Description

The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus such as a facsimile having a user authentication function, a copying machine, a printer, or a combination machine in which these are combined.

Conventionally, when a user makes a copy of a document or transmits a facsimile, user authentication is performed to limit the number of copies for each user or department to which the user belongs, or to limit facsimile transmission. An image processing apparatus that charges or charges is known. In this type of image processing apparatus, when the user performs image forming processing such as copying, or when the user transmits an image or document data from a personal computer connected to the network, the printer function of the image processing apparatus is provided. When performing image forming processing using a computer, the user ID and password are input using the operation panel, the user ID and password are transmitted from the personal computer via the network, or the telephone line is used. There is one in which user authentication for using an image processing apparatus is performed by transmitting a user ID and a password.

However, in an image processing device that performs user authentication using a user ID and password, if the user ID and password are stolen without the knowledge of the legitimate user, the user ID and password were stolen as a legitimate user. There is a possibility that the image processing apparatus may be used by an unauthorized user illegally using a user ID and a password. That is, there is a possibility that the image processing apparatus is illegally used by “spoofing”.

In order to prevent such unauthorized use, Patent Document 1 notifies the user personal computer authenticated through the network that the user authentication has been performed when the user authentication is performed. An image processing apparatus has been proposed.
JP 2004-297680 A

In the image processing apparatus described in Patent Document 1, every time user authentication is performed, the authenticated user's personal computer is notified that the user authentication has been performed. However, although the user is notified of the authentication and unauthorized use can be prevented, the user is disadvantageous in that the notification is transmitted even when the user authenticates himself / herself.
The present invention has been made based on such a background, and can effectively prevent unauthorized use of the image processing apparatus due to “spoofing”, improve security, and receive an authentication notification unnecessary for the user. It is a main object to provide an image processing apparatus that is easy to use without being used.

The invention described in claim 1 is an image processing apparatus that can accept a job, which is a processing content to be executed, by operating an operation unit, and can accept a job from a personal computer or the like via a network. When the user ID and password are input in response to the authentication request and the authentication storage means storing the user ID, password, identification information of the personal computer used by the user, and the user's mail address. It is determined whether or not the user ID and password that have been matched with the user ID and password stored in the authentication storage means, and if they match, the means for outputting authentication, and the user ID and password Based on the input, the entered user ID and password are stored in the authentication storage means. In response to the fact that the means for discriminating whether or not it has been given from a personal computer and the means for discriminating that it has been given from other than the user personal computer and that the authentication has been outputted, are stored in the authentication storage means. And an e-mail transmission means for notifying that the e-mail address has been authenticated and the accepted job.

The invention according to claim 2 is based on the received content in response to receiving the reply mail from the mail address in response to the notification mail transmitted by the mail transmitting means. (2) Disable the connection from the job requesting personal computer for a certain period, (3) Temporarily disable the user account, (4) Change the user password 1 The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising an unauthorized use countermeasure unit configured to perform the above.

According to the first aspect of the present invention, when a user ID and a password are input in response to an authentication request, authentication is performed and whether or not the input user ID and password are given from a user personal computer. Is determined. As a result of determination, when a user ID and password are given from other than the user personal computer, an e-mail is sent to notify the e-mail address stored in the authentication storage means that the authentication has been performed and the accepted job. I do.

By using the stored mail address as the address of the user's information terminal (for example, a mobile phone, a PDA, a notebook computer, etc.), the user can use Immediately know the unauthorized use.
In other words, in the present invention, when authentication is performed, the fact that the authentication has been performed is not always sent by mail, but the authentication is performed by giving the user ID and password for authentication from other than the user personal computer. When this happens, a message to that effect is sent. Moreover, when an unauthorized authentication by impersonation is made by using an information terminal that is always carried by a user such as a mobile phone instead of a user personal computer, the legitimate user immediately receives the fraudulent address. It becomes possible to grasp the usage.

In the configuration of claim 2, a user who knows the unauthorized use sends a reply mail to the mail, so that an appropriate measure against the unauthorized use, for example, stopping the execution of the accepted job, and the user ID and password for unauthorized authentication. For example, you can disable the connection with the computer that sent the message for a certain period of time, temporarily disable the user account, or change the user password. Unauthorized use can be prevented.

According to the present invention, the security of the image processing apparatus can be improved, and an image processing apparatus that can be used with peace of mind by the user can be provided.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is an illustrative block diagram showing the configuration of the entire system including an image processing apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention.
In the description of this embodiment, it is assumed that the image processing apparatus is the digital multifunction peripheral 1.

The digital multifunction device 1 is connected to a network 2. Therefore, data can be transmitted / received to / from the personal computer 3 and the server 4 connected to the network 2 via the network 2. Here, it is assumed that the server 4 is a mail server, and the digital multi-function peripheral 1 can send and receive e-mails to and from the mobile phone 5 owned by the user (account owner) via the server 4.

The outline of the flow of the control operation according to the embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG.
Assume that the personal computer 3 is a personal computer of an unauthorized user, and the unauthorized user has obtained the user ID and password of a legitimate user (account owner). An unauthorized user uses the personal computer 3 to access the digital multifunction peripheral 1 via the network 2 for unauthorized use.

In the digital multi-function peripheral 1, an authentication request is made for access from the personal computer 3, and when a user ID and password are given from the personal computer 3, an authentication process is executed.
Further, the digital multi-function peripheral 1 authenticates the mail address stored in association with the user authentication information (an address other than the mail address registered in the user's personal computer, which is the mail address of the mobile phone 5 in this embodiment). And a mail notifying the job accepted from the personal computer 3 is transmitted. In this transmission, a mail is transmitted from the digital multifunction peripheral 1 to the mail server 4 via the network 2, and is transmitted from the mail server 4 to the mobile phone 5.

