PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new flaw detection method and a flaw detection apparatus by a pulsed remote field eddy current which easily evaluates the flaws of piping or the like.
SOLUTION: The flaw detection method by a pulsed remote field eddy current uses a probe 4, comprising an exciting coil 2 placed adjacent to an electrical conductor or a ferromagnetic material, which is an object 1 to be measured, and a magnetic field detecting section 3. The exciting coil 2 is a pulsed exciting coil driven by a pulsed current. The magnetic field detection section 3 detects changes in a remote field of a magnetic field which has passed through flaws of the object to be measured 1 by a pulsed magnetic field generated by the pulsed exciting coil 2 to detect the flaws of the object to be measured 1.

Figure 2004294341
【0016】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a flaw detection method using a pulsed remote field eddy current and a flaw detection apparatus therefor.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a chemical plant, a nuclear power plant, and the like, inspecting for defects occurring in piping is indispensable for maintaining their safety and soundness. Since the maintenance inspection of the pipe needs to be performed from inside the pipe, an eddy current (eddy current testing) flaw detection method is practically used as a crack inspection method.
In the eddy current flaw detection method, a probe consisting of an excitation coil and a detection coil driven by an AC power source arranged at a predetermined interval inside an electric wiring or a conductive or ferromagnetic steel pipe is inserted, and a damaged part of the steel pipe is inserted. This is a non-destructive inspection method in which a change in magnetic flux in the sensor is detected by a detection coil (see Patent Document 1).

[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the conventional eddy current flaw detection method, when an object to be measured is a ferromagnetic tube (hereinafter referred to as a ferromagnetic tube), since the magnetic permeability in the ferromagnetic tube is non-uniform, a portion other than the damaged portion is not used. There is a problem that the detection is difficult due to the large magnetic noise from the light source.
In addition, the conventional eddy current flaw detection method has a high detection sensitivity on the inner surface of the tube close to the detection probe, and conversely, a lower detection sensitivity on the outer surface of the tube far from the detection probe, so that the detection sensitivity of the inside and outside of the tube is uniform. There is a problem that it cannot be obtained.
[0005]
In view of the above problems, an object of the present invention is to provide a novel flaw detection method using pulsed remote field eddy current and a device for evaluating the flaw, which can easily evaluate a flaw in a pipe or the like.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a method for detecting flaws by a pulsed remote field eddy current according to the present invention provides a probe comprising: an excitation coil disposed adjacent to a conductor or a ferromagnetic material as an object to be measured; and a magnetic field detector. A flaw detection method using a remote field eddy current, wherein the excitation coil is a pulse excitation coil driven by a pulse current, and the magnetic field detection unit is configured to detect a flaw on the object to be measured by a pulse magnetic field generated by the pulse excitation coil. And detecting a change in the remote field of the magnetic field penetrating the object to detect a flaw in the object to be measured.
In the above configuration, preferably, the probe is mounted on the probe driving device, and moves inside or near the object to be measured to perform measurement. This probe preferably includes a plurality of the pulse excitation coils and a plurality of magnetic field detection units.
The pulse current for driving the pulse excitation coil of the probe preferably includes a low-frequency component as a main frequency component when the pulse is Fourier-transformed such that a magnetic field is generated outside through the DUT. In.
The magnetic field detecting section is preferably made of any one of a coil, a Hall effect element, a magnetoresistive element, a giant magnetoresistive element, a ferromagnetic application element, and a SQUID. It is preferable that the magnetic field detecting section has a configuration in which a magnetic field in a different direction is detected or a differential output is obtained. The device under test is preferably tubular, and it is preferable that the pulse excitation coil and the magnetic field detection unit are inserted inside the tube.
Further, the magnetic field detector is preferably arranged at a distance from the pulse excitation coil that is at least about twice the diameter of the tube of the DUT.
Further, it is preferable that the object to be measured has a plate shape, and that a pulse excitation coil and a magnetic field detection unit are provided outside the plate.
