Description

【0001】

圧縮データと特定する情報は、例えば、URL(uniform resource locators)である。
また、動画像を圧縮する方式の例としては、MPEG(moving picture experts group)方式を用いることができる。
【0105】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image editing program, and more particularly, to an image editing program for executing a process according to a use in a predetermined area of a document image.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, there has been a demand for a process of cutting out a necessary area from a document image and storing it. For example, when an existing document image includes a photograph, a figure, a character, and the like, only a region of the photograph is cut out, converted into a file format for mail transmission, and data for mail transmission are created. Since the document image is bitmap data, it is not possible to automatically cut out areas of photographs, figures, and characters from the document image alone. Therefore, the user has to specify a range to be cut out using a tool such as a graphical user interface (GUI) and cut out the photographic area. Further, in order to convert the extracted bitmap image into a file format for mail transmission, for example, an HTML (hypertext markup language) format file, a compression format has to be specified.
[0003]
As an example of the above-described GUI, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-330678 (Patent Document 1) discloses displaying an HTML format file on a display, and instructing a displayed object to change a display position by drag and drop. Describes a browser device that generates a new HTML file in which the display position of the displayed object is changed.
[0004]
A technique for compressing a partial area in an image into a compression format according to an attribute is described in JP-A-2000-324331 (Patent Document 2). Patent Document 2 discloses a method of generating binary image data from an input document image, generating layout analysis data corresponding to an attribute of an image included in the document image from the generated binary image data, There is described an image processing apparatus that performs compression processing on an image of each area according to an attribute of each area of a document image divided based on the image processing and stores the image.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the browser device described in Patent Literature 1 can improve the display convenience only by changing the position of the object included in the HTML format file, but the file after the position conversion of the object is used for purposes other than display. Not suitable for use.
[0008]
Further, the image processing device described in Patent Document 2 divides a region having the same attribute from a document image and compresses all of the divided regions. Therefore, an arbitrary region is selected from the divided regions. Can not. Further, only one compression process is determined according to the attribute, and for example, the compression process cannot be changed for each purpose such as facsimile transmission and printing.
[0009]
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is to provide an image editing program capable of executing a process corresponding to a required part of an image according to a use. is there.
[0010]
Another object of the present invention is to provide an image editing program capable of compressing a predetermined area of an image by a method suitable for a use and its attribute.
[0011]
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an image editing program capable of easily generating a new image in which a plurality of partial images are combined.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided an image editing program, comprising the steps of: receiving an image input; extracting a partial image having the same attribute from the input image; Displaying the reduced partial image in a reduced size, displaying a plurality of processing designated areas in which processing according to the application is associated in advance, and displaying the reduced displayed partial image in one of the plurality of processing designated areas. And causing the computer to execute, on the partial image corresponding to the reduced and displayed partial image, a process associated with the processing designated area to which the reduced and displayed partial image is allocated. .
[0013]
According to the present invention, a partial image including a region having the same attribute is extracted from an input image, and is displayed in a reduced size. When the reduced partial image is assigned to any of the plurality of processing designated areas, the reduced partial image is assigned to the processing designated area to which the reduced partial image is assigned. Processing corresponding to the use associated in advance is executed. For this reason, it is possible to provide an image editing program capable of executing a process according to a use for a necessary part in an image.
[0014]
Preferably, the reduced partial image and the plurality of process designation areas are displayed on one screen.
[0015]
According to the present invention, the reduced partial image and the plurality of processing specification areas are displayed on one screen, so that the processing can be specified on one screen without switching the screen.
[0016]
Preferably, as the process associated with the process designation area, a process corresponding to the attribute is defined.
[0017]
According to the present invention, since the processing associated with the processing designated area is defined as the processing corresponding to the attribute of the image, the processing corresponding to the attribute of the partial image can be performed simply by assigning the partial image to the processing designated area. Is executed. Therefore, when the processing to be executed is different depending on the purpose and the attribute of the image, it is possible to execute the processing suitable for the purpose and the attribute of the image. The use is, for example, facsimile transmission processing, e-mail transmission processing, archive creation processing, printing processing, or the like. For example, when performing a compression process, it is possible to perform compression by a method suitable for the use and the attribute of the image.
[0018]
More preferably, the step of reducing and displaying the partial image includes: a step of determining a reduction rate at which the partial image is reduced based on the size and the number of the input images; and a step of determining the partial rate based on the determined reduction rate. The method includes a step of reducing an image, and a step of displaying the reduced partial image according to a layout of the input image.
[0019]
According to the present invention, the rate at which the partial image is reduced is determined and reduced based on the size and number of the input images, so that the partial image can be displayed within a predetermined area. In addition, since the reduced partial image is displayed according to the layout of the input image, the user can recognize the partial image at a position in the image before editing, which facilitates the operation.
[0020]
Preferably, the allocating step further includes a step of receiving a designation of a position at which the reduced partial image is arranged in the processing designation area, and the step of executing the processing includes the processing-executed partial image and the reduced partial image. Further comprising the step of generating data in which the data is associated with the position where is located.
