technology using PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PC (polycarbonate), PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), COP (cycloolefin polymer), PAN (polyacrylonitrile copolymer), AS (acrylonitrile styrene copolymer), etc. It may be formed by an extrusion molding method, injection molding method, or hot press molding method well known in the field.

The light emitted from the diffusing plate 25 enters the incident surface of the light control sheet 1. The light control sheet 1 is configured to be able to control at least one of the light emission direction, range, color, and luminance distribution when the incident light is emitted from the emission surface.

FIG. 6A is a cross-sectional view illustrating a schematic configuration of the light control sheet 1 according to the present embodiment, and FIG. 6B is a perspective view illustrating a configuration example of the light control sheet 1.
The light control sheet 1 is configured by arranging substantially semi-cylindrical unit lenses 14 which are compound prism lenses in an array in the same direction on a surface 17b on the viewer side F of the translucent substrate 17, and the translucent substrate 1 is translucent. The other surface of the substrate is a flat portion (incident surface) 17a that is substantially flat.
As shown in FIG. 6A, the unit lens 14 includes two prism lenses 15 and 15 that are substantially half the shape of a substantially convex lens in cross-section, and a part of the unit lens 14 overlaps the unit lens 14 by the shift amount Δ. For example, it is shaped like a petal that is displaced and combined (integrated). In the present embodiment, the two prism lenses 15 and 15 have the same shape that is symmetrical with each other, but they are not necessarily the same. Further, the direction in which the prism lenses 15 and 15 are shifted may be shifted not only in the arrangement direction but also in the vertical direction orthogonal to the arrangement direction.

The unit lens 14 has curved side surfaces 15 a and 15 b on both sides of each prism lens 15. A trough 18a between the unit lenses 14 and 14 forms a concave curved surface such as an inverted arc. Similarly, the valley portion 18b between the two prism lenses 15 and 15 in the unit lens 14 also forms a concave curved surface such as a reverse arc shape. By forming the valley portion 18a between the adjacent unit lenses 14 and 14 and the valley portion 18b between the two prism lenses 15 and 15 of one unit lens 14 with a concave curved surface, the light condensing effect is enhanced and the visual direction is improved. Luminance is improved and the visual field range of the light control sheet 7 is expanded. Moreover, since the valley lines of the valley portions 18a and 18b are difficult to see due to the concave curved surface, the effect of reducing the moire contrast can be obtained.

The shift amount Δ is set in the range of the following equation (1) when the arrangement pitch of the prism lenses 15 is P0.
(1/5) P0 ≦ Δ ≦ (2/3) P0 (1)
Here, when the shift amount Δ is smaller than the lower limit value (1/5) P0, the light condensing effect is small, and the upper limit value (2
/ 3) If P0 is exceeded, side lobes are likely to occur, which is not desirable.

In this way, the prism lenses 15 and 15 are shifted and compounded by Δ1, so that the nearest periodic structure 5 which is a periodic structure in which the distance between the compounded prism lenses 15 and 15 is the closest interval P1 is obtained. At the same time, the farthest periodic structure 3 which is a periodic structure having a pitch P2 of the unit lenses 14 is formed.
In other words, the light control structure in the light control sheet 1 has two periods, the nearest periodic structure 5 which is the periodic structure closest to the display unit 21 side and the farthest periodic structure which is the periodic structure farthest from the display unit 21. It is a complex periodic structure consisting of structures.

Further, in the light control sheet of the present embodiment, the unit lens has a substantially kamaboko shape that is a compound prism lens, and therefore the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure 5 and the farthest periodic structure 3 is substantially the same direction. Is formed.
Thereby, since the most periodic structure 5 and the farthest periodic structure 3 can remarkably match the direction in which the refraction and reflection of each light function most remarkably (direction perpendicular to the respective longitudinal directions), When the display device is viewed in plan from the observer side F, the light collection effect can be increased with respect to an arbitrary position direction.

Further, the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 (the closest interval of the nearest periodic structure 5) and the pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structure 3 satisfy 0.05 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 1.0. It is particularly preferable that 0.15 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 0.8 is satisfied.
When P1 / P2 is less than 0.05, for example, when the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 is 20 μm, the pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structure 3 exceeds 400 μm. If the pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structure 3 is too large, moire interference fringes are likely to occur between the periodic structure of the display unit 21 and the farthest periodic structure 3, which will be described later. If the pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structure 3 is reduced, the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 becomes too small, and the function of the nearest periodic structure 5 cannot be achieved. Therefore, it is desirable that P1 / P2 is 0.05 or more.
On the other hand, when P1 / P2 exceeds 1.0, it cannot be created simply by shifting the curved prism lens. In addition, by shifting the curved prism lens to the observer side F or the back side as shown in FIG. 7, it is possible to manufacture a lens having P1 / P2 exceeding 1.0, but the light collecting effect is lowered. Will occur. Therefore, it is desirable that P1 / P2 is 1.0 or less.
Further, P1 / P2 most preferably satisfies 1/6 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 2/5. This is because the light condensing effect can be maximized from the relationship with the shift amount Δ, and the side lobes can be reduced.

Here, the curved side surfaces 15a and 15b of the unit lens 14 are defined as follows.
FIG. 8 shows one prism lens 15 forming the unit lens 14 upside down. In the figure, focusing on one lens curved surface with the apex R0 of the prism lens 15 as a boundary, one end of the lens overlapping the base material 13 is denoted by R1. Then, assuming that the curved side surface 15a starts from the lens one end R1, the inclination angle θ of the tangent L at an arbitrary point of the lens curved surface with respect to the surface of the substrate 13 is 25 ° or more between the lens one end R1 and the apex R0. A point at 45 ° or less is defined as the other end R2 of the curved side surfaces 15a and 15b. In this case, between the lens one end R1 and the other end R2, the inclination angle θ of the tangent L with respect to the base material 13 at an arbitrary point is set to a convex curved surface having a size exceeding 45 °, and the lens one end R1. The inclination angle θ of the tangent line L gradually decreases from the second end portion R2 to the other end portion R2, and the inclination angle θ of the tangent line L is in the range of 25 ° to 45 ° for the first time at the other end portion R2. Here, if the inclination angle θ at the other end R2 is less than 25 °, the field of view is widened, but the light condensing effect is low. Conversely, if it exceeds 45 °, the field of view is narrow and side lobes are likely to occur. The curved surfaces of the lens that are convex outward from the one end R1 to the other end R2 are defined as curved side surfaces 15a and 15b, and the lens shape is an aspheric lens shape represented by the following equation (2). The general formula applies. However, in the unit lens 14, the curved side surface 15b is defined as a relatively short length from the valley portion 18b where the curved side surfaces 15b, 15b intersect to the other end portion R2.

