Description

The present invention relates to a distortion compensation amplifier, and more particularly to a distortion compensation amplifier that detects and feeds back distortion remaining in an output.

A block of a distortion compensation amplifier of a digital predistortion system (hereinafter referred to as “DPD system”), which is a conventional technique, will be described with reference to FIG.
1 is a digital predistortion signal processing unit (DPD signal processing unit), 2 is an amplitude / phase modulator, 3 is a power amplification unit (AMP), 4 is a directional coupler (coupler), 5 is a circulator, and 6 is a duplexer ( DUP), 7 is a distortion detection circuit (distortion DET), 8 is a reflected wave detection circuit, 10 is a DPD calculation unit, 11 is a multicarrier modulation wave IQ generation unit, 12 is a distortion compensation calculation unit, and 13 is a reflection wave calculation unit. is there.
The DPD signal processing unit 1 includes a DPD calculation unit 10 and a reflected wave calculation unit 13, and the DPD calculation unit 10 includes a multicarrier modulation wave IQ generation unit 11 and a distortion compensation calculation unit 12. The reflected wave calculation unit 13 calculates VSWR from the traveling wave and the reflected wave of the transmission signal power.
IQ data (orthogonal data) of transmission data generated by the DPD signal processing unit 1 is subjected to orthogonal modulation and frequency conversion (UP-CONV) into a high frequency signal by the amplitude / phase modulator 2.
As an example, the power amplifying unit 3 that is Main-Amp amplifies the power of a multicarrier modulated wave that is UP-CONV to the 2 GHz band to a predetermined output.
The directional coupler 4 is a traveling wave signal for detecting distortion included in a transmission high frequency signal amplified by the DPD method, with a main modulation wave and a partial power of intermodulation distortion (IM) components such as third order and fifth order. For directional coupling. (In one example, the degree of coupling at a 30 dB attenuation point with respect to the traveling wave signal level.)
The distortion detection circuit 7 performs frequency conversion (DOWN) of the transmission signal component of the attenuation level combined by the directional coupler 4 and the distortion component (third order, fifth order, seventh order, etc.) included in the transmission signal component into a low frequency signal. -CONV), including a circuit that limits the band and captures the signal by an analog / digital converter (A / D), and an output signal thereof is sent to the distortion compensation calculation unit 12 of the DPD signal processing unit 1.
Further, the transmission signal power, which is the main signal, passes through the directional coupler 4 as one direction signal, passes through the circulator 5 (for VSWR calculation) that passes the reflected wave as the other direction signal, and then the duplexer 6. The band is limited by (DUP) and supplied to the antenna (ANT).
In order to detect the reflected wave generated in the ANT, the reflected wave that has passed through the DUP in the reverse direction is passed as the other direction signal by the circulator 5, and the other direction signal is supplied to the reflected wave detection circuit 8. After DOWN-CONV, the bandwidth is limited and the data is taken into A / D.

In recent years, in a mobile communication system, in order to make a base station respond to an increase in the number of users and traffic, antennas of a plurality of communication systems using the same frequency band are arranged close to each other in the same base station. The transmission frequency is overcrowded, and the degree of radio wave interference between antennas is increasing.
On the other hand, the actual system equipment has been required to have a value higher than the transmission mutual change characteristic defined in the 3GPP standard (standard of the third generation mobile communication system).
In the conventional system, the distortion detection circuit 7 that detects distortion generated in the power amplification unit 3 that is Main-Amp is disturbed by interference waves such as other carriers (adjacent carriers) mixed from the ANT, so that the original transmission signal power is obtained. Since only the included distortion information cannot be obtained, the processing of the DPD signal processing unit malfunctions, and correct distortion compensation processing cannot be performed. Table 1 shows the level diagram of interference waves entering from other carriers.

