One method for enabling a remotely activatable control element to respond to a control signal is by heat generation or heat absorption. In some embodiments, the change in temperature of the remotely activatable control element can directly modify the generation of osmotic pressure. In some embodiments, the osmotic pump system may include an electromagnetic field activated cooling element that can cause a decrease in osmotic fluid temperature, and the osmotic pressure generating material reduces the osmotic fluid temperature. It has a solubility in osmotic fluid that changes in response. For example, a cooling element activated by an electromagnetic field may include a thermoelectric element. The solubility of the osmotic pressure generating material may increase with decreasing temperature and may decrease with decreasing temperature. The concentration of the osmotic pressure generating material in the osmotic fluid can be corrected by a change in the volume of the osmotic chamber in response to the electromagnetic field control signal.

In some embodiments, the temperature change of the remotely activatable control element of the osmotic pump device element modifies the osmotic pressure generation, and thus the pump flow, indirectly, for example by causing a change in the structure size (For example, similar to the remotely activatable control element shown in FIG. 3). FIG. 7A illustrates an osmotic pump including a
The interaction sites may be localized in the interaction region as shown in FIGS. 7A and 7B, or the interaction sites may be distributed at various locations within the permeation chamber. The osmotic pump may include multiple interaction sites for the osmotic pressure generating material in the osmotic chamber, and the interaction between the osmotic pressure generating material and the interaction site is expected to be controllable by the electromagnetic field control signal. The interaction with the interaction site of the osmotic pressure generating material causes an osmotic pressure change in the osmotic chamber. The interaction site can interact with the osmotic pressure generating material by one or more of binding, reaction, interaction, or complex formation with the osmotic pressure generating material. The interaction site may be responsive to the electromagnetic field control signal when at least one property changes, the change being at least one property change that modifies the interaction between the interaction site and the osmotic pressure generating material. The at least one property may include, but is not limited to, for example, at least one of solubility, reactivity, dispersion within the infiltration chamber, density, temperature, structure, orientation, alignment, or chemical potential.

The effect of modifying the surface area of the interaction region is further described in connection with FIGS. 9A and 9B and FIGS. 10A and 10B. 9A and 9B illustrate how increasing the surface area of an interaction region by stretching or expansion increases the degree of interaction in the interaction region. A plurality of
In some embodiments, increasing the surface area of the interaction region by stretching or expansion may reduce the degree of reaction (eg, the reactants bind or associate simultaneously with several interaction sites). If a certain interval is needed to allow). 10A and 10B illustrate how increasing the surface area of the

