Description
本発明は、病気の組織と正常な組織とを容易に区別できる組み合わせられた画像を生成するために再放射光の画像と組み合わせられた輪郭の明らかな自己蛍光画像を得るように広帯域の波長にわたって自己蛍光強度の積分を使用する蛍光画像を捕捉する新しいシステムを提供することによって従来技術の問題を解決する装置および方法を提供することを意図している。再放射光の画像は、距離、角度、および照明強度における変化による画像の不均一性を考慮するように自己蛍光画像を標準化するために使用される。
自己蛍光を発生するために組織を励起させるための励起光を生成し、また、組織からの再放射光を発生するために照明光を生成する光源と、
自己蛍光の画像および再放射光の画像を集めるために自己蛍光および再放射光を受取る光学手段と、
正常な組織の自己蛍光強度が病気の組織の自己蛍光強度とは実質的に異なる範囲の波長にわたって自己蛍光画像を積分し、それによって、組織の積分された自己蛍光画像を生成する手段と、
病気の組織を正常な組織から区別できる標準化された画像を生成するために積分された自己蛍光画像および再放射光の画像を表示する表示手段とを具備している。
自己蛍光を発生するために自己蛍光するように組織を励起光で励起させ、
再放射光を発生するために照明光で組織を照明し、
自己蛍光を検出し、
正常な組織の自己蛍光強度が病気の組織の自己蛍光強度とは実質的に異なるような範囲の波長にわたって自己蛍光の強度を積分し、それによって、組織の積分された自己蛍光画像を生成し、
再放射光の画像を生成するために再放射光を検出し、
病気の組織を正常な組織から区別できる標準化された画像を生成するために積分された自己蛍光画像と再放射光の画像とを組み合わせることを含んでいる。
生体内で病気の箇所の付近に位置される内端部と、体外に延長させるための外端部とを有しているプローブと、
組織の蛍光発光を誘起するために励起光を含む光を発生するようにプローブの外端部に位置された光源とを具備し、そこにおいて、プローブは病気の箇所を照明し、組織が蛍光を発するようにするために励起光を外端部から内端部に運び、
さらに組織の蛍光を検出するためにプローブの内端部に位置され、低い蛍光強度では低い分解能の画像をとらえるために増加され、別の光強度では高い分解能の画像をとらえるために減少されることのできる光感度を有する画像感知手段と、 励起光をフィルタ処理して除去するためにプローブの内端部に位置されたフィルタ手段と、
正常な組織と比較して病気の組織が減少された蛍光発光を有することに基づいて病気の組織および正常な組織の輪郭を描くような方法で画像感知手段によって検出されたフィルタ処理された画像を表示するためにプローブの外端部に接続された表示手段とを具備している。

である。
CCDセンサ12の光感度は、センサアレイの画素を結合することによって調整される。画素を結合することによって空間分解能は減少する。例えば、250×250個の画素(すなわち、62,500個の有効な画素)で構成されているCCDセンサにおいて、それぞれにつき8×8個の画素を形成するために結合された場合、新しいセンサユニットは約30×30個の画素(各画素は元の画素の64倍大きい)の有効なCCDを生じ、非常に低い分解能の画像を提供する。しかしながら、ダイナミックな結合によって、以下に説明されるような低い空間分解能の問題を解決することができる。
