本発明は、反芻動物に用いる発育促進剤に係り、特に無薬飼料の添加に適した発育促進剤に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、下痢等の疾病を予防して反芻動物の死亡率を低下させて飼育効率を高めるために、飼料中に抗菌性物質等の薬剤を添加していた。しかしながら、近年残留薬物の問題が大きくクローズアップされるようになり、薬剤を使用することなく疾病を予防することが求められてきた。これらの要望を満たす方法として、ハーブ類を有効成分とする種々の疾病予防および治療剤が提案されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
そこで本発明者等は、反芻動物の飼育中における全ステージの飼料中に添加して、疾病の予防を行うと共に肥育等の飼育効率を高めることのできる物質について種々研究を重ねた結果、本発明を完成するに至った。

【課題を解決するための手段】
すなわち、本発明は、ハーブ類またはハーブ類とキャロブ粉末を有効成分とする反芻動物用発育促進剤およびその反芻動物用発育促進剤を用いた反芻動物の飼育方法に関する。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の反芻動物用発育促進剤の有効成分であるハーブ類としてはフェネグリーク、カンゾウ、ローズマリー、セージ、オレガノ、タイム、バジル、マジョラム、シナモン、ローレル、ターメリック、ジンジャー、コリアンダー、セロリシード、クミン、キャラウェイ、フェンネル、クローブ、オールスパイス、オニオン、ガーリック、ナツメグ等が挙げられるが特にローズマリー、シナモン、フェネグリークが好ましい。これらのハーブ類は1種または2種以上を適宜組合せて用いることができる。
前記ハーブ類は粉末の他、抽出して精油等の形態にして用いることもできる。
また本発明の反芻動物用発育促進剤の他の有効成分であるキャロブ粉末は、キャロブの莢および/または果肉を粉末状にしたものであり、なかでも特に莢を粉末にしたものが好適である。
本発明における反芻動物用発育促進剤において、ハーブ類とキャロブ粉末とを併用する場合、ハーブ類とキャロブ粉末との配合割合は特に制限されるものではないが、例えばハーブ粉末:キャロブ粉末の場合0.0025〜5:1、好ましくは0.01〜1:1であり、ハーブ精油:キャロブ粉末の場合は0.0001〜2:1、好ましくは0.001〜0.333:1の範囲である。

本発明の反芻動物用発育促進剤は、所望により酵母、乳酸菌、全卵粉末、グルコース、デキストリン、オオバコ末、炭酸水素ナトリウム、塩化カリウム、塩化ナトリウム、硫酸マグネシウム等を適宜添加することによって一層効果が高められる。
また反芻動物用発育促進剤を調製する場合、ケイ酸等の賦形剤を適宜用いることもできる。

本発明の反芻動物用発育促進剤は通常飼料中に有効成分換算で0.001〜25重量%となるように添加することが好ましい。

本発明の反芻動物用発育促進剤を家畜に給与する方法としては粉末状あるいは、水に溶かして溶液状として飼料と混合して給与することが好ましい。そして本発明の反芻動物用発育促進剤は、反芻動物の飼育期間の全ステージのいずれの時期にも好適に使用することができる。例えば肉牛の場合であれば哺乳期から肥育期まで給与でき、また搾乳牛の場合は、泌乳期から乾乳期のいずれの時期においても使用できる。
また本発明の反芻動物用発育促進剤は、特に哺乳期および飼料の切替え時に用いることによって、家畜にストレスを与えることなくスムーズに給餌することができる。給与する反芻動物としては、牛、ヒツジ、ヤギ等が挙げられるが、特に牛が好ましい。

供試牛としてF1雄子牛(14日令)を各試験区に15頭用意し、基礎飼料として表1に示す配合の代用乳に対し、ハーブ類が1重量%となるように反芻動物用発育促進剤を表2に示す1頭あたりの給与プログラムにより朝夕2回給与し3週間飼育した。また比較例として無薬の基礎飼料のみを同様の給与プログラムにより給与して3週間飼育したものを対照▲1▼区とした。次にその飼育結果を示せば表3のとおりである。

本発明の反芻動物用発育促進剤は、ハーブ類またはハーブ類とキャロブ粉末の併用効果により疾病の予防と共に肥育等の飼育効率を高めることができる。