As shown in the table 1 level diagram, as an example, the specified output of the transmission signal power of the power amplifying unit 3 (AMP) is +43 dBm (E point, DUP output terminal), and the ANT interference wave power is +30.0 dBm (specified output terminal). In this case, the relative level of the transmission signal distortion is 65.0 dBc (specified output ratio, distortion DET input terminal; FIG. 4, point F), and the relative level of other ANT interference waves is 13.0 dBc at the specified output ratio. Become. Further, this reverse direction signal receives the attenuation amount of 25 dB for the reverse attenuation of the directional coupler 4 (coupler) and the circulator 5, respectively, and the distortion detection circuit 7 (distortion DET) input terminal (point F in FIG. 4). The specified output ratio is 63.0 dBc.
In this case, the level of the interference wave (specified output ratio 63.0 dBc) is 2 dB larger than the originally desired transmission signal distortion level (mainly IM5 which is adjacent leakage power, specified output ratio 65.0 dBc). An error will occur in subsequent signal processing.
As a result, spurious may occur due to the influence of other ANT interference waves, and the transmitter characteristics of the requested local station may break the standard.
FIG. 5 shows a spectrum state in which an abnormal spectrum that cannot be ignored from other ANTs is mixed in the same frequency band, taking a two-signal frequency characteristic as an example.
FIG. 6 shows a normal spectrum state where there is no other ANT interference wave at the input end of the distortion detection circuit 7 (distortion DET).
Some conventional distortion compensation amplifiers using a predistortion system use a directional coupler (see, for example, Patent Documents 1 and 2).

The directional coupler, the at least one directional element, and the circulator have a directional level sum of 50 dB or more.
Furthermore, the distortion compensation amplifier of the present invention is a digital predistortion amplifier that inputs a digital quadrature signal, converts it into a radio frequency and amplifies it,

According to the present invention, since the level of the interference wave of another carrier mixed from the ANT is sufficiently suppressed at the input end of the distortion detection circuit with respect to the level of the distortion component of the power amplification unit, there is an interference wave. Even in this case, the distortion component of the power amplification unit can be detected without error, and a highly accurate DPD-type distortion compensation amplifier can be realized, so that the transmission intermodulation can obtain a sufficient margin with respect to the standard.
Further, if the intermodulation characteristics are improved, the ANT system installation work is simplified by shortening the separation distance between the plurality of ANTs, and the working time can be shortened.

