As described above, each of the slit rows s, s,... For the ear insertion slits s, s,. The upper end part y1 of the ear y is inserted, and the end faces a1, a of the comb tooth rows a, a,.
The end face b of the gold B is applied to the ears 1, 2,..., And in this case, the ear groups y, y,. The inner surface y2 of each ear y is pressed against the closed end surface s1 of each slit s, and the outer surface y of each ear y
Usually, between the contact surface 3 and the contact end surface d of the backing metal B, the molten lead for molding is usually set to a state in which there is substantially no gap of 1 mm or less without dripping or dropping immediately. However, in practice, the width of each ear of the ear group of the electrode group often varies, and the outer end surface y1 of the ear y and the pad B
6 often exceeds 1 mm as shown in FIG. In such a case, in the strap forming operation, while the raw bar is melted and supplied to the corresponding long rectangular concave surface B1 of the gold B, the forming strap forming process for completely covering the outer peripheral surface of each ear is performed. Before the molten lead solidifies, it falls downward from the gap g and falls on the upper surface of the electrode group,
Problems such as burning of the separator and short-circuiting of the positive and negative electrodes occurred. Therefore, development of a jig for forming an ear group connection strap that eliminates such inconvenience is desired.

Thus, as shown in FIG. 3, the upper end portions y1, y1,... Of the negative electrode ears y, y,. Insert the comb teeth a, a,... So as to face the upper concave surface A1, and set the inner end surface y2 of the ear y against the closed end surface s1 of the slit s. Is brought into contact with the end face a1 of the jig 2 to make the open end face of each strap forming concave face 3b communicate with the open end face of each slit s, and a triangular forming concave face 3b is provided in front of the outer end face of each ear y. And the end face a of each adjacent comb tooth a, a
After the open end faces of the respective slits s are closed and closed by the end faces 3a between the triangular concave faces 3b adjacent to the nucleus of the gold 3 corresponding to 1 and a1, the raw bar made of lead is burned by a conventional method. While melting, the molten lead is supplied and filled into the strap forming concave surface A1 of the comb-shaped jig 2 and the corresponding forming concave surfaces 3b, 3b,. [0008] When the jig 1 of the above-described embodiment of the present invention is used to form 100 formed straps NS connecting the negative electrode ears of the 100 electrode plates, the ears of the ears are formed. As shown in FIG. 6, there is a case where there is a variation in the width, and sometimes a gap having a gap g of 1.5 to 2 mm between the inserted ear y and the facing surface of the gold 3 is generated. There was no dripping of the molten lead from the small gap g, and the above-mentioned inconvenience caused by the conventional jig was not observed at all in 100 cases. This is because each triangular forming concave surface 3b disposed on the backing plate 3 has a smaller volume than in the past, so that the supply amount of the molten lead supplied thereto is small and the heat capacity is correspondingly small. Since the peripheral wall of each forming concave surface 3b is formed so as to surround the gap g between the ear y and the backing plate 3 more rapidly, it solidifies more quickly, and the solidification proceeds rapidly from the gap g. It is considered that inconveniences such as sagging and falling are prevented. Thus, a smooth and highly efficient good lead storage battery can be obtained.

For comparison, using a conventional jig M for forming ear group connection straps shown in FIG. 5, 100 negative electrode groups of 100 electrode plate groups were formed into 100 cases of connection straps by the above conventional method. At that time, during the work of connecting and forming the straps of the ten electrode groups, molten lead dropped from the gap g of 1 to 2 mm between the ears and the pad to the upper surface of the electrode group. This is because the amount of molten lead charged into the concave surface B1 on the elongated rectangle having a relatively large volume of the backing metal B is extremely large, so that it takes a long time to solidify and before solidification. It is considered that a part thereof hangs down from the gap g and falls on the upper surface of the electrode plate group.

The shape of each small-volume concave surface 3b formed on the backing plate 3 is not limited to a triangle, but may be any shape such as a U-shape or an arc, and its width w is 2 mm.
Not only that, but it may be larger, but it is sufficient that at least 2 mm is used. Thus, the concave surface 3b having the small volume only needs to be provided in the number of the ear insertion slits of the positive electrode group or the negative electrode group of the comb-shaped jig 1 to be brought into contact with the concave surface 3b. Compared with the case where the long rectangular forming concave surface B1 is formed over the entire length of the row, remarkable saving can be achieved. Note that the length of the concave surface 3b facing the slit may be equal to or slightly larger than the width of the facing slit.

As described above, according to the present invention, the concave surface for forming the strap formed on the lug of the jig for forming the ear group connection of the electrode plate group for the lead-acid battery is formed by the comb to which the abutment is brought into contact. Since it is arranged to face each ear insertion slit between the comb teeth of the tooth-shaped jig, it is melted and consumed compared with the case of using the metal plate formed on the conventional concave surface for forming a long rectangular strap. Not only can the amount of lead be reduced significantly, but also during the molding of the strap, the molten lead drips from the gap between the ear and the pad, causing the electrode group separator to burn out due to the drop,
Inconveniences such as a short circuit between the positive and negative electrodes can be prevented, and a lead-acid battery provided with positive and negative electrode forming straps can be manufactured smoothly and inexpensively.