[0021]
According to the present invention, data is generated in which the processed partial image is associated with the position where the reduced partial image is arranged in the processing designated area. Therefore, a new image in which the partial images are arranged at predetermined positions is generated, so that a new image combining the partial images can be easily generated.
[0022]

(Random Access Memory) 120 for loading a program to be executed and for storing data during execution of the program, a hard disk 114 for storing a created program and the like in a nonvolatile manner, and the image editing apparatus. It includes a network interface 130 for connecting 100 to a network 132 and an FD drive 112. A CD-ROM 122 is mounted on the CD-ROM drive 110. An FD 124 is mounted on the FD drive 112.
[0025]
As described above, the image editing apparatus 100 is configured by a general personal computer. Since the operation of image editing apparatus 100 itself is well known, detailed description thereof will not be repeated here.
[0026]
In the image editing system 10, image data input from the scanner 105, the FD drive 112 or the CD-ROM drive 110, or image data input from a computer connected to the network 132 via the network interface 130 is transmitted to the hard disk 114. And the image editing program is executed by the CPU 116 to edit the image data. Generally, such an image editing program is stored and distributed in a storage medium such as the CD-ROM 122 or the FD 124, read from the storage medium by the CD-ROM drive 110 or the FD drive 112, and temporarily stored in the hard disk 114. Further, the data is read from the hard disk 114 to the RAM 120 and executed by the CPU 116.
[0027]
The hardware itself of the image editing system 10 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is general. Therefore, the most essential part of the present invention is an image editing program recorded on a recording medium such as the CD-ROM 122, the FD 124, and the hard disk 114.
[0028]
The recording medium is not limited to the CD-ROM 122, the FD 124, and the hard disk 114, but may be a magnetic tape, a cassette tape, an optical disk (MO (Magnetic Optical Disc) / MD (Mini Disc) / DVD (Digital Versatile Disc)), an IC card ( A fixed medium such as a semiconductor memory such as an optical card, a mask ROM, an EPROM, an EEPROM, and a flash ROM may be used.
[0029]
The program referred to here is a concept including not only a program directly executable by the CPU 116 but also a program in a source program format, a compressed program, an encrypted program, and the like.
[0030]
FIG. 3 is a block diagram showing an outline of functions of image editing apparatus 100 in the present embodiment. Referring to FIG. 3, image data (hereinafter also simply referred to as “image”) is input to image editing apparatus 100 from scanner 105. The scanner 105 optically reads a document, converts a read image into electronic data, and outputs the electronic data. This image is bitmap data. Here, a case where an image is input from the scanner 105 to the image editing apparatus 100 will be described as an example, but the image is transmitted from a computer connected to the FD drive 112, the CD-ROM drive 110 or the network 132 to the network interface 130. May be input via the.
[0031]
The input image is temporarily stored in the hard disk 114 of the image editing device 100. As described above, in the image editing apparatus 100, an image is input from the outside and stored in the hard disk 114.
[0032]
When the image editing program loaded into the RAM 120 is executed by the CPU 116, the CPU 116 provides the CPU with an image analysis / region division unit 151, an attribute determination unit 153, a thumbnail creation / management unit 155, a GUI unit 157, and a compression processing unit 159. , A layout processing unit 161.
[0033]
When the CPU 116 executes the image editing program, the RAM 120 stores a photograph area attribute memory 121A, a graphic area attribute memory 121B, and a character area attribute memory 121C. Further, a compression table 122 created in advance and stored on the hard disk is loaded into the RAM 120.
[0034]
The image analysis / region division unit 151 reads an image from the hard disk 114, analyzes the image, and divides the image into partial images composed of regions having the same image attributes.
[0035]
The attribute determining unit 153 determines an attribute for each of the divided partial images. The attributes include a photograph attribute indicating a photographic image obtained by photographing with a digital camera or the like, a graphic attribute indicating a graph or a graphic created by drawing creation software or the like, and a character attribute indicating a character. The attributes are not limited to these, and may include a dot attribute represented by a screen-processed halftone dot, or an area including a plurality of attribute areas may be set as another attribute.
[0036]
The thumbnail creation / management unit 155 creates a thumbnail in which the divided partial image is reduced, associates the partial image with a position in the input image, and associates the photograph area attribute memory 121A, the graphic area attribute memory 121B, and the character Each is stored in the area attribute memory 121C. Therefore, the thumbnail of the input image can be displayed from the data stored in the photograph area attribute memory 121A, the graphic area attribute memory 121B, and the character area attribute memory 121C of the RAM 120. The reduction ratio when creating a partial image thumbnail is determined based on the size and number of images. As will be described later, the GUI unit 157 of the image processing apparatus 100 displays one screen including an input area for displaying an input image and an output area on the display 102. Therefore, since the size of the input area for displaying the input image displayed on the GUI unit 157 is limited, the reduction ratio for reducing the image is determined so that the entire image is displayed in this input area. .
