Description

The present invention relates to a membrane separation activated sludge apparatus for treating organic substance-containing water and a method for treating organic substance-containing water with a membrane separation activated sludge apparatus.

Membrane separation activated sludge apparatuses are often used for the treatment of organic substance-containing water. A clear treated water with a low concentration of suspended solids (SS) is obtained, and a sludge concentration (MLSS: Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids) is 5000 versus 2000 to 5000 mg / L in the case of the conventional activated sludge method. Since it can raise with -30000 mg / L, the processing capacity per volume of a processing tank can be raised.

However, the separation membrane used for the membrane separation activated sludge apparatus is expensive, and has a problem that the operation cost for regularly cleaning and replacing the membrane is high.
In view of this problem, there is a method of reducing the operating cost by operating with a high membrane permeation flux (flux), but according to this method, clogging of the membrane proceeds rapidly, and in a short period of time. Therefore, there is a problem that the frequency of membrane replacement increases. For example, when the separation membrane is a microfiltration membrane (MF membrane), the flux is operated at about 0.4 m 3 / m 2 · day.
Furthermore, when trying to operate at high BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) volumetric load, not only will membrane clogging progress rapidly, but biological treatment will also deteriorate and the quality of the treated water will deteriorate. However, there is a problem that the generation of excess sludge increases. Usually, the BOD volumetric load is assumed to be operated at about 0.7 kg / m 3 · day. The amount of BOD processed in a tank per 1 m 3 per day is called BOD volumetric load.

Various attempts have been made in the past to reduce the operating cost, but all still have problems to be solved, and no sufficiently satisfactory technique has been proposed.
For example, in the following Patent Document 1, a technique for improving the film life at a high BOD volume load by adjusting the temperature of the aeration tank has been proposed, but the problem that it cannot sufficiently cope with operation with a high flux is proposed. There is.
Moreover, in the following Patent Document 2, a technique for reducing the sludge generation rate by adjusting the pH of the membrane separation tank is proposed, but there is a problem that it cannot sufficiently cope with a high BOD volume load.

In view of the above-mentioned problems of the prior art, the problem to be solved in the present invention is that the clogging of the membrane is slow even when operated with a high membrane permeation flux (flux) under the condition of a high BOD volume load. An object of the present invention is to provide a membrane separation activated sludge apparatus and a method for treating organic substance-containing water that can reduce the frequency of washing and replacement of the membrane, and further prevent deterioration of the quality of treated water and increase in sludge generation.

As a result of intensive studies on the above problems, a membrane separation activated sludge apparatus for treating organic substance-containing water has an aeration tank and a carrier arranged in series from upstream to downstream, which is the flow direction of organic substance-containing water.

The aeration tank 1 can be configured to be compatible with either a single-stage process or two or more multi-stage processes. Various carriers such as a fluidized bed type carrier and a fixed bed type carrier may be provided. However, since it is necessary to perform aeration sufficiently in order to decompose a large amount of BOD components, a fluidized bed type carrier is particularly preferable. Examples of the fluidized bed type carrier include a gel-like carrier, a plastic carrier, and a fibrous carrier. A method of separating with a screen is preferable.
One type of these carriers may be used, or two or more types may be used in combination.

In addition, when the supply amount of organic substance-containing water and the BOD component are greatly reduced, a predetermined means is used to return sludge from the biological treatment tank 2 and the membrane separation tank 3 described later to the aeration tank 1. It is preferable to provide it.
In this case, the amount of sludge returned to the aeration tank 1 (volume, for example, m 3 / day) is 1Q or less as a ratio to the amount of organic substance-containing water (volume, for example, m 3 / day) to be supplied, for example, 0.1Q to 1Q is preferable.
In addition, in order to maintain the processing efficiency of the aeration tank 1 uniformly, it is preferable to install a predetermined adjustment tank (not shown) for controlling the components and supply amount of the organic substance-containing water in the front stage of the aeration tank 1.

Next, the processing method of organic substance containing water using the membrane separation activated sludge apparatus in this Embodiment is demonstrated.
This treatment method has a step of aeration treatment of organic substance-containing water in the aeration tank 1, a step of biological treatment in the biological treatment tank 2 having a carrier, and a step of separating sludge in the membrane separation tank 3, And a step of returning the separated sludge to the biological treatment tank 2.

