On the other hand, at the wavelength λ of the incident light, the thickness d of the intermediate layer is 2nd · d = λ (2m−1) / 2 (n: refractive index of the intermediate layer, m = 1, 2, 3,...) By setting so as to satisfy the relational expression (1), the phase is inverted with respect to the incident light, and the phase of the reflected light is inverted with respect to the incident light.

The phases of the reflected light and the reflected light are both inverted with respect to the phase of the incident light with respect to the phase of the incident light, so that the phases of the reflected light and the reflected light are the same. The reflected light is a composite wave of the reflected light and the reflected light, so that the reflected light can be enhanced near a specific wavelength λ.

In order to make the refractive index of the intermediate layer uniform in the visible light region, the refractive index of the intermediate layer is made larger than the refractive index of silver and a silver alloy, and further larger than the refractive index of the uneven resin. The film thickness is set as d = 500 (2m-1) / 4n (n: refractive index of the intermediate layer, m = 1, 2, 3,...).

FIG. 5 shows a case where λ = 500 nm and m = 1.
The relation between the refractive index and the film thickness of the intermediate layer is shown. Then, in each plot (refractive index and film thickness of the intermediate layer) shown in FIG. 5, the wavelength dispersion (400 nm to 700 nm) of the reflectance and the transmittance of the silver alloy AgxPdy (x = 99.0, y = 1.0). Was obtained, the result as shown in FIG. 6 was obtained. This figure shows a case where the intermediate layer (film thickness: 54 nm) is made of ZnS (refractive index: 2.3), and shows the wavelength dispersion of the reflectance and the transmittance. The vertical axis RT indicates the reflectance and the transmittance.

Further, in order to numerically evaluate the uniformity of the wavelength dispersion of the reflectance, the standard deviation of the reflectance at each wavelength is obtained in the wavelength range of 400 to 700 nm. The smaller the standard deviation, the more uniform the wavelength dispersion of the reflectance in the wavelength range of 400 to 700 nm. Similarly, in all plots (refractive index and film thickness of the intermediate layer) in FIG.
When the standard deviation of the reflectance at each wavelength was obtained, the standard deviation of the wavelength dispersion (400 to 700 nm) of the reflected light when the refractive index of the intermediate layer was changed was obtained. was gotten. A normal AgxPdy without an intermediate layer (x = 99.0, y = 1.
Since the standard deviation of the reflectance of the wavelength dispersion of the reflected light of 0) is about 8.7, the refractive index of the intermediate layer is set to 1.5 or less.
It can be seen that by setting it to be larger than 3, the reflectance standard deviation of the chromatic dispersion of the reflected light becomes smaller, and the refractive index of the intermediate layer takes a minimum value at about 2.9.

Hereinafter, the reflected light is measured by the same method.

As shown in FIG. 44, each of the measurement of the reflectance and the transmittance was performed on the assumption that a liquid crystal layer was formed on the light reflecting film.
A simple panel is formed by applying a resin of about 1.5 and bonding the substrates together. For the measurement of the reflectance, the incident light is incident from a direction inclined by 2 ° from the vertical direction,
The reflected light is measured in the vertical direction, and the transmittance is measured by inputting light from below the lower glass substrate shown in FIG. 44 and measuring the transmitted light of the resin layer. When a single substance made of silver or silver alloy is incident with visible light, the reflectance in the short wavelength region is low. Therefore, in order to make the reflected light uniform in the visible light region, the refractive index n of the intermediate layer (upper layer 35) should be larger than that of silver and a silver alloy (semi-transmissive film 21).

This point will be described in more detail. In a structure in which a semi-transmissive film of silver and a silver alloy or a color filter or an upper layer having a refractive index equal to or higher than the refractive index of an overcoat resin is laminated on the uneven resin, the refractive index and the film thickness of the upper layer increase the reflectance on the short wavelength side. The relationship will be described with reference to FIGS.

Although silver and a silver alloy alone have a low reflectance in the short wavelength region, in order to make the reflected light uniform in the visible light region, first, the refractive index of the upper layer is changed with silver and the silver alloy and a color filter or overcoat. It must be larger than resin.

