Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective cover for a recording medium which can reliably protect a rear face of the recording medium such as a compact disk (CD) against damage, can be mounted on the medium even while it is loaded in a memory input/output device, has no influence to its operation, and can be arbitrarily mounted/removed. SOLUTION: The whole protective cover 1 is integrally formed of a polycarbonate to protect the CD 2. The cover comprises a surface protecting region 11 in tight contact with the rear face 21 of the CD 2, an outer periphery cover 12 to cover an outer periphery 22, a locking claw 15 slightly folded toward an inner periphery to a side of a front face 25, a center hole 13 slightly larger than a diameter of a latch engaging hole 23 of the CD 2, and an adhesive region 14 around the hole 13. The outer periphery 22 of the CD 2 is fitted in the outer periphery cover 12. The locking claw 15 presses a rim of the front face 25. The adhesive region 14 is stuck to a non-write region 24 at the center.

Description: BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a disk or a DVD, and more particularly to a disk-shaped storage medium on at least one side of which a storage medium is input and output. A protective cover that physically protects, in particular, while protecting the surface on the side opposite to the surface for input / output of storage, and can be mounted on the storage medium even while the storage medium is being driven by the storage input / output device. It is about a certain protective cover. 2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, the spread of computers
(Operation System) is a GUI (Graphical User Inter
face) and its operation has become so easy that it has become widely accepted by businesses and households.
With the increase in demand, the improvement of hardware and software technologies and the development of networks are truly fast-moving,
The acceleration of that progress is coming to an era where predictions cannot be reached. By the way, what has greatly contributed to the rapid progress of multimedia such as a computer in recent years is a storage medium (hereinafter, referred to as “CD” or the like) such as a CD or a DVD, which is mainly based on an optical system. In particular, CDs have many advantages such as ease of manufacture and low cost, high penetration rate of CD-ROMs, ease of handling, compatibility with general-purpose data volume at present, or non-volatility of storage. -ROM, CD-R and CD-RW
It can be said that it is the most widely used medium at present. It is expected that DVDs having a structure similar to this will share their position with CDs as the amount of general-purpose data increases, and will eventually emerge. [0003] This CD or the like has a storage surface for holding a memory, and a storage input / output surface on which a relatively thick and transparent resin layer is applied. For convenience, the “memory input / output surface” is hereinafter referred to as a “front surface”, and the “memory surface” is referred to as a “back surface”. Since this front surface is covered with exposed resin, this resin surface is physically fragile, and there is a risk of being damaged due to handling. Is the result. Therefore, many storage containers have been proposed for the purpose of protecting the front surface during transportation and storage. However, it is necessary to take out a CD or the like from such a storage container when using the CD or the like. Therefore, when the CD or the like is loaded into a CD drive device or the like as a driving device, the danger of being damaged cannot be avoided. The present applicant has proposed a very effective means for polishing and regenerating such a front surface of a CD or the like even if such unavoidable damage occurs on the front surface of the CD or the like.
633. [0005] On the other hand, since the memory is written on the back surface and a label is usually attached thereto, it is often considered that the resin surface is more durable than the exposed front surface. The distance from the label to the memory part is very small, and even a very shallow wound can damage the memory itself,
In addition, such damage cannot be applied by the above-mentioned polishing and regenerating means, and as a result, CDs and the like get fatal damage. For example, in a library or rental shop, it is necessary to stick a bar code label etc. on the back, but when removing them for some reason, some of the labels are peeled off, damaging the memory itself In some cases, writing may be performed on the back side carelessly, and the pen pressure may damage the memory. Therefore, in order to avoid such a fatal damage to the back surface, a material that is hardly damaged is attached to the back surface to protect the back surface by using such a material (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. Hei 9-115260). Issue publication). However, another problem occurs in the method of simply attaching the cover to the back surface in this way. That is, if the hard cover has to be removed for some reason, the label is peeled off together with the label to the storage portion, and the storage itself is lost. Further, for the purpose of remedying such a problem, a method has been proposed in which only a part of the protective film is adhered to prevent the influence on the label surface (Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 9-326175). However, with such a protective film attached, there is a danger of peeling in a drive device whose rotational speed is increasing year by year, and peeling may greatly affect the drive device. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been developed by the inventors as a result of intensive studies in order to solve the above-mentioned problems in the prior art at once. The present invention provides a protective cover for a storage medium that can be securely attached to a storage medium even while being loaded into a storage input / output device, and that can be freely attached and detached without affecting the operation of the storage medium while reliably protecting the back surface of the storage medium from damage. It is aimed at. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is directed to a protective cover for protecting a surface of a disk, which is mounted on a storage medium on at least one side of which a storage input and / or output is performed and protects the surface. A surface protection unit that protects a surface opposite to a surface on which the input and / or output is performed; and an outer peripheral covering unit that covers an outer peripheral portion of the storage medium, wherein the storage medium and the surface protection unit are provided. And / or a holding means for holding the outer peripheral portion by the outer peripheral coating portion. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS A front surface, which is a storage input / output surface covered with a resin surface, typically a CD or the like, and a storage surface on which a memory is written. In addition to protecting the front (hail) surface, especially the back surface, of the storage medium consisting of the back surface that has been made, and reliably preventing loss of memory due to damage,
Even when a storage device such as a CD drive is loaded, the operation is not affected at all. In addition, it can be freely attached to and detached from the storage medium as required, and does not affect the label surface, that is, the storage surface at all. More specifically, it is composed of a surface protection portion that closely adheres to and protects the back surface, which is a storage surface, and an outer periphery covering portion that closely adheres to and retains the outer periphery of a CD or the like,
The whole is made of a material that is very thin and can provide a protection function so as not to hinder the loading into a CD drive or the like. For example, in the following protective cover for a CD, the surface protective portion is formed of a thin resin having the same shape as the back surface to which the label is attached, and is formed through a latch engaging hole at the center of the CD. A central hole having a large diameter is formed, and is provided so as to adhere to the back surface of the CD at a portion other than the label. On the other hand, the outer peripheral covering portion is formed integrally and continuously with the surface protecting portion, formed so as to extend from the outer peripheral portion of the CD to a small portion of the front surface, and similarly formed of a very thin resin. . Thus, the CD and the protective cover are integrated and formed of a thin material, so that the rotation in the CD drive is not affected. FIG. 1 is a perspective view in which the shape of a protective cover of the present embodiment is emphasized, FIG. 2 is a side sectional view in which a state in which the protective cover is mounted on a CD is emphasized, and FIG. 4 is a plan view of the protective cover, FIG. 4 is a bottom view of the protective cover, FIG. 5 is a side view of the protective cover, and FIG. 6 is a sectional view taken along line AA of FIG. Note that the protective cover of the present embodiment has the same side shape and side cross sectional shape when viewed from any of the circumferential directions.