In the aeration process, oxidative decomposition of the organic component of organic substance-containing water is performed.
In the biological treatment process, the organic substance-containing water aerated in the aeration tank 1 flows into the biological treatment tank 2 having a carrier, where BOD components are removed, nitrogen is removed, and phosphorus is removed. Digesting, predating, and sludge flocs.
Subsequently, in the membrane separation tank 3, the sludge mixed solution flowing from the biological treatment tank 2 is filtered through a separation membrane, and the sludge is separated to obtain a clear treated water.

And the sludge isolate | separated in the membrane separation tank 3 was returned to the biological treatment tank 2 which has a support | carrier, and the biological treatment process in the biological treatment tank 2 was performed. In this way, once the sludge once separated is returned to the biological treatment tank 2 and further provided with a process for biological treatment, even when operating under high BOD volume load conditions and high flux, The occurrence of clogging of the membrane in the membrane separation tank 3 can be effectively prevented, the frequency of membrane cleaning and replacement can be reduced, and the efficiency can be improved and the operating cost can be reduced.

Moreover, in the process of processing organic substance containing water, after separating sludge in the membrane separation tank 3, you may make it provide the process of returning this sludge to the said biological treatment tank and the said aeration tank, respectively.
This method is effective for maintaining the treatment efficiency of the aeration tank 1 evenly when the flow rate of organic substance-containing water or the organic substance content varies with time.
However, the amount of sludge returned to the aeration tank 1 is 1Q or less as a ratio to the amount (Q) of organic substance-containing water supplied to the aeration tank. If the return amount of sludge exceeds 1Q, the processing efficiency of the aeration tank 1 may be impaired. Therefore, the upper limit value of the return sludge amount is as described above.

Hereinafter, specific examples will be described in detail with reference to comparative examples.
The analysis method applied in the Example and comparative example which are mentioned later is demonstrated.
(Membrane contamination rate)

Example 1
In this example, a membrane separation activated sludge apparatus having the configuration shown in FIG. 1 was used.
The aeration tank 1 (capacity 12L), the biological treatment tank 2 (capacity 12L), and the membrane separation tank 3 (capacity 4L) are connected in series from upstream to downstream in which the organic substance-containing water flows.
A diffuser pipe 7 is installed in each of the tanks 1 to 3 so that aeration is possible.
The biological treatment tank 2 is equally divided into two stages, and fixed bed type carriers 4 are installed on both stages.
The fixed-bed carrier 4 is made of a polyvinylidene chloride fiber having a loop shape of 1.5 cm in length, and a part thereof is fixed to a plastic-coated copper core, and is made into a spiral shape having a length of 60 cm and an outer diameter of 8 cm. What was done was used.
A membrane module (PVDF hollow fiber, pore diameter 0.1 μm, membrane surface area 0.035 m 2 ) is installed in the membrane separation tank 3, and activated sludge in the membrane separation tank is passed through the sludge return pipe 5 by a liquid feed pump. The biological treatment tank 2 is returned to the upstream side (front side) in the water flow direction. Here, the sludge return rate was 2Q (m 3 / day) with respect to the organic substance-containing water amount Q (m 3 / day).
As the organic substance-containing water, an aqueous skim milk solution (BOD of about 1000 mg / L) was used and supplied to the aeration tank 1 at 30 L / day.
After the acclimatization operation for about 3 weeks, keep the BOD volume load at a constant value of 1.5 kg / m 3 · day, the flux at a constant value of 0.7 m 3 / m 2 · day, and the membrane module should be backwashed and membrane washed at all. The operation was continued and the transmembrane pressure difference (TMP) was measured.
The activated sludge in the membrane separation tank 3 was appropriately drawn out and adjusted so that the MLSS in the membrane separation tank 3 was about 15000 mg / L. Since foaming of the aeration tank 1 was observed during the operation period, a nonionic antifoaming agent was appropriately added. Sodium bicarbonate was appropriately added to adjust the pH to about 7.
Table 1 below shows the evaluation results of the above (film contamination rate) and (sludge generation rate) under the above-described conditions.

