これまでの壁掛け型空気調和装置では、室外ユニットは、屋外に設置され、室内ユニットは、室内の壁面の上方に据付けられることが一般的である。この室内ユニットは、前面および天面に前記室内の室内空気を吸込む吸込み口が設けられており、前面下方には、風向板を備えた吹出し口が設けられている。

また、近年、地球の温暖化防止から、省エネルギー化が進められており、空気調和装置では、熱交換効率向上のため、COP(Coefficient OfPerformance)の向上が図られて来ている。このため、熱交換率向上の目的で、室内外熱交換部における熱交換部の有効面積は大型化される方向にある。

この室内外熱交換部の大型化は、空気調和装置にとって静音化の面でも有利となるものであるが、昨今の住宅事情から、室内ユニットは、窓上の壁面へ据付けられる場合があるため、この室内ユニットの高さ方向に関して、その寸法は制限されるものとなっていた。

このため、前記室内ユニットでは、室内ユニット本体の前面から天面にかけて吸込み口を設け、前記室内熱交換部を複数の熱交換部に分割し、これら熱交換部を室内ユニット内の前面から天面へわたって略倒立した円弧形状に配設し、その下方に、円筒形状の室内送風ファンを備える構成として前記室内ユニットの高さ方向の寸法を抑えるとともに、COPの向上および静音化を実現していた(例えば、特許文献1参照)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、室内熱交換部の下に室内送風部を配設する構成では、カーテンレールなどを備えた窓上などへ前記室内ユニットを据付ける場合には、該室内ユニットの高さ寸法の関系から据付けが困難な場合があった。

また、通常、室内ユニットは、前面下方に吹出し口が配設されており、その上方前面には、吸込み口が配設されているため、前記吹出し口に備えられた風向板を水平位置にして暖房運転を行わせた場合、前記吹出し口から加温されて吹出された空気が、そのまま吸込み口へと吸込まれてしまうエアーショート現象が発生し易くなってしまい、空調性が悪化してしまうという問題があった。

このため、例えば、ワンルームマンションなどで室内空間の有効利用の観点からロフト(中2階)などが設けられていても、このロフトの暖房を行う場合、上記エアーショート現象が顕著に発生して、思う様な暖房が行えないということが発生した。また、このロフトの暖房が十分行える様な壁面の高さ位置に前記室内ユニットを据付けようとすると、前記ロフトの暖房は行える様にはなるが、室内ユニットが通常据付けられる高さ位置よりも高い位置への据付けとなるため、前記室内ユニットの吹出し口から吹出された温風が床面まで到達しにくくなるという問題点があった。

そこで、本発明の目的は、上記問題点を鑑みてなされたもので、室内ユニットの高さ寸法を抑えるとともに、上下方向の風向範囲を拡大した壁掛け型空気調和装置を提供することにある。