In addition to the surface area or reaction volume, the expansion of the remotely activatable control element also has the effect of exposing additional portions of the reaction region or exposing additional functional groups to influence the reaction conditions. By increasing the surface area of the interaction region by stretching the folds, or other “broadening” forms, the number of reaction sites on the interaction region can be reduced. (E.g., if the interaction region was in a folded configuration, by exposing additional reaction sites that were completely or partially hidden or obstructed). For example, the area of the interaction region can be increased by expanding the folding of at least a portion of the reaction area to expose an additional portion of the reaction area, as shown in FIGS. 11A and 11B. In FIG. 11A, an
Increasing the surface area of the interaction region may decrease the degree of interaction under some circumstances and increase the degree of interaction in other cases. Exposure of the additional part of the interaction area exposes an additional functional group that is not a reaction site, but it instead makes some local modifications to the surface properties of the interaction area that modify the degree of reaction or reaction rate. There is a possibility to bring. For example, an exposed functional group can result in at least a local change in pH, surface energy or surface charge. See, for example, US Patent Application 2003/0142901 (A1), which is hereby incorporated by reference.
Related modifications of the interaction region may include increasing the porosity or decreasing the density of the remotely activatable control element. The increase in porosity has an effect similar to the effect on widening the fold shown in FIGS. 11A and 11B in terms of modifying the spacing or exposure of reaction sites, functional groups, etc. See, for example, US Pat. No. 5,643,246, US Pat. No. 5,830,207 and US Pat. No. 6,755,621, which are hereby incorporated by reference.
Changes in the interaction site spacing may increase or decrease the degree of interaction or modify other parameters of the interaction in a manner that depends on the particular reaction and reactant. Heating or cooling the reaction volume can also modify the chemical reaction by modifying the pressure, or pH, or osmotic pressure, or other chemical variation directly related to the reaction in the reaction space.
In some embodiments, the osmotic pump device may include a secondary material in the osmotic chamber, the secondary material having at least one property that can be modified by an electromagnetic field control signal, The concentration can be modified by changing at least one property of the secondary material. Secondary materials may include, for example, materials that are capable of binding, reacting, interacting, or forming a complex with an osmotic pressure generating material. The at least one characteristic may include at least one of solubility, reactivity, dispersion within the infiltration chamber, density, temperature, structure, orientation, alignment, or chemical potential modification mechanism.
In various embodiments described herein, the interaction region may include an interaction site that can interact with or affect the behavior of the osmotic pressure generating material. Secondary materials may be included. The remotely activatable control element may modify the influence of the secondary material. In some embodiments, the secondary material is not localized to the interaction region, but is distributed within the permeation chamber, but may be responsive to electromagnetic control signals.
The secondary material may interact or influence the osmotic pressure generating material in a variety of ways. As a first example, the secondary material may be, specifically or non-specifically, a receptor or other binding site that binds or sequesters the osmotic pressure generating material so that it does not dissolve. 12A and 12B illustrate the interaction between the osmotic
In the example shown in FIGS. 13A and 13B,
In the example of FIGS. 14A and 14B,
様々な触媒の例がコツェブニコフ(Kozhevnikov)による「ファイン・ケミカル・シンセシスのための触媒第2巻、ポリオクソメタレイトによる触媒作用」("Catalysts for Fine Chemical Synthesis, Volume 2,Catalysis by Polyoxometalates";Chipsbooks.com; Bearing dates of 2002 and 1998-2006, printed on 10/21/2005; pp 1-3 (201 pages); Volume 2; Culinary and Hospitality Industry Publications Services); により供給されており、位置するサイトは;http://www.chipsbooks.com/catcem2.htmであり、ここに参考文献として引用する。

It can be any of a variety of effects without limitation. Interactions that occur in the interaction region can change the concentration of the osmotic pressure-generating material in the osmotic chamber by producing reaction products that differ in quantity from the reactants or differ in solubility or chemical activity. It is possible to change the osmotic pressure. In some embodiments, the interaction region facilitates a chemical reaction but is not modified by the chemical reaction, such as a metal such as platinum, an acid-based catalyst, a ribozyme or a DNAzyme. Catalytic nucleic acids such as may be included. Interaction regions include oxidoreductases (eg, glucose oxidase), transferases (glycosyltransferases, kinases / phosphorylases), hydrolases, lyases ), Isomerases, ligases, enzyme complexes and / or cofactors, and the like. Modification of the reaction conditions in the interaction region can also be achieved by heating or cooling at least part of the interaction region or by modifying osmotic pressure or pH, surface charge, or surface energy of at least part of the interaction region. Achievable. Similarly, modifying the reaction conditions in the interaction region may include modifying the parameters of the reaction space within the osmotic pump device, which, for example, modifies the volume of the reaction space, The interaction region is included by heating or cooling in at least a portion of the space, or by modifying the osmotic pressure, pH, temperature, chemical composition, or chemical activity of at least a portion of the reaction space.
In some embodiments, the expansion or other structural change of the remotely activatable control element results in other modifications to the chemical reaction. The magnetic field or electric field control signal produced by the remote control device may have one or both of a defined magnetic field strength or a defined electric field strength. At low frequencies, the electrical and magnetic components of the electromagnetic field can be separated when the field enters the medium. Therefore, in static and quasi-static field applications, the electromagnetic field control signal may be considered as an electric field or as a magnetic field. A quasi-static field is a slowly changing field, that is, with a long waveform with respect to the physical measure involved, or with a frequency that is low compared to the characteristic response frequency of the object or medium; The frequencies that are no longer considered “quasi-static” depend on the magnitude of the electrodynamic properties of the media or structure affected by the field.