The regular user (account owner) knows that the authentication has been performed and the contents of the accepted job by the mobile phone 5.
As a result, the authorized user knows that the digital multifunction peripheral 1 is illegally used in his / her account even though he / she is not using the digital multifunction peripheral 1.
Therefore, a legitimate user (account owner) uses the mobile phone 5 to send a reply mail to the digital multi-function peripheral 1 via the mail server 4 and the network 2, thereby stopping the execution of the accepted job and the job request. Disabling the connection from the original personal computer 3 for a certain period, temporarily disabling his / her account, changing his / her password, etc. can be performed by so-called remote operation.

The personal computer 3 is a personal computer other than a personal user registered personal computer. However, if a regular user accesses the digital multi-function peripheral 2 from the personal computer via the network, the digital personal computer 3 is digital. The multifunction device 1 determines that the personal computer identification information registered in association with the user authentication information is the same as the accessed personal computer, and does not perform the above mail transmission process.

FIG. 2 is a block diagram of the configuration of the digital multifunction peripheral 1. The digital multi-function peripheral 1 includes a control unit 11 configured by a CPU, a memory 12 connected to the control unit 11, an image processing engine controlled by the control unit 11 (a scanner mechanism for reading an image, and forming an image). An engine 13 for realizing an image forming mechanism or the like is included.
The block diagram of FIG. 2 shows only what is necessary for explaining the following control operation, and the digital multifunction peripheral 1 includes other elements such as an operation panel and a display unit. These are omitted for convenience of explanation.

The memory 12 includes at least a “user authentication information table” 14. The user authentication information table 14 is an authentication storage unit in which information necessary for user authentication is stored.
Table 1 exemplifies specific examples of information stored in the user authentication information table 14.

Figure 2006270414

In the block diagram shown in FIG. 2, the control unit 11 uses the information in the user authentication information table 14 to determine whether an authentication output in response to an authentication request, a user ID and a password are given from a user personal computer, Processing such as authentication of the user's mail address and mail transmission for notifying the accepted job is performed.
FIG. 3 is a flowchart of the authentication processing result notification transmission operation performed by the control unit 11 shown in FIG.

The control unit 11 of the digital multi-function peripheral 1 determines whether authentication is necessary when a job is sent from the personal computer 3 to the digital multi-function peripheral 1 via the network 2 (step S1). As a result, when it is determined that authentication is necessary, an authentication request is made to the personal computer 3. In response to the authentication request, the personal computer 3 inputs a user ID and a password and sends them to the digital multi-function peripheral 1 via the network 2 (step S2).

The digital multi-function peripheral 1 compares the user ID and password sent to the user ID and password stored in the user authentication information table 14 to determine whether or not the user ID and password are correct (step S3). ).
As a result, if the user ID and password are correct, it is further determined whether or not the user's mail address is registered in the user authentication information table 14 (step S4). If the user's mail address is registered, it is further determined whether or not user personal computer information is registered (step S5). Then, it is determined whether or not the personal computer 3 which is the transmission source of the user ID and password given in step S2 is a personal computer having an IP address registered as user personal computer information (step S6).

As a result of the determination in steps S4 to S6, when the user's mail address is registered, the user personal computer information is registered, and the user ID and password are given from a personal computer other than the registered personal computer, the user is registered. A mail for notifying that the authentication has been performed and the accepted job is transmitted to the mail address (step S7).
Then, a predetermined time until the mail reply is made is waited as necessary, and the given job is started (step S8).

FIG. 4 is an operation flow chart at the time of reception of the mobile phone 5 (see FIG. 1) to which a mail is sent by the process shown in FIG. When the mobile phone 5 receives the mail (step P1), the mail text (notification information) is displayed (step P2).
An example of the mail text is shown in Table 2.

Figure 2006270414
Figure 2006270414

The user confirms the notification information and decides whether to create a reply mail.
At least the job ID and processing command are entered in the reply mail body.
Table 3 shows an example of the processing command. The symbol of the command and the processing contents corresponding to the command are included in the mail received in steps P1 and P2, and it is convenient for usability to be notified to the user every time the mail arrives. It is.

Figure 2006270414
Figure 2006270414

However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the user may be informed of the command and the content of the process in advance, and the user may input a process command that is known in advance.
If it is determined in step P3 in FIG. 4 that a reply mail has been created, the mail is transmitted (step P4).
FIG. 5 is a flowchart showing the control operation of the digital multi-function peripheral 1 that has received the reply mail from the mobile phone 5.

When the digital multi-function peripheral 1 determines that a reply mail has been received (step S11), it obtains a job ID from the text of the received reply mail (step S12).
Then, it is determined whether a job having the acquired job ID exists as an unexecuted or executing job (step S13).
Also, as a precaution, it is determined whether or not the transmitted mail address matches the source address of the reply mail (step S14). If both the determinations in steps S13 and S14 are affirmed, a processing command is acquired from the reply mail body (step S15). This processing command is “JC”, “CC”, “AS” or [PC: XXXXXXX ”shown in FIG.

Then, it is determined whether or not the acquired processing command is correct (step S16). If the processing command is correct, processing according to the processing command is executed (step S17).
With this process, it is possible to deal with unauthorized use.
The present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, and various modifications can be made within the scope of the claims.