The above formula (2) will be further described. In FIG. 8, z is a function of r that is a position variable in the width direction of the unit lens 14, and the value represents the height direction of the unit lens 14. In equation (2), k = 0 is a spherical surface, −1 <k <0 is an ellipse, k = −1 is a paraboloid, k <−1 is a hyperboloid, 1 / R is a coefficient for r, A, B, and C are correction term coefficients.
Further, the coefficients 1 / R, A, B, and C in the above formula (2) are within a specified range (−10 <1 / R <10, −5 <A <5, −10 <B <10, −30 <C < When deviating from 30), there is a drawback that a light condensing effect cannot be obtained or a side lobe easily occurs. That is, a lens sheet that provides a balance between the light collection effect and the field-of-view range can be provided only in a range in which the curved shape represented by the formula (2) matches the inclination angle θ. The prism lenses 15 and 15 constituting the unit lens 14 have defined curved side surfaces 15a and 15b, and the shape thereof is symmetrical in the range of the curved side surface 15b having a short length from the valley portion 18b to the top portion R0. It is desirable. In this case, since the unit lens 14 is also bilaterally symmetric, the light control sheet 7 with no bias in the visual field range is formed.

Further, the top portion R0 of the prism lens 15 may be rounded. By rounding, the field of view is widened, and the tip can be prevented from being chipped. However, if the radius of curvature of the tip of the prism lens 15 is too large, the brightness is lowered. Therefore, the radius R is preferably R ≦ P0 / 5 when the pitch of the prism lens 15 is P0.
Furthermore, the round part 18b where the curved side surfaces 15b and 15b intersect may be rounded. In this case, an effect of reducing the contrast of the moire interference fringes can be obtained by expanding the visual field range and making the valley lines difficult to see.

The light control sheet 1 in the present embodiment is not limited to the above shape. For example, the light control sheet 1 in which the curved side surface of the unit lens 15 is asymmetrical to the left and right, or a plurality of unit lenses 15 having different shapes may be arranged. Further, as shown in FIG. 9A, a lens having a V-groove formed at the apex of the convex lens, as shown in FIG. 9B, a convex spherical (aspheric) cylindrical lens, and in FIG. As shown, a triangular prism or the like may be used.

The optical action of the light control sheet 1 of this embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
The light beams J1 and J2 emitted from the light diffusing plate 25 are deflected by the refractive index difference between the air and the light transmissive substrate 17 and enter the light control sheet 1. Then, the unit lens 15 is deflected by being refracted (light ray J1) or reflected (light ray J2) by the difference in refractive index between the unit lens 15 and the air layer. As a result, the amount of light in the front direction is increased and the front luminance is improved.
Here, what is important for condensing light toward the front of the screen is that incident light is deflected by the difference in refractive index between air and the light control sheet 1. Thereby, for example, when the refractive index of the light control sheet 1 is 1.5 as a general resin material value, the diffused light spreading in the direction of 180 degrees is deflected within a range of about 90 degrees. . The light deflected in the 90-degree range is further deflected by the unit lens 15 and condensed in the front direction, and the front luminance is improved.

また、PET(ポリエチレンテレフタレート)、PC(ポリカーボネート)、PMMA(ポリメチルメタクリレート)、COP(シクロオレフィンポリマー)、PAN(ポリアクリロニトリル共重合体)、AS(アクリロニトリルスチレン共重合体)等を用いて、当該技術分野では良く知られている押し出し成形法、射出成型法、あるいは熱プレス成型法によって形成してもよい。   The unit lens 15 as described above is molded on the translucent substrate 17 using UV or radiation curable resin. Also, using PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PC (polycarbonate), PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), COP (cycloolefin polymer), PAN (polyacrylonitrile copolymer), AS (acrylonitrile styrene copolymer), etc. You may form by the extrusion molding method well-known in the technical field, the injection molding method, or the hot press molding method.

The light emitted from the light control sheet 1 enters the display unit 21 disposed on the light emission surface side of the light control sheet 1 as shown in FIG. The display device 27 according to the present embodiment emits display light whose display is controlled by an image signal from the display unit 21 toward the observer side F, thereby displaying a planar image.

As shown in FIG. 1, the display unit 21 includes polarizing plates 31 and 33 on the emission surface side and the back surface side of the liquid crystal panel 32, and the polarizing plate 33 on the back surface side of the liquid crystal panel 32 has an entrance surface thereof. A lens protection film 330 is laid on the surface.

Specifically, as shown in 11, the lens protective film 330 is composed of a transparent base material 331 in contact with the polarizing plate 33 and a protective layer 332 laminated on the incident surface side of the transparent base material 331. In 332, an uneven structure with an average interval Sm is formed.

The transparent base material 331 may serve as the transparent base material of the polarizing plate 33, and is composed of a triacetyl cellulose (TAC) film or the like. When a TAC film is used as the transparent substrate 331, a polarizing layer can be provided on the surface opposite to the surface on which the lens protective layer 332 is provided, that is, on the exit surface side, by hydrophilization. As a polarizing layer, what consists of extending | stretched polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) which added the iodine can be used.

The lens protective layer 332 is disposed so as to face the light control sheet 1, and is formed of a binder matrix 33B including a (meth) acrylate compound or a urethane (meth) acrylate compound having three or more functional groups, and spherical polymer particles or silica. The particles 33P and a compound having a perfluoroalkyl group are included, and the perfluoroalkyl group is exposed on the surface of the lens protective layer 332.

