Description

The present invention relates to a disc brake pad including a friction material that generates a braking force by being brought into sliding contact with a disc, and a back plate that supports the back surface of the friction material. Alternatively, the present invention relates to a disc brake including the pad.

Conventionally, various pads are known. For example, the pad described in Patent Document 1 is known.
The pad according to Patent Document 1 includes a friction material and a back plate, and the back plate is formed with a lightening portion that reduces bending rigidity. For this reason, the pad has a bending natural frequency smaller than the natural frequency of the disk due to the thinned portion. For this reason, the pad is configured to be able to suppress the generation of brake noise due to the difference in natural frequency with the disk.
However, frictional heat is generated when the friction material is brought into sliding contact with the disk. And the thermal expansion coefficient of a friction material and the thermal expansion coefficient of a back plate differ. Therefore, when frictional heat is generated, the pad warps in the plate thickness direction.

For example, the pad warps in a convex shape around the center of the sliding surface of the friction material. As a result, the sliding contact area between the friction material and the disk is reduced, the friction material is locally heated, and the amount of wear at the central portion is increased.
Therefore, when the brake operation is stopped and the temperature of the pad is lowered, the central portion is depressed, and when the friction material is pressed against the disk in this state, only the outer peripheral portion of the friction material slides on the disk. As a result, there has been a problem that abnormal noise is likely to occur. Another problem is that the aggressiveness to the disc is high and brake vibration is likely to occur.

Therefore, in order to solve the above-described problem, a mode in which the entire back plate is thickened in the plate thickness direction to prevent the pad from warping in the plate thickness direction can be considered. However, in the case of this embodiment, not only does the pad become heavier, but the caliper becomes larger in the disc axial direction and the entire disc brake becomes heavier.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a pad for a disc brake that can be reasonably suppressed from warping in the plate thickness direction due to frictional heat.

In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention is a disc brake pad or a disc brake having a configuration as described in each claim.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the friction material is fixed to the back plate in order to prevent the pad from warping in the plate thickness direction due to frictional heat generated when the friction material is brought into sliding contact with the disk. A reinforcing portion that reinforces the back plate is formed over the entire circumference of the outer peripheral edge of the back surface that is the opposite surface of the front surface.
Therefore, the back plate is suppressed from warping in the plate thickness direction by the reinforcing portion. For this reason, even when frictional heat is generated, the pad is suppressed from warping in the plate thickness direction by the reinforcing portion of the back plate.

The reinforcing portion is formed on the back surface of the back plate. Therefore, the reinforcing portion can be formed on the back surface of the back plate without being restricted by the friction material.
Moreover, the reinforcement part is formed over the outer periphery whole periphery of the back surface of a backplate. Therefore, the back plate can be suppressed from warping in all directions in the plate thickness direction, for example, the center of the longitudinal axis and the center of the short axis by the reinforcing portion.
Further, since the outer peripheral edge of the back plate is reinforced by the reinforcing portion, the strength of the central portion can be reduced. Therefore, the pad can be reduced in weight by reducing the thickness of the central portion of the back plate.

According to the invention which concerns on Claim 2, the reinforcement part is convexly and integrally formed in the back surface of the backplate.
Accordingly, the reinforcing portion can be configured simply.

According to the invention which concerns on Claim 3, the front side convex part which protrudes along the side edge of a friction material is formed in the surface of a back plate.
Therefore, it is possible to suppress the displacement of the friction material on the surface of the back plate by the front side convex portion. Thus, peeling of the friction material from the back plate can be suppressed by the front side convex portion.

According to a fourth aspect of the invention, the disc brake includes the pad according to the second aspect of the invention and a pressing member that presses the pad toward the disc. And the recessed part enclosed by the reinforcement part is formed in the back surface center part of the back board of a pad, and the press member is the structure which presses only the bottom face of a recessed part.
Therefore, the center of the pad can be reliably pressed by the pressing member.

According to the fifth aspect of the present invention, the shim is interposed between the pad and the pressing member. A shim is provided in the recess of the back plate of the pad.
Therefore, the shim is restricted from moving in the thickness direction by the pad and the pressing member. Further, the shim is restricted from moving in the surface direction by the wall surface of the recess. Thus, the shim can be held between the pad and the pressing member stably and simply.