In addition, the entire surface other than the portion of the pulse excitation coil and the magnetic field detection unit other than the portion facing the plate is preferably magnetically shielded.
[0007]
According to this configuration, it is possible to detect a flaw in a conductive tube, a ferromagnetic tube, or the like in a short time and with high accuracy by a pulse remote field eddy current using a probe installed inside the tube.
Further, by detecting a change in the pulse remote field, it is possible to detect flaws on the inner surface, the outer surface, and the internal flaws with the same sensitivity as viewed from the probe of the measured object.
Therefore, if the present invention is applied to the current inspection of a ferromagnetic tube or the like, the evaluation of a flaw generated in the ferromagnetic tube can be performed in a short time, accurately, and at low cost.
[0008]
In addition, the pulse remote field eddy current flaw detection device of the present invention includes a probe including a pulse excitation coil and a magnetic field detection unit, a pulse drive unit that drives the pulse excitation coil, and an output of the magnetic field detection unit. A signal processing unit for flaw detection of the flaw.
The probe preferably includes at least one or more pulse excitation coils and a magnetic field detection unit, and is controlled by the signal processing unit so that a pulse current according to the shape of the device under test is applied. The probe is preferably mounted on a probe driving device and controlled by a signal processing unit.
It is preferable that the pulse driving unit is controlled by the signal processing unit so that a pulse current according to the shape of the device under test is applied. The signal processor comprises a computer, which preferably controls the pulse driver, while the computer measures the signal of the magnetic field detector and automatically calculates the flaw detection of the measured object.
[0009]
According to this configuration, the ferromagnetic tube or the like is driven by the pulse excitation coil, and thereby the pulse remote field generated inside and outside the ferromagnetic tube is detected by the magnetic field detection unit, so that the ferromagnetic tube or the like is generated. It is possible to measure the flaw detection of a flaw in a short time. This makes it possible to detect a flaw on the inner surface, the outer surface, and the inside of a ferromagnetic tube or the like, which has conventionally required poor accuracy and a long measurement time, in a short time and at low cost.
Therefore, if the present invention is applied to the current inspection of ferromagnetic tubes and the like, flaw detection of flaws generated in ferromagnetic tubes can be performed in a short time, accurately, and at low cost. Further, since the evaluation device of the present invention is small and lightweight, it can be used for flaw detection of a ferromagnetic tube installed outdoors.
[0010]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
First, a flaw detection method using a pulsed remote field eddy current method according to a first embodiment of the present invention will be described.
FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of a measurement system used in the pulse remote field eddy current flaw detection method of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1, a measuring system includes an exciting coil 2 and a magnetic field detecting unit 3 disposed at a predetermined position from the exciting coil 2 inside a conductive or ferromagnetic tube as the device under test 1. , A pulse driving unit (not shown) for driving the exciting coil 2, and a signal processing unit (not shown) of the magnetic field detection unit 3.
Here, the magnetic field detection unit 3 can use, for example, a detection coil using a winding coil, and the drawing shows differential detection coils 3a and 3b using two sets of winding coils. As described above, the magnetic field detection unit 3 can detect a magnetic field change with high sensitivity if it is configured to detect magnetic fields in different directions or obtain a differential output.
[0011]
Next, the principle of the flaw detection method using the pulsed remote field eddy current method of the present invention will be described.
As shown, when the exciting coil 2 is driven by the pulse driver, a magnetic field is generated from the exciting coil 2 inside the ferromagnetic tube, and the magnetic field 8 is directly generated inside the ferromagnetic tube and the magnetic field 8 is generated outside the ferromagnetic tube. Generates an indirect magnetic field 9.
Further, the indirect magnetic field 9 generated outside the ferromagnetic tube as the device under test 1 again generates an indirect magnetic field 10 penetrating into the device under test 1. At this time, the indirect magnetic field generated on the outer surface of the DUT 1 is referred to as an indirect magnetic field 11. Here, the indirect magnetic fields 9, 10, and 11 are appropriately referred to as pulse remote fields.