On the surface of the lens protective layer 332, irregularities are formed by projecting single or aggregated particles 33P from the surface. The irregularities formed in this way are non-periodic, and are effective in preventing moire generated between the light control structure of the light control sheet 1 and the periodic structure of the display unit 21. Controlling the dispersion state of the particles in the lens protective layer 332 leads to control of the moire suppression effect.

However, when a state in which the recent periodic structure 5 of the light control sheet 1 is in close contact with each other occurs, it is not possible to prevent moire simply by forming a non-periodic uneven shape. The problem observed in
Therefore, conventionally, the light diffusing film is installed between the light control sheet 1 and the lens protective film. However, the cost increases due to the increase in the number of members, the wrinkle of the light diffusing film, and the desired result obtained from the light control sheet 1. This causes problems such as changes in the light distribution.

Therefore, in the display device 27 of the present invention, the average interval Sm of the uneven structure of the lens protection layer 332 and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 are 0.4 ≦ Sm / P1 ≦ 25. By satisfying this relationship, it is possible to prevent moire interference fringes generated by the light control structure of the light control sheet 1 and the periodic structure of the display unit 21.
When Sm / P1 exceeds 25, since the relative ratio between the average interval Sm of the concavo-convex structure and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 becomes small, the scattering effect due to the non-periodic structure of the concavo-convex structure decreases. Moire interference fringes are generated by the light control structure of the light control sheet 1 and the periodic structure of the display unit 21.
When Sm / P1 is less than 0.4, when the closest interval P1 of the periodic structure 5 is 200 μm, Sm of the concavo-convex structure is less than 0.05 μm, and color unevenness due to light diffraction occurs.

The average interval Sm and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 preferably satisfy the relationship of 1.6 ≦ Sm / P1 ≦ 13.9.
When Sm / P1 is 1.6 or more, the moire reduction effect is further increased, and an anti-glare layer is not provided on the viewer side F of the display unit, and a transparent layer can be formed. When the anti-glare layer is provided, the moire reduction effect can be enhanced. However, since the display image becomes white, there is a problem that the display performance of the black image is lowered and the contrast is lowered. Therefore, when Sm / P1 is 1.6 or more, the anti-glare layer is not provided on the observer side F of the display unit, and a transparent layer is used, so that the display device displays a black image without degrading the display performance. It is possible to reduce moire while maintaining the above.
On the other hand, when Sm / P1 is within 13.9, the relative ratio of the closest interval P1 to Sm is sufficiently large, so that the durability of the nearest periodic structure 5 against the friction between the nearest periodic structure 5 and the lens protective layer 332 is high. As a result, the function of the lens protective layer 332 becomes larger.

Therefore, it is necessary that the average interval Sm is in the range of 80 μm ≦ Sm ≦ 250 μm.

Further, when the closest density P1 is less than 10 μm, a color phenomenon occurs due to a diffraction phenomenon, and when the closest density P1 exceeds 200 μm, moire occurs. Therefore, the closest density P1 needs to be in the range of 10 μm ≦ P1 ≦ 200 μm.

By using such a lens protective layer 332, the pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structure 3 of the light control sheet 1 or the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 is made non-uniform, or the farthest period of the light control sheet 1 There is no need to make the extending direction of the structure 3 or the extending direction of the latest periodic structure 5 meander. Therefore, it is possible to reduce costs, prevent unevenness of the light control sheet 1, and improve the degree of freedom in controlling the viewing angle.

The arithmetic average roughness Ra of the uneven structure of the lens protective layer 332 is preferably 0.1 μm or more and 0.4 μm or less. The ten-point average roughness Rz is preferably 0.3 μm or more and 1.2 μm or less.
Further, when acrylic styrene particles are used as the particles 33P and 20 parts by weight or more of pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA) is contained in the binder matrix, the dispersibility of the particles can be easily controlled. Specifically, the dispersion state of the particles 33P changes due to the interaction between the carbonyl group present in the acrylic portion of the acrylic styrene particle and the hydroxyl group present in PETA. When PETA in the binder matrix is less than 20 parts by weight, there are few hydroxyl groups derived from PETA, the interaction with the carbonyl group present in the acrylic part of the acrylic styrene particles is reduced, the aggregation of the particles becomes significant, and the surface unevenness is excessive. Therefore, the luminance drop is too great. On the other hand, when PETA in the binder matrix is 20 parts by weight or more, the dispersibility of the particles 33P can be easily controlled by appropriately setting the ratio of the acrylic portion of the acrylic styrene particles. For this reason, when importance is attached to the display quality, it is preferable that the lens protective layer 332 contains a binder matrix and one kind of acrylic styrene particles, and the binder matrix contains 20 parts by weight or more of PETA.

When the value (RA / H) obtained by dividing the average particle diameter (RA) of the acrylic styrene particles by the average film thickness (H) of the lens protective layer 332 exceeds 0.80, a large convex portion is formed on the surface of the lens protective layer. The surface irregularities are excessive and the brightness is liable to decrease. For this reason, the value of (RA / H) is preferably 0.80 or less. The average particle diameter of the acrylic styrene particles is determined by a light scattering particle size distribution measuring device.

The average film thickness of the lens protective layer 332 means an average value of the film thickness of the lens protective layer 332 having surface irregularities. The average film thickness can be obtained by an electronic micrometer or a fully automatic fine shape measuring machine.
Here, when the average film thickness of the lens protective layer 332 is less than 3 μm, a sufficient protective function cannot be obtained, and scratches from the lens reach the transparent substrate (for example, TAC) and remain. On the other hand, when the average film thickness of the lens protective layer exceeds 30 μm, the cost is increased and the degree of curling of the obtained film is increased, which may not be suitable for the processing step for providing the polarizing plate.
Therefore, the average film thickness (H) of the lens protective layer 332 is preferably 3 μm to 30 μm, and more preferably 4 μm to 20 μm.