[0037]
The GUI unit 157 displays an input area for displaying an input image and an output area for displaying a processing designation area on the display 102. A plurality of process designation areas are provided depending on the application, and are areas for attaching thumbnails of partial images. The GUI unit 157 receives selection of a partial image, movement, and input of position designation in a process designation area based on the position of a mouse pointer displayed on the display 102 and an instruction input by the user using the mouse 108. Here, an example in which the mouse 108 is used to receive the user's instruction has been described, but the user's instruction input to the keyboard 106 may be received.
[0038]
The compression processing unit 159 compresses the partial image corresponding to the thumbnail position-specified in the process designated area according to a method defined in advance for each process designated area and each attribute of the partial image. As a result, the partial image is compressed by a method suitable for the purpose and the image attribute. The compressed data of the compressed partial image is stored in the compressed data memory 114A of the hard disk 114.
[0039]
The layout processing unit 161 determines the position of the partial image corresponding to the thumbnail based on the position of the thumbnail specified in the processing specification area, and associates the data obtained by compressing the partial image with the determined position. Generate an output file. Then, the generated output file is output to an output destination associated with the treatment designation area.
[0040]
FIG. 4 is a flowchart showing a flow of the area dividing process executed by the image editing apparatus 100 according to the present embodiment. 4 is a process executed by the image analysis / region division unit 151, the attribute determination unit 153, and the thumbnail creation / management unit 155 of the CPU 116. Referring to FIG. 4, first, an image is read (step S01). The image editing apparatus 100 transmits a document reading instruction to the scanner 105, and the image read by the scanner 105 is input to the image editing apparatus 100. Then, the input image is loaded into the RAM 120 (Step S02). Note that an image stored in the hard disk 114 in advance may be loaded into the RAM 120. In this case, step S01 can be omitted. The image stored in the hard disk 114 in advance is, in addition to the image input from the scanner 105, an image input from the FD drive 112, the CD-ROM drive 110, or a computer connected to the network 132 via the network interface 130. This is the image that has been input.
[0041]
The image input to the image editing apparatus 100 is bitmap data in which one pixel is composed of red (R), green (G), and blue (B) components. This bitmap data is converted into bitmap data in which one pixel is composed of hue (H), saturation (S), and lightness (L) components (step S03). The process of converting RGB data to HSL data is well known and will not be described again here.
[0042]
Then, labeling is performed using the brightness component (L) of each pixel (step S04). Although a well-known technique can be used for the labeling, here, as an example, a process of reducing an image composed of lightness components and integrating (labeling) black pixels having small lightness components is referred to.
[0043]
Then, the image is divided into regions based on the continuity of the labeled data (step S05). The region division refers to a process of cutting out a circumscribed rectangular region including black pixels integrated by labeling. As a result, a rectangular partial image is extracted from the image. The process of extracting a partial image is not limited to this, and a process of extracting a rectangular, circular, or polygonal partial image may be used as long as the partial image can be extracted from the image.
[0044]
Then, a hue (H) and saturation (S) histogram and an average of pixel values are calculated for each of the extracted partial images (step S06). An attribute is extracted for each partial image from the calculated histogram and average value (step S07). A well-known technique can be used for attribute extraction using the hue (H), saturation (S) histogram, and average pixel value, and therefore, detailed description thereof will not be repeated here. Further, the attribute may be extracted using lightness (L) instead of the hue (H), saturation (S) histogram, and average value of pixel values. This specific processing is described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-22943 filed by the applicant.
[0045]
In step S07, the partial image from which the attribute has been extracted is stored in the photograph area attribute memory 121A, the graphic area attribute memory 121B, and the character area attribute memory 121C of the RAM 120 in accordance with the image attribute in which the partial image itself has been extracted from the image. Is performed (step S08). If the attribute is a photograph attribute, the partial image itself is stored in the photograph area attribute memory 121A. If the attribute is a graphic attribute, the partial image itself is stored in the graphic area attribute memory 121B. If the attribute is a character attribute, the partial image itself is stored in the character area attribute memory 121C. At this time, the position of the partial image in the original image is also stored. The character attribute partial image is divided into paragraphs and stored in the character area attribute memory 121C (step S09). The paragraph can be determined from the shape of the labeled area.
[0046]
Next, an image (thumbnail) obtained by reducing the partial image is created (step S10), and the created thumbnail is associated with the partial image and stored in the photograph area attribute memory 121A, the graphic area attribute memory 121B, and the character area attribute memory 121C. It is stored in any corresponding one. In creating a thumbnail, the resolution of the partial image is converted to reduce the partial image. Different resolution conversion methods can be used for each attribute. For example, if the partial image has a photo attribute, the Bi-cubic method is used. If the partial image has a graphic attribute, the Bi-Linear method is used. If the partial image has a character attribute, the nearest neighbor method is used. Used. However, the resolution conversion is not limited to this, and the resolution may be converted simply by thinning out pixels or averaging neighboring pixel values.
[0047]
A predetermined value is used as the resolution of the thumbnail. For this reason, the reduction ratio for converting the resolution is determined based on the size of the original image. This is because the size of a display area for displaying thumbnails of original images (a set of thumbnails of partial images) is determined in advance in a display process described later.