(Embodiment 1)
The first embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS.
As shown in FIG. 1, the disc brake 10 is a floating disc brake and has a mounting 11 fixed to the vehicle body side and a caliper 12 supported so as to be movable with respect to the mounting 11.
As shown in FIG. 2, the disc brake 10 has a pair of pads 1, and each pad 1 includes a friction material 2 and a back plate 3.

As shown in FIG. 1, the caliper 12 straddles the disk D in the disk axial direction outside the outer periphery of the disk D, and is supported by the mounting 11 via the slide pins 14.
Two pistons 13 are provided on the inner side (vehicle body side) of the caliper 12, and a claw portion 12a is formed on the outer side (vehicle body outer side).

The piston 13 presses the inner pad 1 toward the disk D. When the inner pad 1 is pressed against the disk D by the piston 13, the caliper 12 is moved to the inner side (right side in the figure) by the pressing reaction force, and the claw portion 12a of the caliper 12 is moved to the outer pad. 1 is pressed toward the disk D.
Thus, the pair of pads 1 are pressed against the disk D by the cooperation of the piston 13 and the claw portion 12a. The piston 13 and the claw portion 12a are members corresponding to the pressing members described in the claims.

The pad 1 has a friction material 2 and a back plate 3 as shown in FIGS.
The friction material 2 generates a frictional force by being brought into sliding contact with the disk D. The friction material 2 is supported on the back surface by the back plate 3.
The back plate 3 is formed by press molding a metal material or by forging the metal material.
As shown in FIG. 3, the back plate 3 has a pair of ear portions 3a, and has a recess 3c and a reinforcing portion 3b on the back surface.

The pair of ears 3 a protrudes from both end edges of the back plate 3 in the disk circumferential direction. And although the illustration to the figure is abbreviate | omitted, the ear | edge part 3a is latched so that the movement to the guide part recessedly provided in the mounting 11 is possible. Thus, the back plate 3 is supported so as to be movable in the disk axial direction with respect to the mounting 11.

The recess 3 c is formed at the center of the back surface of the back plate 3. Accordingly, the central portion of the back plate 3 is thinner than the outer peripheral portion.
The reinforcing portion 3 b is formed along the outer peripheral edge of the back surface of the back plate 3, and is formed convexly and integrally on the back surface of the back plate 3. Therefore, the outer peripheral edge of the back plate 3 is thicker than the center portion. And the cross-sectional shape of the back plate 3 has a substantially U-shaped cross section as shown in FIG. Thus, the back plate 3 is reinforced by the reinforcing portion 3b and has a high rigidity.
Moreover, the reinforcement part 3b is formed over the perimeter of the outer periphery of the backplate 3, and has a cyclic structure.

As shown in FIG. 2, a shim 4 is interposed between the pad 1 and the piston 13 to suppress abnormal noise of the brake. A shim 4 is also interposed between the pad 1 and the claw portion 12a.
The shim 4 is formed from a metal plate such as stainless steel having a lower frictional resistance than the back plate 3 or the like.

As shown in FIG. 3, the shim 4 is configured to be slightly smaller than the bottom surface shape of the recess 3 c of the back plate 3 and is provided in the recess 3 c. Therefore, the amount of movement of the shim 4 in the surface direction with respect to the back plate 3 is regulated by the wall surface of the recess 3c.
The inner shim 4 and the pad 1 are pressed by the two pistons 13. 3 and 4, these pistons 13 are configured to press only the bottom surface of the recess 3c of the back plate 3 via the shim 4 and not the reinforcing portion 3b.
On the other hand, the outer shim 4 and the pad 1 are pressed by the claw portion 12a of the caliper 12, as shown in FIG. And the nail | claw part 12a is a structure which presses only the bottom face of the recessed part 3c of the backplate 3 via the shim 4, and does not press the reinforcement part 3b.

The pad 1 and the disc brake 10 are formed as described above.
That is, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the back plate 3 is formed with a reinforcing portion 3 b over the entire circumference of the outer peripheral edge of the back surface, which is the opposite surface of the surface to which the friction material 2 is fixed.
Therefore, the back plate 3 is suppressed from warping in the plate thickness direction by the reinforcing portion 3b. Therefore, the pad 1 is prevented from warping in the plate thickness direction by the reinforcing portion 3b of the back plate 3 even when frictional heat is generated.