In Example 1, the transmembrane pressure difference (TMP) increased by 3 kPa after 45 days, and the membrane contamination rate (increased amount of TMP per day) was 0.07 kPa / day, which was extremely small.
Moreover, when the sludge generation rate was calculated from the surplus sludge amount withdrawn during this period and the BOD amount charged, it was an extremely small value of 12%.
The quality of the treated water obtained was confirmed to be a good value with a BOD value of 2 mg / L or less.
In the first embodiment, the membrane-separated sludge is returned to the biological treatment tank, thereby effectively preventing clogging of the membrane in the membrane separation tank 3 and reducing the frequency of membrane cleaning and replacement. It was confirmed that the efficiency was improved and the operating cost was reduced.

(Example 2)
In this example, a membrane separation activated sludge apparatus having the configuration shown in FIG. 2 was used.
Aeration tank 1 (capacity 2 m 3 ), biological treatment tank 2 (capacity 6 m 3 = 2 m 3 × 3 tank), and membrane separation tank 3 (capacity 2 m 3 ) are arranged in series in the direction from upstream to downstream where the organic substance-containing water flows. It is connected to.
The biological treatment tank 2 is equally divided into three stages. In the upper stage, the flow is carried out by propeller stirring and no aeration is performed. A diffuser tube 7 is installed in each of the middle stage and the lower stage, and aeration is possible, and a fixed bed type carrier 4 is installed in each. The fixed-bed carrier 4 is made of a polyvinylidene chloride fiber having a loop shape of 1.5 cm in length, and a part thereof is fixed to a copper core material covered with plastic, having a length of 1.8 m and an outer diameter of 8 cm. A spiral-shaped one was used.
The membrane separation tank 3 is provided with two membrane modules 6 (PVDF hollow fibers, pore diameter 0.1 μm, membrane surface area 12.5 m 2 ). Activated sludge in the film separation tank 3, through the sludge return pipe 5 by the liquid feed pump, the amount of organic matter-containing water Q (m 3 / day) to the aeration tank 1 0.3Q (m 3 / day), biological 4.7Q (m 3 / day) was returned to the treatment tank.
As the organic substance-containing water 8, chemical factory waste water (BOD about 1500 mg / L) was used.
The supply amount of the organic substance-containing water 8 was 10 m 3 / day, and step feed was performed at a ratio of aeration tank: biological treatment tank = 2: 1.
After the acclimatization operation for about 1.5 months, keep the BOD volume load at a constant value of 3.0 kg / m 3 · day and the flux at a constant value of 0.4 m 3 / m 2 , and wash the membrane module 6 by filtration (9 minutes) The operation was continued under the condition of backwashing (1 minute), and the transmembrane pressure difference (TMP) was measured.
The activated sludge in the membrane separation tank 3 was appropriately drawn out and adjusted so that the MLSS in the membrane separation tank 3 was about 12000 mg / L.

In Example 2, TMP increased by 7 kPa after 45 days, and the membrane contamination rate (increased amount of TMP per day) was 0.16 kPa / day, which was sufficiently small for practical use.
Moreover, when the sludge generation rate was calculated from the surplus sludge amount withdrawn during this period and the BOD amount introduced, it was a practically small value of 25%.
The water quality of the finally obtained treated water was confirmed to be a good value with a BOD value of 4 mg / L or less.
In Example 2, by providing a step for returning the membrane-separated sludge to the aeration tank 1 as well, the capacity of the aeration tank 1 is large as in this example, and the supply amount of organic matter-containing water and the BOD component fluctuate. It has been confirmed that even when there is a case, the function of the aeration tank 1 is always effectively utilized and the effect of improving the processing efficiency can be obtained.

(Example 3)
As in Example 1, the aeration tank 1 (capacity 12L), the biological treatment tank 2 (capacity 12L), and the membrane separation tank 3 (capacity 4L) are connected in series from upstream to downstream in which the organic substance-containing water flows. Although the membrane-separated activated sludge apparatus having the structure as described above was used, the carrier 4 in the biological treatment tank 2 was changed to a fluid carrier.
The schematic block diagram of the membrane separation activated sludge apparatus in this example is shown in FIG.
As the fluid carrier 4, a water treatment microorganism carrier “Biocolony” soft urethane sponge (7 mm square carrier) manufactured by Achilles Corporation was used.
After putting the fluid carrier 4 into the biological treatment tank 2 at a volume ratio of 20% and acclimatization, the BOD volumetric load is kept constant at 1.5 kg / m 3 · day and the flux is kept at 0.7 m 3 / m 2 · day. The membrane module 6 was continuously operated without any backwashing or membrane washing, and then the transmembrane pressure difference (TMP) was measured.