[0048]
In the photograph area attribute memory 121A, the graphic area attribute memory 121B, and the character area attribute memory 121C, a partial image, a position of the partial image in the original image, and a thumbnail are stored in association with each attribute. . Further, since the partial image is included in the original image, the partial image is stored in association with information for identifying the original image, for example, a file name of the original image.
[0049]
In the next step S12, it is determined whether there is a next image to be input to the image editing apparatus 100. If there is a next image, the process returns to step S01, and the above-described processing is repeatedly executed. If there is no next image, the area division processing ends.
[0050]
FIG. 5 is a flowchart illustrating a flow of a display process executed by the image editing apparatus 100 according to the present embodiment. The display process is a process executed by the GUI unit 157 of the image editing device 100. The display process is a process that is executed prior to the execution of the image editing process when the image editing device 100 is instructed to execute the image editing process described later. Therefore, when the execution of the image editing process is instructed, the CPU 116 executes the display processing program.
[0051]
In the display processing, first, a dialog is displayed on the display 102 (step S21). The dialog includes an input area for displaying an original image before editing, and an output area for displaying an image after editing. In the input area, thumbnails of the partial images divided from the original image by the above-described region division processing are displayed for each original image according to the layout. In the input area, the thumbnail of the partial image is displayed instead of the thumbnail of the original image. However, since the partial image is displayed according to the layout of the original image based on the position information in the original image, it appears as if the thumbnail of the original image is displayed in the input area.
[0052]
The output area includes a plurality of process designation areas prepared in advance for each application. The usage in the present embodiment is defined by an output destination of an output file described later. Specifically, the application is facsimile (Fax) transmission processing, transmission processing by electronic mail (mail), creation processing of an archive file, and printing processing by a printer. A process designation area related to these processes is displayed in the output area. Then, the thumbnail of the partial image specified by the user in the editing processing described later is allocated to any of the plurality of processing specification areas. The assignment includes designation of a process designation area and designation of a thumbnail position in the process designation area. With this allocation, the thumbnail of the specified partial image is displayed so as to be superimposed on the processing specified area. This allows the user to visually image the output image after editing in the process designation area, thereby facilitating operation by the user.
[0053]
Then, the input area is initialized (Step S22), and the output area is initialized (Step S23). The initialization of the input area is a process in which no thumbnail of the partial image is displayed in the input area. The initialization of the output area is a process of setting a state in which no thumbnail of a partial image is displayed in the output area.
[0054]
Then, the designation of the input image (original image) to be displayed in the input area is accepted, and the size of the image frame to be displayed in the input area is determined according to the size and the number of input images designated to be displayed. An image frame is displayed. The designation of the input image is accepted, for example, by inputting the file name of the input image from the keyboard 106. The size of the image frame is determined to be larger as the size of the input image specified to be displayed is larger. In addition, the smaller the number of input images designated to be displayed, the smaller the determined value. The image frame indicates a frame of a reduced image obtained by reducing the input image. Therefore, the image frames to be displayed are displayed by the number of input images for which the display is specified, and each image frame is displayed corresponding to the input image for which the display is specified.
[0055]
Then, an image frame for displaying the input image is obtained (Step S25). Since the image frames displayed in step S24 are determined according to the size of the input image, here, which image frame corresponds to the input image is obtained.
[0056]
Then, thumbnails of the partial images are superimposed and displayed on each image frame (steps S26 to S28). As described above, in the photograph area attribute memory 121A, the graphic area attribute memory 121B, and the character area attribute memory 121C, the partial image, its thumbnail, and the position in the original image are information (file name) for identifying the original image. Was associated and stored. Therefore, from the file name of the input image (original image) designated to be displayed, it is possible to acquire the partial image included in the input image, the position in the original image, and the thumbnail. The thumbnail of the partial image to be displayed in each image frame is extracted from the photo area attribute memory 121A for the thumbnail of the partial image with the photo attribute (step S26), and the thumbnail of the graphic attribute is extracted from the graphic area attribute memory 121B (step S26). In step S27, the thumbnail having the character attribute is extracted from the character area attribute memory 121C (step S28). Then, based on the extracted thumbnail and the position of the partial image in the original image, the image is superimposed and displayed on the image frame according to the layout of the original image.
[0057]
This makes it appear to the user that a thumbnail of the original image is displayed in each image frame of the input area. Also, the extracted thumbnail is created in step S10 of the area division processing shown in FIG. The thumbnail is converted to a predetermined resolution and stored in the photograph area attribute memory 121A, the graphic area attribute memory 121B, or the character area attribute memory 121C. When the extracted thumbnail is superimposed and displayed on the image frame, the resolution is further converted in accordance with a reduction ratio determined from the image frame and the original image. That is, since the size of the image frame displayed in the input area is determined based on the size and the number of the original images (input images), the ratio between the partial image and the thumbnail is the same as the ratio between the original image and the image frame. Thus, the resolution of the thumbnail is converted.