Thus, the pad 1 has a high flatness with respect to the disk D not only at a low temperature but also at a high temperature. For this reason, the pad 1 has a stable surface pressure even when frictional heat is generated. Therefore, the effectiveness of the brake is stabilized, brake noise is reduced, and brake vibration is reduced.

Further, the reinforcing portion 3 b is formed on the back surface of the back plate 3. Therefore, the reinforcing portion 3 b can be formed on the back surface of the back plate 3 without being restricted by the friction material 2.
The reinforcing portion 3b is formed over the entire outer peripheral edge of the back surface of the back plate 3. Therefore, the back plate 3 is warped by the reinforcing portion 3b in all directions in the thickness direction, for example, the center of the longitudinal axis (axis center parallel to the X axis in FIG. 3) and the center of the short axis (axis center parallel to the Y axis). This can be suppressed.
Further, since the outer peripheral edge of the back plate 3 is reinforced by the reinforcing portion 3b, the strength of the center portion can be reduced. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the weight of the pad 1 by reducing the thickness of the central portion of the back plate 3.

Moreover, the reinforcement part 3b is convexly and integrally formed in the back surface of the back plate 3, as shown in FIG.
Therefore, the reinforcement part 3b can be comprised simply.

As shown in FIG. 3, a concave portion 3c surrounded by a reinforcing portion 3b is formed at the center of the back surface of the back plate 3. The pressing member (piston 13 and claw portion 12a) is configured to press only the bottom surface of the recess 3c as shown in FIG.
Therefore, the center of the pad 1 can be surely pressed substantially by the pressing member (piston 13, claw portion 12a).

A shim 4 is interposed between the pad 1 and the pressing member (piston 13, claw portion 12a) as shown in FIG. A shim 4 is provided in the recess 3 c of the back plate 3.
Therefore, the movement of the shim 4 in the plate thickness direction is restricted by the pad 1 and the pressing member (piston 13 and claw portion 12a). Further, the shim 4 is restricted from moving in the surface direction by the wall surface of the recess 3c. Thus, the shim 4 can be held between the pad 1 and the pressing member stably and simply.

(Embodiment 2)
The second embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS.
The second embodiment is formed in substantially the same manner as the first embodiment. However, as shown in FIG. 6, the back plate 3 according to the second embodiment has a concave portion 3e and a front side convex portion 3d on the surface. Hereinafter, the second embodiment will be described focusing on the differences.

The recess 3e is formed at the center of the surface of the back plate 3. Accordingly, the central portion of the back plate 3 is thinner than the outer peripheral edge. The bottom surface of the recess 3e is slightly larger than the friction material 2, and the friction material 2 is fixed to the bottom surface of the recess 3e.
The front side convex portion 3 d is formed on the outer peripheral edge of the surface of the back plate 3. As shown in FIG. 7, the front side convex portion 3 d is convex and integrally formed on the surface of the back plate 3. The front-side convex portion 3 d protrudes along the side edge of the friction material 2.

On the other hand, a reinforcing portion 3 b is formed on the back surface of the back plate 3.
Therefore, the back plate 3 has a substantially I-shaped cross section, and the thickness of the outer peripheral edge is thicker than the thickness of the central portion. Thus, the back plate 3 has a high rigidity.
As shown in FIG. 6, the front-side convex portion 3 d is formed over the entire circumference of the outer peripheral edge of the back plate 3 and has an annular structure. Therefore, the back plate 3 is restrained from warping in all directions in the plate thickness direction, for example, the center of the longitudinal axis and the center of the short axis by the front side convex portion 3d.

The pad 1 is formed as described above.
That is, on the surface of the back plate 3, as shown in FIG. 7, front side convex portions 3d that protrude along the side edges of the friction material 2 are formed.
Therefore, it is possible to suppress the displacement of the friction material 2 on the surface of the back plate 3 by the front side convex portion 3d. In this manner, the frictional material 2 can be prevented from peeling from the back plate 3 by the front side convex portion 3d.
