本発明は、エルボータイプの流体継手に関し、例えば、自動車の燃料供給系などに用いるのに好適な流体継手に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
図7に示す自動車の燃料供給系は、リターン式と呼ばれるもので、図外の燃料タンクからの燃料を、床下の供給配管101及び供給チューブを102を介してデリバリーパイプ103に供給し、同燃料をデリバリーパイプ103から各気筒のフュエルインジェクタ104に供給する。デリバリーパイプ103には、プレッシャーレギュレータ105が設けてあって、このプレッシャレギュレータ105により、余剰燃料をリターンチューブ106及び床下のリターン配管107から燃料タンクに戻すことで、デリバリーパイプ103内の圧力を一定に保つようにしている。

また、図8に示す自動車の燃料供給系は、リターンレス式と呼ばれるもので、図外の燃料タンクからの燃料を、床下の供給配管101及び供給チューブを102を介してデリバリーパイプ103に供給し、同燃料をデリバリーパイプ103から各フュエルインジェクタ104に供給するようになっており、この際、燃料ポンプの吐出運動やフュエルインジェクタ104の燃料噴射運動に起因する燃料の脈動及び脈動音を抑制するために、デリバリーパイプ103にパルセーションダンパ108が設けてある。このようなリターンレス式の燃料供給系は、例えば特開平9−195885号公報に記載されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、近年では、自動車の軽量化やコストダウンを図るためにさらなる改善が望まれており、燃料供給系においては、リターン式よりも部品点数の少ないリターンレス式のものが増えつつある。

しかしながら、リターンレス式の燃料供給系にあっては、リターン式に比べてデリバリーパイプ103側で燃料の脈動が発生し易いため、上述したようにパルセーションダンパ108が不可欠である。このため、デリバリーパイプ103にパルセーションダンパ108を結合するためのフランジ等の取付け部や、結合部分をシールする構造が必要であり、これらによって構造が複雑化し、充分なコストダウンを図ることが難しいと共に、エンジンルーム内の狭いスペースにレイアウトする際に支障が生じるといった問題点があった。

【発明の目的】
本発明は、上記従来の状況に鑑みて成されたもので、小型で且つ安価であるとともに流体流通系で発生する流体の脈動を抑制することができる流体継手を提供することを目的としている。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明の流体継手は、エルボータイプの流体継手であって、エルボー部に、一方の接続部側からの流体の脈動を吸収する脈動吸収手段を備えたことを特徴としている。

【発明の作用】
本発明の流体継手では、エルボー部に設けた脈動吸収手段により、一方の接続部側からの流体の脈動を吸収するので、当該流体継手を用いた流体流通系で発生する流体の脈動を抑制し得るものとなる。

【発明の効果】
本発明の流体継手によれば、エルボー部に脈動吸収手段を備えたことから、流体流通系で発生する流体の脈動を抑制することができ、このような脈動抑制機能を小型の構成で安価に得ることが可能となる。そして、当該流体継手を自動車の燃料供給系に適用すれば、燃料の脈動を抑制することができると共に、構成が小型であることから、燃料供給系の軽量化や低コスト化に貢献することができ、スペースが限られたエンジンルーム内のレイアウトにも容易に対処し得るものとなる。

【実施例】
以下、図面に基づいて、本発明の流体継手の実施例を説明する。なお、以下の各実施例では、先に説明した図8に示すリターンレス式の燃料供給系において、供給チューブ102とデリバリーパイプ103とを接続する流体継手(クイックコネクタ)を示しているが、当該流体継手の適用部位や詳細な構成が各実施例のみに限定されることはない。

図1は本発明の流体継手の一実施例を説明する図である。図示の流体継手A1は、エルボータイプであって、内側に2つのOリング1,1とバックアップリング2を装着した一方の接続部J1と、一方の接続部J1に対してほぼ直交し且つ外周に抜け止め用の突部3を形成した他方の接続部J2を一体的に備えている。そして、一方の接続部J1の内側に、スペーサ4とともにデリバリーパイプ103を接続し、他方の接続部J2の外側に、供給チューブ102を接続して、流体である燃料を流通させる。

流体継手A1は、継手本体の材料として、燃料に対して耐久性を有するものが用いられ、例えば、ポリアミド、ポリオレフィン、ポリスルフィド、ふっ素樹脂、ポリエステル、ポリアセタール及びポリケトンから成る群より選ばれた樹脂を主成分とする材料で成形してある。

上記の流体継手A1は、エルボー部Eが、一方の接続部J1と同軸状に延長してその先端部で開放したものとなっており、このエルボー部Eに、一方の接続部J1側からの燃料の脈動を吸収する脈動吸収手段を備えている。