At this time, the phase of the pulse remote field 10 lags behind that of the direct magnetic field 8, so that the magnetic field detector 3 can detect the pulse remote field 10 separately from the direct magnetic field 8.
At this time, if the flaw 12 is formed in the ferromagnetic tube 1, there is no ferromagnetic material in the space of the flaw 12, and the intensity of the indirect magnetic field changes by an amount that does not attenuate the indirect magnetic field. The part 12 can be inspected.
At this time, the probe 4 composed of the exciting coil 2 and the magnetic field detector 3 is moved for each predetermined measurement range to perform measurement, so that the flaw 12 in the ferromagnetic tube 1 can be detected.
Here, the probe 4 can be mounted on a probe driving device such as a self-propelled robot provided with a carriage having a moving mechanism using a battery-driven motor. Further, the probe 4 includes a plurality of excitation coils 2 and the magnetic field detection unit 3, so that it is possible to measure many points at once.
In the determination of the flaw 12 in the ferromagnetic tube 1, data measured by a flaw detection method using a pulsed remote field eddy current in a normal ferromagnetic tube 1 having no flaw can be used as calibration data.
[0012]
Next, the direct magnetic field and the indirect magnetic field generated from the exciting coil 2 will be described in more detail.
FIG. 2 is a diagram showing the magnetic flux density distribution of the direct magnetic field 8 on the inner surface of the tube and the indirect magnetic field 11 on the outer surface of the tube in the central axis direction of the ferromagnetic tube in FIG. In the figure, the horizontal axis indicates the distance (mm) from the exciting coil 2 and the vertical axis indicates the magnetic flux density (T: Tesla). The method of calculating the magnetic flux density distribution will be described later. In the figure, ◆ indicates the direct magnetic field 8 on the inner surface of the tube, and ■ indicates the indirect magnetic field 11 on the outer surface of the tube. Here, the ferromagnetic tube 1 has an outer diameter of 31.8 mm and an inner diameter of 23.4 mm.
[0013]
As is apparent from the figure, of the magnetic field on the inner surface of the tube, the magnetic flux density of the direct magnetic field 8 rapidly attenuates away from the excitation coil, and is approximately twice or more (about 60 mm) or more the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1. It can be seen that the distance becomes smaller than the magnetic flux density of the indirect magnetic field 11 on the outer surface of the tube.
Further, the magnetic flux density of the indirect magnetic field 11 on the outer surface of the tube is about three orders of magnitude higher than the magnetic flux density of the direct magnetic field 8 when the distance from the exciting coil is approximately three times (about 90 mm) or more the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1. It turns out that it becomes large.
Therefore, in this region, the indirect magnetic field 11 on the outer surface of the tube is larger than the direct magnetic field 8 in the tube, and the magnetic flux enters the tube from outside the tube. This invading magnetic field is the pulse remote field 10 (see FIG. 2). Thereby, the scratches on the tube outer surface and the tube inner surface can be measured at the same level.
In order to accurately measure the pulse remote field 10, the magnetic field detection unit 3 has a distance of at least twice the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1 from the excitation coil so as not to be directly affected by the magnetic field 8. It can be understood that the arrangement should be made as follows.
[0014]
Next, the pulse response of the direct magnetic field and the indirect magnetic field generated from the exciting coil 2 will be described in detail.
FIG. 3 is a diagram showing an axially symmetric two-dimensional analysis model obtained by calculating a pulse response of the flaw detection method using the pulse remote field ECT method of the present invention. The figure shows a cross-sectional view of the right side of the ferromagnetic tube 1, in which an exciting coil 2 and a magnetic field detector 3 are arranged as shown.