The side view and the side sectional view are each one. As shown in FIG. 1, the protective cover 1 of this embodiment is
D (compact disk) 2 is protected, and the whole is integrally formed of polycarbonate, and is composed of a surface protection portion 11 which is in close contact with the back surface 21 of the CD 2 and an outer peripheral coating portion 12 which covers the outer peripheral portion 22. A central hole 13 slightly larger than the diameter of the latch engagement hole 23 of the CD 2 is formed at the center of the protection portion 11. Surface protection part 11 is about 0.2 mm
The outer peripheral coating portion 12 is formed to have a thickness of about 0.2 mm and a groove width of about 1.2 mm. An adhesive portion 14 is provided on the surface protection portion 11 around the central hole 13 so as to adhere to the center non-writing portion 24 of the CD 2. Further, a locking claw 15 slightly woven in the inner circumferential direction is formed at the tip of the outer circumferential coating portion 12, and when mounted on the CD 2, the locking claw 15 slightly protrudes to the front surface 25 side, and the CD 2 Is provided. The locking claw 15 has a thickness of 0.2 mm and a claw width of about 0.2 mm. When the protective cover 1 is mounted on the CD 2, the outer peripheral portion 22 of the CD 2 is fitted into the outer peripheral covering portion 12. Push it in. In the state where the whole is fitted, FIG.
As shown in the figure, the locking claw 15 presses the edge portion of the front surface 25, the outer peripheral coating portion 12 holds the outer peripheral portion 22 of the CD 2, and the adhesive portion 14 is pressed against the center non-writing portion 24. CD2 and protective cover 1
And become unmovable with each other. The CD 2 with the protective cover 1 mounted thereon is inserted into a CD
When loading data into a drive or the like (not shown) and inputting / outputting data from / to a CD drive or the like having a latch, the center hole 13 is larger than the latch engagement hole 23. By engaging the latch with the latch engagement hole 23 in the same manner as described above, sufficient rotation can be obtained. Further, even in a CD drive or the like having no latch, the CD 2 and the protective cover 1 do not move integrally, and the entire protective cover 1 is formed of a very thin material. Has no effect. Further, since the protective cover 1 can be easily removed from the CD 2, the problem of peeling of the storage surface (label on the back surface) which has conventionally occurred does not occur. Further, when the protective cover 1 is mounted on the CD 2, even if a label is attached to the surface protection portion 11 or writing is performed, the storage surface is not affected at all. In this embodiment, the cover is made of polycarbonate. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, another resin or metal may be used. Any material can be used as long as it is flexible enough not to affect the shape, lightweight so as not to affect the operation of a CD drive or the like, and easy to form into a thin shape. Further, in this embodiment, the CD is formed of a material having no shrinkage so that the CD fits snugly.
By making it slightly smaller than D and by making it slightly sticky inside, it can be in close contact with the CD and can be integrated with the CD by frictional resistance to achieve the same effect. The shape of the protective cover is maintained by using a shape memory alloy or a resin having similar properties in the operating temperature range of a CD or the like, and the shape of the protective cover becomes larger than the CD or the like at a temperature somewhat higher or lower than that. Forming a CD
It is also possible to automate the mounting to the like. Further, by providing some locking means on the outer peripheral portion without using an adhesive means or the like to the back surface of the CD or the like, rotation of the CD or the like in the protective cover can be prevented. In the above embodiment, a CD has been described. However, not only DVDs of the same type but also other storage media used in an exposed state are the same, and the size is designed so as to correspond to the storage medium. It should be done. Therefore, the input / output method is not limited to the optical type, and the same effect can be obtained with a magnetic or magneto-optical type input / output type storage medium. In addition, the shape of each part is desired to be lighter and thinner in consideration of loading into a drive device or the like. Therefore, it is necessary that the thickness of each part as a whole be 1 mm or less, and in the case of resin, the thickness is preferably about 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm.
It is desirable that other materials be 0.5 mm or less. The groove width and the claw width are not limited to those described in the above embodiment, but may be appropriately designed according to the storage medium to be protected. In an optical storage input / output device such as a CD, since the input / output head is non-contact, when such a protective cover is attached, if there is no problem in rotation in the drive device, the input / output head can be used. Input is not affected. Since the present invention is configured as described above, it has the following excellent effects. (1) The back side of the storage medium such as a CD on the storage writing side is protected to prevent physical damage to the storage. (2) Even if the protective cover is mounted on the storage medium and loaded into an input / output device such as a drive device and operated, the operation is not affected. (3) It can be freely attached to and detached from the storage medium, and it is also effective as a means for attaching or replacing a label or the like on the back as necessary.