This is because the incident light satisfies n (resin) <n (upper layer) [n (resin) = 1.53], and the reflected light at the interface between the resin and the upper layer is smaller than the incident light. The phase is reversed. The reflected light may be out of phase with the incident light due to a difference in the refractive index at the interface between the upper layer and silver or a silver alloy, and due to a difference in the optical path passing twice through the upper layer.

First, since n (upper layer)> n (silver alloy) [n (silver alloy) = 0.2], no phase inversion occurs at the interface between the upper layer and the silver alloy. The phase is inverted by selecting the thickness d of the upper layer so as to satisfy the relational expression of 2n (intermediate layer) d = λ (2m−1) / 2 m = 1, 2, 3,. In other words, when the factors causing the phase shift are summarized, it is understood that the phase of the reflected light is inverted with respect to the incident light. As shown in FIG. 15, both the reflected light and the reflected light have phases inverted with respect to the incident light.
It can be seen that the phases of the reflected light and the reflected light are aligned. Since the reflected light is a composite wave of the reflected light and the reflected light, the reflected light is strengthened around a specific wavelength λ.

First, as an example, in order to increase the reflectance at a short wavelength of about 500 nm in the wavelength dispersion of the reflectance of silver and a silver alloy, λ = 500 nm. As described above, in order to make the refractive index uniform in the visible light region, the refractive index of the upper layer is made larger than that of silver, a silver alloy and an uneven resin, and the film thickness of the upper layer is d = 500 (2m-1) / 4n (intermediate layer). ) It can be seen that m = 1, 2, 3,... FIG. 16 shows that λ = 500
The relationship between the refractive index and the film thickness of the upper layer when nm and m = 1 are shown. Next, at all points in FIG. 16 (refractive index and film thickness of the upper layer), the standard deviation of the reflectivity at each wavelength is obtained from the wavelength dispersion of the reflectivity, thereby changing the refractive index of the upper layer. Wavelength dispersion of reflected light (400 nm to 70
0 nm) can be obtained as shown in FIG. Normal AgxPd without upper layer
Since the reflectance standard deviation of the wavelength dispersion of the reflected light of y (x = 99.0, y = 1.0) is about 8.7, the refractive index of the upper layer is set to 1.50 for the color filter or the overcoat resin. By making it larger than 53, the reflectance standard deviation of the reflected light wavelength dispersion becomes smaller, and the refractive index of the intermediate layer is 2.3.
It can be seen that the minimum value is obtained by the degree.

The phases of the reflected light and the reflected light are both inverted with respect to the phase of the incident light ′ with respect to the incident light, and therefore, the phases of the reflected light and the reflected light are aligned. FIG. 17 shows the relationship between the refractive index and the film thickness of the upper layer when λ = 500 nm and m = 1. In all plots (refractive index and film thickness of the upper layer) shown in the same figure, the standard deviation of the reflectivity at each wavelength is obtained from the wavelength dispersion of the reflectivity, whereby the reflected light when the refractive index of the upper layer is changed is obtained. When the reflectance standard deviation of the wavelength dispersion (400 nm to 700 nm) was obtained, the result shown in FIG. 18 was obtained.

Normal AgxPdy without upper layer
Since the reflectance standard deviation of the wavelength dispersion of the reflected light (x = 99.0, y = 1.0) is about 8.7, the refractive index of the upper layer is made larger than the refractive index of the color filter resin, 1.53. Thus, it can be seen that the reflectance standard deviation of the wavelength dispersion of the reflected light is reduced, and the refractive index of the upper layer has a minimum value of about 2.3.

FIG. 7 shows the relationship between the refractive index and the film thickness of the upper layer when λ = 500 nm and m = 1. In each plot (refractive index and film thickness of the upper layer) shown in FIG. When the standard deviation of the reflectance at each wavelength was obtained, the standard deviation of the wavelength dispersion (400 nm to 700 nm) of the reflected light when the refractive index of the upper layer was changed was obtained. The result shown in FIG. was gotten.