The larger the ratio of the particles to the binder matrix, the more agglomeration of the particles 33P occurs when forming the lens protective layer 332, and the pitch between the irregularities becomes larger, so that a so-called yuzu skin appearance is produced. On the other hand, when the ratio of the particles 33P to the binder matrix is small, the lens protective layer 332 does not exhibit sufficient scattering properties, diffusibility is reduced, and moire cannot be sufficiently prevented.

By changing the ratio of the acrylic portion of the acrylic styrene particles, the aggregation state of the plurality of particles in the lens protective layer 332, and thus the particle dispersion can be controlled.

The change in the ratio of the acrylic part of the acrylic styrene particles is linked with the change in the refractive index of the particles. That is, when the ratio of the acrylic part of the acrylic styrene particles is small, the refractive index is high, and when the ratio of the acrylic part is large, the refractive index is low. The greater the difference between the refractive index of the particles and the refractive index of the binder matrix, the greater the tendency for aggregation.
Here, the refractive index (nM) of the binder matrix means the refractive index of the film made of the binder matrix forming material. When an ionizing radiation curable binder matrix forming material that is cured by ionizing radiation is used, the refractive index (nM) of the binder matrix is the refractive index after being cured by irradiation with ionizing radiation. That is, the refractive index of the lens protective layer where the acrylic styrene particles are removed becomes the refractive index of the binder matrix. The refractive index (nM) of the binder matrix and the refractive index (nA) of the acrylic styrene particles can be obtained by the Becke line detection method (immersion method).

Here, if the cohesiveness of the particles 33P is controlled, the lens protective film 330 can be provided with a low luminance reduction and a high moire suppressing effect.
As a specific example, FIG. 12 shows a micrograph of a lens protective layer in which particles 33P are well dispersed, and FIG. 13 shows a micrograph of a lens protective layer 332 in which particles 33P are relatively aggregated. Note that the two lens protective layers 332 shown in FIGS. 12 and 13 exhibit equivalent haze.
In contrast to these two, moiré was easily recognized in the lens protective layer in FIG. 12, but moiré was difficult to be recognized in the lens protective layer in FIG. However, if the aggregation state is simply strengthened, there may be a large number of defects due to aggregation, leading to a decrease in quality. For this reason, it is preferable to appropriately control the aggregation state (dispersion state) of the particles 33P by preparing various parameters as described above.

Examples of the compound having a perfluoroalkyl group include perfluorooctane sulfonic acid, perfluorooctanoic acid, a compound comprising a perfluoroalkyl group and a polar group, and a bonding group. It is known that the longer the carbon chain in the perfluoroalkyl group, the higher the performance such as slipperiness. As the perfluoroalkyl group, those having about 6 carbon atoms are often used, and those obtained by graft polymerization thereof are also used.

In addition, the lens protective film 330 may be provided with a functional layer having antireflection performance, antistatic performance, antifouling performance, electromagnetic wave shielding performance, infrared absorption performance, ultraviolet absorption performance, etc., if necessary. Good. Examples of these functional layers include an antireflection layer, an antistatic layer, an antifouling layer, an electromagnetic wave shielding layer, an infrared absorption layer, an ultraviolet absorption layer, and a color correction layer. These functional layers may be a single layer or a plurality of layers. The functional layer may have a plurality of functions as a single layer, such as an antireflection layer having antifouling performance. These functional layers may be provided between the transparent substrate and the lens protective layer 332 or may be provided on the lens protective layer 332. In order to improve the adhesiveness of these layers, a primer layer or an adhesive layer may be provided between the respective layers.

Next, a method for forming the lens protective film 330 will be described.
The lens protective film 330 according to the present embodiment is a transparent lens based coating solution for forming a lens protective layer containing a binder matrix forming material that is cured by ionizing radiation, spherical polymer particles or silica particles, and a compound having a perfluoroalkyl group. It can be formed by a step of coating on a material to form a coating film and a step of curing the binder matrix forming material with ionizing radiation.
As the binder matrix forming material, a polyfunctional urethane (meth) acrylate compound or (meth) acrylate compound, which is an ionizing radiation curable material, can be used, among which a trifunctional acrylate monomer or a tetrafunctional acrylate monomer is preferably used. . By using a trifunctional acrylate monomer or a tetrafunctional acrylate monomer, a lens protective film having sufficient scratch resistance can be formed. Specific examples of trifunctional acrylate monomers and tetrafunctional acrylate monomers include polyfunctional acrylate monomers such as polyhydric alcohol acrylic acid or methacrylic acid ester, or diisocyanate, polyhydric alcohol and acrylic acid or methacrylic acid hydroxy ester Among the polyfunctional urethane acrylate monomers synthesized from the above, trifunctional and tetrafunctional ones are mentioned. Further, it is preferable to use a pentafunctional or higher-functional urethane (meth) acrylate compound or (meth) acrylate compound as the binder matrix forming material.

When ultraviolet rays are used as ionizing radiation, a photopolymerization initiator can be added to the lens protective layer forming coating solution. It is preferable to use a photopolymerization initiator that is compatible with the binder matrix forming material. As the photopolymerization initiator, benzoin such as benzoin, benzoin methyl ether, benzoin ethyl ether, benzoin isopropyl ether, benzyl methyl ketal, and alkyl ethers thereof are used. The amount of the photopolymerization initiator used is preferably 0.5 to 20 wt%, more preferably 1 to 5 wt% with respect to the binder matrix forming material.

The coating solution for forming the lens protective layer is prepared using a solvent. By adding the solvent, the particles and the binder matrix can be uniformly dispersed, and the viscosity can be adjusted to an appropriate range when the lens protective layer-forming coating solution is applied onto the transparent substrate.

When triacetyl cellulose is used as the transparent substrate 331 and the lens protective layer 332 is provided directly on the triacetyl cellulose film without any other functional layer, triacetyl is used as a solvent for the coating solution for forming the lens protective layer. It is preferable to use a mixed solvent of a solvent that dissolves or swells the cellulose film and a solvent that does not dissolve or swell the triacetylcellulose film. By using such a mixed solvent, the lens protective film 330 having sufficient adhesion at the interface between the triacetyl cellulose film and the lens protective layer can be obtained.