脈動吸収手段は、継手本体と同種の材料(樹脂)から成り且つ継手本体に連結する支持体11と、支持体11に連結されて燃料の脈動により変形する脈動吸収体としてのベローズ12を備えている。この実施例では、支持体11は、ガラス繊維入りポリアミド樹脂製の板部材である。また、ベローズ12は、ポリアミド製であって、空気ばねとして機能する。

脈動吸収手段は、支持体11の片面に、ベローズ12の開口部全周を気密的に連結して、ベローズ12内に密閉された空気室13を形成している。また、支持体11とベローズ12は、溶着、二色成形(二重成形)又はオーバーモールドにより連結状態にすることができる。そして、脈動吸収手段は、ベローズ12をエルボー部E内に挿入した状態にして、支持体11をエルボー部Eの開放端部に回転溶着することで、同開放端部を閉塞している。このとき、ベローズ12は、他方の接続部J2側からの燃料の流れを妨げることのない位置にある。

なお、ベローズ12の材料としては、上記したポリアミドのほか、ポリアミド系、ポリオレフィン系、ふっ素系、ポリエステル系及びポリスルフィド系等の熱可塑性樹脂、熱可塑性エラストマー、ふっ素系、ニトリル系及びアクリル系等のゴムを用いることができる。

上記構成を備えた流体継手A1は、燃料供給系において、燃料タンクからの燃料をデリバリーパイプ103に供給し、デリバリーパイプ103側の燃料の脈動すなわちフュエルインジェクタ(図8の符号104)の燃料噴射運動に起因する燃料の脈動が生じた場合には、その脈動波の伝播方向に対向する脈動吸収手段において、脈動吸収体であるベローズ12が伸縮変形して脈動を吸収する。

このように、上記の流体継手A1は、エルボー部Eに、支持体11と、空気ばねとして機能するベローズ12を備えた脈動吸収手段を設けたことにより、小型で且つ部品点数の少ない簡単な構造であるうえに、燃料供給系で発生する脈動を抑制し得るものとなる。そして、図8に示すリターンレス式の燃料供給系において、パルセーションダンパ108を廃止することが可能になり、燃料供給系の軽量化や低コスト化を実現すると共に、スペースが限られたエンジンルーム内のレイアウトにも容易に対処し得るものとなる。

また、上記の流体継手A1は、脈動吸収手段の支持体11及び脈動吸収体であるベローズ12が樹脂又はゴムで成形してあるので、それ自体が軽量で且つ安価であり、しかも、ベローズ12の変形効率が良いので脈動を効果的に吸収することができると共に、樹脂又はゴムは成形性が良いので、所定のばね定数が得られるようにベローズ12を成形することも容易である。

さらに、上記の流体継手A1は、支持体11が、継手本体と同種の材料(樹脂)から成るものとしたので、回転溶着によって支持体11と継手本体を簡単に且つ確実に連結することができ、連結部品を一切必要としないことから、構造のさらなる簡略化や軽量化を実現することができる。

図3は本発明の流体継手のさらに他の実施例を説明する図である。図3(a)に示す流体継手A3は、エルボー部Eに設けた脈動吸収手段として、支持体11と、支持体11に連結されて燃料の脈動により変形する脈動吸収体である弾性弁32を備えている。弾性弁32は、逆止弁に類似したもので、樹脂又はゴムで形成してある。

弾性弁32は、支持体11に一端を連結した円筒部32aの他端に、先端に向けて漸次小径となり且つ先端で開口したテーパ状の弁体32bを有すると共に、円筒部32aの側部に、他方の接続部J2側に開口した連通孔32cが形成してあり、弁体32bが中心方向に撓み変形するものとなっている。なお、弁体32bは、先端開口の面積が燃料の所定流量を確保し得る大きさであり、また、変形し易くするために適数の切込みを形成することもある。

ここで、弾性弁32は、燃料の脈動を受けた際に弁体32bが良好に撓み変形するように、図3(b)に示す弁体32bのテーパ角θを20〜45度の範囲としている。このテーパ角θは、弾性弁32の材質や予想される脈動の大きさ等に応じて選択する。なお、弁体32bテーパ角θを上記範囲としたのは、20度よりも小さくすると、開口面積を一定とする場合に弁体32bの軸線方向の長さが過大になって、安定した変形動作が困難になるからであり、45度よりも大きくすると、開口面積を一定とする場合に弁体32bの軸線方向の長さが過小になって、脈動波を充分に吸収することが困難になるからである。

上記の流体継手A3は、先の実施例と同様の作用及び効果を得ることができるうえに、とくに、脈動吸収手段の脈動吸収体として弾性弁32を採用したので、燃料の所定流量を確保しつつ、一方の接続部J1側からの燃料の脈動を吸収することができる。また、弾性弁32における弁体32のテーパ角θを20〜45度の範囲としたことにより、弁体32bの変形動作がより良好になって脈動吸収機能がさらに高められる。