本来の信号成分との遅延合わせには、例えばDLL(Delay Locked Loop)を用いる。
FIG. 1 shows a block diagram of a distortion compensating amplifier according to a first embodiment of the present invention, and the configuration and operation of the invention will be described with reference to FIG.
1 is a digital predistortion signal processor (DPD signal processor), 2 is an amplitude / phase modulator (analog quadrature modulator), 3 is a power amplifier (AMP), 4 is a directional coupler (coupler), 20 is Isolator, 5 is a circulator, 6 is a duplexer (DUP), 7 is a distortion detection circuit (distortion DET), 8 is a reflected wave detection circuit, 10 is a DPD calculation unit, 11 is a multicarrier modulation wave IQ generation unit, and 12 is distortion compensation A calculation unit 13 is a reflected wave calculation unit.
The DPD signal processing unit 1 receives transmission data and is composed of a DPD calculation unit 10 and a reflected wave calculation unit 13. The DPD calculation unit 10 further generates a multicarrier modulation wave IQ that generates a multicarrier IQ modulation wave signal. And a distortion compensation calculation unit 12 that performs an operation of compensating for distortion of transmission signal power detected by the unit 11 and the distortion detection circuit 7. The reflected wave calculation unit 13 detects the reflected wave level from the antenna of the transmission signal power. At this time, an antenna including an interference wave level may be induced from another antenna to the antenna.
Transmission data generated as IQ data (orthogonal data) by the DPD signal processing unit 1 is subjected to orthogonal modulation and frequency conversion (UP-CONV) into a high frequency signal by the amplitude / phase modulator 2.
As an example, a transmission high-frequency signal that is a multicarrier modulation wave that is UP-CONV up to the 2 GHz band is input to the power amplification unit 3 that is Main-Amp, and is amplified to a predetermined output.
The directional coupler 4 is for branching out and taking out part of the power amplified transmission high-frequency signal that is the output of the power amplifier 3, and is generated during amplification included in the power amplified transmission high-frequency signal. In order to detect the generated distortion component, the main modulation wave and the partial power of the traveling wave of the intermodulation distortion (IM) component such as the third and fifth orders are directionally coupled. (In one example, it is the degree of coupling at a 30 dB attenuation point with respect to a traveling wave signal. Note that, for a reflected wave or the like (signal from the reverse direction), in addition to the degree of coupling 30 dB, there is an additional 25 dB as reverse attenuation. )
The isolator 20 receives the transmission signal power that is the output of the directional coupler 4 in the traveling direction and outputs it with almost no attenuation. As an example, a signal from an opposite direction such as an interference wave entering from an antenna is attenuated by 20 dB.
The distortion detection circuit 7 is a low-frequency signal that transmits a transmission signal component of a level that is attenuated by about 30 dB by the directional coupler 4 and a distortion component (third order, fifth order, seventh order, etc.) included in the transmission signal component. Frequency conversion (DOWN-CONV), band limitation and analog / digital converter (A / D) capture. The output signal is sent to the distortion compensation calculation unit 12 of the DPD signal processing unit 1.
The circulator 5 has three terminals, the connection end with the isolator 20 is the (A) terminal, the connection end with the duplexer 6 is the (B) terminal, and the connection end with the reflected wave detection circuit 8 is the (C) terminal. , The transmission signal power as the main signal passes through without being attenuated as a traveling wave signal from (a) to (b) and is input to the duplexer 6.
The reflected wave and the interference wave are attenuated and passed as a reverse signal from (b) to (b). The attenuation level is 25 dB as an example. Further, the reflected wave and the interference wave pass without being attenuated as a traveling wave signal from (b) to (c), and this is input to the reflected wave detection circuit 8. In order to calculate the ratio of traveling wave power to reflected wave power (VSWR), the reflected wave detection circuit 8 limits the band after DOWN-CONV and imports it into the A / D to detect the reflected wave level. The VSWR is calculated by the reflected wave calculation unit 13 so as to avoid the influence of the interference wave by detecting the level of the correlation value with the original signal component such as IQ data. For example, DLL (Delay Locked Loop) is used for delay matching with the original signal component. When VSWR exceeds a specified value, an alarm is generated, the power amplifying unit 3 is stopped, and the like.
The transmission signal power input to the duplexer 6 is passed through a band-pass filter having a predetermined transmission signal band, and is output as the transmission signal power of a band-limited defined output.
The transmission signal power output from the duplexer 6 is supplied to the antenna (ANT) via the terminal at the specified output end.
Therefore, the transmission high-frequency signal output from the isolator 20 passes through the circulator 5 (for VSWR calculation) and the duplexer 6 (DUP) almost losslessly and is radiated from the antenna (ANT) as transmission signal power of a prescribed output that is band-limited. Is done.

As shown in the table 2 level diagram, as an example, the specified output of the transmission signal power of the power amplifying unit 3 (AMP) is +43 dBm (E point, specified output end = DUP output end), and the ANT interference wave power is +30. 0 dBm (specified output end = DUP output end), the relative level of transmission signal distortion is 65.0 dBc (specified output ratio, distortion DET input end; FIG. 1, point F), and relative to other ANT interference waves The level is assumed to be 13.0 dBc at the specified output ratio.
The reverse signal, which is another ANT interference wave, has a value of 70 dB by adding 25 dB as the reverse attenuation of the circulator 5, 20 dB as the reverse attenuation of the isolator 20, and 25 dB as the reverse attenuation of the coupler 4. obtain.
Therefore, the specified output ratio is 83.0 dBc (13 + 70) at the input end (point F in FIG. 4) of the distortion detection circuit 7 (distortion DET).
Therefore, the level of the interference wave (specified output ratio 83.0 dBc) is 18 dB lower than the original transmission signal distortion level (IM5, which is mainly adjacent leakage power, specified output ratio 65.0 dBc). If the difference is ensured, the DPD operation using the correct distortion component becomes possible, and signal processing without a sufficient error can be performed.

