剤収容容器内に残される筈の現像剤をスクリューに引き
付けることで、無駄のない現像剤の使用を可能としてい
る。永久磁石は、現像剤(トナーを付着したキャリア)
を吸引するだけでなく、スクリューの回転によって、例
えばスクリューの先端71aからの磁力によってキャリ
アカーテンと称すべき現像剤の穂がスクリューの外径方
向に形成され、このキャリアカーテンがスクリューの回
転に伴って搬送方向下流側へ移動する。スクリュー6
6、67を構成する軸70、螺旋状羽根71の全体を永
久磁石としても良いが、スクリューの外径部よりも遠い
部分にある現像剤を吸引するのか、近い部分にある現像
剤を吸引するのか等の目的の違いに応じて、永久磁石を
設ける部位を任意に選定することが可能である。尚、ス
クリュー66、67の適所に設ける永久磁石としては、
例えば、プラスチックマグネットを用いることができ
る。プラスチックマグネットを用いて軸70や螺旋状羽
根71の全部又は一部を構成する。或いは、永久磁石
は、磁性材料(永久磁石材料)をスクリュー66、67
の一部に(又は全部に)焼結によって成型したものであ
ってもよい。永久磁石の磁力は、現像剤担持体68を構
成する永久磁石の磁力よりも小さくなるように設定する
ことにより、現像剤担持体68側の磁石との間の干渉を
防止することができる。このような構成を備えた永久磁
石を設ける部位としては、例えば回転軸70の外周の全