[0058]
In the next step S29, it is determined whether or not there is an image for which the processing of steps S25 to S28 has not yet been executed among the input images designated to be displayed in step S24. Returning, the above-described processing is repeatedly performed on the image. If not, the display process ends.
[0059]
Next, an editing process performed by the image editing apparatus 100 according to the present embodiment will be described. FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating an example of a display screen displayed in the image editing process. The display screen 200 shows a screen displayed on the display 102 when the user executes the editing process. Referring to FIG. 6, display screen 200 includes an input area 201 and an output area 250. The input area 201 includes four image frames 210, 220, 230, and 240. Therefore, the display screen 200 shows a screen displayed when four input images are specified in the above-described display processing. In the image frame 210, the thumbnail 211 of the partial image with the character attribute and the thumbnails 212 and 213 of the partial images with the photo attribute are displayed so as to be superimposed on the image frame 210. In the image frame 220, a thumbnail 221 of the partial image with the graphic attribute and a thumbnail 222 of the partial image with the character attribute are displayed so as to be superimposed on the image frame 220. In the image frame 230, a thumbnail 231 of the partial image with the photo attribute and a thumbnail 232 of the partial image with the graphic attribute are displayed so as to be superimposed on the image frame 230. In the image frame 240, thumbnails 241 and 243 of the partial image with the character attribute and the thumbnail 242 of the partial image with the graphic attribute are displayed so as to be superimposed on the image frame 240.
[0060]
The band-shaped area 202 is an operation unit for inputting an instruction to display an image frame that is not displayed in the input area 201 when not all image frames can be displayed in the input area 201.
[0061]
In the output area 250, processing specification areas 260, 270, 280, 290 are displayed. The process designation area 260 is an area associated with a process of creating a file for facsimile (Fax) transmission. The process designation area 270 is an area associated with a process for creating a file for electronic mail (mail). The process designation area 280 is an area associated with a process of creating an archive file. The process designation area 290 is an area associated with a process of creating a file to be printed by the printer. As described above, the process designation areas 260, 270, 280, and 290 are associated with the process of creating an output file according to the application.
[0062]
Further, the process designation areas 260, 270, 280, and 290 indicate image frames obtained by reducing the output image to be output by reproducing the created output file. The size of the image frame of the output image is predetermined. The process designation areas 260, 270, 280, and 290 enable the user to visually image an output image in which the output file is reproduced and output.
[0063]
In addition, operation units 261, 271, 281, 291 and save buttons 262, 272, 282, 292 are displayed corresponding to the process specification areas 260, 270, 280, 290, respectively. For example, an operation unit 261 for moving the display window is displayed below the screen of the process designation area 260 to display thumbnails of partial images that cannot be displayed in the process designation area 260. In addition, a save button 262 for inputting an instruction to compress and process a partial image corresponding to the thumbnail allocated to the processing designation area 260 and create and save a new file is provided on the screen of the operation unit 261. Is displayed.
[0064]
A state in which no thumbnail is displayed in the process designation areas 260, 270, 280, 290 of the output area of the display screen 200 is displayed on the display 102 by executing the above-described display processing. Then, when the user performs a drag-and-drop operation using the mouse 108, the thumbnails of the partial images displayed in the input area 201 are displayed in the process designation areas 260, 270, 280, and 290 of the output area 250. . The user's editing operation will be described more specifically by taking the processing specification area 260 and the processing specification area 270 as examples.
[0065]
<Process designation area 260>
The thumbnail 211 displayed in the image frame 210 of the input area 201 is dragged and dropped on the processing designation area 260. At this time, the position at which the thumbnail 211 is dropped determines the position of the partial image in the output file. Then, the user drags the thumbnail 213 displayed in the image frame 210 and drops it below the thumbnail 211 in the process designation area 260. As a result, the output file for facsimile transmission includes the partial image with the character attribute corresponding to the thumbnail 211 and the partial image with the photo attribute corresponding to the thumbnail 213. The layout of the partial image with the character attribute and the partial image with the photo attribute in the output file is determined by the layout of the corresponding thumbnails in the process designation area 260.
[0066]
The dragged and dropped thumbnail is not erased from the input area, and is kept displayed as it is. This makes it possible to allocate one partial image to a plurality of processing designated areas.
[0067]
Then, when the user assigns the thumbnails 211 and 213 to the processing designation area 260 and determines their positions, and then designates the save button 262 with the mouse 108, the compression table previously associated with the processing designation area 260 is referred to, and the compression table is referred to. The partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 211 and 213 are compressed based on the table. Further, the compressed data of the compressed partial image and the partial image are compressed so that the positions of the thumbnails 211 and 213 in the process designation area 260 are the positions of the partial images in the output image in which the output file is reproduced and displayed. A PDF (portable document format) file that associates the position with the position in the output image is generated.