In addition, ethers such as hydrofluoroether, tetrahydrofuran and oxetane may be used in order to facilitate dissolution of the fluorine-based additive having a perfluoroalkyl group used for imparting slipperiness. The ethers can also serve as either a solvent that dissolves or swells the triacetylcellulose film and a solvent that does not dissolve or swell the triacetylcellulose film.

Solvents that dissolve or swell the triacetyl cellulose film include dibutyl ether, dimethoxymethane, dimethoxyethane, diethoxyethane, propylene oxide, dioxane, dioxolane, trioxane, tetrahydrofuran, anisole, hydrofluoroether, tetrahydrofuran, oxetane and phenetole. Some ketones such as ethers, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, diethyl ketone, dipropyl ketone, diisobutyl ketone, cyclopentanone, cyclohexanone, methylcyclohexanone, and ethylcyclohexanone, ethyl formate, propyl formate, n-pentyl formate, methyl acetate , Ethyl acetate, methyl propionate, ethyl propionate, n-pentyl acetate, and γ-ptyrolactone Which esters, methyl cellosolve, cellosolve, butyl cellosolve, and cellosolves such as cellosolve acetate. These can be used alone or in combination of two or more. Among these, ethers may have an action of dissolving an additive composed of a compound having a perfluoroalkyl group.

Solvents that do not dissolve or swell the triacetyl cellulose film include aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene, xylene, cyclohexane and cyclohexylbenzene, hydrocarbons such as n-hexane, methyl isobutyl ketone, methyl butyl ketone and the like. Examples include ketones. These can be used alone or in combination of two or more.

When a coating film for forming the lens protective layer is applied to form a coating film for the lens protective layer 332, an additive called a surface conditioner is added in order to prevent the occurrence of coating film defects such as repelling and unevenness. Also good. Surface modifiers are also called leveling agents, antifoaming agents, interfacial tension modifiers, and surface tension modifiers depending on their function. All of these have the function of reducing the surface tension of the coating film of the lens protective layer 332 to be formed. Examples of the surface conditioner include a silicone-based additive, a fluorine-based additive, and an acrylic additive.

It is preferable that the surface of the lens protective layer 332 has a high slip property so that the unit lens 1 and the lens protective layer 332 itself are not damaged by rubbing during transportation. As compounds having slip properties, fluororesins such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are well known. However, such a resin does not adhere to the TAC film as it is and cannot be used as a coating agent on the TAC surface.

On the other hand, it has been found that by using a so-called modified compound having a perfluoroalkyl group, which is a functional group similar to PTFE, it has the same slipperiness as PTFE and can hardly damage the lens surface. The amount of the modifying compound having a perfluoroalkyl group is preferably in the range of 0.1 to 3 wt%. If it is less than 0.1 wt%, the slipperiness is insufficient and the lens is easily damaged. If it exceeds 3% wt, it becomes easy to form micelles and defects are generated.

In addition to the surface conditioner, other additives may be added to the lens protective layer forming coating solution. However, it is preferable that these additives do not affect the slipperiness, transparency, light diffusibility and the like of the formed lens protective layer 332. Examples of the functional additive include an antistatic agent, an ultraviolet absorber, an infrared absorber, an antifouling agent, a water repellent, a refractive index adjuster, an adhesion improver, and a curing agent. With these functional additives, the lens protective layer can be provided with functions such as an antistatic function, an ultraviolet absorbing function, an infrared absorbing function, an antifouling function, and a water repellent function.

A roll coater, a reverse roll coater, a gravure coater, a knife coater, a bar coater, and a die coater can be used to apply the lens protective layer forming coating solution onto the transparent substrate. In particular, it is preferable to use a die coater that can be applied at a high speed by a roll-to-roll method. The solid content concentration of the coating solution may vary depending on the coating method, but may be approximately 30 to 70% by weight.

The lens protective layer 332 is formed by irradiating ionizing radiation onto a coating film obtained by applying a coating solution on a transparent substrate. As the ionizing radiation, ultraviolet rays and electron beams can be used. In the case of ultraviolet curing, a light source such as a high pressure mercury lamp, a low pressure mercury lamp, an ultrahigh pressure mercury lamp, a metal halide lamp, a carbon arc, or a xenon arc can be used. In the case of electron beam curing, electron beams emitted from various electron beam accelerators such as cockloftwald type, bandegraph type, resonant transformer type, insulated core transformer type, linear type, dynamitron type, and high frequency type can be used. . The energy of the electron beam is preferably 50 to 1000 keV, more preferably 100 to 300 keV.
A drying step may be provided before and after the step of forming the lens protective layer 332 by curing as described above. Moreover, you may perform hardening and drying simultaneously. Examples of drying means include heating, air blowing, and hot air.

In the display device 27 having the above-described configuration, the light control sheet 1 has a periodic structure composed of the nearest periodic structure 5 and the farthest periodic structure 3, so that the light use efficiency and luminance are increased. And the side lobes can be reduced.
In addition, the average interval Sm of the concave-convex structure of the lens protective layer 332 and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 have a relationship of 80 μm ≦ Sm ≦ 250 μm, 10 μm ≦ P1 ≦ 200 μm, and 0.4 ≦ Sm / P1 ≦ 25. Therefore, moire interference can be prevented and color unevenness can be suppressed while maintaining high luminance.

In addition, since the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure 5 and the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 3 are configured to be substantially the same direction, the light of each of the nearest periodic structure 5 and the farthest periodic structure 3 is transmitted. Since the direction in which the refraction action and the reflection action are the largest is substantially the same, when the display device 27 is viewed in plan from the observer side, the light collection effect can be increased in any position direction. .

Further, since the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 and the pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structure 3 satisfy the relationship of 0.05 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 1.0, while preventing the occurrence of moire interference, Recently, the function of the periodic structure 5 can be exhibited.