In addition, the calculation in the case where there is a flaw 12 was also performed. In the calculation, two-dimensional analysis of the axial symmetry with respect to the central axis 1a of the ferromagnetic tube 1 was performed using Maxwell's electromagnetic field equation. In the analysis method, a pulse current was applied to the element part of the exciting coil 2 and the vector potential of the element part of the detection coil 3 at that time, the magnetic flux density of each part shown in FIG. At this time, the number of elements on the XY plane was 30039, and the number of contacts was 14812.
[0015]
Here, dimensions of the excitation coil 2 and the detection coil of the magnetic field detection unit 3 and the flaws used in the calculation are shown below.
Figure 2004294341
[0016]
FIG. 4 is a diagram showing a pulse waveform used in the axial symmetric two-dimensional analysis of FIG. Each of the pulse waveforms used for the calculation is a single pulse (impulse), FIG. 4A shows a single-wave pulse, and FIG. 4B shows a full-wave pulse. In the figure, the horizontal axis represents time, and the vertical axis represents current I. The pulse width (period) is t p It is.
[0017]
Next, a description will be given of a calculation example of the pulse response of the flaw detection method using the pulse remote field ECT method of the present invention described above.
(Calculation example 1)
FIG. 5 shows a time change of the vector potential generated in the detection coil 3 when the detection coil 3 is disposed at a distance twice the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1 from the excitation coil 2 in the normal ferromagnetic tube 1. It is the figure which computed. In the figure, the abscissa indicates the time lapse (millisecond: ms) after the application of the pulse to the exciting coil 2, and the ordinate indicates the vector potential. The applied pulse is a full-wave pulse having a period of 0.1 ms.
[0018]
As shown in the figure, the waveform on the origin side is directly caused by the magnetic field 8, and the waveform of the pulse remote field 10 is weaker than the direct magnetic field 8 and is generated later. Accordingly, in the flaw detection method using eddy current of the pulse remote field of the present invention, the detection coil 3 is disposed at a distance of about twice the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1 from the excitation coil 2 so that the pulse remote field It can be seen that 10 can be measured separately from the magnetic field 8.
[0019]
(Calculation example 2)
FIG. 6 shows a time change of the vector potential generated in the detection coil 3 when the detection coil 3 is disposed at a distance three times the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1 from the excitation coil 2 in the normal ferromagnetic tube 1. It is the figure which computed. The applied pulse is a full-wave pulse having a period of 0.1 ms, as in FIG.
As shown in the figure, although the waveform on the origin side is directly caused by the magnetic field 8, the detection coil 3 is disposed at a distance of three times the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1 from the excitation coil 2 as described in FIG. Therefore, it can be seen that the intensity of the waveform of the pulse remote field 10 is higher than that of the direct magnetic field 8 and is delayed. Thus, in the pulse remote field eddy current flaw detection method of the present invention, the pulse remote field 10 is provided by disposing the detection coil at a distance at least about twice the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1 from the excitation coil. Can be measured separately from the magnetic field 8.
[0020]
(Calculation example 3)
Next, a calculation example of the ferromagnetic tube 1 having a normal portion and a damaged portion will be described.
FIG. 7 shows a voltage generated in the differential detection coil when the differential detection coil is disposed at a distance twice the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube from the excitation coil in the ferromagnetic tube 1 having a normal portion and a damaged portion. FIG. 9 is a diagram illustrating a time change of the calculated value. In the figure, the abscissa indicates the time elapsed (ms) after the pulse is applied to the exciting coil 2, and the ordinate indicates the voltage (V: volt) generated in the detection coil. In the drawing, ◆ indicates a normal part without any damage, □ indicates a damaged part on the outer surface side of the ferromagnetic tube 1, and 傷 indicates a damaged part on the inner surface side of the ferromagnetic tube 1. The applied pulse is a full-wave pulse having a period of 0.2 ms.
As is apparent from the figure, the waveform generated by the pulse remote field 10 when the ferromagnetic tube 1 has a flaw has a different waveform from the normal portion of the ferromagnetic tube 1. Further, it can be seen that the scratches on the outer surface and the inner surface can be detected with the same sensitivity.