[0068]
<Processing designation area 270>
The thumbnail 211 displayed in the image frame 210 of the input area 201 is dragged and dropped on the process designation area 270. At this time, the position at which the thumbnail 211 is dropped determines the position of the partial image in the output file. Then, the user drags the thumbnail 212 displayed in the image frame 210 and drops it on the right side of the thumbnail 211 in the processing designation area 270. Further, the thumbnail 243 displayed in the image frame 240 is dragged and dropped below the thumbnail 211 in the process designation area 270. As a result, the output file for sending an e-mail includes a partial image of the character attribute corresponding to the thumbnail 211, a partial image of the photo attribute corresponding to the thumbnail 212, and a partial image of the character attribute corresponding to the thumbnail 243. Will be included. Then, the layout of the partial image with the character attribute and the partial image with the photo attribute in the output file is determined by the layout of the corresponding thumbnails in the process designation area 270.
[0069]
When the user assigns thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 to the process designation area 270, determines the position thereof, and designates the save button 272 with the mouse 108, a compression table previously associated with the process designation area 270 is referred to. Based on the compression table, encoding processing for compressing partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 is executed. Further, the compressed data of the compressed partial image and the compressed data of the compressed partial image are set so that the positions of the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 in the process designation area 270 are the positions of the partial images in the output image in which the output file is reproduced and output. An HTML file that associates the position of the partial image with the position in the output image is generated.
[0070]
FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing the flow of the editing process executed by image editing apparatus 100 in the present embodiment. The editing process is a process executed by the GUI unit 157 of the image editing device 100. Referring to FIG. 7, one of the thumbnails of the partial images displayed in input area 201 by the above-described display processing is dragged (step S41). Thus, one of the partial images displayed in the input area is specified.
[0071]
Then, it is determined whether the dragged thumbnail has been dropped in any of the process designation areas 260, 270, 280, and 290 (step S42). If true, the process proceeds to step S43, and if false, the process proceeds to step S45. In step S45, the drag and drop operation by the user is canceled. This is because if the dragged thumbnail is not dropped in any of the processing specification areas 260, 270, 280, 290, it is impossible to determine the assignment to the processing specification areas 260, 270, 280, 290. Further, this is to allow the user to perform an operation of canceling the dragged operation.
[0072]
In step S43, the dragged thumbnail is pasted at the position where the thumbnail was dropped. Thus, the user can visually recognize where the partial image specified by the drag is positioned in the output file. Here, the process specification areas 260, 270, 280, and 290 indicate image frames obtained by reducing the output image. When the reduction ratio of the image frame is different from the reduction ratio of the pasted thumbnail, the resolution of the thumbnail is converted in accordance with the reduction ratio of the image frame of the processing specification area 260, 270, 280, 290 to be pasted.
[0073]
In the next step S44, if the dropped thumbnails overlap, a priority is designated. The specified priority is referred to when an output file to be described later is created, and for the overlapping area, a higher priority is output to the output file, but a lower priority is output to the output file. No output.
[0074]
In the next step S46, it is determined whether or not the save button has been pressed. The processes in steps S41 to S45 described above are executed until the press of the save button is detected. That is, the user can repeat the operation of dragging the thumbnail displayed in the input area 201 and dropping the thumbnail on the process designation area 260, 270, 280, 290 by the processing of steps S41 to S45. Then, after the thumbnails are pasted on the process designation areas 260, 270, 280, 290 in a desired layout, the save buttons 262, 272, 282, 292 are pressed.
[0075]
FIG. 8 is a flowchart illustrating a flow of the compression / save processing executed by the image editing apparatus 100 according to the present embodiment. The compression / save processing is processing executed by the compression processing unit 159 and the layout processing unit 161 of the image editing apparatus 100. The compression / save process is a process executed on condition that the save button is pressed in the above-described editing process. Therefore, in the compression / save processing, the compression method, the output file to be created, and the output processing of the output file are different depending on the save button 262, 272, 282, 292 pressed, but the same processing is executed except for them. . Here, a case where the save button 272 is pressed will be described as an example.
[0076]
Referring to FIG. 8, data of processing specification area 270 corresponding to pressed save button 272 is input (step S51). Here, it is assumed that the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 have been pasted in the process designation area 270 as shown on the display screen 200 in FIG. The thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 pasted on the process designation area 270 and the positions of the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 in the process designation area 270 are acquired (step S52). Further, if the thumbnails overlap, thumbnail overlap information is obtained (step S53). Here, the overlap information refers to the priority specified in step S44 of FIG.
[0077]
Then, the partial image corresponding to the thumbnail is read from any of the photograph area attribute memory 121A, the graphic area attribute memory 121B, and the character area attribute memory 121C, and the overlapping of the partial images corresponding to the thumbnails designated with low priority is performed. The area is deleted from the partial image as a non-display area (non-display area) (step S54). The partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 211 and 243 are read from the character area attribute memory 121C because they have character attributes, and the partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 212 are read from the photo area attribute memory 121A because they have photo attributes.
[0078]
Since the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 do not overlap, a partial image corresponding to the thumbnails 211, 243 read from the character area attribute memory 121C and a partial image corresponding to the thumbnail 212 read from the character area attribute memory 121C. Are extracted as they are (step S55). If the thumbnails overlap, the area extracted in step S55 is an image in which the overlapping area has been cut out of the partial images corresponding to the thumbnails with low priority.