As described above, according to the display device 27 of the first embodiment, the lens protective layer 332 having the concavo-convex structure with the average interval Sm is formed on the display unit 21, and the latest periodic structure 5 and the outermost structure are formed on the light control sheet 1. By forming the light control structure including the long-period structure 3, it is possible to increase the light use efficiency and the brightness, and to effectively reduce side lobes and moire, without providing additional components. Thus, it is possible to provide the display device 27 with low cost and excellent optical performance.

Next, the display apparatus 60 of 2nd embodiment is demonstrated. This display device 60 is different from the first embodiment in that the shape of the light control sheet 61 is different from the display device 27 of the first embodiment.
14A is a longitudinal sectional view of the display device of the second embodiment, FIG. 14B is a view taken in the direction of arrow A in FIG. 14A, and FIG. 15A is a light control sheet of the second embodiment. 15 (b) is a view in the direction of arrow B in FIG. 15 (a), FIG. 15 (c) is in the direction of arrow C in FIG. 15 (a), and FIG. 15 (d) is a plan view of the light control sheet. FIG.

An array-like farthest periodic structure 63 extending in one direction is formed on the surface 62b on the observer side F of the light transmitting substrate 62. Further, as shown in FIG. 14B, a nearest periodic structure 64 is formed at the top 63 a of the farthest periodic structure 63 in a direction intersecting with the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63. That is, the light control sheet 61 of this embodiment has a cross lens shape including the farthest periodic structure 63 and the nearest periodic structure 64.

The lens shape of the farthest periodic structure 63 is a trapezoidal prism shape, and the most periodic structure 64 is formed on the top 63a of the trapezoidal prism. In the trapezoidal prism, the inclined surface 63b constituting the trapezoidal hypotenuse is substantially straight, so that the same effect as the triangular prism can be obtained. Therefore, since the condensing effect on the observer side F is high, the display device 60 with high luminance can be obtained. At this time, the apex angle θ1 of the trapezoidal prism is desirably in the range of 60 degrees to 110 degrees, more preferably 80 degrees to 100 degrees.

The lens shape of the nearest periodic structure 64 is formed into a triangular prism shape having a high light condensing effect on the observer side F, and a plurality of trapezoids constituting the farthest periodic structure along a direction orthogonal to the farthest periodic structure 63. It extends across the prism. Note that. The apex angle θ2 of the triangular prism is desirably in the range of 60 to 110 degrees, more preferably in the range of 80 to 100 degrees.

As shown in FIG. 15 (d), it is desirable that the angle formed by the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 and the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure 63 is approximately 90 °. Thereby, when the display device 60 is viewed in plan from the observer side F, it is possible to obtain a light collecting effect in two directions, that is, the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 and the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure 63.

Since the light control sheet 61 according to the second embodiment has a light collecting function in two directions, the light collecting effect can be further enhanced.
For example, as an optical film that has a condensing function in two or more directions, a polygonal pyramid lens represented by a quadrangular pyramid can be mentioned. To adjust the condensing ratio in two directions, it is necessary to change the apex angle of the polygonal pyramid. There is. In the case of a quadrangular pyramid lens, it is necessary to set the apex angle to 90 ° for the highest luminance. However, in the case of a condensing function in two directions, when it is desired to expand or narrow the field of view in either direction, It is necessary to increase or decrease the apex angle. However, if this apex angle is changed, there arises a problem that the luminance is lowered.
In this respect, in the light control sheet 61 of the present embodiment, the farthest periodic structure 63 has a trapezoidal prism shape, the nearest periodic structure 64 has a triangular prism shape, and the top of the trapezoidal prism which is the farthest periodic structure 63. 63a and the top 64a of the nearest periodic structure 64 coincide with each other, and therefore, by adjusting the width L of the top 63a of the farthest periodic structure 63, the light collection ratio in two directions can be adjusted without greatly changing the luminance. Can do. That is, the visual field in the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 is set wide, or the visual fields in the two directions of the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 and the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure 64 are set to the same level. The range of the visual field can be arbitrarily set according to the application conditions of the light control sheet 61 of the present invention.

In the light control sheet 61 of the present embodiment, the farthest periodic structure 63 has a trapezoidal prism shape, and the most recent periodic structure 64 has a triangular prism shape. It has the characteristic of not.
FIG. 16A shows a viewing angle distribution of a 90-degree triangular prism as a comparison target. Since the triangular prism condenses in the front direction, it has a maximum peak at 0 degrees, but a side lobe occurs and a valley Va is generated around 45 degrees. This side lobe is emitted light in a direction unnecessary for the display device 40, but the side lobe itself is not a problem in observing the display device 40, but a valley Va between the main peak of 0 degrees and the side lobe. It is a problem that the brightness of the is low. Therefore, if the luminance of the valley Va is too low even if the side lobes are reduced, it is not desirable as the display device 41.

On the other hand, since the farthest periodic structure 63 has a trapezoidal prism shape and the most recent periodic structure 64 has a triangular prism shape, the light control sheet 61 has the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 and the nearest periodic structure. Since the visual field distribution characteristic in which the visual field distribution with the extending direction of 64 is configured can be obtained, it is possible to emit light to the valley Va as shown in FIG.
Further, by adjusting the width L of the top portion 63a of the farthest periodic structure 63, it is possible to adjust the visual field in the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 or the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure 64.

FIG. 17A is a diagram illustrating a measurement result of the luminance of the light control sheet 61 when the width L of the top 63a of the farthest periodic structure 63 is changed. FIG. 17B is a diagram showing the measurement results of the half-value angle in the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 and the extending direction of the nearest periodic structure 62. Note that the luminance is a value normalized with a 90-degree triangular prism as 1.0. 17A and 17B, the x-axis is a ratio between the width L of the apex 63a of the farthest periodic structure 63 and the pitch P2 of the unit lenses constituting the farthest periodic structure 63. And in the case of the said measurement, while arrange | positioning the display part 21 of the display apparatus 60 along a perpendicular direction, the extension direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 is along the horizontal direction Ho, and extension of the nearest periodic structure 64 is carried out. The direction was set along the vertical direction Ve.