Thus, in the flaw detection method using the pulsed remote field eddy current method of the present invention, the pulsed remote field 10 can be measured separately from the direct magnetic field 8 in the time range of 0 to 0.2 ms. Since the waveforms of the pulse remote field 10 are different between the case where the flaw is present and the case where the flaw is normal, the flaw of the ferromagnetic tube 1 can be accurately measured. At this time, it is possible to detect a flaw on the outer surface and the inner surface of a ferromagnetic tube or the like with the same sensitivity, which is difficult with the conventional eddy current flaw detection method.
[0021]
The case where the flaw detection method using the pulsed remote field eddy current of the present invention is applied to a ferromagnetic tube has been described above. However, it can be similarly applied to a plate made of a conductor or a ferromagnetic material.
FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view showing a schematic configuration when a ferromagnetic plate is inspected using the pulse remote field eddy current inspection method of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 8, the measurement system includes an excitation coil 2 and a magnetic field detection unit 3 at a predetermined position from the excitation coil 2 below a conductive or ferromagnetic plate serving as the device under test 15. And a pulse drive unit for driving an excitation coil (not shown), and a signal processing unit of the magnetic field detection unit 3.
Here, as shown in the figure, the excitation coil 2 and the magnetic field detection unit 3 directly attenuate the magnetic field or detect the pulse remote field 10 with high sensitivity over the entire surface except for the part facing the plate of the device under test 15. Then, a magnetic shield 17 using a ferromagnetic material may be applied. Thus, the flaw detection method using the pulsed remote field eddy current can be applied to the plate-shaped object 15 similarly to the ferromagnetic tube 1.
[0022]
Next, a second embodiment of the pulse remote field eddy current flaw detector according to the present invention will be described.
FIG. 9 is a block diagram schematically showing a configuration of a flaw detector using pulsed remote field eddy current according to the second embodiment of the present invention. The flaw detector 20 using a pulse remote field eddy current includes a probe 4 from an exciting coil 2 and a magnetic field detecting unit 3 inserted into a ferromagnetic tube or the like to be measured 1, a pulse driving unit 5 for driving the exciting coil 2, , And a signal processing unit 6.
The probe 4 may be mounted on a probe driving device 22 such as a self-propelled robot so that the probe 4 can move in the ferromagnetic tube 1. At this time, the movement of the self-propelled robot 22 with respect to the measurement point is controlled by the signal processing unit 6.
[0023]
The pulse driving unit 5 is controlled by the signal processing unit 6. When a pulse is applied from the pulse driver 5 to the excitation coil 2, a pulse including a low-frequency component that generates a pulse remote field 10 having an appropriate intensity is generated through the ferromagnetic tube 1 to the outside. . The frequency component of the pulse can be obtained by Fourier transform of the applied pulse.
[0024]
The magnetic field detection unit 3 can use various magnetic field sensors in addition to a detection coil and a differential detection coil that can detect a magnetic flux distribution. For example, a magnetic material applied element such as a Hall effect element, a magnetoresistive element, a giant magnetoresistive element, a tunnel magnetoresistive element, or a SQUID which is a magnetic field sensor element using a Josephson junction may be used.
The sensor output voltage from the magnetic field detection unit 3 is sufficiently amplified by the amplifier 21 and output to the signal processing unit 6. Here, the amplifier 21 may be built in the probe 4.
[0025]
The signal processing unit 6 includes a computer 6a such as a personal computer, a waveform measuring unit 6b for measuring a sensor output from the magnetic field detecting unit 3, and a drive control unit (not shown) of the probe driving device 22 such as a self-propelled robot. It is configured.
[0026]
The flaw detector 20 using the pulsed remote field eddy current of the present invention is configured as described above, and operates as follows.
The signal processing unit 6 applies a pulse from the pulse driving unit 5 to the exciting coil 2. The pulse remote field 10 generated from the voltage or current pulse applied to the excitation coil 2 is detected by the magnetic field detection unit 3, amplified by the amplifier, and output to the waveform measurement unit 6 b of the signal processing unit 6.