[0079]
In step S56, a compression method according to the extracted partial image is determined with reference to the compression table 122. The compression table is data in which a compression method is defined for each process designated area and for each attribute, and is stored in the hard disk 114 in advance. Here, the use of the process designation area 270 is a file creation process for sending an e-mail. In the compression table, for the purpose of file creation for e-mail transmission, the PNG (portable network graphics) method corresponding to the partial image having the photograph attribute and the graphic attribute, and the zip method corresponding to the partial image having the character attribute are used. Is defined.
[0080]
Then, in step S57, each of the partial images extracted in step S55 is compressed for each partial image by the method determined in step S56. Then, the compressed partial image is saved (stored) in the compressed data memory 114A as compressed data (step S58).
[0081]
In step S59, it is determined whether or not compression processing has been performed on all of the extracted partial images. If true, the process proceeds to step S60; if false, the process returns to step S55, and compression is performed on all of the partial images. The above-described processing is repeatedly executed until the processing is executed. As a result, all of the partial images extracted in step S55 are compressed and stored in the compressed data memory 114A.
[0082]
In step S60, an output file is created. As described above, since the file creation processing for sending an e-mail is associated with the processing designation area 270, an HTML file for sending an e-mail is created as an output file.
[0083]
Since a file creation process for facsimile transmission is associated with the process designation area 260, a file for facsimile transmission is created as an output file. Since an archive file creation process is associated with the process designation area 280, an archive file is created as an output file. A print file is created as an output file because the process designation area 290 is associated with a print file creation process.
[0084]
In the output file, the layout is used to associate the compressed data of the partial image stored in the compressed data memory 114A with the positions (layout information) of the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 obtained in step S53 in the processing designation area 270. The information and the compressed data are embedded in the output file (step S61). That is, the output file includes data that associates the compressed data of the partial image with the position of the partial image in the output image. The position of the partial image in the output image is determined based on the position of the thumbnail corresponding to the partial image in the process designation area 270.
[0085]
It is determined whether the compressed data of the partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 obtained in step S53 has been embedded in the output file in step S61 (step S62). If true, the process proceeds to step S63, and if false, the process of step S61 is repeatedly executed. As a result, all of the compressed data of the partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 obtained in step S53 are embedded in the output file.
[0086]
Thereafter, the output file created by the process related to the process designation area 270 is converted into a storage format corresponding to the file (step S63), and the converted file is output (step S64). The process associated with the process designation area 270 is e-mail transmission. The processing associated with the processing designation areas 260 and 282 is processing stored in the hard disk 114, and the processing associated with the processing designation area 290 is processing transmitted to the printer 104.
[0087]
Next, the processing associated with the processing designation areas 260, 270, 280, 290 will be described in more detail. The process designation area 260 is associated with a file creation process for facsimile transmission. Therefore, the output file is data compressed by the G4 method. Further, the process designation area 260 is associated with a process of compressing all partial images of the photo attribute, the graphic attribute, and the character attribute by the G4 compression method. Then, a process of transmitting the output file by facsimile is associated therewith.
[0088]
The process designation area 270 is associated with a file creation process for e-mail transmission. Therefore, the output file includes the HTML file and the compressed data. Further, the process designation area 270 is associated with a process of compressing a partial image having a photo attribute and a character attribute by a zip method, and is associated with a process of compressing a partial image having a graphic attribute by a PNG method. Then, a process of transmitting the HTML file and the compressed data by e-mail is associated.
[0089]
FIG. 9 is a diagram for explaining a process associated with the process designation area 270. FIG. 9A is a diagram illustrating an example of a thumbnail pasted on the process designation area 270. In the process designation area 270, thumbnails 211 and 243 of partial images with character attributes and thumbnails 212 of partial images with photo attributes are pasted. Since the partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 211 and 243 have character attributes, they are compressed by the zip method. The partial image corresponding to the thumbnail 212 is compressed by the PNG method because it has a graphic attribute.
[0090]
FIG. 9B shows an example of an output image in which an HTML output file is reproduced. The output image 300 is output after another computer interprets the HTML of the output file. In the HTML, information for specifying compressed data of a partial image included in the HTML is associated with the position of the partial image in the output image. The information specified as the compressed data is, for example, a URL (uniform resource locators). Therefore, the output image 300 includes images 211A and 243A obtained by expanding the compressed data of the partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 211 and 243, and an image 212A obtained by expanding the compressed data of the partial image corresponding to the thumbnail 212. In each of the images 211A, 243A, and 212A, since the position in the output image is included in the HTML of the output file and is displayed according to the position, the thumbnails 211, 212, and 243 pasted on the process designation area 270 are displayed. Will be displayed in the same layout as
[0091]
As a modified example of the process associated with the process designation area 270, the process of creating an output file can be a process of creating an output file including a text file and compressed data. FIG. 9C is a diagram illustrating an example of a case where the output file is a text file and compressed data. The output file includes an e-mail text 301 and an attached file 212C. The e-mail text 301 includes text data obtained by character recognition of character attribute partial images corresponding to the thumbnails 211 and 243. The attached file 212C is compressed data obtained by compressing a partial image having a photo attribute corresponding to the thumbnail 212 by the PNG compression method.