When the width L of the top 63a of the farthest periodic structure 63 is narrowed, the light condensing effect of the nearest periodic structure 64 is weakened, and the light condensing effect of the farthest periodic structure 63 is strengthened, so that the half-value angle in the Ve direction is narrowed. The half-value angle in the Ho direction becomes wider.
On the other hand, when the width of the top portion 63a of the farthest periodic structure 63 is widened, the light condensing effect of the farthest periodic structure 63 is weakened, and the light condensing effect of the most recent periodic structure 64 is strengthened. The half-value angle in the Ho direction becomes narrower.

When the display device 60 of the present embodiment is used for television, it is desirable that the half-value angle in the Ho direction is wide. This is because when observing the television, the observer observes the television from various positions in the Ho direction. However, when the display device 27 of the present invention is used for advertising billboards or the like, it may be desirable that the half-value angle in the Ve direction is wide.

The light control sheet 61 may be arranged in the vertical direction Ve in the extending direction of the farthest periodic structure 63 or in the horizontal direction Ho. This is because the half-value angle in both the horizontal direction Ho and the vertical direction Ve can be controlled by changing the width L of the top 63a of the farthest periodic structure 63. Accordingly, the ratio between the width L of the top 63a of the farthest periodic structure 63 and the pitch P2 of the unit lenses constituting the farthest periodic structure 63 can be arbitrarily selected.

Here, when the farthest periodic structure 63 is a trapezoidal prism having an apex angle of 60 degrees and the nearest periodic structure 64 is a triangular prism having an apex angle of 110 degrees, the closest interval P1 of unit lenses constituting the nearest periodic structure 64 Is more than twice the pitch P2 of the unit lenses constituting the farthest periodic structure 63, the height of the unit lenses constituting the nearest periodic structure 64 is higher than the height of the unit lenses constituting the farthest periodic structure 63. Therefore, the effect of the farthest periodic structure 63 disappears. Therefore, P1 / P2 is desirably 2 or less.
Further, there is no problem in optical characteristics when the closest interval P1 of the unit lenses constituting the nearest periodic structure 64 is smaller than the pitch P2 of the unit lenses constituting the farthest periodic structure 63. When the closest interval P1 of the unit lenses constituting the lens is 20 μm, when P1 / P2 is 0.05, the pitch P of the unit lenses constituting the farthest periodic structure 63 is 400 μm. If the pitch P2 of the unit lenses constituting the farthest periodic structure 63 is too large, moire interference fringes are likely to occur between the periodic structure of the display unit 21 and the periodic structure of the farthest periodic structure 63, which is not desirable. On the other hand, if the pitch P2 of the unit lenses constituting the farthest periodic structure 63 is reduced, the closest interval P1 of the unit lenses constituting the nearest periodic structure 64 becomes too small, which is not desirable. Therefore, P1 / P2 is desirably 0.05 or more.
Based on the above, it is desirable that a relationship of 0.05 ≦ P1 / P2 ≦ 2.0 is established between the close-packed interval P1 and the pitch P2.

As a manufacturing method of the light control sheet 61 of this second embodiment, a mold 65 for preparing the light control sheet 61 as shown in FIG. 18 is prepared, and the mold 65 is produced by inverting the mold 65 to obtain a mold. can do. The farthest periodic structure 63 is formed by the farthest periodic structure type portion 66, and the nearest periodic structure 64 is formed by the nearest periodic structure type portion 67.
In addition, as a manufacturing method, the most periodic structure 64 can be formed after the farthest periodic structure 63 is formed on the light transmitting substrate 62.

So far, the case where the farthest periodic structure 63 is a trapezoidal prism and the nearest periodic structure 64 is a triangular prism has been described. However, the lens shape of the farthest periodic structure 63 and the lens shape of the nearest periodic structure 64 are arbitrary. It is possible to select.
Here, for example, a convex lenticular can be cited as the farthest periodic structure 63. When the convex lenticular is formed only in one direction, a display device 60 with a wide visual field range can be obtained. On the other hand, since the light condensing effect on the observer side F is weak, it is difficult to obtain high luminance. However, when the convex lenticular is formed as the latest periodic structure 63 on the top of the convex lenticular, a condensing effect in two directions of the horizontal direction Xo and the vertical direction Ve can be obtained. Can be obtained.

上述のような最遠周期構造63、最近周期構造64は、透光性基材62上にUVや放射線硬化樹脂を用いて成形されるか、またはPET(ポリエチレンテレフタレート)、PC(ポリカーボネート)、PMMA(ポリメチルメタクリレート)、COP(シクロオレフィンポリマー)、PAN(ポリアクリロニトリル共重合体)、AS(アクリロニトリルスチレン共重合体)等を用いて、当該技術分野では良く知られている押し出し成形法、射出成型法、あるいは熱プレス成型法によって形成される   The farthest periodic structure 63 and the most recent periodic structure 64 as described above are molded on the translucent substrate 62 using UV or radiation curable resin, or PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PC (polycarbonate), PMMA. (Polymethylmethacrylate), COP (cycloolefin polymer), PAN (polyacrylonitrile copolymer), AS (acrylonitrile styrene copolymer), etc., and extrusion molding and injection molding well known in the art. Formed by the hot press molding method

Also in the display device 60 of the present embodiment, the average interval Sm of the concavo-convex structure of the lens protective layer 332 and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 5 are 80 μm ≦ Sm ≦ 250 μm, 10 μm ≦ P1 ≦ 200 μm,. Since the relationship of 4 ≦ Sm / P1 ≦ 25 is satisfied, it is possible to prevent moire interference and suppress color unevenness while maintaining high luminance.
In the present embodiment, 1.6 ≦ Sm / P1 ≦ 13.9 is preferable as in the first embodiment.

As described above, the embodiments of the display devices 27 and 60 according to the present invention have been described in detail. However, the present invention is not limited to these embodiments without departing from the technical idea of the present invention, and some design changes and the like are possible. .
For example, in the light control sheets 1 and 61, it is desirable that the pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structures 3 and 63 and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure 64 are substantially uniform, but they may be non-uniform. . Thereby, it is possible to further reduce the occurrence of moire interference fringes between the periodic structure of the display unit 21 and the farthest periodic structures 3 and 63 or the nearest periodic structures 5 and 64.