メモリAはFPGA(フィールドプログラマブルゲートアレイLSI)により実現してもよい。

Next, FIG. 8 shows a block diagram of the reflected wave calculation unit which is the fifth embodiment of the present invention. The present embodiment explains details of VSWR detection by correlation processing, and can be applied to any of the configurations of the first to fourth embodiments described above.
For example, the output from the multicarrier modulated wave IQ generation unit 11 is input to the reflected wave calculation unit 13 as a modulation processing signal.
Reference numeral 131 denotes a transmission signal that is a signal to be transmitted (a baseband signal having an in-phase component and a quadrature component) input to the reflected wave calculation unit 13, accumulates waveform data as the signal A, and a signal processing unit (DSP) This is a memory A that exchanges data and stores DSP processing data. The memory A may be realized by an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array LSI).
On the other hand, the return signal via the antenna (ANT) may be a combined wave of a combined wave by an output signal of another distortion compensation amplifier in addition to a reflected wave of the output signal of its own distortion compensation amplifier.
Such a return signal is input to the reflected wave calculation unit 13 as an analog return signal detected via the circulator 5 and the reflected wave detection circuit 8. Although not shown, the reflected wave detection circuit 8 may be replaced with a circuit in which a reflected wave power meter, an attenuator, and an analog demodulator are connected in series to form a baseband signal having an in-phase component and a quadrature component.
Reference numeral 132 denotes an AD converter that digitally converts the analog return signal input to the reflected wave calculation unit 13 and outputs the signal B as a digital signal.
Reference numeral 133 denotes a memory B that accumulates the waveform data of the signal B output from the AD converter, exchanges data with the signal processing unit (DSP), and accumulates DSP processing data. The memory B may be realized by an FPGA.
134 performs digital signal processing using the waveform data of the modulation processing signal stored in the memory A and the waveform data of the modulation processing signal stored in the memory B, and calculates the average power value, the correlation value, and the calculation result. Judgment is made to determine whether the return signal from the antenna is a reflected wave from the output signal of its own distortion compensation amplifier or a combined wave from the output signal of another distortion compensation amplifier, and alarm information is output. It is a signal processing unit performed in The signal processing unit is realized by a DSP (digital signal processing LSI) element. Instead of the DSP, a CPU or FPGA may be used.
When an antenna duplexer is used to connect a plurality of distortion compensation amplifiers to one antenna and share the antenna, the return signal is the return signal from the antenna duplexer in addition to the return signal from the antenna. It may be.

FIG. 8 shows a process flowchart of the reflected wave calculation unit which is the fifth embodiment of the present invention.
S1 is an operation start (Start) step of starting the processing of the reflected wave calculation unit according to the fifth embodiment of the present invention, accumulating the signal A in the memory A, and accumulating the signal B in the memory B.
S2 is a step of obtaining an average power A by calculating an average power value of the signal A which is a transmission signal. The form of the signal A, which is the transmission signal stored in the memory A, is expressed as the sum of the in-phase component (Re) and the quadrature component (Im). This is a signal in which in-phase components and quadrature components of N samples are accumulated.
The average power A (Ptx) of the transmission signal is calculated by the following equation.

S3 is a step of obtaining an average power B by calculating an average power value of the signal B which is a return signal. The form of the signal B, which is the return signal stored in the memory B, is expressed as the sum of the in-phase component (Ir) and the quadrature component (Qr). This is a signal in which in-phase components and quadrature components of N samples are accumulated.
The average power B (Prx) of the return signal is calculated by the following equation.

S4 is a step of calculating an autocorrelation value of the signal A that is a transmission signal to obtain a correlation value AA (Rtx).
In order to extract the output signal component of the other distortion compensation amplifier from the combined wave of the output signal of the other distortion compensation amplifier in addition to the reflected wave of the output signal of the own distortion compensation amplifier, the output of the own distortion compensation amplifier It is noted that the scramble code that is indispensable for each signal configuration differs between the signal and the output signal of the other distortion compensation amplifier. It becomes possible by performing correlation calculation as a method for identifying these.
First, the autocorrelation value of the signal A is calculated, and the correlation value AA (Rtx) is calculated by the following equation. Re * Re and Im * Im are autocorrelation calculations, and Re * Im and Im * Re are cross-correlation calculations.

S5 is a step of obtaining a correlation value AB by calculating a cross-correlation value between the signal A as a transmission signal and the signal B as a return signal.
Similarly, the cross-correlation value of the signal B is calculated, and the correlation value AB (Rrx) is calculated by the following equation.

