The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing methanol using coal-derived gas as a raw material, and more specifically, hydrogen recovery from a gas used for methanol synthesis, and addition of carbon dioxide to the supply gas as necessary. Thus, the present invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing methanol that enables effective utilization of resources and reduction of production costs.
(Syngas production process)
First, in a reformer, a gaseous hydrocarbon obtained by vaporizing gaseous hydrocarbon or liquid hydrocarbon and water vapor are reacted at a predetermined temperature under a nickel-based catalyst to produce hydrogen (H 2 ), carbon monoxide (CO ) And carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) as main components.
Steam is added to the hydrocarbon by a humidifier disposed upstream of the reformer, and superheated steam made by a boiler or the like is further supplied to the hydrocarbon to which the steam is added. These hydrocarbon and steam A mixed gas containing is introduced into the reformer. The mixed gas is reacted in a reformer and reformed to the synthesis gas.
Since the steam reforming reaction is an endothermic reaction, the reformer is heated from the outside during the synthesis gas generation process.
(Rough methanol synthesis process)
On the methanol synthesis catalyst, the synthesis gas is reacted with carbon monoxide and hydrogen or carbon dioxide and hydrogen at a predetermined pressure and temperature to synthesize crude methanol.
(Distillation process)
The liquid crude methanol produced in the synthesis step is distilled in one or more distillation towers, an organic compound having a lower boiling point than methanol (hereinafter referred to as a low boiling organic compound), an organic acid and a boiling point than methanol. Is separated into waste water containing a high organic compound (hereinafter referred to as a high boiling point organic compound) and purified methanol.
Methanol is produced through the above-described steps. This is a conventional method for producing methanol.
Recently, as one of the countermeasures against global warming, the need to reduce carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions from factories is increasing.
In a plant that produces methanol from the natural gas, it is necessary for the reaction of carbon monoxide and hydrogen (endothermic reaction) by heating the reaction tube filled with the steam reforming catalyst in the reformer from the surroundings with combustion gas. Is supplying heat. Moreover, in order to supplement the required amount of high-pressure steam consumed in the plant, steam generating boilers are also used. For this reason, a large amount of carbon dioxide is contained in the combustion exhaust gas from the reformer and steam generating boiler. In the future, if the introduction of carbon dioxide emission tax or regulation of carbon dioxide emission is started, the economics of the plant may be reduced.
On the other hand, in the method for producing methanol from natural gas, the hydrogen concentration in the synthesis gas produced by the steam reforming reaction is the concentration required to synthesize methanol by reacting with carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the synthesis gas. It is about 1.5 times that. For this reason, in the synthesis process of methanol, for the purpose of improving the reaction efficiency of the synthesis reactor, the unreacted gas after separating the synthesized methanol is circulated to the synthesis reactor and a part of the unreacted gas is removed from the system. To discharge excess hydrogen. In addition, the circulation amount of the unreacted gas is set to a value that can reduce the heat generation rate during the reaction in the catalyst layer packed in the synthesis reactor.
For this reason, FIG. 5 of Non-Patent
However, if a synthesis gas containing a large amount of carbon dioxide is supplied to the synthesis reactor in the crude methanol synthesis process, the activity of the methanol synthesis catalyst charged in the reactor may be reduced.
In contrast, without increasing the activity of the methanol synthesis catalyst in the methanol synthesis process, the excess hydrogen in the gas produced in the reformer is effectively used to increase the production of methanol, and carbon dioxide. There has been proposed a method for producing methanol capable of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by effectively utilizing
In the method for producing methanol disclosed in
The technique disclosed in
By the way, when it is going to manufacture methanol by the technique of the
When natural gas is used as a raw material gas, the hydrogen concentration in the synthesis gas produced by the steam reforming reaction is the concentration required to synthesize methanol by reacting with carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the synthesis gas. However, when coal-derived gas is used as the raw material gas, the hydrogen concentration in the synthesis gas produced by the steam reforming reaction reacts with carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the synthesis gas. To about 4 to 5 times the concentration required for synthesizing methanol ”. Therefore, the amount of excess hydrogen gas from the theoretical equivalent of hydrogen gas required for methanol synthesis is greatly increased, and the total amount of carbon dioxide gas equivalent to the excess amount is economically obtained from its own plant or from an external plant. It becomes difficult to recover and cover, and the operating cost of the plant rises, which is economically disadvantageous.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described conventional circumstances, and its problem is to achieve both effective use of resources and economical operation in the case of producing methanol using a coal-derived gas as a raw material gas. The method and apparatus for producing methanol using coal-derived gas as a raw material according to the present invention provides effective use of resources and economical operation when methanol is produced using coal-derived gas having a high hydrogen content as a raw material gas. Hereinafter, a method and an apparatus for producing methanol using a coal-derived gas as a raw material according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
(First embodiment)
FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram of an apparatus for producing methanol used in the first embodiment. The apparatus for producing methanol includes a reformer indicated by
In the reforming process by the
A predetermined amount of hydrogen gas is separated and recovered from the humidified source gas by the hydrogen recovery means 5 attached to the
The raw material gas introduced into the
The steam reforming reaction is an endothermic reaction. Therefore, the
CO+2H2 →CH3OH …(1)
CO2 +3H2 →CH3OH+H2O …(2)
The synthesis gas led out from the reaction tube 7 to the flow path 9 is increased in pressure to, for example, 50 to 150 atm by the
CO + 2H 2 → CH 3 OH (1)
CO 2 + 3H 2 → CH 3 OH + H 2 O (2)
Further, impurities such as dimethyl ether and ethanol are generated by side reactions. These impurities and water are contained in liquid crude methanol together with the methanol.
For example, a copper catalyst is used as the methanol synthesis catalyst. In particular, it comprises an oxide containing Cu, Zn, Al, Ga and M (at least one element selected from alkaline earth metal elements and rare earth elements) having high durability in a high-concentration carbon dioxide atmosphere, and the Cu , Zn, Al, Ga and M are blended at a ratio of Cu: Zn: Al: Ga: M = 100: 10 to 200: 1 to 20: 1 to 20: 0.1 to 20 in atomic ratio. The catalyst which has is preferable.
The liquid crude methanol led from the
In the methanol manufacturing apparatus having the above-described configuration, a sampling valve is provided in each flow path as necessary. For example, the raw material
As the hydrogen recovery means 5, a conventional hydrogen separator using a principle such as membrane separation or pressure swing adsorption using a high performance adsorbent is used. The amount of hydrogen gas extracted from the raw material gas in the
In the coal-derived gas used as a raw material, the ratio of hydrogen is very high with respect to the equivalent ratio of carbon / hydrogen in methanol for production purposes. For this reason, the amount of methanol produced per volume of the

FIG. 2 is a schematic configuration diagram of the apparatus for producing methanol used in the second embodiment. In the figure, the same components as those in FIG.

FIG. 3 is a schematic configuration diagram of the methanol production apparatus according to the third embodiment. In FIG. 3, the same components as those in FIG.
The feature of the apparatus for producing methanol of the third embodiment is that a carbon