[0092]
The process designation area 280 is associated with an archive file creation process as a use. Therefore, the output file is an archive file (PDF). Further, the process designation area 280 is associated with a process of compressing a partial image having a photo attribute and a graphic attribute by a JPEG (joint photographic experts group) system, and is associated with a process of compressing a partial image having a character attribute by a G4 system. Then, a process of creating and saving the compressed data as a PDF file is associated.
[0093]
FIG. 10 is a diagram for explaining a process associated with the process designation area 280. FIG. 10A is a diagram illustrating an example of a thumbnail pasted on the process designation area 280. In the process designation area 280, a thumbnail 211 of a partial image with a character attribute and a thumbnail 232 of a partial image with a photo attribute are pasted. Since the partial image corresponding to the thumbnail 211 has the character attribute, it is compressed by the G4 method. Further, the partial image corresponding to the thumbnail 232 is a photograph attribute and is compressed by the JPEG method.
[0094]
FIG. 10B shows an example of an output image in which an output file (PDF) is reproduced. The output image 302 is output after another computer interprets the PDF file. The compressed data of the partial image included in the PDF file and the position of the partial image in the output image are stored in association with each other. Therefore, the output image 302 includes an image 211C obtained by expanding the compressed data of the partial image corresponding to the thumbnail 211, and an image 232C obtained by expanding the compressed data of the partial image corresponding to the thumbnail 232. In each of the images 211C and 232C, since the position in the output image 302 is included in the PDF file of the output file and is displayed according to the position, the layout of the thumbnails 211 and 232 pasted on the process designation area 280 is performed. It is displayed with the same layout as. As the archive file, LHA, PKZIP, or the like can be used in addition to PDF.
[0095]
The process designation area 290 is associated with a print file creation process as a use. Therefore, a PostScript (R) file can be used as the output file. The process designation area 290 is associated with, for example, a process of compressing a partial image having a photograph attribute and a graphic attribute by a PNG method as a process of compressing a partial image, and a process of compressing a partial image having a character attribute by a zip method. Is associated with. Then, a postscript (PostScript) (R) file is created in the process designation area 290 based on the compressed data and the position of the thumbnail attached to the process designation area 290, and is output to the printer 104. Is associated with.
[0096]
Note that the output file can be bitmap data. In this case, no process for compressing the partial image is associated with the process designation area 290. In the process designation area 290, a process of arranging partial images corresponding to the pasted thumbnails in accordance with the layout of the thumbnails in the process designation area 290 to create bitmap data, and transmitting the created bitmap data to the printer 104. To be output.
[0097]
As described above, in the image editing apparatus 100 according to the present embodiment, the image editing program is executed to execute the above-described processing. Since the facsimile transmission processing, the e-mail transmission processing, the archive creation processing, and the printing processing are respectively associated with the processing specification areas 260, 270, 280, and 290, the thumbnail of the partial image displayed in the input area 201 is dragged. Then, simply by dropping on any of the process designation areas 260, 270, 280, 290, a process according to a desired use can be easily executed in a partial area arbitrarily selected from the input image. be able to.
[0098]
Further, since the operation can be performed while visually recognizing the partial image to be selected and the layout in the output file, the operation is easy.
[0099]
Further, since the input area 201 and the output area 250 are displayed on one screen, all the processes can be designated on one screen without switching the screen, so that the operation is easy.
[0100]
Furthermore, since the reduction ratio of the partial image is determined and the thumbnail is displayed based on the size and the number of the input images (original images), the thumbnail can be displayed in the input area 201 whose size is limited. . In addition, since the thumbnails of the partial images are displayed according to the layout of the original image, the user can recognize the desired partial image at a position in the original image, which facilitates the operation.
[0101]
In addition, since the compression table 122 defines the compression method for each of the processing specification areas 260, 270, 280, and 290 and for each attribute, it is possible to define the processing for compressing the image in a method suitable for the application and the attribute. By simply specifying the application, the image can be compressed by a method suitable for the image without being aware of the compression method.
[0102]
Further, since the output file includes the compressed data of the compressed partial image and the data in which the position where the thumbnail is arranged in the processing designation area is associated, the thumbnail of the partial image displayed in the input area 201 is dragged. Thus, a new image combining a plurality of partial images can be easily generated simply by dropping the image on any of the plurality of processing designated areas.
[0103]
In the above description, an example of the compression processing associated with the processing designation areas 260, 270, 280, 290 has been described. However, the compression method is not limited to the above-described method, but may be any type according to the application and the image attribute. Can be determined. That is, in the compression table 122, the compression method defined for each image attribute for each of the process specification areas 260, 270, 280, and 290 can define a compression method desired by the user. The compression method may include a GIF method and the like.
[0104]
In the present embodiment, a still image has been described as an example, but an image is a concept including a moving image. As an example of a method of compressing a moving image, an MPEG (moving picture experts group) method can be used.