In addition, in the light control sheets 1 and 61, the longitudinal shape of the farthest periodic structures 3 and 63 or the longitudinal shape of the nearest periodic structures 5 and 64 is preferably a linear shape, but may be a meandering shape. . By making the meander shape, it is possible to further reduce the occurrence of moire interference fringes between the periodic structure of the display unit 21 and the farthest periodic structures 3 and 63 or the nearest periodic structures 5 and 64.

Further, in the light control sheets 1 and 61, the longitudinal direction of the farthest periodic structures 3 and 63 or the longitudinal direction of the nearest periodic structures 5 and 64 is inclined by 0 to 45 degrees with respect to the horizontal direction Ho or the vertical direction Ve. May be installed. In this case, 3 to 20 degrees is particularly preferable. Thereby, it is possible to further reduce the occurrence of moire interference fringes between the periodic structure of the display unit 21 and the farthest periodic structures 3 and 63 or the nearest periodic structures 5 and 64.

The pitch P2 of the farthest periodic structures 3 and 63 is preferably 30 μm or more and 200 μm or less, and particularly preferably 50 μm or more and 150 μm or less. When the pitch P2 exceeds 200 μm, moire interference fringes between the periodic structure of the display unit 21 and the farthest periodic structures 3 and 63 are generated, which is not desirable. When the pitch P2 is less than 30 μm, in the manufacture of the mold used for manufacturing the light control sheets 1 and 61, as the pitch P2 becomes smaller, more manufacturing time is required and the influence of the shape change due to scratches becomes larger. Therefore, it is not preferable because the manufacturing efficiency is lowered and the cost is increased.

Moreover, it is preferable to form a concavo-convex structure on the back surface of the light control sheets 1 and 61. By forming the concavo-convex structure, it is possible to prevent uneven brightness due to the presence or absence of adhesion between the light control sheets 1 and 61 and the diffusion plate 25.

Further, the closest interval P1 between the most recent periodic structures 5 and 64 is preferably 10 μm or more and 200 μm or less, and particularly preferably 15 μm or more and 50 μm or less. When the pitch P1 exceeds 200 μm, moire interference fringes between the periodic structure of the display unit 21 and the nearest periodic structures 5 and 64 are not desirable. When the pitch P1 is less than 10 μm, in the manufacture of the mold used for manufacturing the light control sheet 1, as the pitch P2 becomes smaller, more manufacturing time is required, and the influence of shape change due to scratches increases. This is not desirable because the production efficiency is lowered and the cost is increased.

The thickness of the light control sheets 1 and 61 is determined by the manufacturing process or the required physical characteristics of the light control sheets 1 and 61 rather than the influence on the optical characteristics. For example, when the light control structure is formed by UV molding, the thickness of the light-transmitting base materials 17 and 62 is wrinkled when the thickness is 50 μm or less, and needs to exceed 50 μm. Further, the thickness of the base material varies depending on the size of the backlight unit or display device to be used. For example, in a display device having a diagonal size of 32 inches or more, the substrate thickness is desirably 0.05 mm to 3 mm.

Alternatively, the light control sheets 1 and 61 and the diffusion plate 25 may be laminated and integrated through a fixing element. Thereby, it becomes possible to prevent wrinkles and wrinkles of the light control sheet 1. The fixing element is preferably an optical mask that absorbs less light and has high light reflectance. Furthermore, the light mask is preferably in a position where the light control sheets 1 and 61 are not exposed by the parallel light on the surface not having the light control structure when the parallel light is incident from the side having the light control structure. The presence of the light mask at the above-described position makes it possible to appropriately adjust the position where the light from the light source 41 is incident from the back side of the light control sheet 1, 61, thereby further improving the light collection effect of the light control sheet 1, 61. It becomes possible to enlarge. "

In the above-described display device, the influence of the average interval Sm of the concave-convex structure of the lens protective layer, the closest interval P1 of the latest periodic structure and the ratio Sm / P1 on moire, color unevenness, abrasion resistance, and luminance is investigated. Therefore, the following measurement test was performed.

Table 1 shows the configuration of the light control sheet used in the measurement test. A total of 12 light control sheets were used in this test. The light control sheet was produced by an extrusion method, and the thickness was 300 μm.

Table 2 shows the configuration of the light control sheet used in the measurement test. In this test, a total of seven lens protective layers having different average intervals Sm of the concavo-convex structure were used. In addition, the measurement of average space | interval Sm was performed using measuring device ET4000A made from a Kosaka laboratory based on JIS-B-0601-1994.

Then, the above 12 light control sheets and 7 lens protective layers are combined to produce a total of 12 × 7 display devices, and moiré, color unevenness, abrasion resistance and luminance, image unevenness and luminance are evaluated. It was. Tables 3 to 9 show the results.
Regarding the evaluation of moire, even if the display portion observer side is a transparent layer, the case where moire does not occur is indicated by ◎, the case where moire does not occur is indicated by ○, and the case where moire occurs is indicated by ×. As for the abrasion resistance, ◎ indicates that no dust is generated and ◯ indicates that only a small amount of dust is generated (a level that does not cause a problem in use of the display device).

From these tables, the lens protective layer No is 2 to 6, that is, the average interval Sm is 80 to 250 μm, the closest periodic interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure is 10 to 200 μm, and 0.4 ≦ Sm / Only those satisfying P1 ≦ 25 are found to have good moire, color unevenness, abrasion resistance and luminance.
From this, the average interval Sm of the concavo-convex structure of the lens protective layer and the closest interval P1 of the nearest periodic structure have a relationship of 80 μm ≦ Sm ≦ 250 μm, 10 μm ≦ P1 ≦ 200 μm, 0.4 ≦ Sm / P1 ≦ 25. It was found that by designing the display device so as to satisfy the requirements, it is possible to prevent moire interference while maintaining high luminance, suppress color unevenness, and further improve abrasion resistance.
