From the results shown in Table 1, hair loss was significantly induced in the site where the sample was applied as compared with the control group, and the Eucheuma spinosum extract showed an excellent hair loss promoting effect. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the hair removal effect persisted at the site where the hair removal effect was observed, and that the Eucheuma spinosum extract had an excellent hair growth inhibiting effect.

[Example 2: Mouse application test (difference in effect due to concentration difference)]
An Eucheuma spinosum extract having a molecular weight of 100,000 or more prepared under the conditions of Preparation Example 2 was dissolved in a solvent (20% ethanol) to a concentration of 1% by mass, 3% by mass, and 5% by mass to obtain a sample.
In the experiment, 12 53-day-old C3H / HeNCrj mice having a hair cycle in the resting period were used (three individuals were used in each group of control, 1% by mass, 3% by mass, and 5% by mass). In order to accurately identify the test site, the hair on the entire back of the mouse was shortened with a clipper. Only 100 μl of either sample or solvent was applied to the back test site of each mouse once a day for 10 days. The effect of application of the Eucheuma spinosum extract (sample) was compared with the control group to which only the solvent was applied, and scored as follows. The results are shown in Table 2.

From the results in Table 2, the hair removal promoting action of the Eucheuma spinosum extract was recognized in a concentration-dependent manner within a concentration range of 1 to 5% by mass. When the concentration was 5% by mass or more, it was insoluble in the solvent (20% ethanol) used in this example.

[Example 3: Mouse application test (difference in effect due to difference in molecular weight)]
Extract of Eucheuma spinosum prepared in Preparation Example 2 (extract with a molecular weight of 100,000 or more) and extract of Eucheuma spinosum prepared in Preparation Example 3 (extract with a molecular weight of 50,000 to less than 100,000, extract of 10,000 to less than 50000, 10000 Less than extract) was dissolved in a solvent (20% ethanol) so as to have a concentration of 3% by mass, respectively, to prepare a sample.
In the experiment, 15 53-day-old C3H / HeNCrj mice (three in each of the control and sample groups) having a hair cycle in the resting period were used. In order to accurately identify the test site, the hair on the entire back of the mouse was shortened with a clipper. Only 100 μl of either sample or solvent was applied to the back test site of each mouse once a day for 10 days. The effect of application of each extract (sample) was compared with the control group to which only the solvent was applied, and scored as follows. The results are shown in Table 3.