The signal waveform data from the waveform measurement unit 6b of the signal processing unit 6 is sent to the computer 6a, subjected to data processing such as calculation for comparison with a normal waveform of the device under test, and stored in the memory of the computer 6a. And output to a display device or printer.
Since the above-described measurement is performed every time the probe 4 moves, flaw detection of the object to be measured by the pulse remote field eddy current method can be performed.
Here, the waveform of the pulse remote field of the normal DUT may be stored in the memory of the computer 6a in advance.
[0027]
Next, an example of measurement by the flaw detection method using the pulse remote field eddy current method of the present invention will be described.
Here, the measured ferromagnetic tube 1 is the same as that of the calculation example, and the outer diameter, the inner diameter, and the wall thickness are 31.8 mm, 23.4 mm, and 4.2 mm, respectively. The material is 2Cr-1Mo. The flaw was formed on the outer periphery of the ferromagnetic tube 1 with a width of 2 mm and a depth of 2.4 mm, which is half the thickness. The distance between the exciting coil in the probe 4 and the differential detection coil was 63.6 mm, which is twice the outer diameter of the ferromagnetic tube 1. The movement of the probe 4 was performed at a pitch of 1 mm, and measurement was performed for each point.
[0028]
(Example 1)
FIGS. 10 to 12 are diagrams showing measurement data of the ferromagnetic tube 1 measured by a pulse remote field eddy current method using a full-wave pulse having a period of 2 ms. FIG. 10 is a diagram showing a voltage waveform of the excitation coil 2 and a voltage waveform detected by the differential detection coil 3 in a normal portion of the ferromagnetic tube 1 having no flaw 12. FIG. 11 is a diagram showing a voltage waveform of the exciting coil 2 at the flaw 12 of the ferromagnetic tube 1 and a voltage waveform detected by the differential detection coil 3. The horizontal axis is time (ms), the left vertical axis is the exciting coil voltage (V), and the right vertical axis is the detection coil voltage (V). In the figure, ◆ indicates the excitation coil voltage, and ● indicates the voltage generated in the detection coil.
As is clear from the figure, the detected voltage waveform (see FIGS. 10A and 10C) generated by the pulse remote field 10 in the normal ferromagnetic tube 1 without the flaw 12 and the pulse in the ferromagnetic tube 1 with the flaw 12 are shown. The detected voltage waveforms generated by the remote field 10 (see b and c in FIG. 11) are greatly different. That is, the detection voltage when the flaw 12 is present is increased to about 2.5 times. Further, when the ratio between the case without the flaw and the case with the flaw is calculated in the region of only the voltage of the pulse remote field 10 excluding the direct wave (see c ′ in FIGS. 10 and 11), there is a difference of about three times. It can be seen that detection can be performed without being directly affected by the magnetic field 8.
Thus, according to the pulsed remote field eddy current method of the present invention, the detection voltage from the flaw outside the ferromagnetic tube 1 is large, and the probe 4 installed inside the ferromagnetic tube 1 is non-destructive and It can measure accurately.
[0029]

As is clear from the figure, the detection voltage (see j in FIG. 17) at the flaw 12 of the ferromagnetic tube 1 is higher than that of the normal part without the flaw 12 and can be detected without noise.
[0033]
(Example 4)
FIGS. 18 and 19 are diagrams showing measurement data of the ferromagnetic tube 1 measured by pulse remote field eddy current using a half-wave pulse having a period of 0.25 ms. FIG. 18 is a diagram showing a voltage waveform of the excitation coil 2 and a voltage waveform detected by the differential detection coil 3 in a normal portion of the ferromagnetic tube 1 having no flaws 12, and FIG. FIG. 3 is a diagram showing a voltage waveform of an exciting coil 2 at a flaw 12 and a voltage waveform detected by a differential detection coil 3.