In Example 3, the TMP increased by 7 kPa after 45 days, and the membrane contamination rate (increase in TMP per day) was 0.66 kPa / day, which was sufficiently small for practical use.
Moreover, when the sludge generation rate was calculated from the surplus sludge amount withdrawn during this period and the BOD amount charged, it was 30%, which was a practically small value.
The water quality of the finally obtained treated water was confirmed to be a practically good value with a BOD value of 5 mg / L.
Comparing the evaluation results of Example 1 and Example 3, it was confirmed that as the carrier 4 of the biological treatment tank 2, a helical fixed bed type carrier is more suitable.

(Comparative Example 1)
In Comparative Example 1, a membrane separation activated sludge apparatus having the configuration shown in FIG. 4 was applied.
The apparatus of this example does not include an aeration tank, and the biological treatment tank 2 (capacity 24L) and the membrane separation tank 3 (capacity 4L) are connected in series from upstream to downstream in which the organic substance-containing water flows. It becomes the composition.
The biological treatment tank 2 was divided into two equal parts, and no carrier was provided.
Other conditions were the same as in Example 1 described above, and the above (film contamination rate) and (sludge generation rate) were evaluated.
In Comparative Example 1, the BOD volumetric load gradually increased during the acclimatization period, but the transmembrane pressure difference (TMP) increased rapidly when exceeding 1 kg / m 3 · day. Fixed at m 3 · day.
The evaluation results are shown in Table 1 below.

In Comparative Example 1, although the BOD volume load was small, the membrane contamination rate was as high as 1 kPa / day, and practically sufficient treatment efficiency could not be obtained.
Moreover, the BOD density | concentration and sludge generation rate of the finally obtained treated water were also large, and the water quality practically favorable was not securable.

(Comparative Example 2)
In Comparative Example 2, a membrane separation activated sludge apparatus having the configuration shown in FIG. 5 was used.
The apparatus of this example does not include an aeration tank, and the biological treatment tank 2 (capacity 24L) and the membrane separation tank 3 (capacity 4L) are connected in series from upstream to downstream in which the organic substance-containing water flows. It becomes the composition.
The biological treatment tank 2 is divided into two equal parts, and a helical carrier 4 is provided for each.
Other conditions were the same as in Example 1 described above, and the above (film contamination rate) and (sludge generation rate) were evaluated.
In Comparative Example 2, the BOD volumetric load gradually increased during the acclimatization period, but the transmembrane pressure difference (TMP) increased rapidly when exceeding 1 kg / m 3 · day. Fixed at m 3 · day.
The evaluation results are shown in Table 1 below.

In Comparative Example 2, although the BOD volume load was small, the membrane contamination rate was as high as 1 kPa / day, and practically sufficient treatment efficiency could not be obtained.
Moreover, the BOD density | concentration and sludge generation rate of the treated water finally obtained were also high, and the water quality practically favorable was not securable.

In addition, the sludge separated in the membrane separation layer 3 is not returned to the biological treatment tank 2, and the other conditions are as follows. As a result, the membrane contamination rate was increased, and the BOD concentration and sludge generation rate of the finally obtained treated water were significantly increased. This is because the sludge that could not be treated in the biological treatment tank 2 was concentrated on the separation membrane of the membrane separation layer, and the function of the biological treatment tank 2 was not efficiently utilized.

Figure 2008264772
Figure 2008264772

As described above, in Examples 1 to 3, even when operated with a high flux under the condition of a high BOD volume load, clogging of the membrane is slow, and the frequency of cleaning and replacement of the membrane can be reduced. The effect of reducing the cost and extending the life of the device was obtained.
Furthermore, the quality of the treated water finally obtained was good, and an effect of preventing an increase in sludge generation was obtained.