S6 calculates the ratio between the obtained correlation value AA (Rtx) and the correlation value AB (Rrx) to obtain the ratio AB (α), and further multiplies the ratio AB (α) by the average power A (Ptx). In this step, the value obtained as a result of the multiplication is subtracted from the average power B (Prx) to obtain a detection value as a combined power component of the output signal of another distortion compensation amplifier.
As a result, a detection value (Px) that is an output signal component of another distortion compensation amplifier can be calculated.

S7 is a determination step for comparing the detected value (Px) obtained in S6 with a predetermined threshold value.
S8 determines YES in the process of S7, that is, determines that an abnormality has occurred in the other distortion compensation amplifier because the combined power component of the output signal of the other distortion compensation amplifier is equal to or greater than a predetermined value. This is a step of warning an alarm using the situation as alarm information.
S9 is NO in the process of S7, that is, it is determined that the other distortion compensation amplifier is normal because the combined power component of the output signal of the other distortion compensation amplifier is equal to or less than a predetermined value, or an alarm This is a step of ending (End) indicating that the processing of the warning S8 is completed.

Next, an alarm in which the reflected wave of its own transmission signal exceeds a specified level in the determination step S7 will be described. The transmission signal of the specified output output from the duplexer 6 is supplied to the antenna (ANT) via the terminal of the specified output terminal E. However, when a connection failure or a failure occurs in the line between the duplexer 6 and the antenna, the impedance of the transmission line cannot be matched, and most of the transmission power is reflected and returned toward the power amplifier 3. The transmission signal is not transmitted normally.
Therefore, in the detection value (Px) that is the expression (5) that can be evaluated, the signal B is only the reflected wave of the output signal that is its own transmission signal. Therefore, in this case, the signal A and the signal B have a correlation, and the correlation value AB (Rrx) ≈correlation value AA (Rtx) in consideration of the calculation error. That is, the ratio AB (α) is approximated to 1. Further, since the transmission line between the duplexer 6 and the antenna is almost lossless, if the reflected wave signal is corrected by the reflected wave calculation unit 13, the transmission signal power and the reflected wave power are calculated in consideration of calculation errors. It can be said that they match. Therefore, since α≈1, the detection value (Px) converges to 0.

Px=Prx−e×Ptx≒P e∝1で表わされる。
Next, an explanation will be given of an alarm in which the amount of return that has entered in order to be returned to the own transmission system from another amplifier or the like in the determination step S7 exceeds a specified value.
The transmission signal of the specified output output from the duplexer 6 is supplied to the antenna (ANT) via the terminal of the specified output terminal E.
The connection and equipment are normal in the line between the duplexer 6 and the antenna, the impedance matching of the transmission line is normally performed, and the transmission signal of the prescribed transmission power is normally supplied to the antenna.
Therefore, in the detected value (Px), which is an expression (5) that can be evaluated, the signal B is its own transmission signal, but there is almost no reflected wave of the output signal, and the output signal of the other amplifier is the own transmission system. There is a return signal.
Therefore, in this case, the signal A and the signal B have no correlation, and the correlation value AB (Rrx) is a minute value compared to the correlation value AA (Rtx), that is, the ratio AB (α) is 1 or less. Is a minute value e.
In addition, the reflected power corrected by the reflected wave calculation unit 13 with respect to the attenuated reflected wave signal and the transmission signal power have no correlation and take independent power values.
Therefore, the detected value (Px), which is the expression (5) that can be evaluated, obtains a calculated value P that is a certain value. The calculated value P is not 0, but is an attenuated signal that has entered from the antenna due to the output signal of another amplifier, and is a value smaller than the transmission signal power value Ptx even if correction is considered in the reflected wave calculation unit 13. Yes 0 <P <Ptx.
Px = Prx−e × Ptx≈P e∝1
Therefore, with this evaluation formula, it is possible to distinguish between the case of poor connection or failure in its own distortion compensation amplifier and the case of intrusion from another amplifier by the value of the calculation result, and an alarm according to the factor can be activated. Is possible.
